Republicans are swamping House and Senate races with an unprecedented flood of late ad spending as the party tests whether hundreds of millions of dollars can buy it some reprieve from the eroding political environment that’s threatening longtime Republican states and districts.
Since the start of September, Republicans have made more than $700 million worth of new advertising bookings in congressional races alone, according to an NBC News ******* ysis of data from AdImpact, a political ad-tracking firm. That’s new money on top of what had already been committed to those races in ad reservations made over the summer.
By comparison, Democrats booked more than $430 million in new ad reservations across those races last month.
The disparity is greatest in the battle for the Senate majority, where almost 7 of every 10 newly booked advertising dollars are coming from Republicans. That’s led by a massive, late investment in the Senate race in Texas, where Democrat James Talarico is threatening a longtime Republican seat and the GOP has poured in almost $150 million in new ad dollars to back up its nominee, Ken Paxton.
The gap is smaller in the House, where a bit less than 6 in 10 of those new ad dollars are coming from the GOP.

LONDON/WASHINGTON, Oct 5 (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump said on Monday that a threat linked to Iran had prompted the removal of American B-1 bombers from a British airbase.
The planes had been stationed at RAF Fairford, the preferred European base for US bombers, and had recently been used in US strikes on Iran. Last week, five British men were arrested near the base — which Iran's Revolutionary Guards previously said was a legitimate target — on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.
"We had an idea that there might be a threat, and why would I leave them there? It costs very little money to move them," Trump told reporters on Monday. "So we had a threat, and if we're going to be threatened, we just move them, and that sort of alleviates that. And we actually know the people that made the threat."
When asked if they were linked to Iran, Trump responded: "They would be linked to Iran."

Dolly Parton's estate says yellow caution tape and barbed wire crisscrossed the steps to her nephew Bryan Seaver's front door as a process server was making repeated attempts to serve him with a lawsuit accusing him of using a "campaign of threats" to "extract money" from the late music icon's business interests.
Lawyers for the estate filed a photo of the alleged barricade as they urged a judge to deny Seaver's request for additional time to find a lawyer in the messy legal dispute. They also argued that Seaver's security company missed a deadline last week to challenge an emergency restraining order granted in the case, so the order should therefore be converted into a permanent injunction covering both the company and Seaver himself, as its chief. A hearing on the matter is set for Friday, Oct. 9, unless the court grants Seaver's request for more time to hire an attorney.

In his memoir, One ******* uva Ride, the Basic Instinct actor recalled being met by an FBI agent and a police sergeant when he arrived on the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to present the Best Actress award.
They informed him that there was a "credible threat" to his life.
"We have information that someone will try to stab you with an HIV-infected needle tonight," Douglas recalled the authorities telling him in the book, according to Page Six.
"This was during the height of the AIDS crisis, and getting stabbed with an infected needle would essentially be a death sentence."
According to the Wall Street star, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were undercover throughout the crowd in an effort to thwart the plot.

Donald Trump remains a major topic of discussion not only across the nation but also around the world, with attention extending beyond his presidency to his public statements. Whether it is his MAGA agenda or other remarks, some people support the president, while others criticize him. This time, Avengers star Mark Ruffalo has threatened to "Hulk out" over the U.S. president.
On Sunday night, The Avengers star delivered a speech at the Hands Off Our Vote event in New York City, during which he vowed to "Hulk out" over Donald Trump's push to restrict mail-in voting.
During Ruffalo's speech, he sharply criticized Trump. At one point, a fan in the crowd shouted, "You tell 'em, Hulk!" Smiling, the actor responded, "I'm gonna Hulk out."
The actor said, "You won't like me when I'm angry. Hey, I'm still here! They thought I was out for the count — I'm still here, I'm still playing the Hulk."
"He's calling to throw Democrats out of the country. And he means it! The guy means everything he says. I know we're all tired, we are so tired, but we can't give up now … They're going to try and stop us from taking our country back, and we're not going to let 'em. Trump, we're not letting you! Hands off our ****** vote!" Ruffalo said before making his "Hulk out" vow.

