A pair of New York City newlyweds were in the middle of their wedding portraits when their photo shoot suddenly picked up an unexpected guest, Mariska Hargitay, still dressed as Capt. Olivia Benson.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star was filming nearby on October 1 when she spotted the unidentified bride and groom outside the New York County Supreme Court in Manhattan. Hargitay stepped away from the set and ran toward the couple before joining them for several photographs.
Photographer José Pérez captured her approach on video and shared the encounter on Instagram later that day. PEOPLE reported that Hargitay slipped into the portrait session while the couple was still facing the camera, smiling beside them and enthusiastically pointing toward the newlyweds.
Hargitay was wearing Benson's wardrobe while SVU films its upcoming 28th season, giving the couple a wedding photograph with the show's longtime captain less than a week before the series returns to NBC.
Pérez's footage shows Hargitay running up behind the couple while they continue posing, apparently unaware that she is about to enter the frame.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Pop superstar Taylor Swift was back at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, and sitting alongside Tom Cruise, to watch new husband Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs open the NFL season against the Denver Broncos.
It was the first time Swift has seen Kelce play since they were married over the summer.
The 14-time Grammy Award winner decided to skip the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, though it wasn't necessarily a big surprise. Even though "The Eras Tour: The Final Show" was nominated for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), the category winner already was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, with "The Muppet Show" taking top honors.
The Emmys had fun with the possibility of Swift's attendance, airing a recorded bit where the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" cast, led by host Mariska Hargitay, is trying to figure out whether she will be there. Swift herself appears at the end, though not as herself.
"Maybe she'll do one those cool, pre-taped sketch things to support the host," Swift's character says.

A little after 5 p.m. Thursday in midtown Manhattan, with the thermometer reading 101 but the heat of anticipation much higher, two older women from Idaho found some shade next to a sidewalk Taylor Swift billboard.

A whole lot of New York's security apparatus had been deployed to ensure that she couldn't.

Swift's rehearsal dinner, per an NYPD memo, was set to start in less than an hour with 100 exclusive invited guests, but as Gigi, her friend Shelley and Shelley's carriage-bound infant granddaughter sweltered on 31st Street, the wheels of wedding privacy were grinding ***** ily into action.

An innocuous curb-based white tent — built for semi-privacy and slight cool — was suddenly extended right up to the door of the VIP entrance of Madison Square Garden, ensuring the tent check-in would lead to total seclusion for any incoming guests. Timothée Chalamet, Spike Lee, Mariska Hargitay and even Swift herself did not pass through such opaque surroundings to see the 2026 Finals-playing New York Knicks. Then again, Jalen Brunson never headlined The Eras Tour.

The privacy tarp went up in a matter of seconds and a few commuters who had been walking down the sidewalk hoping to reach the Eighth Avenue of Penn Station saw it thrust in front of them and, flummoxed like Frodo and Samwise at The Path of the Withywindle, disorientedly found themselves turning back.
Along the street, a few Swifties waited and a few local TV crews scrambled to find them, to hear stories of how they grew up listening to Taylor and followed her personal life in parallel to their own and were so happy she found love.

New York Knicks fans flooded the streets of lower Manhattan on Thursday for the first championship parade in franchise history. And just as they did throughout the playoffs, many of the team's celebrity fans turned out to celebrate their 2026 NBA **** le — and the end of a 53-year championship drought.
Among the luminaries were Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, Mariska Hargitay, Edie Falco, Jon Stewart, Martha Stewart, Steve Schirripa, Matthew Modine, Teyana Taylor and Ja Rule.
Some took part in the parade itself as passengers on the dozens of floats that made their way along the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall.
Stiller, who is directing an HBO documentary series about the Knicks, was on one.
Chalamet — who like Stiller attended all five games of the NBA Finals, including three in San Antonio — led parade-goers in a "Let's Go Knicks" chant atop one of the double-decker buses.

Last week, news broke that Amy Griffin, author of the 2025 New York Times bestselling memoir "The Tell," had filed a lawsuit against the anonymous former classmate who, last March, sued Griffin, alleging that several of the anecdotes in the book — which details a horrific experience of childhood rape and ****** ual abuse — were not Griffin's, but her own. Griffin's countersuit claims that the classmate's lawsuit characterizes her as "a fraud and a thief." This isn't the kind of delicious, schadenfreude-dipped publishing-world drama about a bad art friend that other writers love to deconstruct in group texts. It's a dispiriting legal battle in which two women who likely suffered profound ****** ual trauma are publicly battling, one with a focus on preserving both her reputation and her business interests, and the other with almost nothing on her side, including, thanks to Griffin's countersuit, anonymity.
"The Tell" is about a woman who is by every possible measure successful, trying to understand what unseen force is holding her apart from an otherwise beautiful life — impacting her marriage, alienating her children and causing panic attacks. On the encouragement of her equally successful, equally blessed husband, Griffin agrees to try therapeutic MDMA. A former star student and long-distance runner from a prominent family in Amarillo, Texas, Griffin goes into her first session with a competitor's single-minded determination to, as she writes, "get to the finish line."
It takes almost no time for the drug to unearth memories of habitual ****** ual abuse by a teacher at her middle school that began when Griffin was 12 and continued until she was 16. Her confidence in the memories she recovers ("My body knew what had happened to me. The way I'd shake when I'd tell my story; the way my eyes welled up with tears at the mention of Texas") sets her on a relentless trajectory of seeking legal and emotional redress.

I listened to "The Tell" on audiobook knowing very little about it. I didn't know that Griffin is married to a billionaire former hedge-fund founder, or that she's on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Board of Trustees, or that her own venture-capital firm, G9, has made her a billionaire in her own right. I didn't see the seals of approval from America's trio of book-club heavies — Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Jenna Bush Hager — on its cover. New York Knicks fans flooded the streets of lower Manhattan on Thursday for the first championship parade in franchise history. And just as they did throughout the playoffs, many of the team's celebrity fans turned out to celebrate their 2026 NBA ***** le — and the end of a 53-year championship drought.
Among the luminaries were Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Timothée Chalamet, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, Mariska Hargitay, Edie Falco, Jon Stewart, Martha Stewart, Steve Schirripa, Matthew Modine, Teyana Taylor and Ja Rule.
Some took part in the parade itself as passengers on the dozens of floats that made their way along the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall.
Stiller, who is directing an HBO documentary series about the Knicks, was on one.
Chalamet — who like Stiller attended all five games of the NBA Finals, including three in San Antonio — led parade-goers in a "Let's Go Knicks" chant atop one of the double-decker buses.

On June 10, Hargitay was spotted courtside alongside Taylor Swift and the Haim sisters, the group decked out in customized Knicks-colored shirts. After the team erased a 29-point deficit to take Game 4, Hargitay — who is married to Peter Hermann, 58, with whom she shares three kids, August, Amaya and Andrew — gushed, “I love my husband, and our wedding night was great and all, but I think it might have been the greatest night of my life,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress and Brunson shared a hug after that game, with Hargitay telling him, “I love you so much, I’m so happy,” in a clip that went viral on X.
