Kate Middleton reportedly made it clear to the late Queen Elizabeth what role she would play before marrying Prince William. According to a royal author, the Princess of Wales expressed her thoughts on taking on royal responsibilities.
She allegedly clarified that she would always prioritize her family over royal obligations. The 44-year-old reportedly refused to be "pigeonholed" into obeying certain duties. For those unversed, William and Middleton got married on April 29, 2011.
Kate Middleton reportedly laid out her expectations regarding royal duties to the late Queen Elizabeth before marrying Prince William. Royal biographer Robert Jobson discussed the matter in his book, "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography." According to Jobson (via RadarOnline), the mother of three had established a few "fundamental life rules" that she intended to follow after joining "The Firm."
The Princess of Wales reportedly made her intentions clear to the late queen and her son, now King Charles. "She was clear from the outset that she would not be pigeonholed into carrying out particular duties. Her priority, she emphasized, would always be her family," the author wrote.
Furthermore, a source told the outlet that Middleton was "determined" to prevent the palace's expectations from "overshadowing her private life." Her commitment to maintaining those boundaries reportedly became even more important after she welcomed her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

CLEVELAND — A lack of offense put the Guardians' backs firmly against the wall against the Chicago White Sox in an American League Division Series before Jose Ramirez came to the rescue in three consecutive games.
Now in the AL Championship Series, an all-too-familiar — and all-too-unwelcome — lack of timely hitting has every ounce of the Guardians' weight again on their heels, with nowhere else to go but forward or home.
The Guardians lost 3-1 to the Rays in Game 5 of the ALCS, giving Tampa Bay a 3-2 series lead and putting the Rays on the brink of a World Series berth. Trailing in the series for the first time, the Guardians travel to Tampa Bay (without the benefit of an off day to regroup after Game 4 was pushed back) for must-win Games 6 and 7.
They had to win three consecutive games to get to the ALCS. Now, they must again defy the odds and rally to win two connective road games to play the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.
"I think it'll help a ton knowing we're able to do it, facing elimination," said outfielder Steven Kwan, who made two highlight reel defensive plays in Game 5 to save at least two runs. "I think we feel a little better on this one as opposed to the [ALDS] since we've got some wins under our belt.

FC Bayern welcome ****** nal to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening (21.00 CEST) for Matchday 3 of the Champions League. The Munich side faced the Gunners in the league phase last season too – and, after five consecutive matches against them without defeat (four wins), suffered a 3–1 defeat at the hands of Mikel Arteta's team in London. Now, FCB are out for revenge on their home turf, and as our ****** ysis of the facts shows, the prospects of that are pretty good.
Of the seven home games against the Gunners to date, the Munich men have lost just one and come away as winners on five occasions. The record champions have won all three of their most recent encounters in Munich – including two by a margin of at least four goals.
Overall, too, the head-to-head stats favour the Bavarians. In 15 Champions League meetings, FCB have won eight of them, three have ended in a draw and ****** nal have won four times. This means the London side have lost 53 per cent of their matches against FCB – of all the opponents the Gunners have faced five times or more in major European competition, they have a higher loss rate only against Barcelona (67 per cent – six defeats from nine matches).
The league phase of the Champions League and Munich's Allianz Arena – from FC Bayern's perspective, they're a perfect match: since a 3–2 defeat to Manchester City in December 2013, the German record champions have not lost a home fixture in the Champions League group stage/league phase. Of the 39 home games at that stage of the competition during this period, they've won 37 (with two draws) – most recently, they've even recorded nine consecutive home wins.
However, their opponents ****** nal have also been in outstanding form in the early stages of the competition recently and have won all of their last 14 Champions League group stage/league phase encounters. They last dropped points in November 2024, when they lost 1–0 away to Inter Milan.

Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart have both managed to shave significant amounts off the hefty fines handed down by the DFB Sports Court following the pyrotechnics incidents during the DFB-Pokal final (via iMiaSanMia).
Both clubs were initially ordered to pay €260,000 after the use of pyrotechnics during the final, prompting Bayern and Stuttgart to appeal the original decisions. The appeals have now produced considerably different, but welcome, results for both clubs.
Stuttgart's fine has been reduced to €200,000, meaning the club will save €60,000 from the original punishment. Bayern came out even better, with its fine reduced to €170,000—a €90,000 reduction from the initial ruling.
That still leaves Bayern with a rather substantial bill for what happened during the final, but considering the original figure, ****** ody at Säbener Straße is likely to complain about the discount.
The DFB has made it clear that it intends to take pyrotechnics seriously, with clubs continuing to face significant financial penalties for incidents involving flares and other prohibited items in the stands.