Chris Brown's child support battle with Diamond Brown is getting uglier. The mother of his daughter, Lovely, has accused the singer of threatening men she has dated since their breakup, claiming his behavior has left her frightened and unable to move forward with her personal life.
The allegations appear in court documents tied to their ongoing dispute over custody and financial support. Chris denies the harassment claims, while Diamond says she has been asking for the behavior to stop for months.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, Diamond described what she called "disturbing behavior" from the singer following the end of their relationship. She said they broke up two years ago and alleged that, despite Chris having a new partner with whom he welcomed another child, he gets "extremely angry with me when I have dated other men since our breakup."
"He has made death threats against my most recent boyfriend, and continued threats to not only him, but also to his twin brother. I understand that he has also had third parties make threats," Diamond claimed.

Dana White has a lot of haters, but it was surprising to find out that his mother was one of them.
June White shocked the MMA world back in 2011 when she released an unauthorized biography on her son ****** led 'Dana White: King of MMA.' The 152 page book was full of all sorts of accusations: that White and his wife got into physical conflicts regularly, that he 'puts Tiger Woods to shame' regarding infidelity, and that he'd slept with his sister-in-law.
All unproven claims, and all a part of what White now says was part of a scheme to get money out of him to buy a bar. In a new interview with The Diary of a CEO, White addressed his mother's book in-depth for the first time.
"I was on a trip one time, I didn't have emails or any of that s–t on the road," White said. "We were in London for like two weeks and when I got back I checked my emails and I had like a bunch of emails from her threatening me: 'You have two options: you can give me this all upfront, or you can pay me in payments over the next f–king whatever. I'm looking to buy a bar or whatever it was.'"
"And then she wasn't getting responses because I was in London, and then the emails started getting nastier and nastier and nastier," White continued. "And I f–king just blew up. That was the beginning of the end with me and her."

Princess Diana's brother Charles Spencer's new memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is by far the worst tell-all the royal family has ever faced, a source tells In Touch.
"This book has shown how little defense they really have against someone who decides to turn on them," says the source. "It's really exposed their weakness when it comes to fighting back against this story of hatchet job, so of course it's now got them worrying about the next one."
Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson "may be denying any intentions, which is a relief, but the threat is still there if she does decide to pull the trigger," says the source, "and the same goes for" Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
But there's another royal relative that's "really … putting the fear of God in them," the source reveals, and that's Meghan Markle.

In a first for the Kennedy Center Honors, the annual event will not take place at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts this year. Instead, the 49th Kennedy Center Honors will be held at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, DC, a venue with a significantly larger capacity of 20,000. Deadline reports that the ceremony will happen off-site on December 7, with the event's broadcasting partner to be announced later, according to a center spokesperson. The venue change isn't especially surprising. The center has been the subject of dispute for the past couple of years thanks to self-appointed chairman Donald Trump, who threatened to demolish the building unless his name was added to the exterior. His name was added in December 2025, and the addition has been consistently challenged in court for legal reasons. After a judge ruled that he couldn't just slap his name on the front of it, the waterfront center's main building was abruptly closed to the public because of purported structural damage and safety concerns that prompted renovations.
At the 2025 event, which was hosted by Trump, George Strait, KISS, Michael Crawford, Gloria Gaynor, and Sylvester Stallone were honored for their lifetime achievements in the arts. The CBS broadcast of the awards hit an all-time low in ratings, according to TheWrap. The honorees for this year's Kennedy Center Honors haven't been announced yet. Maybe Tom Cruise, who reportedly declined the honor last year due to scheduling conflicts, might get a second chance this time.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard's partner, Ken Urker, has died at the age of 34, a Louisiana sheriff said.
An investigation into his death is underway. Capt. Brennan Matherne of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office told CBS News that there are no signs of foul play. TMZ was first to report the news.
According to police records, Gypsy Rose Blanchard's half-brother and his wife, Dylan and Anita Blanchard, went to Urker's home and attempted to gain access to it. After failing to do so, Anita called the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and requested a wellness check. She said that Urker was in a "dark place," owned a gun and had threatened suicide, according to the records. Officers were dispatched to the home around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Anita told police that Dylan had knocked at the home's door for an hour with no response. Police said Dylan and another person, Justin Daigle, were eventually able to enter the home through an unlocked bedroom window. Daigle said that he touched Urker's body and realized he was cold and not breathing.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Urker dead in his bed. He "appeared to have been there for an extended period of time," police noted, with the report mentioning his face and arms had turned blue.

