Henderson was not participating in the Patriots' practice today, according to reporters on the scene. Henderson hurt his ankle during practice on August 24 and hasn't practiced since.

Following their preseason finale on Thursday, the New England Patriots received a needed weekend off as the front office dwindled the roster down to 53 players.
That group was back at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday for their first regular season practice in preparation for the Seattle Seahawks.
As they did, they remained without running back TreVeyon Henderson after the second-year back suffered an ankle injury early last week. Henderson was present in the locker room in good spirits and walking normally, but has not yet fully been cleared to return to work.
The only other non-participant on the roster was tight end Cameron Latu, who was claimed off of waivers on Monday. Latu was in the locker room ahead of practice after just arriving to the team.

The Houston Texans traded for Kayshon Boutte this week with hopes that he will be a solid No. 2 receiver for them behind Nico Collins. That's why it was a little shocking to hear Mike Vrabel say Thursday night that if the New England Patriots hadn't dealt Boutte, he likely wouldn't have seen the field for them because of their improved depth at the position.
Boutte's 33 receptions last season was fifth on the Patriots squad, although two of the players ahead of him were tight end Hunter Henry and running back TreVeyon Henderson. His 551 yards was third on the team and his six touchdown catches was second. Still, in the offseason, the Patriots traded for three-time Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown and signed former Packers receiver A.J. Doubs as a free agent. Those two are going to be New England's top options at receiver with DeMario Douglas also expected to get plenty of time. The backups are Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams, who both play special teams, something Boutte hasn't done since he entered the league in 2023.

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson suffered an injury scare during Monday's practice, when he reportedly slipped on the turf during a cut.
He left the practice session early after what looked like an ankle injury.
On Tuesday, Boston Globe Sports' Christopher Price revealed that Henderson suffered a right ankle injury and had "precautionary tests" done. However, the good news for the Patriots is that the second-year running back is "walking and moving fine."
"According to a league source, TreVeyon Henderson is getting some "precautionary tests" done on his right ankle, but is walking and moving fine. Described as a lower ankle issue he sustained after slipping on the turf during practice Monday," Price wrote.
When speaking with media members, Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf confirmed that Henderson would not practice on Tuesday.

The New England Patriots held a team scrimmage on Friday, and rookie running back Myles Montgomery had the play of the day.
Patriots quarterback Tommy DeVito threw a pass that was intended for wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer. Palmer bobbled the pass, but luckily, Montgomery was there to save it. He came running up the sideline, caught the bobbled pass and took it almost 50 yards. The hand-to-eye coordination was almost as impressive as his awareness on the play.
Montgomery completed what is easily the play of the summer (so far) as the Patriots are in the thick of an exciting two weeks of training camp. The Patriots released a highlight reel of plays, and Montgomery's catch comes up as the third play in the video.
Montgomery will have to work hard to stand out in a crowded running back room.
However, plays like the one he had in the scrimmage go a long way in helping him accomplish that goal. Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson already have the top two running back spots locked up. So training camp will essentially crown the No. 3 option. So far, Terrell Jennings, Lan Larison and Jam Miller appear to be the top contenders.

How does the New England Patriots’ running back room compare to the other offensive backfields in the NFL heading into next season?
According to Sharp Football **** ysis in their running back rankings for all 32 NFL teams for the 2026 season, the Patriots’ unit was ranked No. 10 overall.
“We were all over the map in our ranking of the Patriots' backfield, with votes ranging from fifth to 17th,” the Sharp football staff wrote. “The differing opinions might stem from the stark contrast of TreVeyon Henderson’s and Rhamondre Stevenson’s success in the regular season compared to their combined 3.3 yards per carry in the playoffs.”
