DeSoto (Texas) football was on the wrong end of a 38-14 beatdown on Saturday to open its 2026 season. The Eagles traveled to Florida for a top-25 national tilt against St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) in the Broward County Classic High School Football Showcase.
The matchup already carried plenty of juice as it pitted one of Texas' top programs against one of Florida's. DeSoto, however added some fuel to the fire once the teams met at midfield before kickoff in Fort Lauderdale.

St. Thomas Aquinas players went to shake the hands of the visitors, but they wanted no part, stonewalling the Raiders for a few seconds before each team made their way back to their respective sidelines.
