Chad Baker-Mazara's departure from USC last spring came after head coach Eric Musselman went off on a "profanity-laced, racially-charged" tirade against him in the locker room, the former player is alleging in a new lawsuit.
Baker-Mazara filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Monday, according to the California Post, claiming that Musselman erupted on him after the team's loss to Nebraska on Feb. 28. Baker-Mazara and the Trojans split just days later. He is suing the university for breach of contract, conversion and intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, among other things.
Baker-Mazara left USC during the final stretch of the regular season last spring. Specifics of his departure weren't known, other than it was reportedly due to "an accumulation of issues," but the timing was very suspect. The announcement came on March 1, just days before the Trojans kicked off the Big Ten tournament.
Baker-Mazara transferred into USC from Auburn, and averaged career-highs 18.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
The incident in question, according to the lawsuit, happened after their loss to Nebraska on Feb. 28. Baker-Mazara said that Musselman started yelling at the team in the locker room. Baker-Mazara tried to address his teammates, and Musselman shut him down.

Former US CIA director David Petraeus was at a Ukrainian train station at the very moment a Russian drone struck a passenger train on Sunday, shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other foreign dignitaries had passed through.
Kyiv framed the attack as evidence of the increased threat Russia's Vladimir Putin poses to Europe, with Ukraine's rail operator saying it was "quite likely" a targeted attack.
The diplomatic train carrying Johnson, European security officials and other former leaders from Kyiv to Poland had made an early departure from Yahodyn station –– about two kilometers (1.2 miles) from the Polish border –– due to the "constant threat of Russian strikes," said Ukrainian Railways. It had already crossed into Poland by the time of the attack.
Petraeus was traveling on a separate train which was still at Yahodyn station, a Ukrainian Railways statement said. CNN has reached out to Petraeus for comment.
The rail operator said that while it was still clarifying details, it is "quite likely" that the Russian drone could have deliberately targeted the officials' train.

As Florida State prepares to visit Alabama football Saturday to complete the back end of a home-and-home series, its football coach, Mike Norvell, is firmly planted on the hottest seat in the ACC. As it turns out, however, athletics director Michael Alford's seat was even hotter.
The school fired Alford Monday after just four years on the job − he got less time than the most high-profile football coaches and less than Norvell himself. Alford's predecessor, David Coburn, had a four-year run of his own. Prior to that, Stan Wilcox lasted just five years in the role. One departure was a resignation, another a retirement, and the third a firing, but collectively, they represent a lot of administrative upheaval.
MOVING ON: Florida State AD Michael Alford fired after four years

Ole Miss football AD accuses Lane Kiffin of 'manipulating' players, coaches appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
With Lane Kiffin's departure from the Ole Miss football program to the LSU Tigers still talked about to this day, despite being two games in with his new team, there is no doubt about the ripple effects left by the coach. As the showdown between the Ole Miss football team and LSU comes underway this Saturday, the Rebels' athletic director Keith Carter kept it real on Kiffin's time with the school and his rocky exit.
Speaking to On3 Sports' Chris Low, Carter reflected on Kiffin's six years with the Rebels, as there's no denying the success that the controversial coach brought, totaling a 55-19 record and amassing four double-digit win seasons.
While Carter said that Kiffin was "good for us" during that time and emphasized the mutual relationship they had, his "problem" was trying to "manipulate the players and the coaches on his way out and work behind the scenes to hurt us."

Glentoran manager Declan Devine is set to leave the club amid the east Belfast outfit's poor start to the Irish Premiership season.
An agreement over his departure was reached on Monday with the Glens winless in their past three league games and sat eighth in the table with seven points from their opening six fixtures.
Devine's last game in charge was a frustrating 1-1 draw with Bangor at the Oval on Saturday and the full-time whistle was met by a chorus of boos from the home faithful.
Former Glens goalkeeper Devine took over at the 23-time league champions initially as interim boss in March 2024 after Warren Feeney was sacked.
He was given the role as permanent boss the following month and guided Glentoran to the County Antrim Shield in the 2024-25 season, their first trophy in five years.

