Preseason is gonna preseason.
Bayern Munich pulled out a 2-1 victory over Jeju SK with a ho-hum effort in South Korea. Surely, the Bavarians would have wanted (or maybe expected) more, but the travel schedule, marketing duties, and overall availability in a foreign land often make these games a ****** shoot.
For the Bavarians, that proved to be the case. Let's dive into the details — here are some quick hitters on the match:
As always, let's begin with a look at the starting XI:
It was expected to be a mish-mash of players and the lineup lived up to it.

One of Bayern Munich's standout players from the preseason has been 21-year-old midfielder Tom Bischof.
After the Bavarians picked up a 2-1 friendly win over Jeju SK, Bischof was asked by the media about what role he might play this season and if head coach Vincent Kompany had spoken to him about his responsibilities.
Bischof let fans in…as much as he could.
"I know that I'm planned for the #6 position, the midfield. But the coach knows that I'm open for everything. If I'm needed on the left or on the right, I'll be there. Just like I did last season," Bischof said (as captured by iMiaSanMia).
One thing that is clear after last season is that Bischof just wants to play. Taking advantage of the youngster's willingness to get on the pitch, Bischof played everywhere in the central midfield and also at left-back and right-back.

The Audi Summer Tour kicked off in the Korean island of Jeju with Bayern Munich taking on Jeju SK FC. The Bavarians fielded a lot of young players for a large portion of the match and the 2-1 lead is a result of the Bayern youth's hard work. While a few of the first team players came on later in the game, they could not affect the scoreboard despite some good chances. Here are the match awards from this hard fought game although it was a friendly on paper.
The Brazilian was a live wire for Jeju. Aiás was not only a finishing threat, but also had the skill to set up one of his teammates. Jeju's goal came off some sheer brilliance from the Brazilian forward. His rainbow flick near the goal line completely flummoxed Kim Min-jae. He found his partner Chang-Min Lee who pulled back his marker in the very last moment to drift into open ***** e. That was all Jeju needed to equalize. It was a brilliant goal from the setup by Aiás to the finish by Lee. Aiás was also the joint highest dribbler of the game with Bayern's Guido Della Rovere.
The Bayern backline suffered from poor communication. Dayot Upamecano did not travel for the tour and is on an extended holiday after France's deep run in the World Cup. The Frenchman's absence along with Jonathan Tah starting on the bench exposed the lack of leadership and co-ordination in the defense. The duo of Hiroki Itō and Kim Min-jae should have done better being the seniors on the pitch. While Jeju's goal was brilliant, there were gaps in the box throughout the first half that could have led to more goals conceded.
João Palhinha was often rushing to break up play or screen the backline. He made two crucial tackles and was the primary physical presence for Bayern in their own third of the pitch. The Portuguese international's reading of the game allowed him to shield his defenders and the passing lanes in between. His ***** ist to Bastian ***** omo's winning goal came from an interception due to his positioning. A good game for Palhinha and maybe under Vincent Kompany can become a crucial sub in Champions League knockouts.
The young midfielder showed once again why he is Bayern's present and future in midfield. His technical ability is supreme, there is always a diagonal pass ready to precisely find his teammate across the pitch. His time at left-back last season further honed his defensive skills and that has improved his game in the middle. Bischof can really throw a tackle if he needs to. This is despite Bischof coming off as a typical technical player, who might prefer to let a defender or a CDM do the dirty work. With two tackles and just three passes misplaced, the 21 year-old is the best box-to-box midfielder under Kompany at the moment. Additionally, Bischof is miles ahead of Joshua Kimmich with his corner kicks which will be a welcome change in that direction.

