The beginning of the Washington Commanders' season is not for the weak. First, they face division opponents in the first two weeks of the season, and then they play the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. Both games against division opponents are on the road, too, which doesn't help anything.
On Sunday, the Commanders opened their season against the Philadelphia Eagles, and it was a difficult game to watch early on. The Commanders struggled with timing, Jayden Daniels looked uncomfortable, and Terry McLaurin was MIA. Defensively, the secondary led the team in tackles, which is concerning. Rookie Sonny Styles actually led all linebackers with four tackles (three solo), one sack, two tackles for a loss, and one quarterback hit.
They seemed to figure things out near the end of the game, but it was too little, too late, and the Commanders fell 24-22 after failing to convert a two-point attempt to tie the game. Seventy-First hit the road for the first official time this season against Hoke County, in a reunion with its former coach Duran McLaurin, and faced déjà vu from a year ago, falling to a last second field goal, 25-24.
Seventy-First began the night defensively, and immediately started to wreak havoc on Hoke County's unmatched offense.
The Falcons forced a turnover on downs on the Bucks in their first possession, but failed to capitalize on the early start, resulting in a punt.
In its second stint with the ball, Seventy-First pushed the ball downfield after a series of chunk plays from senior quarterback R'maunni Watson and senior athlete Shon Pone, until Pone punched in a 3-yard rush up the middle with just 1:37 left in the opening quarter. He then scored on the 2-point conversion.
The Falcons gave up major yardage on the next kickoff, giving Hoke positive field position to begin its next drive, and the Bucks pushed the ball all the way into the Falcons redzone until a defensive stalwart from Seventy-First held the Bucks down for another turnover on downs, to take the ball over in Hoke territory.

Even though the season opener for the Washington Commanders is just days away, it is never too early to look ahead to the future and what the Commanders might do in the 2027 NFL Draft. In ESPN's most recent mock draft, Washington is projected to have the No. 10 overall pick and select wide receiver Charlie Becker out of Indiana.
First, it is notable that the Commanders are projected to have the No. 10 overall pick. ESPN projects no trade, meaning Washington is expected to have the tenth-worst record in the NFL and will not be close to making the playoffs.
This is a rather dismal prediction for a team that just reached the NFC Championship in 2024. Washington's fate relies on the health of quarterback Jayden Daniels, who suffered three different injuries last season. If he can stay healthy all season, the Commanders have a chance to compete for a playoff spot this season.
However, there are other concerns about Washington's playoff chances. Arguably the biggest concern for the Commanders going into training camp was the wide receiver depth. They have Terry McLaurin as the No. 1 receiver and signed Stefon Diggs as the No. 2, with rookie Antonio Williams expected to be the No. 3. It is unclear what Williams will bring to the table as a third-round draft pick, and McLaurin also missed time last year. Diggs is coming off his seventh 1,000-yard season in his career, so he should help Daniels out this season.
Overall, it is reasonable to believe that Washington may end up with the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but that projection could change as the season goes on. Perceptions of the 2026 Washington Commanders have changed a lot over the last month. Heading into training camp, the Commanders were a team of mystery, but many believed they could still compete for a playoff spot in 2026 if they could keep quarterback Jayden Daniels healthy.
Optimism grew when Washington signed four-time Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs, giving Daniels another top-tier weapon, while also making life a bit easier for star receiver Terry McLaurin. But the day after Diggs competed in his first Commanders' practice, left tackle Laremy Tunsil tore his triceps. It was a devastating injury for many reasons. Tunsil is one of the NFL's best players, and he was critical in protecting Daniels.
Washington's solution was to move Brandon Coleman back to left tackle to replace Tunsil. It's a good plan, considering Coleman played left tackle in 2024. While he's no Tunsil, Coleman is better than multiple left tackles in the NFL. The only problem is that it took Coleman away from the left guard competition, which he was expected to win.
Making matters worse, new center Nick Allegretti missed almost all of training camp. The veteran offensive lineman moved to center this offseason to replace Tyler Biadasz. While the Commanders are confident in Allegretti, those on the outside don't believe Washington did enough at center. All summer long, journeyman Julian Good-Jones and rookie sixth-round pick Matt Gulbin — who have a combined two career NFL snaps — took turns at center. They struggled; Good-Jones was cut and is now on the practice squad, while Gulbin is one snap away from replacing Allegretti.
As a result, several **** ysts have predicted that Washington will finish last in the NFC East.

