With the LIV Golf Tour hanging on by a thread, Bryson DeChambeau hosted a players only meeting to discuss the future of the league. The meeting took place subsequently after LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil and other executives met with the captains of the LIV Golf teams. While few players commented on the happenings, there are some indicators.
Richard Bland said, "Bryson just ran through what he knows, and obviously, we're trying to do it as a group, but we're individuals as well, so I think the next two to three weeks is going to be where it's at. We're in this together; we're fully backing Scott. I think probably in the next two to three weeks we'll have a bigger picture. We're just in that kind of stage at the minute that we're positive with what's going on, but we just need everything to be fully signed off so you can go forward."
LIV Golf has yet to confirm if their Team Championship will occur as scheduled at The Cardinal in Plymouth, Michigan on August 27th-30th. The preparations for the event still need completion, which is unusual. It seems unlikely they will be finished.

Police have been called to Perez Hilton's Miami home after he shared what appeared to be a self-harm video to TikTok.
Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Tuesday night that they had received "multiple calls" of "an individual livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media" and dispatched deputies to investigate.
Officers spoke with Hilton's family members who were on the scene and ultimately decided to "tactfully disengage" while continuing to "monitor the situation" after confirming the celebrity blogger was alone inside.
"In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance and opportunities for communication," the Sheriff's Office shared in a statement to Page Six.
"Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimise the risk of injury to the individual, deputies and the public," the statement continued.
Hilton had reportedly appeared on the livestream naked, bloodied and distressed. The video was reportedly available on TikTok for around 30 minutes before it was taken down, and his account has since been suspended.

A disturbing but unverified video circulating online appears to show the celebrity blogger, 48, nude and covered in what seems to be blood while exhibiting signs of distress and holding a sharp item.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed that authorities responded to several calls about a person who was live streaming acts of self-harm on social media. Deputies arrived at Hilton's home and spoke to family members on scene to confirm he was alone inside, police said Aug 4.
Law enforcement authorities have tactically disengaged at this time "while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family," the sheriff's office told USA TODAY.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton prompted a response from Florida law enforcement on Tuesday evening after livestreaming what appeared to be acts of self-harm from his Miami home, according to local authorities.
A video viewed by Mediaite showed Hilton cutting himself with a large knife in multiple places on his body.
At one point in the livestream, Hilton said, "I'm committing suicide." The stream then ended.
The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office told Newsweek it received "multiple calls" reporting that an individual was broadcasting acts of self-harm online. Deputies responded to Hilton's residence, where they spoke with family members outside the home and determined Hilton was alone inside.
Rather than immediately force an encounter, deputies opted to "tactically disengage" while continuing to monitor the situation.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell confirmed that the Seminoles have had discussions with former players after a recent ruling granted a fifth year of eligibility to athletes who graduated high school in 2022.
"We've talked to compliance. We've had some former players that we have communicated with, or they reached out, to get a sense of what it might look like," he said during a press conference on Tuesday. "So, we're just going to work through the process there. I know that it is definitely a unique dynamic."
While the ruling is a blanket one to all athletes who began their collegiate careers in the 2022-23 season, there are a few exceptions and limitations involved with it. The ruling does not include football players who signed professional contracts, and it prohibits the newly eligible players from entering the transfer portal unless they had already entered the portal this offseason.
Former Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos, who only received a couple of rookie minicamp invites as a wide receiver rather than signing with a team as an undrafted free agent, has reportedly explored the idea of a comeback — either as a quarterback or as an "athlete."
Linebacker Elijah Herring is the only other player eligible to return to the Seminoles under the current ruling, as defensive back Jerry Wilson and wide receiver Squirrel White signed contracts as undrafted players, with White having also retired from football in May.