With Bayern Munich's 2-1 preseason victory over Jeju SK in the books, the Bavarians have now won 2 of their 3 preseason friendlies. Their 4th friendly, however, will be against Europa League winners Aston Villa. It represents a big step up from the previous opposition and will test how well the players have returned from their breaks.
One of those players is Nathaniel Brown, who of course joined Bayern over the summer. Finding his way into the flow of things at Bayern, he is happy with how things are going and is excited for the match against Villa.
"It's going well. We've played two games so far and won both of them," Brown said after the friendly against Jeju (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "I still need to get to know the guys better, especially on the pitch during matches. I'm really enjoying it. Of course, it's pretty tough running in these temperatures. I felt it myself as well. But I think it'll benefit us in the long run.
"Against Aston Villa, we'll be facing a different kind of opponent. It'll be a very good test for us, one that will show us where we stand, and we'll be looking to rise to the challenge."
The match will, of course, not be indicative of the team's real strength with several players missing and weeks to go until the first competitive game of the season. But it will be an interesting barometer to see just how far Bayern are. And perhaps the Bavarians can finally their first ever match against the Villains, even if it is just a friendly.

Bayern Munich was rumored to have interest in a few defenders during the summer, but nothing material emerged when it came to center-backs.
As it stands, the Bavarians seem content to go into the season with Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Kim Min-jae, and Hiroki Itō as the quartet in central defense.
"We're talking about competition, which I like and which is something I've personally experienced. I played in the same roles as Minjae, Upamecano, and Tah. The most important thing is proving yourself on the pitch. I have to compliment Minjae: the way he presents himself, the way he performs on the pitch – and the fact that he doesn't talk. He always has the right answer in every situation: his performances have always been top-notch for us. For me, it's important to see him deliver the way he does. And accordingly, the others have to deliver as well. That's what I want in every position, not just at center-back," Kompany said (as captured by iMiaSanMia).
As of now, Upamecano and Tah seem to be far clear of Kim and Itō, but there could be an opportunity for more playing time if Kompany opts to use his bench more to keep players healthy and fresh. Maybe, Kim and Itō will get ample chances to prove themselves along the way this season — something that might benefit the club.

How ironic that it would happen during duty for U-23s. In the final friendly match before Bayern Munich's U-23 season premiere, two U-19 talents filled in for those making their debuts for the Bavarians' senior team and duly picked up serious injuries. Bayern's official website has the details:
Painful news for Thibault Maspimby and Leopold Schmid : The [center back and defensive midfielder] suffered injuries in the FC Bayern Amateurs ' final pre-season friendly against SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball (1-3 ) on Sunday afternoon and will be sidelined for the time being. Maspimby, who came on as a substitute in the second half and made his debut for the Amateurs, suffered a knee injury. Schmid is out for now due to a forearm injury. We wish you both a speedy and full recovery!
Leopold Schmid had risen to prominence in the U-19s following David Santos Daiber's promotion to the U-23s in January 2026 and did an impressive job of filling the hole left behind. He would have hoped to have retained that momentum and perhaps push for a winter promotion to the U-23s of his own. He will need to regain the momentum now.
Thibault Maspimby, in the meantime, was an ever present for the U-17s last season and would have been so for the U-19s this season, as well. Hopefully this knee injury will turn out to be one of the less severe ones.

There were rumors floating around in the spring that Bayern Munich would consider a move for Atalanta attacker Charles De Ketelaere.
The 25-year-old drew attention to himself with a strong showing in the World Cup, but it does not look like he will be joining the Bavarians any time soon:
When I was there at the press conference with Max Eberl, I thought it would be wise to ask Bayern's director of sport about the links to Charles De Ketelaere. He was laughing when I asked him if it was true or not true that the Belgian was on the list at Bayern Munich, and told me that it's "not true."
It is so odd to be in the heart of the transfer window with little-to-no hope for Bayern Munich to make a move. The roster is strong, deep, and settled and De Ketelaere, while interesting, would be a true luxury move at this point.
It can be ****** umed that the acquisition of Ismael Saibari killed any chance of Bayern Munich picking up the Belgian.

