It was a game of firsts for Caleb Bacon. Not only was it the first game of 2026, but also Bacon's first game as a Nittany Lion after transferring from Iowa State, as well as his first game as a full time defensive end since switching from linebacker.
It's safe to say all the changes worked out for Bacon, as he was named the Big Ten's Co-Defensive Player of the Week for week one. Bacon made an immediate impact in his Nittany Lions debut, collecting three TFLs, a sack, and six tackles in the first half alone against Marshall. The Thundering Herd had difficulty handling Bacon, as he constantly provided pressure and wreaked havoc in the backfield whenever he was on the field. Bacon even had a sequence with consecutive TFLs as he helped to shut down an early drive by Marshall as the Nittany Lions defense held them scoreless throughout the game. It was Penn State's first shutout in a season opener since blanking Akron in 2017.

Quarterback Rocco Becht looked like the most experienced QB in the FBS, and receiver Koby Howard looked like a revelation with 161 receiving yards. On the defensive side of the ball, new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn's guys were flying, led by spirited efforts from Tony Rojas and Caleb Bacon.

Lynch is starring in a new Applebee's advertising campaign promoting the restaurant chain's O-M-Cheese-adilla Burger, which launched nationally on August 31. The partnership reunites Lynch with a brand connected to him since before his 12-year NFL career ever began.
Applebee's announced the new menu item on August 31, with Lynch announcing it too on his Instagram, describing it as an expanded version of its longtime Quesadilla Burger. For those who stayed up well into Saturday morning to watch the opener of this Orioles-Athletics series, well, I wouldn't exactly say you witnessed an instant classic. There was a whole lot of silly baseball going on. Baserunning blunders. Defensive butchery. Inexplicable managerial decisions. The Orioles couldn't score more than two runs in regulation against the league's worst pitching staff, and let a late lead slip away.
But in the end, Coby Mayo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand saved the Orioles' bacon with back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the 10th, and Alex Hoppe hung on in the bottom half for his first career save, bringing a happy ending to an often bewildering game. To quote Camden Chat commenter Knightley: "This game was so stupid, but at least we won."
If you were expecting the Orioles to storm into Sacramento and easily put away the third-worst team in baseball, well, you don't know the Orioles. Every game seems to be a struggle for the Birds, no matter the quality of the opponent. You might think that the O's, after scoring 26 runs in three games in St. Louis, could at least keep up their offensive momentum against an awful Athletics pitching staff, whose 5.75 ERA entering the game was the worst in the American League. Again, you'd be wrong.
In the first nine innings against these supposedly atrocious A's pitchers, the Orioles scored two (2) runs. That's it. Both came in a weird top of the second inning against Athletics starter Jacob Lopez. The lefty's first pitch drilled Coby Mayo in the shoulder, and later he walked Leody Taveras on four pitches. With two down, Dylan Beavers — starting against a lefty for only the fifth time this year — delivered a clutch hit, roping an RBI single to right to plate Mayo with the game's first run.
Then things went haywire. Carlos Narváez tapped a 43-mph dribbler down the first base line. It should have been a simple task for Lopez to simply pick the ball up and tag out Narváez on his way to first, but somehow the A's hurler let the ball pop out of his glove, then collided with Narváez in the baseline, leading to visits from both team's trainers (both players stayed in). Taveras scored on the error, extending the O's lead to 2-0.

A 16-year-old Norwich City fan who completed a 120-mile (193km) cycling challenge to the club's opening away match of the season at Millwall, said it was a "life-changing experience".
Ranulph Bacon, from Norwich, set off for The Den in south-east London after being challenged to the feat by striker Mo Touré.
He had tagged the striker in an Instagram post, promising to make the journey in aid of Bungay Community Support if he replied. Touré responded within minutes, turning the bike ride into reality.
Ranulph, who completed the ride over three days, has raised nearly £3,000 for the Suffolk-based charity. "It was very intense at times, but I knew I was doing something positive," he said.