India arrive in New Zealand as world champions, having beaten the same opponents by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad in March.
The five-match series now shifts to the Black Caps' backyard, where the T20I history between the sides is far tighter than that result suggests.
Shreyas Iyer leads a 16-man India squad that welcomes back Bhuvneshwar **** ar, who last played a T20I in November 2022. Meanwhile, Mitchell Santner captains the home side.
India last played T20Is here in November 2022, when Suryakumar Yadav's unbeaten 111 at Mount Maunganui set up a 65-run win. They took that series 1-0 after Wellington was abandoned and a rain-hit Napier game ended in a tie, so the record is worth a closer look.
Before the bilateral series kicks off in Christchurch on Thursday, The Sporting News takes a look at the record books.

Notre Dame's 2026 college football schedule has been called many thing over the last eight months, but "tough" or anywhere near the word "hard" was certainly not among them. Still, some have mentioned that this Irish schedule could look a lot trickier as the season progresses. While they may eventually be true, it may not matter all that much (except for message boards and social media).
Notre Dame took a minute or two to get going against the Wisconsin Badgers in the season opener, but eventually the Irish whooped them 42-13. Notre Dame welcomed the Rice Owls to South Bend for the home opener, and sent them back to Texas with a 52-0 loss. Although the Irish were big favorites against Michigan State, they got their best shot — and still beat the Spartans 27-10. The Irish were once again massive favorites over a Big 10 team, and they more than covered against Purdue with a 49-10 win that was never that close. Notre Dame was better than a three touchdown favorite against North Carolina, but ran into a bit of a clunker (and rain) and beat the Tar Heels 37-26. After two weeks on the road, Notre Dame returned to South Bend and the homecooking did them well as the Irish destroyed the Stanford Cardinal 58-7. Disaster hit the Irish against BYU in a 28-24 loss, and no matter what part of the game you want to complain about (because there was quite a bit) the simplest thing to say is that Notre Dame flat out got outplayed by the Cougars. Notre Dame will now be able to chomp down some cheeseburgers during their bye week.
Notre Dame is still likely to be favored in every game this season, and they are still a popular pick to win the national championship. Their strength of schedule probably isn't going to matter much, but let's keep track of it anyway.

Penélope Cruz continued her La Bola Negra press tour at the 2026 BFI London Film Festival, held at the Royal Festival Hall this evening.

The Chanel ambassador has been having plenty of fun experimenting with different styles and labels throughout this press tour. We saw it at TIFF and San Sebastián, and now London has given us another welcome change of direction.
This time, Penélope dipped into the archives for a Ralph Lauren Collection Spring 2014 suit.
The tailoring is impeccable, but it's the pattern play that really sells this look to me. The contrasting checks of the shirt and tie, alongside the dominate cuffs, add plenty of charm and personality to the classic black suit without making the combination feel too busy.

Motherhood has felt noticeably different for Megan Fox this time, with the birth of her daughter Saga. The actress says her youngest child has brought her a calm she had not known before. The key difference, she said, is she "got to do everything in a different way" and not go straight back to work.
In an exclusive conversation with People, Megan Fox, 40, reflected on life with Saga Blade, her fourth child. "This is the first time I did not have to go back to work right away, so my postpartum experience has been very different," Fox said. "I've been able to really be with her the way I wanted to be."
Saga's birth was also unlike the others. "She's also the first one I didn't have in a hospital," the actress said. "I had her at home, in a tub, in the backyard, outside by a fire pit."
Fox and MGK welcomed their daughter in 2025. Fox has three other kids, Noah, 14, Bodhi, 12, and Journey, 10, with ex-husband Brian Austin Green. Returning to work early after her sons were born was hard on her, she explained. "It affected my mental health, and it affected my physical health as well," Fox said.
With the birth of her youngest, Fox is glad she could be around more. "Being able to really be present with her has been something that I love, and I'm so grateful that I got the chance to do it this way," she said.

National Republicans have spent months trying to rescue Ken Paxton. He's complicating that effort.
Tensions are brewing with some Republicans after POLITICO published Paxton's closed-door comments that "D.C." Republicans were largely controlling his race.
"He is welcome to raise his own money and say whatever he wants," said one Republican involved in the Paxton rescue effort, who like others in this article was granted anonymity to speak candidly. "In fact, if he did that, he'd probably be winning right now and we wouldn't need to spend all this money."
"This just seems like Paxton preparing to blame others for what might be one of the most embarrassing defeats in modern political history," said Carlos Curbelo, a former Florida GOP representative.
Senate Republicans and top operatives didn't want to be in this position in the first place. Many had warned that the Trump effort to unseat Sen. John Cornyn and back Paxton in the primary would cost Republicans hundreds of millions to drag Paxton across the finish line in the general election. Cornyn and Senate GOP groups spent millions of dollars on ads during the primary attacking Paxton over his series of scandals and warning he was a flawed candidate.

Cornyn and Senate GOP groups spent millions of dollars on ads during the primary attacking Paxton over his series of scandals and warning he was a flawed candidate.