Bayern Munich has long been an admirer of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola.
The talented 23-year-old is someone who the Bavarians have wanted to bring in the past two summers. Now, though, Barcola is ready to leave PSG, but there is "no room at the inn." Given that, Barcola could be looking at a future with Liverpool, who seems to be spending massive amounts every summer now:
Bayern Munich are following this potential transfer of Bradley Barcola to Liverpool. Last summer, and the summer before, they were always in contact with the Frenchman's management. The 23-year-old is a player on the shortlist, and even this summer they knocked on Barcola's door to check his situation and what his feelings were for the future, as his current contract runs out in 2028. There are no negotiations with PSG, at the moment, for a contract extension, so he's getting cheaper and cheaper every year.
The left-sided winger is too expensive this summer for Bayern Munich, but it's a pity that he's not too expensive for Liverpool right now! They are closer to this deal. Yan Diomande, it seems, will be signing for Real Madrid, so Liverpool really need a player like Barcola now. Bayern, on the other hand, could use a player like this in the future. We don't know what's happening with Michael Olise long-term. This summer, of course, we know he's staying put, but next summer the big question will be whether Olise signs a new contract or if Bayern will be forced to sell him.
The number one option to replace Michael Olise would be, as far as Bayern Munich are concerned, Bradley Barcola. If Liverpool are there, however, and if he's signing for the Reds, there's no chance for Bayern. But next summer, there could be a chance if he's staying in Paris for another season.

According to Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies could miss the team's tour of Asia.
Davies, who missed a chunk of last season due to recovery from his ACL tear has been battling a muscular issue for months. The injury limited Davies' participation at the World Cup and still appears to be a major issue for the Canadian star:

Davies' injury history seems to be a point of frustration for the Bavarians, who were wary enough of it to go out and buy former Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown earlier this summer.

The clock has started on the two-season window at Bayern Munich.
As the roster currently stands, the Bavarians are set up to make a strong run at winning a treble this season and next season. The talent and depth far exceeds even last season and — right now — the team appears to be one of the best in the world.
From there, the future is a tad cloudy, but that's is a discussion for another time. So, what needs to happen for Bayern Munich to fulfill its potential over the next two seasons. Let's explore:
There is no doubt about it at this point — Bayern Munich has no intention of selling Harry Kane, nor Michael Olise.
So…what's next? The Bavarians need to get both men extensions and hopefully soon. Let's not let any potential distractions linger into the heart of the season. Both will be expensive and both will thrust the two players to thew very top of the club's pay scale when factoring in the salary + bonus structure.

Bayern Munich and Harry Kane could be ready to kickstart contract discussions in just a matter of a few days — something that the majority of fans would welcome:
Bayern will open formal contract negotiations with Harry Kane at the beginning of August once he returns from vacation. The Englishman is currently Bayern's highest earner alongside Jamal Musiala with around €25m gross per year. Bayern typically aim to cut the salary of players over 30 year old, but with Kane a pay cut will certainly not be a topic. Kane received inquiries from other clubs, but for him it was always clear that Bayern is the perfect club for his career plans
The decisive question for the negotiations will be the new contract duration. Bayern will offer Kane a contract until at least 2029. Meanwhile, the striker is already aiming for the 2030 World Cup and wants to continue playing at the highest level until then. So the situation would be as follows: either a longer contract (until 2030) with a lower salary, or a shorter deal (2029) with a higher salary.
Surely, Bayern Munich will not want to create any ill-will with Kane, who will ***** uredly want a massive number and as long a deal as he can squeeze out of the Bavarians. The talks could be a tricky dance, but it seems very clear that both sides want this deal pretty quickly.
After some speculation that he could leave the club, Vinícius Júnior might be about to get a massive deal from Real Madrid:

After Bayern Munich ran roughshod over the Bundesliga last season, is there any prospect of a tighter race this year? Former Germany men's national team star İlkay Gündoğan does not think so.
"Bayern will have no trouble and will steamroll the Bundesliga again this season," Gündoğan has predicted (via Sky Germany, as captured by iMiaSanMia). "FC Bayern are the ultimate team in Germany. To be honest, with this combination of coach, players, and club officials, I simply don't see how things can go completely wrong at Bayern in a way that, for example, Borussia Dortmund could capitalize on. I actually see Bayern as a very, very serious contender to win the Champions League as well."
On paper, Gündoğan is not exactly going out on a limb. Vincent Kompany's record-setting attack from a season ago basically returns intact; if anything, it should be bolstered by the addition of Ismael Saibari, a World Cup breakout with Morocco, and the continued progress made by Jamal Musiala since his devastating injury a year ago.
Could this be the year the Bavarians lift the UCL trophy once again?