With a sweep over Lebanon on Aug. 20, Kings volleyball coach Amanda Meadows picked up her 500th career win.
Meadows has coached the Knights since 2004, compiling a 375-153 record. She started her coaching career at Turpin, leading the Spartans from 1996-2003 and amassing a 125-62 record. She has won a total of 12 conference ****** les, two district ****** les, and a historic 2023 Division I state championship.
According to the Ohio High School Athletic ****** ociation record book, she is the fourth Cincinnati coach to reach 500 wins, joining Ed Stewart (589 wins at Williamsburg), Carol Schawe (579 at Roger Bacon) and Tracey Kornau (528 with Seton, Lakota and Lakota West).

Drake Von is facing even more serious legal troubles.
According to TMZ, the adult model is now in hot water in California after authorities arrested him for possessing a toxic substance in Los Angeles. This is now his 3rd run-in with the law in 2026 following a couple of serious charges in June.
Von, whose real name is Dawson Bacon, was busted Tuesday for misdemeanor possession of a substance similar to toluene, which is a colorless liquid that is highly toxic when inhaled and causes dizziness. Records show Von was released on Wednesday.
Last month, Von was charged on one count of misdemeanor DUI after reportedly crashing his car into another vehicle in Las Vegas. Photos released to TMZ even show the passenger door smashed in. The ****** star said he was sober during the crash, but nitrous was found in the vehicle.
Prior to his DUI, the actor was released on bail after he was arrested for allegedly strangling his partner. His charges include first-degree domestic battery, domestic battery by strangulation, and felony coercion constituting domestic violence with threat or use of physical force.

UFC star Jon Jones posted a video of him killing a pig in 2021 and that led allegedly to a long message from Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton.
Jones was living life after vacating his UFC light heavyweight ***** le at the time — and bulking up to eventually move to heavyweight — when he went on a helicopter ride to shoot at pigs alongside former rangers. Hamilton, who had just won just 7th world championship in Formula 1 months prior, apparently didn't like it.
"I went hunting years ago with bunch of army rangers, and we ended up hunting pigs from a helicopter from using AR-15s," Jones said in an interview with ALF Global. "I was so proud of myself 'cause I killed one of the pigs from the helicopter. My pig was donated to an underprivileged family in the community."
"But Lewis saw me shoot the pig from a helicopter," he continued. "He wrote me a long message saying that I was a coward, and that he thought that I was better than that. He said that the traditional way of killing animals should be with a spear or a bow and arrow. While the Penn State Nittany Lions lost a lot of production in the 2026 NFL Draft, fans were already questioning whether or not several of Penn State's returning options could be seen as draft picks in 2027. Well, after an offseason of change, there certainly seems like the Nittany Lions have a new look about them. So when the Shriners East-West Bowl watch list came out, it should have been no surprise that Penn State was well represented on the list.
Most importantly, it pointed out a major early win for new head coach Matt Campbell. Not only did Penn State place nineteen total players on the watch list, but fifteen of them were transfers from this year's portal cycle. In fact, thirteen of them come from Matt Campbell's former school, Iowa State. Still, no matter the former programs each player represented, it's still highly impressive that in his first offseason, Matt Campbell was able to bring over such highly coveted talent. While the main question will still be about his future recruiting efforts, this offseason's transfer haul at least showed signs of positivity in terms of the program's direction.
Perhaps the craziest thing about several of the players on the list is that they may not all enter the draft at the same time. At least five or six players could return to Happy Valley at the end of this season. That continuity could prove to be more important than any preseason hype these players are getting. If they are already receiving this hype with multiple years of eligibility left, that's a good sign for Campbell's long-term planning with the squad.
The bottom line is that a lot of people are still high on the new talent in Happy Valley. The question of whether that translates to on-field success remains to be seen.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Ryan Fox arrived back in New Zealand on Friday after carrying the British Open championship -winner's claret jug from one side of the world to the other, hankering for some sleep and a gourmet pie.
Fox was embraced at Auckland airport by his father, former All Blacks rugby player Grant Fox, as he arrived with his wife Anneke and two children. Fox birdied the final hole at Royal Birkdale last Sunday for his first major win.
"It's good to be back," he said.
A few hours later, media found the 39-year-old Fox at his local bakery, enjoying his favorite steak, bacon, jam and cheese pie. He hopes in coming days to able to show off his trophy to New Zealand, to get in some fishing and maybe a round of golf.