Founded in 1977 and headquartered in South Korea, LX Pantos has grown into a global logistics provider spanning freight forwarding, contract logistics, e-commerce fulfillment, last-mile delivery and installation, and supply chain management consulting. The company now operates more than 380 locations worldwide with a workforce of approximately 8,500 employees, moving more than 1.6 million TEUs of ocean freight and over 120,000 tons of air freight annually. In 2025, LX Pantos recorded revenue of approximately $5.85 billion.
For President and CEO Lee Yong-ho, those figures mark a foundation rather than a destination.
"Since **** uming the role of CEO, I have set a clear vision for LX Pantos: to build the company into a 'Korea-born, global logistics company,' and we have been pursuing that goal with unwavering commitment," Lee said.
That vision marks a departure from the model that carried LX Pantos for decades on domestic corporate freight volumes.
"For many years, LX Pantos grew rapidly by leveraging freight volumes from domestic corporate customers. However, we have also recognized that growth driven primarily by the domestic market has its limitations," Lee said. "It is now time for LX Pantos to evolve into a truly global logistics company — one that is not confined to any single country or customer segment, but is capable of delivering comprehensive logistics solutions to customers worldwide."

Celtics rumors: Payton Pritchard contract extension could reach $22 million annually appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
On the heels of trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics could bet on Payton Pritchard to help fill the void left in the wake of the All-NBA forward's departure. Pritchard's expected to ascend following Brown's shocking exit, which should lead to a significant pay raise.
With two years left on his four-year, $30 million contract, Pritchard is in line for a hefty contract extension, according to Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.
"If you look at the salaries, Payton is next in line, and I think he's one of the league's bigger bargains," Washburn said. "He's making $7.7 [million] this year, $8.3 [million] in 27-28. He's due an extension that's going to be about $22 million a year. And I think it could be what he decides to produce this year, but I also think he has shown enough where you do give him that $22 million per year. That's still, in today's NBA, a very tradable contract.

The Manchester City squad is "buying into the idea" of new manager Enzo Maresca, says new captain Ruben Dias.
City spent a Premier League record £458m during the recent transfer window, with incomings including midfield trio Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
But there weren't only major changes to the playing squad. Maresca replaced the legendary Pep Guardiola, who stepped down at the end of last season after 10 years in charge.
Maresca was previously ******* istant to the Spaniard at Etihad Stadium, before spells at Leicester City and Chelsea.
Dias said Guardiola's departure was not an "easy moment for the club", while Maresca was the "perfect person for the job" as he "knew the house so well".

Led by Elliot Anderson, reloaded Man City midfield gets first chance to impress in Manchester derby originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Manchester City were one of the biggest spenders in the free-wheeling 2026 summer transfer window, as the Premier League side made a host of big-money moves ahead of the current season.
Always known as one of the most lavish clubs in the world with their transfer budget, they went especially big this summer as they looked to refurbish the squad in a period of transition after the departure of legendary manager Pep Guardiola.
The club mainly focused on the central midfield position, where multiple key players departed and an immediate refresh was needed to keep the club's levels up.
With the new players now slotting into their established roles and Enzo Maresca's system beginning to become evident, Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford is the perfect showcase for all the pieces to finally come together.