Louis Vuitton presented its Spring 2027 collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, at the Cour Carrée du Louvre in Paris, and as always, I noticed a few trends in the front row.
Emma Stone and Ana de Armas tend to play it relatively safe with their Louis Vuitton front row looks, so both were welcome surprises. Emma's electric-blue tailoring had a stronger silhouette than we usually see from her, while Ana went tougher in black leather with cut-outs and buckled detailing. Two welcome changes of pace. Did either woman pull her look off for you?
The front row had plenty of New York representation, with Jennifer Connelly joining Keri Russell, Chloë Sevigny and the Haim sisters.
There's a lot going on with Jennifer Connelly's look, including some seriously divisive lace-up boots, but on Jennifer it works. It always works. She has never played it safe with Louis Vuitton, and I don't ever want her to.
Keri Russell will always serve up a sophisticated, sculptural point of view, and she found the perfect Louis Vuitton look. The only thing not working for me is the monogram bag. I wish it had been black.

Sebastian Stan made Fjord before becoming a father. In his latest conversation with Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused, the actor described returning to the film with a different perspective.
"What are these things that I grew up with that I should pass on to my kid?" he asked, according to Entertainment Weekly. He was also considering which experiences had not served him well and should not be repeated.
Stan, 44, and his partner, actress Annabelle Wallis, welcomed their first child in July. PEOPLE confirmed the birth on Aug. 3; the couple had not shared further details about the baby at that point.
In Cristian Mungiu's drama, Stan and Renate Reinsve play Mihai and Lisbet Gheorghiu. The film won the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Mihai is a devout Romanian father who moves with his Norwegian wife and their five children to a remote coastal village. The children become friends with a neighboring family despite differences in their upbringing, while the adults' strict beliefs attract increasing scrutiny, according to NEON's synopsis.

Hay bales, bunnies, and big smiles set the scene as Brittany and Patrick Mahomes' kids welcomed autumn, engaged in outdoor activities, farm fun, and festive surprises. The family photos featuring their three little ones capture sweet moments enjoyed by the children.
Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram to share a carousel of her family in a fall mood. Her caption was simple: "It's fall y'all," followed by a leaf emoji. The pictures point to the family enjoying the outdoors at a pumpkin patch with farm animals and autumn décor. The couple shares three kids: Sterling, 5, Bronze, 3, and Golden Raye, 1.
The family of five also visited Kansas City's Power and Light District, which is a "walkable neighborhood featuring world-class restaurants, modern living," and premier entertainment facilities, according to the district's Instagram page.
The opening photo of the carousel sets the tone for the outing. Patrick carries Sterling on his shoulders and holds Golden in one arm, while Bronze stands close by. Brittany smiles beside them in a Chiefs tee, sunglasses, and black rain boots.
Later frames show the quieter moments. Bronze and Golden hold hands on a hay bale in front of a wall of autumn leaves, with the name of the farm, "Johnson Farms," behind them. In other photos, Sterling grins while cradling a spotted rabbit, and at lunch, she hides behind a flatbread mask with eyeholes.

Chris Brown's child support battle with Diamond Brown is getting uglier. The mother of his daughter, Lovely, has accused the singer of threatening men she has dated since their breakup, claiming his behavior has left her frightened and unable to move forward with her personal life.
The allegations appear in court documents tied to their ongoing dispute over custody and financial support. Chris denies the harassment claims, while Diamond says she has been asking for the behavior to stop for months.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, Diamond described what she called "disturbing behavior" from the singer following the end of their relationship. She said they broke up two years ago and alleged that, despite Chris having a new partner with whom he welcomed another child, he gets "extremely angry with me when I have dated other men since our breakup."
"He has made death threats against my most recent boyfriend, and continued threats to not only him, but also to his twin brother. I understand that he has also had third parties make threats," Diamond claimed.

A recent report suggests that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ready to reconcile with Prince William and Kate Middleton. The update comes after Harry and Markle returned to the UK. Since their arrival, Harry's estranged brother William and his wife, Middleton, have not released a statement welcoming the Sussexes.
Insiders recently said Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning a meeting with Prince William and Kate Middleton. The move is also being seen as the first step for the Sussexes to reconcile with William and Middleton.
A source told Heat World that the Sussexes "feel it's time for a new summit with William and Kate – and that with all four of them in a room, they could start a very productive and healing conversation." Moreover, the insider said Harry and Markle are willing to take the step, as the former "really wants to see his brother and make peace with him."
On the other hand, Markle reportedly wants to feel welcomed in royal circles and repair her relationship with Middleton.
The insider also claims the update follows the release of Charles Spencer's book about his sister, Princess Diana, which has created a buzz among the royal family. They also said Markle has conveyed that she would not bring up any past conflicts with Middleton during the meeting, as "she just wants Harry to be in a room with his brother." However, a concrete statement regarding this much-anticipated meetup has not been released by either party.