Olivier Martinez has been granted a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife, Halle Berry.
On Thursday, editors at TMZ reported that the French actor had filed legal documents in which he alleged his former partner had physically attacked their 12-year-old son Maceo last month.
Martinez, 60, alleged it was not an isolated incident and that Berry had also threatened to have him deported to France.
Later in the day, a Los Angeles County judge granted the Unfaithful star the order, requiring Berry to stay 100 yards (91 metres) from him until the next hearing takes place on 16 October.
They also limited the times the Oscar-winning actress can see Maceo.
A short time after the filing became public, Berry's lawyer, Marina Beck, issued a statement to People in which she denied the allegations.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military is dispatching roughly 9,000 troops aboard a group of ships to the Middle East, a U.S. official said Thursday. The bolstering of the American military presence comes as President Donald Trump warned anew that new strikes against Iran could be on the horizon.
The troop movement, which includes a third aircraft carrier, underscores the rapidly evolving dynamic of Trump's war against Iran as he ponders his next move, with midterm elections in the United States looming large and new signs that the nature of the conflict may be becoming more complex.
Trump has threatened that a post-midterm election escalation — despite his initial promises to Americans of a campaign that would last a matter of weeks — remains a viable option. Further complicating matters, Trump told reporters Thursday that early indications suggest that Iran is linked to the FlyDubai co-pilot who stabbed his captain and tried to crash an Israel-bound flight on Wednesday.
In an exchange with reporters at the White House, Trump raised the connection when asked by a reporter if there were any links between the pilot behind the attack and Tehran.
"I would say the answer, based on what I'm hearing, is 'yes,' but we're working on it right now," Trump said, without offering details.

Trump defended such a move, saying Biden "gave pardons to everyone."
President Donald Trump said in an interview out Thursday that he would be open to pardoning members of his administration, pointing to former President Joe Biden’s blanket pardon to relatives and members of the administration out of concern they would be politically targeted after he left office.
"Yeah, sure, I'd do that," the president answered when asked by TIME magazine earlier this week if he was "considering pardoning members of your administration prior to the end of your term?"
The president further said that Biden "gave pardons to everyone."
Biden issued preemptive pardons to several close family members in the final minutes of his presidency in 2025, saying that his family "has been subjected to unrelenting attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to hurt me" and that he had "no reason to believe these attacks will end" after he left office.

Former President Obama on Friday slammed President Trump over his handling of how to approach artificial intelligence amid “doomsday” warnings coming from some in the tech industry about the technology’s potential existential threat to humanity.
Obama said during an interview at Colgate University in New York that the federal government must regulate AI, before referring to comments made by one Trump adviser.
“I heard one of Donald Trump’s main advisers on this make the argument that, ‘The market will take care of AI,'” the former president said. “‘These companies will solve the safety issues because they have every incentive to do so — if it turns out to be dangerous, people will just sue them, and they’re worried about financial liability.'”
“That’s not how we treat airlines,” Obama added. “Or drug companies, or food companies.”
Obama continued to say that AI could become a threat at a human level if it falls into the clutches of “bad humans” and if self-improving AI models realize they no longer need humans. He referred to Trump again in that his successor has said regulations on AI are “for losers.”