For the third consecutive offseason, Ohio State's coaching staff underwent a significant change as Ryan Day had to replace one of his coordinators.
And for the second consecutive time, Day looked to the NFL for an answer.
Following Brian Hartline's departure for a Group of Five head coaching opportunity, Day tabbed former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith to take over play-calling duties for a Buckeyes offense headlined by Heisman Trophy hopefuls Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith.
REQUIRED READING: Arthur Smith made his mark in a high-achieving family. Can he leave one at Ohio State?
Smith is the latest big name to come to Columbus to be part of Day's staff, following in the footsteps of former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly — a decision that kick-started this trend as it came when Day gave up his play-calling duties — and Matt Patricia, who willed the Buckeyes' defense into one of the nation's top units last season.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Austin Simmons threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, Robert Woodyard Jr. produced back-to-back second-half turnovers to help Missouri take control, and the No. 23 Tigers beat Kansas 38-21 on Friday night in the latest edition of the Border War.
Jamal Roberts ran for 125 yards and a touchdown, and Donovan Olugbode and Cayden Lee caught TD passes, helping the Tigers (2-0) beat their biggest rival for the fifth straight time in their first trip across the state line since Oct. 29, 2005.
It was tied 14-all early in the second half when Woodyard fell on Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall's fumble, and Simmons quickly found Olugbode for the go-ahead touchdown. On the Jayhawks' next offensive play, Woodyard faded into the secondary and was there to pick off Marshall's pass, setting up Xai'Shaun Edwards' touchdown run.
Marshall finished with 168 yards passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Jayhawks (1-1), who haven't beaten Missouri since Nov. 29, 2008. The sophomore quarterback also carried 20 times for just 23 yards.
Kansas jumped on the Tigers early, just as it did last season in Columbia, when a series that went on hiatus after the Tigers' departure for the SEC finally resumed after more than a decade. This time around, the Jayhawks capitalized on Missouri miscues: four false start penalties in the first half alone, blown blocking ****** ignments and two blocked field-goal attempts.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State University Board of Trustees officially approved Dan Bartholomae as the school's new athletic director during its meeting on Friday.
Bartholomae comes to MSU from Western Michigan University, where he was the athletic director since 2022.
"The future of college athletics will belong to institutions that embrace innovation while remaining grounded in their mission," MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D., said in a release "At Michigan State, that mission is clear: to provide our student-athletes with an experience that prepares them to compete at the highest levels, earn a world-class education and become leaders who make a difference long after their playing days are over. Dan shares that commitment and has the experience, vision and values to lead Spartan Athletics into its next era. We are excited to start this next chapter with him as our leader."
The terms of the contract are unclear. Bartholomae's August 2025 contract with Western Michigan includes a $5.1 million buyout, partly offset by a $3.95 million buyout Michigan State negotiated with Kentucky over J Batt's departure.
Western Michigan won 37 total conference championships and made 35 NCAA postseason appearances during Bartholomae's tenure, and its men's hockey team won the 2025 NCAA championship. He also had success as a fundraiser during his time in Kalamazoo, where he led record-breaking fundraising efforts. Michigan State in a previous news release highlighted that the average annual giving increased by 473% under his tenure, while the number of unique donors increased by 105%.

These are weird times for the 'Notorious' Conor McGregor.
The Irish sports star came into his bout with Max Holloway at UFC 329 in July with muted fanfare, as UFC tried its best not to give oxygen to McGregor's decade of past controversies. They did this despite their former champ-champ being found liable for rape in an Irish civil court in 2024.
Despite best efforts to present McGregor as his best self, the 38 year-old came into the Octagon looking old and tired. He blew his knee out on his first foray forward and was forced to fold in the middle of the cage, before a thoroughly bemused Holloway. The ACL injury he suffered that night required surgery and will mean another long wait before McGregor gets back in the fighting arena.
The Holloway fight was the penultimate bout on McGregor's UFC contract. Whether he gets another fight, and a chance at liberation, is up in the air.
Eddie Alvarez is one man who knows exactly how tough these kinds of situations can be. 'The Underground King' was subject of legal action from Bellator when he jumped ship to join UFC in 2014. All the stress of that departure was worth it in the end, though, with Alvarez winning the UFC Lightweight **** le two years later.

WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump departed Washington for Texas ‌on Wednesday aboard the Air Force One plane ‌gifted by Qatar after an emergency slide was accidentally deployed and was removed.
Military personnel accidentally triggered the slide, a person briefed on the matter told Reuters.
The slide was activated shortly before Trump was due to board for a flight to ‌Dallas for the first-ever Republican midterm convention. The issue briefly delayed Trump's departure.
Asked by a journalist whether he was sure that the plane was safe to fly, Trump said: "Yeah, I am, or I wouldn't be on it."

Rangers news: Jacob deGrom's strong start ends with concerning injury update appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Texas Rangers star pitcher Jacob deGrom pitched well on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners. However, he was removed after throwing 92 pitches through six innings, a decision that Rangers manager Skip Schumaker later said was due to an injury concern, via Kennedi Landry of MLB.com.
"Skip Schumaker said that Jacob deGrom was dealing with groin tightness through much of his start today. That's what the mound visit was about in the sixth and that's also why he didn't come back out for the seventh," Landry reported.
deGrom was indeed terrific while on the mound despite battling groin tightness throughout the outing. The veteran right-hander struck out 12 Mariners through six innings while allowing no runs and only one hit. Disaster struck following deGrom's departure from the contest, as Jakob Junis allowed four runs. The Rangers were defeated 4-3, a loss that dealt a blow to a team that is competing for a postseason spot.

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — A flight that was scheduled to carry Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Moldova to Norway earlier this week was delayed when authorities closed Moldova's airspace because of a drone incursion, a government spokesperson said.
Moldovan police said a Russian drone crashed on Tuesday in a sunflower field on the outskirts of a village in the district of Riscani, which caused four fires to break out but no injuries.
Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici said on Wednesday that Moldova had closed its airspace Tuesday afternoon to protect aircraft flying over the country at the time. The closure delayed three departures, including the flight carrying Zelenskyy.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre told broadcaster NRK that Zelenskyy's plane "was nearly hit by a drone as it took off from Moldova" on its way to Oslo for King Harald V's funeral. Zelenskyy arrived in Oslo on Tuesday and met Støre to discuss potential support for Ukraine's air defenses before attending the king's funeral on Wednesday.
Moldovan authorities confirmed the drone came down and exploded 160 kilometers (100 miles) from Chisinau International Airport. The airspace restrictions were lifted and Zelenskyy's plane took off later than scheduled.

Former LSU center Kate Koval is officially in the transfer portal and will be immediately eligible to compete after being granted a waiver, a source confirmed to The Athletic. The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak publicly about the situation.
Per NCAA rules, waivers to transfer outside of sport-specific transfer windows are granted only in an "exigent event outside the student-athlete's control unrelated to athletics opportunities or participation at their current institution that demands the student-athlete's immediate departure from the institution."
Koval, who was born and raised in Ukraine, recently said in an Instagram post that she was departing from LSU due to the Tigers' signing of Russian center Anna Minaeva, who had played for a professional team in Moscow. In late August, LSU had announced that Koval was leaving the program for "personal reasons."
"For me, this war is not distant or abstract," Koval wrote in her social media post. "People close to me have been killed and wounded in Russian attacks, and places where I grew up and first began playing basketball have been destroyed by missile strikes."
Koval's father serves in the Ukrainian military, which has been at war since Russia's 2022 invasion.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has created trillions of dollars' worth of value for some of America's largest organizations over the last few years, but not every company in this booming industry has been a winner. C3.ai (NYSE: AI) stock, for instance, is down 22% in 2026 (as of the market close last Friday, Sept. 4), as investors abandon ship over the company's declining revenue and steep losses.
Last September, C3.ai's founder, Thomas Siebel, stepped down from his role as CEO to focus on his health issues. Since he played a central role in the sales and customer relationship management processes, his departure led to a sharp decline in the company's revenue.

