SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Devon Dampier threw for three touchdowns, Wayshawn Parker had the first three-touchdown game of his career and No. 21 Utah routed Idaho 66-14 coach Morgan Scalley's regular-season debut.
After 21 years at Utah, Kyle Whittingham moved to Michigan to make way for Scalley, the previous defensive coordinator who coached Utah's win over Nebraska last season in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Parker ran for 71 yards had two touchdown receptions and a 21-yard TD run, where he shed several tacklers, all in the first half.
Dampier, who was hampered by injuries last season, looked nimble and was accurate (13 for 18) except for some long-distance throws. He sat after the first drive of the second half — with Utah leading 38-7 — but still had 176 yards passing and 31 yards rushing while staying clean in the pocket.
Transfer wide receiver Braden Pegan dazzled with the hands and his feet — scoring on a 7-yard reception and a 12-yard end around. Backup QB Byrd Ficklin threw for 93 yards and two TDs and ran for 70 yards.

As Utah begins the Morgan Scalley era, optimism is high in the football facility.
There are many unknowns as the Utes embark on the 2026 season. How will the rebuilt offensive line and defensive line fare? Can Kevin McGiven's offense reach the highs of Jason Beck's? As head coach, how will Scalley manage the whole team (not just the defense), make critical in-game decisions like whether to go for it on fourth down, and handle the ***** ps in the road that inevitably pop up during a college football season? How will Colton Swan do as defensive coordinator?
In spite of all of the unknowns, Utah is still considered in contention for a spot in the Big 12 championship game, though solidly behind Texas Tech and BYU in the eyes of the oddsmakers, thanks to returning quarterback Devon Dampier, running back Wayshawn Parker, a wide receiver room that could be the best Utah has had in a while and returning starters in the secondary and at linebacker.
How does the 2026 schedule stack up for the Utes?

Utah's Devon Dampier is one of the better returning quarterbacks in college this season, with ESPN Bill Connelly ranking Dampier the No. 12 quarterback in college football and Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic pegging him at No. 22 in the country.
After a season that saw Dampier throw for 2,490 yards and 24 touchdowns and rush for 835 yards and 10 scores, all while playing through a sports hernia and ankle injury for much of the season, there is reason for Utah fans to be excited with the senior quarterback's return to Salt Lake City.
Adam Rittenberg of ESPN recently spoke to coaches, coordinators and general managers, who were granted anonymity to speak freely about some of the top quarterbacks in each conference.
One Big 12 defensive coordinator said, "I'm a big fan of Dampier; he's legit."
In a step up in competition from New Mexico, Dampier proved to be exactly what the Utes needed at the quarterback position in 2025. Dampier arrived at Utah with offensive coordinator Jason Beck, and the pairing helped the Utes score 41.2 points per game and gain 482.9 yards per contest, marks that ranked No. 4 in the country.

In one-quarterback leagues, and even in Superflex formats, the quarterback pool is quite plentiful compared to their NFL counterparts. From a sheer numbers perspective, there are 68 teams comprising the Power Four player pool (with Notre Dame), with just 12 signal-callers starting on any given week (up to 24 in Superflex).
Your eight bench spots thin out quickly, which compels managers to churn through players on bye weeks and in time shares. In the standard 1QB format, rostering two quarterbacks seems to be the sweet spot from a roster construction standpoint in 1QB leagues, so as to not leave yourself short on RB /WR depth. The ability to stream waiver wire pickups who are facing poor defenses make the high-end quarterbacks valuable and the middle-to-lower tier easily replaceable
You will want to roster four QBs in Superflex leagues if possible, so expanding rosters to 20 players with a 10-man bench is advised. Utilizing a two-quarterback rotation in a Superflex format is not going to suffice with bye weeks, schedule quirks and injuries looming. Ideally a 4QB construction will allow you the flexibility to play matchups and still be covered in case an unexpected change of circumstances arises.

Your draft approach will vary depending on whether you play Superflex or 1QB formats. In standard Yahoo 1QB leagues I wouldn't take any signal-caller except Arch in the top-50. For the top-100 and I'd expand that list to Trinidad Chambliss, Devon Dampier and Drew Mestemaker, in that order. Keep in mind the 4-point passing touchdown format greatly depreciates the efficacy of pass-only, pro style quarterbacks. So I wouldn't make the mistake of reaching for Dante Moore within the first 10 rounds when you can take a dual-threat with 25 FPPG potential later on.

While she was once a senior working royal and part of the King's inner circle, Sarah Ferguson has not been seen publicly with the monarch in nearly a year. However, the former ******* ss of York could be planning to reconnect with the monarch, a royal author claims.
Sarah's last official public appearance alongside the King was at the late ******* ss of Kent's funeral on 16 September 2025. Since then, the former ******* ss and her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have retreated from public life amid renewed scrutiny over their links to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
But according to royal expert Phil Dampier, Sarah "will want to try and get back in with the King for the sake of her daughters", Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. Sarah and Andrew's grown-up daughters have not completely retreated from public life, but have kept a very low profile amid the controversy surrounding their parents.

The author told the Daily Mail that the former ******* ss would want to "at least not upset" the monarch.

FRISCO, Texas — Though he's been a college coach for nearly two decades, Morgan Scalley did something Wednesday that he had never done before.
He took the mic as head coach at a football media days event, representing his Utah team on the podium at The Star, the practice facility of the Dallas Cowboys, at Big 12 media days.
Scalley sounded like a consummate pro.
Whether it was talking about the culture of his Utes program, his journey to becoming a head coach or commenting on his star players such as quarterback Devon Dampier, Scalley explored several topics with the media.
Watch some of the best clips from his session in the video above.

Michigan football should look quite a bit different and the same entering the 2026 season. While the stylistic identity of the Wolverines isn't really changing, as they'll play from the inside out -- with attempts to dominate in the trenches, run the football, and be staunch defensively -- there could be more fireworks from Kyle Whittingham's team compared to Jim Harbaugh or Sherrone Moore's tenures. Thus, it will be interesting to see what the maize and blue get from the skill positions, particularly on offense.
Much of the hopes of the season are pinned on quarterback Bryce Underwood, who had a decent but shaky freshman campaign. Though some are already writing him off, he has a new offensive coordinator in Jason Beck, who has a track record of maximizing his production at the position.
The Athletic detailed its favorite move of the offseason for every Power Four team, and for the maize and blue, it wasn't any transfer or even the head coach who earned a mention -- it was Beck coming to Ann Arbor.
Michigan: Hiring Jason Beck as OC
The Wolverines held onto their top-15 recruiting class, including five-star running back Savion Hiter, during the tumultuous Sherrone Moore situation and ensuing coaching change. That was obviously important, but Beck’s decision to follow Kyle Whittingham to Michigan is a bigger deal. Beck did a very good job last year with QB Devon Dampier at Utah, and I’m betting he’s going to unlock all of Bryce Underwood’s talents.