Tony Rojas and former Cyclone Caleb Bacon are set to lead the way at linebacker for Penn State in 2026. But who might be ready to take the leap and develop into an impact player this fall?
Alex Tatsch (So.)
Tatsch was the immediate name to come to mind as a likely breakout player. He earned meaningful playing time as a true freshman, and impressed despite his lack of experience. The rising sophomore seemed to improve each with each game as he became more noticeable and found his way to the football more and more often. Tatsch contributed 14 tackles, one TFL, and a pass defended in 2025, and those numbers should greatly increase this fall.
Tatsch should also benefit from playing under D'Anton Lynn, who has done an impressive job of developing linebackers at UCLA and USC. While he may not be a week one starter with so many veteran linebackers coming from Iowa State, don't be surprised if he snags a starting spot at some point in the season – and a very productive one at that.

The USA international had been on an extended spell away from the pitch last year, as he succumbed to a nasty Achilles injury during our Europa League match with Sturm Graz way back in October, just before things started to go pear shaped. Brendan Rodgers departed the club once more under a cloud, due to recruitment failings and being backstabbed by the executive suite, whilst our principal shareholder released a scandalous statement excoriating the Irishman for his part in proceedings.
That massive mess that was left behind cannot be allowed to happen again, as it precipitated a nasty and vociferous clash between the club and it's current custodians. Recruitment has become such an issue at the moment for Celtic, that supporters have had no choice but to mobilise and try to affect change at the very top, with the way in which we conduct business currently not acceptable or palatable to fans for that matter.
Martin O'Neill had to fight just to get his backroom staff back at the club, after our Board of Directors tried lowballing Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham, despite saving their bacon twice last season. That has not went down well with a fanbase who are already losing patience with the club's hierarchy, as poor communication and lack of appreciation for the supporters wishes are constant canker sore.

The Devils go with a high compete, hard-working forechecker in Round 6.
With their own sixth round selection, the Devils selected 6’1, 179 pound center Luke Wilfley from the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. In the high-scoring juniors league, Wilfrey managed 9 goals and 15 points in 66 games. So, what do we know about Wilfley?
Safe to say, Patrick Bacon is not a fan.
The Portland Winterhawks posted a much rosier picture of their own player with this video.
From the video, it seems that much of Wilfley’s offense came later in the season, which could mean that the young center was starting to figure things out late. He fits the mold of other picks this year as a hard-checking, high compete forward. Time will tell what becomes of him. For now, welcome to the pool, Wilfley.

When Doc Wieland took over as head baseball coach at Bishop Fenwick High School, he knew he had a talented team that could go places after some tournament experience last year.
Wieland was right. The Falcons are going north next week to the Ohio High School Athletic ******* ociation state tournament after a thrilling walk-off win in the regional finals.
Fenwick (22-8) edged Roger Bacon (21-9) 5-4 in the Division IV, Region 16 final at Day Air Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons. It is Fenwick's first regional ******* le since 1982.
They will play in the state semifinals June 13 in Akron against Richmond Edison or Lancaster Fairfield Union, who played later June 4. First pitch is 1 p.m. June 13.
Fenwick scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come from behind. With the bases loaded, senior Boyd Westerfield hit a grounder to the hole in shortstop. Bacon freshman Grayson Spears threw home but junior Isaac Barker beat the throw to score the winning run.

Ohio High School Athletic ****** ociation regional baseball action for Cincinnati teams kicked off with a bang as some teams didn't just win; they won big.