Big Ten Media Days wrapped up last week and with the annual trek to Chicago came the media projections for each and every team in the conference.
We noted in our rundown last week that Iowa had three pre-season All-Big Ten nominees in offensive linemen Kade Pieper and Trevor Lauck, as well as defensive back Zach Lutmer, who also garnered votes for defensive player of the year in the conference. They were joined by TE DJ Vonnahme, who earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten.
As for the team overall, they were picked to finish 8th in the conference according to the media.
But the media doesn't always know what they're talking about (unless, of course, they're fan media on ablog, then they are always right about everything) and when it comes to perception of the Iowa Hawkeyes, that can be especially true. Well, here we are again.
Indiana football has cancelled another future non-conference series, this time against Notre Dame. The Hoosiers and Fighting Irish were set to meet in Bloomington and South Bend in 2030 and 2031 seasons in a pair of games agreed to years ago when Tom Allen and Brian Kelly were still leading their respective programs.
Notre Dame has replaced those games with a rescheduled series against historic rival USC. It remains to be seen how Indiana, which reportedly requested out of the series, replaces those gaps in its schedule.
As of now, the Hoosiers have no power conference opponents in future non-conference schedules. Indiana has previously cancelled series against both Louisville and Virginia. Indiana's approach to non-conference scheduling predates Curt Cignetti's hiring as head coach, with the aforementioned Louisville series being cancelled during Tom Allen's time leading the program.

The four-year, $140 million value of Zay Flowers' extension generated the headline, but the guaranteed money reveals the depth of the Baltimore Ravens' commitment. Flowers received $108 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Based on the current wide receiver market, that figure ranks fourth at the position behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase.
Smith-Njigba leads the position with approximately $120.07 million guaranteed. Jefferson received $110 million, while Chase secured $109.8 million. Flowers is immediately behind that group and ahead of Drake London, CeeDee Lamb, Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
That placement is significant because guarantees provide a clearer picture of a team's commitment than the maximum value alone. Baltimore did not merely attach an impressive headline number to Flowers' contract. The Ravens guaranteed a substantial portion of the agreement to keep him at the center of their offense.
Flowers has earned that confidence by becoming Baltimore's most consistent drafted receiver. He has surpassed 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons, reached the Pro Bowl twice and established the franchise's single-season receiving record for a wide receiver.
The extension creates expectations for Flowers to remain productive and available throughout his prime. It also offers security that players at that position rarely obtain, with contracts that can include inflated totals and uncertain back-end compensation.

Giovanni Reyna has left Borussia Mönchengladbach to join French top-flight side Racing Strasbourg. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee is €3 million, which is less than what Gladbach paid to sign the United States international from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
After his return from the World Cup, he left Gladbach's training camp to complete his move to Strasbourg. Reyna signed a contract until 2031 as long-term contracts are standard with BlueCo management.
Reyna has only appeared in 19 Bundesliga games for Gladbach. He played 147 games in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund in the previous six seasons. Reyna was part of the United States squad that reached the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup.
"Gio (Reyna) is an excellent player who unfortunately only showed glimpses of his potential during his year here. He was unable to consistently demonstrate his ability on the pitch due to several injuries. With the new contract for running back Bijan Robinson, the Falcons have recently given big deals to four young players who have become part of the nucleus of the team.
Beyond Robinson, the Falcons have extended 2021 first-round tight end Kyle Pitts (three years, $54 million), 2022 first-round receiver Drake London (four years, $141 million), and 2023 second-round guard Matthew Bergeron (four years, $96 million).
While some could reasonably quibble about the value of the various contracts when considering the players' on-field accomplishments to date (except for Robinson, who was a bargain), the new regime in Atlanta clearly regards all four players as key pieces for the present and foreseeable future.
That raises a question. Who drafted those players? It was former G.M. Terry Fontenot. Although the Kirk Cousins-Michael Penix Jr. misadventure from 2024 likely doomed everyone whose fingerprints were on those bang-bang decisions that blew up for the Falcons, Fontenot clearly did his job capably when it comes to selecting players whom the Falcons have since compensated as "keepers."
The other side of the coin is the question of whether the Falcons may be overcommitting cash and cap ****** e to Pitts, London, and Bergeron. Each contract represents a prediction that they'll earn the money. If they do, great. If they don't, the Falcons could end up in a cap crunch with not much to show for it.

It's hard to get off of Jahmyr Gibbs as the 1.01 in half PPR, but Nacua has a case and is definitely in the mix for 1.01 in full PPR. He has the most receptions through a WR's first three seasons in NFL history, and he's also the career leader in receiving yards per game. Last year, he led the NFL in both categories on a per-game basis (8.1 receptions for 107.7 yards).
Already a fantasy football legend, Nacua has a very obvious area to explode further: red zone TDs. Last year, Davante Adams had a 27% target share in the red zone compared to Nacua's 17%. Adams scored 13 RZ TDs to Nacua's 6. That could change at any point, especially if Adams' hammy acts up. If that gets close to even or flips to Nacua, then we're talking about a ceiling that only Cooper Kupp, Jerry Rice, CeeDee Lamb and Ja'Marr Chase have ever had in a single season.