President Donald Trump’s sinking ratings threaten to drag down Republicans in November’s midterm elections, as voters blame him for high prices and a shaky economy, according to a new NBC News poll.
The president’s approval rating stands at 41% among registered voters, a second-term low in the poll, with a majority (55%) of voters saying they believe Trump’s policies have hurt the economy. That’s up from 48% in March, before the Iran war pushed up prices on gas and other goods and cemented the rising cost of living as voters’ most pressing issue.
Democrats hold a 5-point edge in the battle for control of Congress, 50%-45% — not nearly as large a lead as the 12-point advantage the party enjoyed at this point before the 2018 election, when Democrats rode an anti-Trump wave to the House majority in his first midterm as president. Despite that lead, the Democratic Party is still viewed more negatively than Trump and the GOP.
That could help Republicans, along with the fact that the fight for control of the House and especially the Senate is playing out in traditionally Republican parts of the country. Democrats would have to flip multiple states Trump carried by double digits in 2024 to win the Senate.
“We have a classic battle between these numbers and the political geography in which this campaign will be decided,” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, whose firm conducted the survey alongside Democratic firm Hart Research ***** ociates. “And the Republicans are still standing because of the geography in which this election will be won or lost.”

In the end, Kevin Warsh's Federal Reserve acquitted itself well. For all the uncertainty he had sparked at the previous meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee, when he refused to provide any indication of what he was prepared to do to tame stubborn inflation, the chair on Wednesday presided over a unanimous decision to raise interest rates for the first time in three years.
"Today's action starts to show that we're serious about this," he said at the press conference after the meeting, with "this" meaning inflation in excess of the Fed's 2% target for over five years. Welcome though it was, his embrace of economic orthodoxy nonetheless did little to dispel the Keystone Cops quality of governance in Donald Trump's US.
Warsh's resolve – raising rates just a few weeks before elections that will determine whether Republicans retain control of Congress – appeared even more resolute in the face of a veiled threat from White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett, who pointed out to his chums on Fox that "if you want an independent Fed, then one thing the Fed does is it stays out of the way of elections".
The central bankers' parsimonious comments in the press conference following the meeting made a sharp contrast with the more unhinged commentary from other members of the administration, including the president himself, who earlier this month celebrated the resilience of the labor market with a mind-boggling threat to "STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT" unless the Fed cut interest rates.
Trump has yet to turn on Warsh in the way he did on his predecessor, Jerome "numbskull" Powell. But the signs are ominous. After the rate hike, Trump went ballistic – spewing more of the random, incoherent thoughts that have become his trademark. "Interest Rates in the United States should be 1%, or less, because we are the Best Credit in the World," he wrote on social media, despite recalcitrant inflation and a budget deficit that is likely to exceed $2tn this year. He again demanded the powers that be to "LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST!"

California entrepreneur Eric Schiffer warned that the state's proposed billionaire wealth tax could drive some of its most successful business leaders out of California, predicting a "giant sucking sound" of entrepreneurs heading for the exits if voters approve the measure.
Schiffer, chairman of family office Patriarch and CEO of Reputation Management Consultants, told FOX Business he works with several billionaire clients, including some in California, and said many are unhappy about the proposal.
"I think the impact of this passing in California is a giant sucking sound of all of these entrepreneurs being sucked out of California because they're just not going to want to stay," Schiffer said.
"Why would anyone stay if they have spent their life building wealth that they were already taxed on?

Cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s shares are up by more than 100% year to date. With AI continuing to dominate the market narrative, the firm has found itself at the center of the industry's concerns about cybersecurity. While some, such as Anthropic's Dario Amodei, have claimed that their AI software is sufficient for cybersecurity purposes, others have argued that firms such as CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) will play a key role in the industry. Cramer is in the latter camp, and in his morning appearance on September 15th, the CNBC TV host discussed the recent discussions about AI being a threat:
"I had George Kurtz last night, who has partnered both with OpenAI and Anthropic. And he encouraged me to say look, they are doing a lot of things about safeguards. I think he was so much surprised, that there was so much doomsaying, of course, doomsaying being heavily refuted. Now there's a stock, remember that stock was up the most of any stock in the S&P."
While Cramer believes CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) will play an important role in cybersecurity in the AI era, the broader debate about the firm is about its AI-driven cybersecurity initiatives and whether they are sufficient to stay competitive and justify the eye-watering share price performance. On this front, the firm's annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew by 25% and net new ARR grew by 55% in its fiscal second quarter. Additionally, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s net new ARR set a new record of $333 million. Cramer's bullishness on the firm is also matched by others, such as ******* ysts from Argus. Argus has set a $425 share price target for CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) and argued that growth in agentic AI use presents a major tailwind for the firm.
Yet, in a classic case of the bigger you are, the harder you fall, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s massive growth creates risk. For its fiscal second quarter, the firm has guided net new ARR to range between $343 million and $347 million to imply growth ranging between 29% to 31%. Considering that the metric grew by 55% in Q1, the new figures do indicate a slowdown. As for catalysts from agentic AI, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s next-gen SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) ending ARR grew by 60% to $695 million in the second quarter.
Hedge fund interest in CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) grew in Q2. According to Insider Monkey's data, 89 out of 1,006 funds had held a stake in the firm during the period. This marked a jump over the 89 out of the 1,022 funds in Q1. As for valuation, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s forward P/E ratio of 188 is significantly higher than peer firm Palo Alto's 89 which should increase the pressure to maintain growth. Short interest as a percentage of float is 2.41% for CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) compared to 2.65% for Palo Alto.