He brought in new coordinators and other coaching staff, and the roster looks quite different from what it did in 2025, especially defensively. What did the defense look like? How was Daniels' protection? As you answer those questions, remember how that season turned out for the Commanders, culminating in Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for Daniels and an NFC Championship appearance for the Commanders.
The 2025 season was plagued by injuries, so it's impossible to know what could have happened "if" certain players remained healthy. Now, everyone wants to throw the Commanders to the bottom of the league, which is only making the players want to win that much more.

The Washington Commanders added plenty of new faces to their roster during the offseason. Many of their additions were to the defensive side of the ball, but there were notable offensive additions to the team, too. Tight end Chig Okonkwo and wide receiver Stefon Diggs lead that charge, but rookie wide receiver Antonio Williams can't be left out either.
The Commanders are excited about their offensive additions, and Pro Football Focus recently named Okonkwo as one of five fantasy football breakout stars in 2026.
After discussing Okonkwo's time with the Tennessee **** ans, reviewing some of his stats, and mentioning that the Commanders invested more in Okonkwo than any skill player outside of Terry McLaurin, the article says:
Expectations for Okonkwo will be higher than they were for (Zach) Ertz at ages 34 and 35. He played 12 of the first 14 snaps in the second preseason game, suggesting he will have a larger role than he did in Tennessee and that Ertz had in Washingotn. Given the uncertainty at wide receiver outside of McLaurin and recent free-agent addition Stefon Diggs, Okonkwo is third on the team in targets. That gives him a solid floor as a low-end TE2.
His ability to turn into a TE1 will largely depend on the quality of the Commanders' offense in general. It's unlikely Okonkwo becomes a frequent target near the goal line, given his lighter size for a tight end, but a few more touchdowns than usual are a possibility.

The Washington Commanders announced their initial practice squad on Monday afternoon. It included several standout players from training camp and the preseason, with talent that will surely support game-day efforts throughout the year.
Receiver Jaden Bradley is a notable addition, someone who received high praise throughout the course of camp. Terry McLaurin has mentored the undrafted UNLV product, who proved a hard worker in practices and a dynamic playmaker in preseason games.
The Commanders have a bloated receiver corps right now, but it's still possible Bradley sees the field at some point during the regular season.
Washington also signed veteran defensive lineman Byron Cowart, a relatively late addition who is an effective run stopper up front.
The Commanders also added fan favorite Robert Henry Jr., a running back and big-play threat. Craig Reynolds was also kept in that position group, and could be the first rusher elevated with just three backs on the active roster.

