Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has challenged Savio to score between 10 and 12 goals this season after the winger marked his debut with two goals in Spurs' 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Charlton.
Savio enjoyed a dream start to his Tottenham career, with De Zerbi pleased to see the Brazilian make an immediate impact in front of goal.
However, the Spurs boss believes increasing his goalscoring output is the biggest area in which the winger can improve.
"It was a perfect day for him," De Zerbi said.
"I think his biggest step, his biggest improvement is to increase the number of goals.

The new styles of shoes that are coming out from brands across the board — whether it be Nike, whether it be Adidas, whether it be On, HOKA — we are going through that reset right now."

A four-star recruit out of Marshall, Texas, Williams spent five years with the Horned Frogs and finished his career with 1,655 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 137 receptions. His best season came in 2024, when he brought in a career-high 60 catches for 611 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 322 yards and six more touchdowns out of the "Wildfrog" formation. Williams improved over each of his five seasons at TCU, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mentions over both the 2023 and 2024 campaigns. He was invited to the Senior Bowl.
Elarms-Orr transferred to TCU after starting his career at California, where he was named an All-Pac 12 Second Team selection. For the Horned Frogs, Elarms-Orr rotated in during the 2024 season and became a starter the following season. We are delighted to announce the signing of Sávio from Manchester City ✍️
The Brazilian winger, who will wear #17 (which fits nicely with his move to N17), has transferred from Manchester City for a reported £75 million plus £10 million add-ons. It's a hefty fee for a promising talent, but one that is supposedly offset by some transfer shenanigans around a double signing from City, with Omar Marmoush the second player reportedly joining for a lower fee to offset a sell-on clause inserted by Eintracht Frankfurt in his shift to City.
It's a big signing for Spurs. The Lilywhites have been in desperate need of quality in attack, and have arguably over-invested in late-peak players this summer who are unlikely to develop further. Savinho, or Savio, is somebody who is still early in his career and will have the ability to grow and develop in the coming seasons… at least that's the hope. And he's already a pretty decent player!

Jurassic World star Pratt, 47, is among the few Hollywood A-listers who have spoken openly about their Christian faith. He and Faris, 49, married in 2009 and welcomed Jack in 2012 before divorcing in 2017.
"[Jack] is religious. I didn't grow up with religion. He's asked me to accept Jesus Christ [as my savior]," Faris said of her son on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast this week.
"And I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it's going to take a whole lot of long conversations."
Faris described Jack as "solid as a tugboat emotionally" and "doesn't get easily jarred," which means she is able to "challenge him."

Under the new coaching staff at Michigan State, the Spartans got their recruiting started with Massillon (OH) running back Savior Owens. Owens, who made his pledge the first of the new coaching staff's tenure, remains the only running back committed in the 2027 recruiting class.
On Friday, Owens got his high school season stated at Washington High School. In a game against Glenville, a 31-18 win for Massillon, Owens ran the ball 26 times for 180 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to a win.

LexisNexis Dragons have changed almost a third of their squad as they bid to improve on fifth place in Netball Super League (NSL).
Head coach Reigna Bloxham has signed New Zealanders Saviour Tui (goal shooter), Holly Mather (centre, wing defence), along with former England Under-21 captain Phoebe Maslen (centre, wing defence).
They replace Wales international Phillipa Yarranton who is retiring, South African mid-courter Khanyisa Chawane who has departed after three seasons, and Ellen Withington who was signed as a permanent replacement player during 2026.
Having finished bottom of NSL in 2025, Dragons fell only three points short of making the end of season play-offs in this year's campaign.
Fifth in the eight-team league represented the Welsh franchise's best finish since 2014.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Savion Williams had an understated rookie season, and after a quiet start to training camp ahead of Year 2, it looked like he was in danger of slipping through the cracks.
A unique wide receiver at 6-4, 220 pounds, the Packers mostly used him as a gadget player as a rookie, finding creative ways to put the ball in his hands a couple of times per game. He had 11 rushing attempts to only 10 targets, and his average depth of target was just 1.2 yards.
That tracked with how he was often utilized in college, but the results from scrimmage and as a return man on special teams were mixed during his first year as a pro. He was not helped by multiple injuries, including a shoulder issue he dealt with in training camp, and later a foot injury he played through.
There was a risk that Williams could be one of the classic players who is a favorite of scouts, who see his freakish size, athleticism, and potential versatility, but coaches do not quite know what to do with.