SailPoint Inc. (NASDAQ:SAIL), a leading player within the enterprise identity security ****** e, recently expanded its strategic alliance with CrowdStrike. As part of the revised arrangement, the company's SailPoint SecOps Identity Intelligence will be integrated with CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM. This will help in expediting threat detection procedures, and will also incorporate access data and identity governance into the overall investigation process. The announcement aligns strongly with SailPoint's broader strategic narrative revealed in its Q2 FY27 print. It builds upon several recent initiatives undertaken by the management, such as introduction of the SailPoint Identity Security solution. This is aimed toward integrating SailPoint Agentic Fabric with SailPoint Human Fabric for real-time discovery and security of complex digital ecosystems. The company also launched its Cursor Enterprise connector, which helps organizations to leverage a highly-integrated control plane to manage human developers and autonomous AI agents.
The recently released financials also back this narrative as the company delivered a 25% year-over-year growth in its annual recurring revenue, which stood at $1.231 billion. SailPoint generated $45 million in operating cash flow during the second quarter, along with $37 million in free cash flow.
By weaving SailPoint's identity intelligence into Falcon Next-Gen SIEM, customers gain extra context inside workflows they already rely on, making it easier to probe identity-related risks. The integration augments SailPoint's position at a time when identity threats are on a rise. This leads to an opportunity for SailPoint to cement itself as a leading provider of advanced security solutions.

WASHINGTON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Democrats are seeking to reclaim Congress, but lingering divisions from a bruising run-up to the November election threaten to imperil the party's attempt to claw back power from President Donald Trump's Republicans.
With control of both chambers at stake, Democrats have sought to move past the bad blood of the primaries, but in several competitive states, influential party figures have withheld endorsements or so far declined to campaign with nominees for the November 3 US midterm elections.
In Maine, the governor has yet to endorse the Democratic US Senate candidate. In Texas, a congresswoman has declined to campaign alongside the state representative who defeated her in the Democratic Senate primary. In Michigan, establishment centrists are steering clear of the party's progressive Senate pick. In New York, victorious democratic socialists are criticizing congressional Democrats for joining Republicans in condemning socialism. In Florida, the party has yet to rally behind its Senate nominee.
"Whether you are a progressive or an establishment Democrat or a conservative Democrat, we all have a vested interest in getting every single person over the finish line in November," said US Representative Summer Lee, a progressive Pennsylvania Democrat up for reelection.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the cybersecurity landscape, and CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD) believes the threat is no longer theoretical. CEO George Kurtz recently described the situation as the "genie's out of the bottle," underscoring that AI capabilities are now widely available and can be exploited by attackers. CrowdStrike's 2026 Global Threat Report found that AI-enabled adversary activity surged 89% year-over-year, while the company has also observed attacks moving at machine speed.
Kurtz said AI agents should be secured like privileged users, with strict permissions, temporary credentials, and emergency shutdown capabilities, while humans retain control over critical decisions. He also urged AI companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI to work more closely with cybersecurity firms and independent evaluators to address emerging AI-related threats.

Oil prices have been on a wild ride this year, and most investors **** ume the story is simple: Less crude moving through the Strait of Hormuz means higher prices at the pump.
