Brown, who has a high-ankle sprain, will not be eligible to return until missing at least four games. He will not play against the Steelers, Jaguars, Bills and Raiders.
Brown caught three passes for 26 yards and drew a 34-yard pass interference penalty that set up the team's lone touchdown in the loss to the Seahawks.
Veteran Mack Hollins and second-year WR Kyle Williams are the next players up at the X receiver spot.

New England is signing veteran defensive tackle DaQuan Jones to a one-year contract worth up to $6 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The deal includes a $3.5 million base salary.
Jones becomes the sixth former Bills player currently with the Patriots, joining fullback Reggie Gilliam, wide receiver Mack Hollins, offensive lineman Greg Van Roten, tight end Shane Zylstra and punter Mitch Wishnowsky.
Zylstra and Wishnowsky were released by the Bills as part of final roster cuts two weeks ago and are on New England's practice squad.

The competitive field to build out the tech infrastructure to ease the use of alternative investments in the wealth channel just got a little more crowded as New York-based fintech Aqua announced a $18.8 million Series A to back what it's calling a turnkey alternative investments platform.
The AI-native platform seeks to be a single solution that brings fund creation, operational workflows, investment lifecycle management, marketplace access, document intelligence and investor servicing into a single environment. In addition to managing off-the-shelf private market funds, advisors using Aqua can build special purpose vehicles, registered funds, fund of funds and feeder funds.
The $15 million Series A, led by Arthur Ventures with participation from Alumni Ventures, follows a 2021 $3.8 million seed round backed by Google's AI Fund, Y Combinator. It plans to use the funding to accelerate business and platform development, expand its engineering and partnership teams, and deepen integrations across custodians and fund sponsors. (The firm started as a team of six, but now has two dozen employees and it plans to continue to staff up as it onboards more advisors and fund managers.)
To be sure, Aqua is far from alone in attempting to streamline the alternative investments process. The **** e continues to be led by well-known players iCapital and CAIS, which service thousands of wealth firms through their marketplaces, and each has continued to add tech to support the lifecycle of alternative investments. Firms including SUBSCRIBE, Canoe, Gridline, Allocate, Alto, Arch, Opto, GLAS Funds, Altigo/SEI and Apex Alts also compete in the area, focusing on streamlining all aspects of the investment process. In addition, traditional TAMPs like InvestCloud, Envestnet, Orion, Addepar and Black Diamond have made enhancements to support private markets.

Less-than-truckload carrier Saia saw tonnage growth accelerate on a year-over-year comparison in August, but it faced an easier prior-year comp during the month than it did in July.
Johns Creek, Georgia-based Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) reported Thursday an 8.7% y/y tonnage increase in August as daily shipments stepped 1.1% higher and weight per shipment jumped 7.5%. The metrics improved slightly from July's y/y growth rates due to easier prior-year comps.
On a two-year-stacked comparison, Saia's tonnage increases slowed for a second straight month (+6.5% in August and +8.7% in July). That said, the carrier implemented a 7.1% general rate increase on July 6, which it noted can create some near-term volatility. Further, the carrier faces easier prior-year comps (excluding November) the rest of the year.
Saia does not provide revenue-based metrics in its intraquarter updates.
However, the company previously noted that revenue per shipment increased 4% from the beginning to the end of the second quarter. The recent GRI was 120 basis points higher and three months earlier than last year's rate ***** p—another positive sign. And, contractual rate renewals averaged 10.7% in the second quarter (+15.8% on a two-year-stacked comp).

She succeeds Zach Rayce, who departed after two seasons to become the aquatic director and head coach at Indian Creek High School.
"Jennifer Brinegar is one of the most accomplished names in the history of Indiana swimming, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Franklin College," Griz athletic director Lance Marshall said in a press release Tuesday, Sept. 1. "Her championship pedigree, years of coaching success and her deep roots in this state's swimming community make her the ideal person to lead our program into its next chapter. Our student-athletes are going to learn from someone who has competed and coached at the highest level, and that's a tremendous opportunity for Griz athletics."
Brinegar attended Bloomington South High School before moving to Louisville, Kentucky to train and find more competition. Girls swimming was not offered as a competitive sport by the IHSAA in 1974-75.
She made the 1976 U.S. Olympic team as a 15-year-old and made the final in the women's 200-meter freestyle while also swimming in a preliminary heat for the gold-medal winning 400 free relay. She went on to win a pair of national championships in 1977, a gold medal in the 400 free relay at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships and a silver in the 800 free at the 1979 Pan American Games.

Yesterday, the Vikings snagged a pair of newcomers. Consider what the team's official social media had to say: "The #Vikings have signed TE Cam Grandy and DL Naquan Jones to the practice squad. TE Marshall Lang has been released from the practice squad."
Note that Minnesota went into these decisions with an open spot on the practice squad. As a result, going +2 with new players alongside just a -1 made the math work.
In Cam Grandy, the Vikings are welcoming a tight end who boasts good size. He's a sturdy 6'5″ and 253 pounds (but a spot like PFF lists him as being a touch larger, coming in at 260 on there). Several times over the past few weeks since getting promoted to High-A, members of the Eugene Emeralds staff have provided gentle reminders to Cam Maldonado that he was closing in on a 20-20 season.