For most of this summer, Real Madrid have consistently been reported to be looking to sign a new player for the right wing position. For this purpose, the Merengues have been very strongly linked with the Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise, even though the Bavarians have made it clear that they are not going to sell the forward and Los Blancos themselves published an official statement to clarify that they are not negotiating with the player.
Still, conflicting reports have continued to emerge for the entirety of the summer regarding the Spanish giants and the French star, who also has had quite an impressive World Cup 2026 campaign. However, on Friday, news emerged of the Merengues' interest in another player, whose signing can permanently close the door on Olise's potential move to Real Madrid.
This player is none other than Yan Diomande, who has several big European clubs interested in him. In fact, he has already stated that he wants a move to the current European champions Paris Saint-Germain, who reportedly have an agreement in place with him, but are yet to reach an agreement with his club, RB Leipzig.
However, Los Blancos' entry in this operation can significantly impact its outcome. Despite the reports of his agreement with PSG, Fabrizio Romano reports that the player has also opened the door to a move to Real Madrid, and positive talks have also taken place between the two parties.
As far as Leipzig are concerned, they have already rejected a €100 million bid from the Merengue club. Now, the latter are looking to return with another offer.

GIVEMESPORT report Harry Kane is set to sign a contract extension at FC Bayern after productive discussions. The 33-year-old striker is entering the last year of his contract at the Rekordmeister.
According to Ben Jacobs, Kane will resume talks with FC Bayern this summer regarding the new deal. FC Barcelona and Al-Hilal both enquired about the England captain, but they understand the situation that Kane wants to stay in Bundesliga.
FC Bayern are relaxed about Kane’s future as there are no options to trigger the previous €65 million release clause reported by some outlets this summer. Kane is a strong candidate to win the 2025/26 Ballon d’Or after his strong campaigns with FC Bayern and England.
Kane scored 64 goals for Bayern since the start of the Club World Cup last summer. In total, he found the net 146 times in 147 appearances for the Bavarians. He became England's all-time top-scorer in the World Cup after his six goals helped the Three Lions to their best-ever finish since the 1966 triumph.

According to a report RTI Esporte, Bayern Munich has interest in Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo, but it could be difficult to land the 21-year-old:
Gabriel Bontempo’s future may lie far from Vila Belmiro. One of the top talents to emerge from Santos in recent years, the midfielder has caught the eye of Bayern Munich, which is preparing a bid to sign him during this transfer window.
RTI Esporte has learned that the German club has made an initial offer of 32 million euros (R$ 186.9 million at the current exchange rate), but the amount is still far below Santos’ asking price. The club’s board has set a minimum of 49 million euros (R$ 286 million) to even begin negotiations.
Despite the difference in the figures, Santos’ financial situation could influence the outcome of the deal. The need to bolster its cash reserves to meet financial obligations means the sale is being treated as a real possibility.
This is the first somewhat major rumor revolving around Bontempo and Bayern Munich, so it is difficult to ascertain just how serious it is. However, with there potentially being one central midfield spot open, maybe the Bavarians are looking for a reinforcement.

In one of the most insane streaks in all of sports, Bayern Munich will — once again — be watching the World Cup semifinals and waiting to see if the club’s crazy streak of having at least one player in every World Cup final since 1982 will continue.
With Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano representing France and Harry Kane as part of England’s team, the Bavarians probably feel pretty good about their chances.
France will play Spain later today, while England takes on Argentina on Wednesday. iMiaSanMia compiled the participation data:
Bayern have always had at least one player in every World Cup final since 1982:
– 1982 final: Paul Breitner, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Wolfgang Dremmler

The talented left-back has put pen to paper on a contract with the Fuggerstädter club which is set to run until 2031.