Social media has recently been flooded with clips of pro athletes lamenting that their multimillion-dollar contracts don't go as far as people think. While such complaints can be easy to dunk on, the underlying point is important. The problem is the messenger.
The recent wave may have started with resurfaced clips of JJ Redick, one from February 2024 and another from March 2024, explaining how taxes and other costs can dramatically reduce a player's take-home pay.
"I think people should listen, because they're telling the truth," Chris Bosh recently told Front Office Sports. "And it's really interesting how people don't want to listen to that, but if I told you that player X is signing a three-year, $150 million deal, you'll believe it. It's not $150 million. That's what they're trying to get people to understand."
Financial advisors who work with athletes say the public often overestimates how wealthy professional athletes actually are, especially given taxes, short careers, and, in some cases, financial mismanagement.
"The general public ******* umption—which is that if you make it to the pros you are set for life—is far from true," says Perigon Wealth Management's head of sports and entertainment Marc Specht.

The possibility of Aaron Donald coming out of retirement to join the Los Angeles Rams is perhaps the biggest storyline around the NFL. Andrew Whitworth added fuel to the fire as he seems to expect Donald will be rejoining the Rams at some point.
Whether it's Sean McVay, Whitworth, Donald himself, no one is saying it's not going to happen. At this point, people are mostly and moreso saying that Donald is more likely to come back than not. That can change, and Donald may not come back, but it's being set up that he's expected to return. For now.
If that is truly announced, that will be major news. Until then, it's speculation, and it's still news as is.

With Falcons running back Bijan Robinson getting a new contract that pushes the new-money APY at the position from $20.6 million to $22.25 million, Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has acquired an important data point for his own talks.
Will Gibbs try to match Robinson's number? Will Gibbs try to beat it? Will Gibbs try to blow it away?
It's no coincidence that the initial reporting on the Robinson deal spoke not in terms of the new-money APY of $22.25 million but the maximum value of $25 million per year. Given the overall skillsets and impacts of Robinson and Gibbs, both should have been trying to get to at least $25 million per year in new-money APY.
Robinson will get there only if he hits the targets for the various incentives and/or escalators. Gibbs still has a chance to get there with his base APY.
And when it comes to the new-money APY — a sort-of fugazi way to value contracts but the accepted norm used throughout the league (except when it leads to ridiculous results) — the old money becomes a factor. Remember, there are no true extensions. Robinson's new three-year deal wonn't get stapled onto the end of his two remaining years. He'll have a brand-new five-year deal, which folds the existing cash from 2026 and 2027 into 2028, 2029, and 2030.

The Jets were active this offseason trying to upgrade a roster that finished 3-14 in 2025. The team owned four of the top 50 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. Prior to the Draft, the team was also active in free agency and the trade market, hoping to add veteran experience to a young roster.

I have to admit I am a bit surprised by the results.
I fully expected Minkah Fitzpatrick, a veteran still playing good football, to net a number of votes. I just didn't think Demario Davis would get so few. I personally expected him to finish above Geno Smith. After all, Davis is coming off a strong year, while Smith is coming off a poor season. Jets fans seem to have faith in the quarterback, though. Time will tell whether they are right.

Port Vale have signed striker Tyreece Simpson on a one-year deal.
Simpson, 24, was available on a free transfer after he left League One side Stevenage at the end of last season - and he has agreed to drop into League Two with the Valiants, who were relegated from the third tier in April.
St Kitts and Nevis international Simpson is an Ipswich Town academy product but has, since leaving Portman Road, had permanent spells with Huddersfield Town and Stevenage as well as loan spells at Swindon Town, Northampton Town and Colchester United.
He missed all of last term injured, having suffered a ruptured Achilles in pre-season, as Stevenage reached the League One play-offs and he was among seven senior players to leave the club at the end of their contracts.

Juventus have not given up on Alexander Sørloth, with Luciano Spalletti still keen to add the Atlético Madrid striker even after the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, and a deal that could hinge on the future of Nico González.