Princess Diana's iconic "revenge dress" could soon find a new owner.
More than 30 years after the late royal made fashion history in the black silk Christina Stambolian dress, the head-turning gown is headed to auction at Sotheby's.
Diana wore the dress to London's Serpentine Gallery on June 29, 1994, the same night her estranged husband, then-Prince Charles, publicly admitted to having an affair with his now-wife, Queen Camilla, in a nationally televised interview. The look went from simply being a daring dress to a statement-making piece, creating one of Diana's most famous fashion moments.
But as Sotheby's notes in its September 10 press release, the dress had been sitting in Diana's wardrobe for nearly three years before that unforgettable night. Commissioned in 1991 after Diana asked Stambolian for "something very special," the off-the-shoulder black silk design was a striking departure from the traditional royal wardrobe.

SpaceEx (SPCX) stock is on the move Thursday as investors sort through a number of headlines affecting the rocket-and-satellite company.
The most consequential came from The Information, which reported that ******* eX and CEO Elon Musk are overhauling how the company builds its data centers, a shift that could slow the pace of new construction.
According to the report, a new management team from the company's rocket division is prioritizing reliability over speed, installing more backup power and cooling systems, and testing data centers more thoroughly before they go live.
The change is a departure from what Musk and xAI (now part of ******* eX) used to build at its Colossus campus in Tennessee, where the AI unit brought its first data center online in just 122 days, a timeline Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang called "superhuman."
But that speed came with trade-offs like frequent outages, including a construction-related outage at the Memphis facility last week that knocked some Grok models offline and affected compute customers like Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) and Google (GOOG, GOOGL), The Information said.

After a disappointing 3-14 campaign in 2025, the Jets get their 2026 season underway on Sunday afternoon, as they travel to face their former head coach Robert Saleh and his Tennessee ***** ans.
Plenty of changes have been made during the offseason, with many of the main building blocks still in place. These changes are not guaranteed to be effective, though and, if they backfire, it won't be long until we hear the familiar refrain of "Same Old Jets" from fans and media.
Here are five storylines to watch during the regular season...
For Geno Smith to return to the Jets organization after a decade away is improbable enough; especially given the ignominious nature of his departure. However, what would it be like if he could actually succeed in his second act?
"That would be like a story in a movie, right?" Smith has said, "Kind of like one of those superhero movies."

Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough is stepping down at the end of October to join GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) in the same role, Reuters reported on August 27, just as Rivian ramps up production of its cheaper R2 SUV amid fragile U.S. EV demand.
McDonough will formally take the GE Vernova CFO seat on January 1, 2027, succeeding the retiring Ken Parks. Rivian said her exit is "not the result of any disagreement" and that she is relocating to the East Coast to be closer to family. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, led the company through its $13.7 billion IPO later that year, and helped structure its $5.8 billion Volkswagen Group joint venture. Derek Mulvey, Rivian's vice president of finance, will serve as interim CFO starting October 30 while the company runs a search for a permanent replacement. The news lands as Rivian scales the R2, its $45,000-to-$58,000 SUV that began customer deliveries in June, with the stock trading near $17, down more than 75% from its IPO price.
Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) keeps improving its business as it enters the next phase of its growth strategy. The company has started R2 deliveries, and management raised its annual delivery forecast last month as customers showed stronger interest in the lower-priced SUV. Rivian also continues to pursue profitability while growing its vehicle lineup. This is giving the company an opportunity to build a larger customer base through a more affordable model.
Rivian also has an experienced finance team that can maintain continuity after Claire McDonough's departure. McDonough will remain at Rivian through the end of October and help with the transition, while Vice President of Finance Derek Mulvey will take over as interim CFO. That arrangement gives Rivian time to search for a permanent replacement without forcing the company to manage an abrupt leadership gap during the R2 rollout.
GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) gains a finance chief with experience in capital-intensive businesses, fundraising and cost management. McDonough helped Rivian take its business public, lead cost-cutting efforts and raise capital during its expansion. Those skills could benefit GE Vernova as the company expands its Power and Electrification businesses and manages rising demand for energy infrastructure.