CHICAGO (AP) — A beluga whale died days after it was transported hundreds of miles to a Chicago aquarium from a shuttered Ontario park as part of an ongoing effort to rescue Canada's last captive whales.
The whale, a 23-year-old female named Peekachu, died suddenly Tuesday as caretakers tried to rehydrate her, Chicago's Shedd Aquarium said in a news release. Peekachu was one of eight whales moved from Marineland park in Ontario to the Chicago aquarium this summer — four in July, and four more this month.
Marineland shut its doors in 2024, kicking off a race to find new homes for its 30 beluga whales and four dolphins before they would be euthanized. The Canadian government finally approved a plan to export the whales to the Shedd Aquarium and four other marine parks in January.
Twenty whales — 19 belugas and one killer whale — have died at Marineland since 2019, according to provincial government data obtained through freedom-of-information laws and official statements.
The complex operation to bring the whales to the Shedd Aquarium saw them hoisted in custom-made slings and held in temperature-controlled containers, aquarium officials previously told The ****** ociated Press. Their behavior and health were carefully monitored to the minute once they arrived, officials said.

CHICAGO (AP) — Four more belugas have arrived at a Chicago aquarium as part of a plan to move Canada's last remaining captive whales from a shuttered theme park to aquariums in the United States and Spain.
The four whales, named Caspian, Peekachu, Rain and Secord, were the second group of belugas sent to Chicago's Shedd Aquarium from Marineland, in Ontario near Niagara Falls, after an initial four arrived in July.
They are among a total of 30 whales and four dolphins that will be transported from Marineland after the Canadian government approved of the rescue plan, which might have saved them from mass euthanasia.
Marineland announced in early 2023 that it was for sale and closed to the public in late summer 2024. Twenty whales — 19 belugas and one killer whale — have died at Marineland since 2019, according to provincial government data obtained through freedom-of-information laws and official statements.
As part of the rescue efforts, the whales have been making their international trips in custom-built slings and temperature-controlled transport containers. A team of experts flew to Canada to meet the whales' previous caretakers months prior and pored over years of their health records in preparation for the trip.

Italy's Sara Curtis set a new world record in the women's 50-meter backstroke Wednesday at the European Aquatics Championships, finishing in 26.63 seconds in the event's semifinals to lower the mark by nearly a quarter of a second.
Australia's Kaylee McKeown owned the previous mark of 26.86, set in Budapest, Hungary, in October 2023. McKeown, the United States' Katharine Berkoff and Curtis have all threatened the record since. Curtis clocked 27.07 seconds in June, tied for the ninth-best time ever for the race.

The European championships are the biggest event of the year for the continent's swimmers. The Pan-Pacific Championships — featuring the U.S., Canada, Australia and more — begin Wednesday night in Irvine, Calif. The next World Aquatics Championships meet is in July 2027.

Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson revealed that new FA acquisition Coby Bryant will be out for 4-6 months after having surgery this past Friday on his knee. The injury occurred on the first day of padded practices when Bryant went up against Cole Kmet and came down awkward after getting tangled up with the 6'6", 257 tight end.
Devastating news considering Bears GM Ryan Poles let 2025 starters Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker walk in free agency. To make matter worse, Bryant was Chicago's highest paid FA addition this summer – inking a 3 year $40 million deal – choosing to add to the back seven of the defense with Bryant and linebacker Devin Bush instead of making a big splash up front on the DL.
Good thing Poles landed safety Dillon Thieneman in the first round so the position isn't completely devoid of blue-chip talent. Hopefully the rookie and newcomer Xavier Woods continue to settle in opposite each other and the front seven can pressure the opposing QB, or else we may be in for some more shootouts this season.

The 31-year-old, who has 16 European Championships golds, had previously never lost a heat, semi-final or final at the event.
Olympic champion Nicolo Martinenghi won the race in 58.58 seconds, with Ivan Kozhakin finishing second and Italy's Simone Cerasuolo third.
Ramsay-Peaty finished 0.01secs and one place ahead of Great Britain team-mate Filip Nowacki.
The three-time Olympic champion, who is the 100m ****** troke world record holder, said "nothing makes sense" after a disappointing Commonwealth Games last month, where he won two bronze medals.

After three back-to-back high-glam press tours (Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey), I'm sure Anne Hathaway was happy to take her foot off the gas for the more laid-back affair that was The End of Oak Street world premiere, held at the Steven J. Ross Theater in Burbank, California, on Sunday.

We have a high-low situation going on here in more ways than one, with a celestial-blue custom Atelier Prabal Gurung sculptural halter top with a cascading train, paired with oversized jeans.
As much as the red Aquazzura pumps and matching lip connect with the vivid-crimson silk lining of the top, I do wish the piece had been celestial blue throughout. The contrast feels slightly unnecessary to me, although it doesn't kill the look.
And then we get to the jeans. I love the low rise, especially with the cropped shape of the top framing her ***** p. It gives the maternity look a modern edge, but I think the jeans would have served it better had they not been quite so long or wide. There is already so much volume coming from that incredible train that the extra fabric pooling around her feet feels like too much.