Bayern Munich have made initial enquiries about FC Barcelona star Jules Kounde, contacting the French defender’s representatives to ******* s his current situation and determine whether he would be open to a future move.
While reports in Germany had suggested interest from the Bavarians over the weekend, SPORT now confirms from sources close to the situation, the Bundesliga champions have recently sought information regarding Kounde’s contractual status and long-term intentions.
Although Kounde remains an important member of Hansi Flick’s squad, he is not considered untouchable.
After establishing himself as one of the world’s best right-backs last season, the French international has struggled to maintain the same level of consistency throughout the current campaign.
While he has continued to produce strong performances, Barcelona believe occasional lapses in concentration have proved costly in several matches.

During the World Cup, Bayern Munich managed to sign two promising players who performed well at the tournament: Moroccan Swiss army knife Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and German rising star Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bavarians managed to sign both for below what their former clubs were asking for, yet Bayern president Herbert Hainer maintained a self-imposed rule regarding potential transfers before they were made official.
“Both are very good players, but I’m sure you’ll understand that I won’t comment on potential transfers,” Hainer said at the time (as captured by X account iMiaSanMia). “We have a very good squad, there’s absolutely no question about that. That’s why, if we do make additions, they will simply be targeted reinforcements, both in attack and in defense.”
With Brown and Saibari now done deals, Bayern must offload some players before making any more transfers.

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has emerged as a headline summer transfer target on the part of German champions Bayern Munich.
This comes amid the understanding that the Bavarians are giving serious consideration to tabling an offer for Jules Koundé.
Stopper Koundé has for his part spent the summer to date providing any who may have forgotten with a reminder of his unquestionable talents.
Following an underwhelming campaign at club level with Barcelona, the 27-year-old has shone from his berth at right-back en route to France booking a spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
And Koundé's performances along the way have evidently not gone unnoticed on the part of those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich could have another option for midfielder João Palhinha as Benfica might have some interest in the 31-year-old:
Benfica are currently the club showing the most interest in João Palhinha and are preparing a bid in the region of €20m fixed plus €5m in performance related add-ons. Benfica coach Marco Silva, who worked with Palhinha at Fulham, sees him as his desired target in midfield and wants to reunite with him. Palhinha is very interested in a return to Portugal/Lisbon.
At this point, Bayern Munich might not care too much about where Palhinha goes, just as long as he takes his €12 million salary package off of its books. Getting that much would be a steal for the Bavarians, who have no use for Palhinha.
Arsenal might be ready to drop a ton of look on Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers…or they are — at least — thinking about it:
Arsenal must meet Aston Villa’s valuation if they want to sign attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, according to Football Insider. The Gunners are believed to be at the front of the queue for the 23-year-old but, with five years remaining on his contract, Villa are expected to stand firm with their demands of a £130 million transfer fee. Rogers scored 10 goals in 37 Premier League matches last season, and is one of the top names on manager Mikel Arteta’s shortlist.

According to a report from Kicker journalist Georg Holzner (as captured by iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is about to give fans something they were clamoring for last season — a bigger role for midfielder Tom Bischof.
Bischof, who made the move from Hoffenheim to Bayern Munich last summer, often played out of position at left-back or right-back last season for the Bavarians, as Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Aleksandar Pavlović, and even Raphaël Guerreiro ate up the majority of the midfield minutes.
Now, though, Bischof looks ready to be an important part of the group:
Tom Bischof will play a significantly bigger role under Vincent Kompany in the coming season. The German U21 captain is the player who will benefit the most from the departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro. Bischof is to take over Goretzka's role as third midfielder, while also retaining the versatility that made Guerreiro valuable, including the ability to fill in at left-back and in the attacking areas if necessary. In doing so, Bischof will effectively replace two departing players at once and receive plenty of game time.
With Noël Aséko Nkili likely headed to Eintracht Frankfurt and David Santos Daiber unproven and coming off of an injury, Bischof has a much more clear pathway to playing time than he did last season. Kimmich aging up another year and Pavlović's poor World Cup showing could present a good opportunity for Bischof to really take advantage of the situation and prove his mettle.