Kate Middleton is reportedly encouraging Prince William to let their children build a relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's kids. The change in approach comes as the Sussexes settle back in England. The move has brought the cousins closer than they have been in years.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's children reportedly did not meet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children during the Sussexes' recent U.K. visit. But according to a source speaking to Closer, Kate now believes the situation could become harder to avoid. The source claims Kate has told William that the children should have the chance to know their cousins.
When Archie and Lilibet lived across the Atlantic, the distance made contact easier to avoid, the insider said. With Harry and Meghan now spending more time in Britain, however, that separation could become much more difficult to maintain. Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet reportedly arrived in Birmingham, England, by private jet on Tuesday, August 26. The reported situation could also affect how William and Kate explain the family rift to their own children.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have grown up hearing about the importance of family relationships, according to the source. The insider believes the children may eventually struggle to understand why they remain distant from their Sussex cousins. "It's going to be very difficult to explain and justify" the estrangement, the source claimed. The insider added that William and Kate have always stressed the importance of getting along. That could make the ongoing divide even harder to explain now that Harry and Meghan live much closer.
The reported olive branch does not mean Kate expects William to erase everything that happened between the brothers. Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in 2020. The couple later spoke publicly about their experience within the royal family and released their Netflix docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," which explored the tensions surrounding their departure.

The Denver Nuggets went through a tough August concerning one of their key players from last season, while another talking point has emerged about whether they may have overpaid Christian Braun instead of retaining another player.
Peyton Watson is no longer a Nugget after completing a sign-and-trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He signed a four-year, $88 million contract, which is well within the range of what he had been demanding from his previous team.
The Nuggets tried their best to keep him. However, their financial situation was not ideal, leaving them with their hands tied. They are the only team in the league in the second apron, making it seemingly impossible to meet Watson's contract demands.
The Nuggets had already made a major commitment before Watson's departure. In October 2025, they signed Braun to a five-year, $125 million extension.

There's a new Mo Salah on the scene and he is destined to join Liverpool.
It was an eyebrow raising decision not to replace the Egyptian star this summer. Salah's departure has left a void in the squad but looking back it was definitely a necessary move.
Ultimately, Liverpool had moved away from relying on their former talisman. Salah is still a supreme footballer. However, long-term Liverpool need to look ahead to the future.
That future is now represented by Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola alongside a myriad of supporting cast players who are young and hungry and determined to make an impression on the first-team.
It's an exciting direction, especially with Andoni Iraola at the helm.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Isaac Konde from Liverpool, with Fabrizio Romano on X reporting the deal. For Liverpool, it is a frustrating departure. For United, it is another example of a clear academy recruitment strategy focused on securing elite teenage talent before pathways become more established elsewhere.
Konde is highly regarded in youth circles and has built a strong reputation as an explosive attacking player. He is most effective from the left, although his flexibility across the front line is understood to be a major part of his appeal. He can play from either flank and also through the middle, which makes him a valuable profile for any academy structure looking to develop adaptable forwards.
The 16-year-old featured for Liverpool Under-18s last season, but his next step will now come at Manchester United, where he is expected to begin with the Under-18s setup. From United's perspective, the move aligns closely with the wider approach being shaped at academy level, an area viewed internally as central to both sporting progress and long-term value creation.
That context matters. United have placed increasing emphasis on attracting top prospects from around the country, and Konde's arrival fits squarely within that model. He joins a system that already contains major young attacking talent, including JJ Gabriel, and his addition is likely to raise standards and competition in the age group immediately.
For Liverpool, losing a promising young attacker to a domestic rival will sting. Academy football can be unpredictable, and not every prospect reaches senior level, but clubs still work hard to retain the ones viewed as having genuine upside. Konde clearly falls into that category, and this is the kind of move that will be noticed closely by those tracking youth development at both clubs.