The Washington Commanders' 2025 season was a complete 180-degree turn from their 2024 season. In 2024, the Commanders made their first NFC Championship appearance in over 30 years. Jayden Daniels earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and the Commanders looked like an entirely different team than what we had seen in the previous 25 years.
Then came 2025, which we won't rehash here. It wasn't pretty, so Adam Peters set out to make changes during free agency. His early focus was on the defensive side of the ball, as it should have been, and the improvement on that side of the ball is already visible. He spent less time on the offense, but did make some changes, including signing Stefon Diggs during training camp.
The Commanders have a ton of depth at wide receiver in 2026, giving Jayden Daniels plenty of tools to work with. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer recently noted that depth in his review of the Commanders' 2026 training camp practices.
One thing that'll certainly help Daniels is Washington's depth at receiver. The Commanders believe they have eight NFL-quality receivers in camp, which will force tough decisions in a couple of weeks. Terry McLaurin, without last year's contract drama, is back to being Terry McLaurin. Interestingly, the difference-maker here has been Stefon Diggs, who's immediately stepped into a leadership role, one he deftly handled last year in New England, and set a high bar for the room (as McLaurin always has). Among the young guys, Luke McCaffrey's taken another step, and rookie Antonio Williams is one to watch, already capable of playing both the Z (split end) and F (slot) positions, which have made him a really good fit for the new system.
When it comes time for final 53-man roster cuts, the Commanders are going to have some serious decisions to make. Stefon Diggs and Terry McLaurin are the anchors in the room. Luke McCaffrey, Antonio Williams, Treylon Burks, Jaylin Lane, and the rest of the receivers in the room are doing an excellent job of making a case for themselves. Unfortunately, not all of them will make the final roster.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin, also known as "Scary Terry," could be a scary addition to your fantasy lineup this season. He has put up elite numbers over the course of his career, especially in 2024 when he had over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. While McLaurin missed seven games last season, ESPN fantasy ****** yst Eric Moody believes he is a great fantasy option this season. Here is what Moody had to say about McLaurin:
"McLaurin is one of my favorite values at wide receiver. In 2024, he scored 13 touchdowns, finished as the WR7 and topped 1,000 yards for the fifth straight season. Last season was basically lost, with McLaurin missing seven games and QB Jayden Daniels missing 10. New OC David Blough has talked about getting McLaurin 10 targets per game, a significant jump from the 7.3 he has averaged over his career, while also moving him around the formation. New signing Stefon Diggs adds competition, but I'm getting a receiver who has already shown WR1 upside at a back-end WR2 price. That's a discount I'm willing to bet on."
Diggs may provide some competition, but he could actually help McLaurin's fantasy stock in a way. Without Diggs, McLaurin was the clear No. 1 receiver on Washington's roster, making him more likely to get double-teamed and have fewer fantasy points. With another elite wide receiver for defenses to worry about, this should lead to more opportunities for McLaurin.
As Moody notes, McLaurin has a current average draft position (ADP) of No. 23 wide receiver. Therefore, you do not have to spend a first or second round pick on him even though he has the potential of a WR1, allowing you to build up other positions on your roster.
The biggest concern with McLaurin is Daniels' health. Some may be worried about McLaurin's health given he missed seven games last season, but he is not injury-prone. In fact, last season was the first time McLaurin missed any time since 2020. Daniels, on the other hand, missed 10 games with three different injuries last season. If he goes down, McLaurin's fantasy production could suffer. But if Daniels is able to remain healthy as he did in 2024, McLaurin could have a monster fantasy season.

Sports Illustrated fantasy football ****** yst Michael Fabiano identified a few tight ends who might be a steal in fantasy drafts based on their current average draft position (ADP). Washington Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo was one of the players who made the list. Fabiano said:
"Okonkwo never averaged more than 7.3 points per game in his four seasons with the ****** ans, but landing in Washington could make him more relevant in fantasy leagues. Jayden Daniels always liked to throw the ball to Zach Ertz, who Okonkwo will replace, and the Commanders aren't exactly flush with reliable receivers behind Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs. This makes Chig a nice late-round dart throw."
Tight end is always the hardest position to draft in fantasy football. There are a few elite players. But, if you are unable to get one of those elite tight ends, it can be difficult to find someone to fill the void. According to Fabiano, Okonkwo, whose ADP places him as the No. 16 tight end to come off the board, could be a steal.
The former fourth-round pick out of Maryland spent his first four years in the NFL with the Tennessee ****** ans. He played in every game for the ****** ans, though he never surpassed 600 receiving yards and has eight touchdowns over four seasons. However, as Fabiano points out, the change in scenery could change Okonkwo's fantasy outlook.
Ertz was a decent fantasy tight end in his own right during his two seasons with the Commanders, especially in 2024 when he had seven touchdowns. That could certainly be Okonkwo this season, although the ability to start him may depend on the matchup. One game to watch later in the season is when Washington faces the Cincinnati Bengals in late November. The Bengals were incredibly bad against tight ends last year, and if that trend continues this season, the Cincinnati game could be a breakout performance for Okonkwo.

Veteran wide receiver Noah Brown has found a new team.
The Raiders announced that they have signed Brown to their active roster on Sunday. They released defensive tackle Benito Jones in a corresponding move.
Brown spent the last two seasons with the Commanders. He had 40 catches for 536 yards and a touchdown while missing 19 games due to a variety of injuries.
Prior to joining Washington, Brown spent one season with the Texans and six seasons with the Cowboys. He has 155 catches for 2,083 yards and six touchdowns over his entire career.
Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs are atop the receiver depth chart for the Commanders. Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Jaylin Lane, Treylon Burks, Van Jefferson, third-round pick Antonio Williams, Jacoby Jones, Nick Nash, River Cracraft, and Jaden Bradley are also vying for roles in the offense.