Cy-Hawk week comes early. Iowa State rolls into Kinnick in week two on September 12 with a new head coach, a new roster and back-to-back Cy-Hawk wins. The Hawkeyes will no doubt have a chip on their shoulder and be looking for their first win in Kinnick in the series since 2018 (yes, really). Let's break it down.
The 2025 Cyclones went 8-4 overall, 5-4 in the Big 12. By most measures it was a successful year. Iowa State opened the season with a marquee international game victory, defeating #17 Kansas State 24-21 in Dublin to win Farmageddon. They proceeded to make it back-to-back wins in the Cy-Hawk with a 16-13 win over the Hawkeyes in Ames. That's enough for most ISU fans to call it a successful year.
But the Cyclones hit a major drought, dropping four straight games in the middle of the year, including in their only other game against a ranked opponent vs #11 BYU at home. They finished the regular season with road wins over TU and Oklahoma State with a bowl opportunity awaiting them at season's end.
Then everything hit the fan in Ames.
ISU's ten-year leader and virtual savior of the program, Matt Campbell, accepted the Penn State head coaching job on December 5. Mowi Premiership leaders Newtonmore were shocked by second-bottom Col Glen in a goalless draw at Clachan of Glendaruel.

A few talking points on the starting lineup. The big news was a first start for Hayden Hackney. The other talking point for the team was the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite. It was reported that this was as part of his planned reintegration into the squad. Tyler Dibling and Mykolenko return and Jake O'Brien started on the bench. David Moyes was starting with his favourite 4-2-3-1 with Beto up top.
A lovely night in Stoke with Everton in their all blue kits. Everton were immediately on the front foot and a nice bit of interplay only broke down when Dewsbury-Hall ****** ed a ball into the box and it was easily handled by the Stoke keeper. Interestingly, it looked like Dibling was playing at right ack with Hackney in front of him.
An early corner was recycled by the Blues and when it fell to George, he laced a shot just narrowly wide of the post. A very good start from the boys in blue. Stoke tried to slow the game down and get on the ball but Everton were pressing high. When George intercepted a pass, his pass was slightly overhit for Dibling.
Everton went off the boil and some lax defending by Tarkowski allowed Gallagher in on Travers but a great leg save denied the home team. It was then Everton's turn to hold onto the ball. It was all a little scrappy. Beto did some fighting for the ball in the middle of the park with no end product. A nice ove down the right side saw Rohl deliver a nice cross but no one was there when the keeper spilled the ball.
The interplay on the left side between KDH and George was really good. However, Travers was the saviour again as Thomas drilled another shot on the goal. Everton were then hanging on as Stoke delivered cross after cross.

Unlike other blue bloods, Michigan doesn't often reel in high five-star prospects. For every Rashan Gary and Bryce Underwood, there are classes without a single five-star in it that are developed into powerhouse football teams. The class of 2026 is the former, as Michigan brought in two five-stars this offseason in Savion Hiter and Carter Meadows. Meadows has the makings of a star, but will need some time to get ready for Big Ten action.
Meadows hails from Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., one of the more well-known powerhouse high school programs. In fact, he was high school teammates with fellow Wolverine Kainoa Winston, and Evan Link also attended Gonzaga. In high school, Meadows was 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds. He possesses a frame that NFL scouts tend to drool over out of an edge rusher.
Naturally, a high schooler with elite athleticism and an NFL frame coming from a national powerhouse of a school was bound to get attention nationally. Meadows received offers from just about every major program, with 247Sports listing 29 offers. Carter made four official visits — South Carolina, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan, in that order.
In typical fashion, Carter's recruitment came down to Michigan and Ohio State. While certain sites may try to convince you the Buckeyes weren't going all in on Meadows, that would be incorrect. Meadows committed to Michigan, as Lou Esposito and company were able to close on Meadows, and Kyle Whittingham and the new staff were able to retain him.