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins commented on the trade deadline, including keeping several veterans on the team's roster.
The Blue Jays made several trades ahead of the MLB trade deadline, including trading away Kevin Gausman and acquiring Jose Soriano, among others.
However, while the team traded several players, they also kept George Springer, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber, despite all three players having expiring contracts.
Speaking to Blue Jays reporters following the team's deadline moves, Atkins revealed that the reason Springer was not moved at the deadline was that the veteran DH wanted to stay in Toronto.
"It was important for him to be here. We wanted him here as we continue to push forward," Atkins said.

You may never know in Wrigley, but that doesn't mean you don't know early on. And here that was the case with the ball flying out of the yard right from the get-go in a 10 to 5 defeat against the Cubs, with the Dodgers outmatched offensively.
The first inning alone saw five runs cross the plate, as Matthew Boyd had to contend with one of a pitcher's worst nightmares, seeing one mistake turned into a 3-0 game. Tommy Edman hit a home run, driving in Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages, who had both reached base on soft contacts.
Any idea the Dodgers had of quickly controlling this game went away just as that first-inning lead came. The Cubs immediately countered with a two-run shot from Seiya Suzuki two batters into their offensive performance. And that would be one of three two-run homers in as many innings that Justin Wrobleski would allow, eventually conceding a fourth one as well.
In the second inning, it was Kevin Alcántara helping the Cubs take the 4-3 lead with the first home run of his big league career. From youth to experience, Carson Kelly then managed to isolate the Dodgers number as his favorite victim, knocking a ninth long ball versus LA. Lastly, in Kyle Tucker's first game with the Cubs, it was a different player facing his former club that did the real damage: Michael Busch's fifth-inning solo shot knocked Wrobleski out of the game.
In still a short sample, Busch is building up quite the resume versus his former team with nearly an extra-base hit a game against them (15 in 16), including five long ******* . A pitcher who had allowed just eight home runs prior to his last start, Wrobleski doubled that mark in the span of two games, with back-to-back appearances allowing four home runs.

Whenever you are a successful general manager in the NFL, that means your roster management is among the best. Within that is free agency, trades, and, of course, the NFL Draft. For the Bucs under the leadership of Jason Licht, that last part has not always been a bright spot in their process.
However, in recent years, the draft has been very kind to the Bucs. They have been able to draft foundational pieces such as Antoine Winfield Jr., Chris Godwin, Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, and Zyon McCollum. With drafting well comes the need to be able to pay all of those players.
That was the topic of conversation on the latest episode of Inside Football. Host and former general manager of the Arizona Cardinals, Steve Keim, was on with Licht, and he discussed how hard it is to draft well and keep everyone.
"The negative side of having some great drafts is you can't pay everybody. . .Keeping the gang together is probably my biggest stresser."
The Bucs have several notable contracts expiring this upcoming season, the biggest being quarterback Baker Mayfield. But of all those players we mentioned above, they have all been extended over the past couple of seasons.

We've reached the point in the offseason where the rumors are more speculation about what will happen as we get closer to the start of training camp — or once camp opens — than they are about things that might happen in the near future. With that framing in mind, here are the latest rumors flying around the NBA — and some advice from Chris Bosh to Victor Wembanyama.
The problem is pretty straightforward: The Dallas Mavericks have 16 players under guaranteed contracts but can only carry 15 into the season. Someone has to be traded or waived.
Klay Thompson and his $17.5 million contract are at the forefront of that, reports Christian Clark of The Athletic.
The Mavericks have explored his trade market but have yet to find a deal, multiple sources with rival teams told The Athletic on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss any potential negotiations... My understanding is that Thompson would welcome a return to Los Angeles, where he spent part of his childhood and still owns a home. The Miami Heat are another team frequently mentioned in NBA circles as a potential landing spot for the future Hall of Famer."
Los Angeles? The Lakers are an unlikely landing spot, unless the Mavericks want two years of Jarred Vanderbilt plus another contract (Dalton Knecht?), but the Lakers have 16 guaranteed contracts on the roster and are hard-capped at the first apron, so they can't take on a lot of salary. The Clippers remain in limbo until the Kawhi Leonard/Aspiration investigation comes to its eventual conclusion — which may well be into the start of the season, or even 2027 — and the fit isn't great anyway.