The Washington Commanders were back on the practice field Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday's joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. After a day in pads on Monday, Washington sat several key veterans ahead of what's expected to be a physical scrimmage-like atmosphere on Wednesday.
Tuesday began with head coach Dan Quinn saying cornerback Trey Amos and center Nick Allegretti would not participate in Wednesday's joint practice. Quinn said Amos would likely be reevaluated next week. The same timeline applies to Allegretti.
As for what happened on the field, here are four players who stood out from Day 10 of Commanders training camp.
With star receivers Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs enjoying a rest day before Wednesday's practice, it allowed some of the younger players an opportunity to shine. Less than five days ago, the Washington Commanders signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract for the 2026 season. There was speculation that Brandon Aiyuk might join the burgundy and gold, but his social media antics, combined with still being under contract, forced the Commanders in another direction.
The Commanders needed to add another big threat to the offense. Jayden Daniels will still rely on Terry McLaurin, but with Diggs on the field, opposing defenses will be spread thin, and Daniels will have an easier time moving the ball down the field. It's easy to see why the Commanders wanted to sign Diggs, but why did Diggs ultimately choose to come to Washington? NFL Network's Mike Garofolo and Brian Baldinger asked that very question of Diggs after practice on Saturday.
"One, it was home," Diggs says. "I liked something about this team. Just the energy, the coaches. You know, DQ (Dan Quinn) is a ******* of a coach; I talked to AP (Adam Peters), they were building something, and they've had some success in recent years. They had some injuries last year, but I like going and being part of something that's going in the right direction. I had some other options to go some other places, but this made the most sense when you go in and weigh the pros and cons and how I want my life to be built. You know, I'm 32 years old. I've got more football behind me than in front of me, but I want to demonstrate I can hoop still. I can do everything I want to do out here; I can be a great receiver, and be a good receiver for Jayden."
Diggs was born in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and played football for the University of Maryland Terrapins in college. Landing in Washington was partly a homecoming for the veteran wideout, but knowing that this team needed just one more tool to take the next step, Diggs was willing to be that tool.
With Diggs and McLaurin on the field, plus the addition of Chig Okonkwo and the rise of rookie Antonio Williams, the Commanders' offense will be formidable in 2026.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs reportedly generated interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Diggs was released by the Patriots in early March, ahead of free agency. He spent the entire spring and most of the summer searching for the right situation to join and continue his NFL career. Ultimately, he settled on returning to play for his hometown NFL team.
"The Chiefs reached out at one point. The Dolphins reached out. The Raiders reached out. He had some conversations with some teams, but I think it was going to be Washington all along," Schefter said on Diggs when appearing on The Pat McAfee Show.
Diggs is coming off a 1,000-yard receiving season with the Patriots, and he could make a big impact on a Commanders team that already has another top-tier receiver in Terry McLaurin.

The Commanders receiver corps obviously got better with the Stefon Diggs acquisition. The veteran is a top-tier route runner and a steady producer with a long track record of success. While he's 32 years old, Diggs can still move and make important catches in the clutch.
Head coach Dan Quinn has established a competitive Commanders training camp, but it's safe to say Diggs will eventually slot into the No. 2 receiver slot opposite Terry McLaurin. He's expected play significant time and get targeted a ton, even though he may not be a true every-down player after playing 55% of the offensive snaps in New England last season.
He'll also impact his position group just by joining it. A roster spot just got harder to earn at the position with Terry McLaurin, Diggs and third-round pick Antonio Williams as roster locks. Jaylin Lane's punt-return ability makes him darn-close to one, with maybe two more roster spots available. Fierce battles will be waged for those, among talented individuals.
A few thoughts on how the Diggs addition might impact the receiver corps.
Terry will remain scary while continuing to move around the formation as new coordinator David Blough always intended. McLaurin is the alpha around here, on a long-term deal and one of the longest-tenured players on the Commanders roster. He also has an even-keeled leadership vibe that will hold his position group together and help it improve with all the extra behind-the-scenes work he does.