CHICAGO — When it comes to promoting nostalgia, no one does it quite like the Chicago Blackhawks.
So it’s not surprising the Hawks would bring back franchise legend Patrick Kane at 37 to re-create memories of the three-time Stanley Cup champions of the 2010s, pairing him with the next franchise savior — Connor Bedard — through the 2027-28 season.
Of course, any resemblance between those teams and the current edition of the Hawks is coincidental, and you don’t need AI to make a 37-year-old Kane look much different from his 19-year-old self.
Kane signed a two-year deal Thursday with an annual average of $8 million, which reminds us of his number, 88. It’s seen by many as overpaying for a player whose best years are in the past, but considering the marketing aspect for the Hawks, it’s probably worth every penny.
Word of the signing spread quickly, almost as though it was part of a well-planned advertising campaign. It seemed like the perfect time for the club to arrange a pre-season friendly in Dublin, where Sunderland would take on Shelbourne FC, and on a sunny midweek evening in the Irish capital, hundreds of Sunderland supporters, — including this writer — made the journey from both near and far to Tolka Park on Dublin's north side.
Having just suffered relegation in humiliating circumstances, the timely announcement of Niall Quinn's takeover from Bob Murray added a level of excitement to a fixture that otherwise would've been viewed as little more than a routine summer friendly.
I recall sitting in the stands, clad in my red and white stripes, cheering as the giant that was Quinn strode past, saluting his people while we lavished the man dubbed the "saviour" with praise at a time when the club was on its knees.
Moments later, my attention shifted to a Newcastle supporter who couldn't have been much older than my twelve-year-old self.
He shuffled sheepishly past the Sunderland end, dressed head to toe in black and white, enduring a relentless chorus of abuse from the home crowd. Looking back, I can't help but wonder whether anyone had thought to inform him that his choice of attire wasn't exactly suited to the occasion.

The New York Jets have finally reached a different stage of their rebuild. There was a time when the franchise desperately needed someone to carry it. Every offseason centered on finding the next savior, whether through the draft, free agency, or a blockbuster trade.
That isn't where the Jets find themselves entering 2026. Geno Smith is the answer, not the long-term answer, but an answer nonetheless.
The responsibility is clear. He's a bridge, not a foundational piece of this organization's rebuild. It would be nice if he threw for 5,000 yards, but let's be honest. No one expects him to.
No one's wagering on Smith winning the AP's MVP award or single-handedly dragging New York into playoff contention. At this stage (and at this stage of the Jets' rebuild), his greatest value may come from providing something far less glamorous but far more important.
Stability... The Jets aren't asking Smith to again become the face of the franchise. They're asking him to help guide a roster that's beginning to grow up around him.

Borussia Dortmund chief Lars Ricken said Bundesliga clubs have a duty to act after another botched World Cup for Germany, adding that Jürgen Klopp cannot be the sole saviour of German football.
Klopp as the likely future national team coach was "the all-round problem-solving package," Dortmund's managing director and former Germany midfielder Ricken told reporters on Tuesday on the sidelines of Dortmund's first day of pre-season training.
"But ultimately we as clubs are responsible and have a duty to train players in such a way that they can make the difference at a World Cup."
The 2002 World Cup runner-up was shocked by Germany's recent exit in the round of 32 against Paraguay.
"The performance of our national team is anything but satisfactory. I was at the match against Ivory Coast myself. If we had lost there, it would not have been undeserved either," Ricken said.

If anyone was going to be England's savior it was going to be Bellingham. Again.