If there is one thing that Bayern Munich hates — and that Uli Hoeneß loathes — it is agent fees.
Tacking extra cost on to already expensive contracts has been the bane of Bayern Munich’s existence for a while now, so when Catalonia news outlet RAC1 revealed that FC Barcelona paid an insane €24 million in agent commissions to sign former Newcastle United star and England international Anthony Gordon, it became very obvious why the Bavarians chose to get up from their chairs at the negotiating table and walk away:
It was widely-assumed that Bayern Munich and Gordon, who had already agreed on personal terms, were going to have an easy time finalizing a deal. At the last minute, though, FC Barcelona swooped in to pay Newcastle United €10 million more than Bayern Munich was prepared to offer.
When factoring in the larger transfer fee (even though it was not substantial) and the agent commissions (very substantial), the transfer saga’s unfulfilling ending now makes perfect sense.

Bayern Munich is reportedly kicking the tires on Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer. From Sky Sport international reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, as captured by iMiaSanMia:
Bayern are interested in Gleison Bremer and have made initial contact with Juventus to understand the possible feasibility of the deal. At this time, however, this is merely an initial exploratory discussion between the parties [DiMarzio]
Bremer was linked to the Bavarians as far back as 2022. However, that summer Bayern went instead for Matthijs de Ligt, signing him from Juventus — and Bremer joined Juve from Torino. Will Bayern come full circle on the Brazilian defender?
The 29-year-old is currently with the Brazil squad at the World Cup but has not started, with ***** nal's Gabriel Magalhães and Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos the preferred pairing for Carlo Ancelotti.

In the 2024/25 season, 15-year-old goalkeeper Leonard Prescott lined up for Bayern Munich’s U-16s. In the 2025/26 season, the 16-year-old jumped up two levels to play for the U-19s, was called up to the first team multiple times and was nearly called upon to make his debut. Still a couple of months away from his 17th birthday, Prescott was promoted to the U-23s and started preseason under new head coach Dante.
Very, very few players rise this quickly up the ranks in the Bayern academy.
Which makes it all the more unfortunate that Prescott’s U-23 debut went so wrong. Set to start the Bavarians’ first friendly of preseason, the American-German dual citizen pulled up short in the warmup to the match and had to be replaced by Leon Klanac.
It was not just a small injury, though. Soon after the match Prescott posted a picture of himself after a successful operation on Instagram:
A day later, Bayern officially revealed the diagnosis on their website:

Per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, FC Barcelona did, indeed, make contract with representatives for Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, but the Catalans have “no chance” to get him:
✅ It is TRUE: Harry Kane’s representatives were contacted by Barcelona. This was confirmed to me. But I also heard that Barcelona has no chance of ******* ing Kane from Bayern Munich. He wants to stay in Munich and sign a new contract. However, he doesn’t want to do that right this moment while he’s still competing in the World Cup with the English national team. Regardless, Kane just wants to negotiate with Bayern Munich, and I think they’ll find a solution.
Any sane club would want Kane given the season he is having for club and country, but the Bavarians have no desire to let him go.
Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain could be getting close to a deal for former Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani:
After failing to reach an agreement last summer, which led to a straight loan to Tottenham, PSG and Juventus Turin are now well on their way to agreeing on Randal Kolo Muani, who has once again become the Turin club’s attacking priority.

Eintracht Frankfurt are close to reaching a verbal agreement with 20-year-old midfielder Noël Aséko, according to Bild .
The German youth international, who spent the last two seasons on loan at 2. Bundesliga side Hannover, is of interest to Frankfurt, who believe they can fend off interest from outside of Germany.
The problem for Die Adler is that Bayern are interested in integrating the young player into their squad for next season and are yet to decide whether to sell him. Aséko can play at right midfield and right wing-back in addition to his defensive midfield role, making him an ideal option for the Bavarians.
Bayern would demand between €10m-€12m if they decide to sell the German player. It's reported that the good relationship between Bayern sporting director Max Eberl and his counterpart Markus Krösche at Eintracht can help negotiations between the two clubs go smoothly.