That's how Jeremy Fowler, ESPN football ***** yst, began describing what he observed at Commanders' training camp on Monday. Fowler was a guest on "Grant & Danny" on 106.7 The Fan.
"It was hard to ignore that connection between Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels with that beautiful pass to start," began Fowler. "McLaurin looked like himself again, and I know last year was hard with the 'hold in' and then the injuries. So he and Jayden Daniels both look like they are on the same page. I talked with McLaurin after practice. He was almost downright giddy about the connection they have, that they are growing again or regrowing. So, that's a positive."
There was another receiver who caught Fowler's eye, other than the veteran No. 1 receiver for the Commanders, McLaurin. The Commanders felt they really needed to go obtain a weapon with TE Zach Ertz tearing an ACL late last season. Consequently, in free agency they signed a tight end, Chig Okonkwo, known not a whole lot for his blocking in the run game, but for getting open as a receiver.
"I think he is probably their receiver No. 2 right now. You know, he runs routes like a receiver, even though he is a tight end. To me, he is more of a hybrid model. With the absence of another bona fide No. 2, he's probably the 'two' to me. That stood out to me."

After a few days of training camp, one undrafted Washington Commanders rookie continues to stand out: wide receiver Jaden Bradley.
This isn't new for Bradley, the 6-foot-3 wideout from UNLV. He stood out during the spring in OTAs and minicamp. That trend has continued early in training camp. Star wide receiver Terry McLaurin was seen mentoring Bradley last week.
McLaurin shared his excitement about the undrafted rookie.
"I think he has a unique skillset where he's a bigger receiver, but he moves very smoothly," McLaurin said. "His releases are very smooth. He's sudden in his releases. He has really good feet at the top. He kind of has a pro-like feel. For him, it's just gonna be about detailing it, splits, timing. When you're running down the field, keeping your shoulder close so you can track the ball over your shoulder. Red zone, it's not as much ***** e, so you gotta hold that defender off so you can give the quarterback more ***** e to throw in that back corner of the end zone. Just little tidbits like that I try to pass along with him, but he's a sponge, man. The Washington Commanders have a day off on Sunday before putting on the pads for the first time in training camp on Monday. Through three practices, it's clear to some who've attended Washington's early practices that the Commanders still need a No. 2 receiver opposite Terry McLaurin.
Four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains a free agent, despite interest from around the NFL, including the Commanders. Could that change soon?
Three teams have stood out as potential options for Diggs this summer: the Commanders, Ravens and Chiefs. Diggs wants to play, but he's been clear that he'd love to play for Washington, his hometown team. However, something happened on Saturday that could lead Kansas City to make a move for Diggs.
Starting wide receiver Xavier Worthy left practice on a cart with what was believed to be a shoulder injury. Fellow wideout Cyrus Allen was also injured in Saturday's practice. That led to some panic amongst Chiefs fans.
Fortunately for Kansas City, it received a positive report on Worthy and Allen.

The Washington Commanders opened training camp on Wednesday, and by all reports, the defense has the early advantage over the offense. That's not a surprise. It's how things usually go this time of the year, especially when each side is installing a new scheme.
After an uneven start on Day 1 of training camp, quarterback Jayden Daniels was better on Thursday. Far too often on Wednesday, Daniels held onto the ball for a split second too long. While no contact is allowed right now, Daniels would've been sacked multiple times if it were a game.
Again, much of this is expected right now. It's nothing to be alarmed about. But there is something that should concern Commanders' fans. Check out this X post from Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic.
Obviously, Jhabvala is posting a GIF of Stefon Diggs, indicating that her takeaway from two days of camp is that the Commanders need the free-agent wideout.
Various reports have indicated Washington receivers have had trouble gaining separation or have dealt with drops. This is excluding Terry McLaurin, of course. It's not a complete surprise because general manager Adam Peters spent the offseason trying to land another top receiver opposite McLaurin. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was long thought to be a potential option, but that's now off the table for various reasons.

Amid injuries to a couple of their top wide receivers, the San Francisco 49ers have turned to an old friend.
Veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel is returning to the team that drafted him on a one-year deal worth up to $7 million, according to NFL Media and ESPN insider Ian Rapoport.
He'll join a wide receiver corps that includes veteran Mike Evans and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling. Christian Kirk and Ricky Pearsall were expected starters for San Francisco entering training camp, though Kirk is dealing with a calf injury and Pearsall has had a flare-up with the PCL injury in his knee that he suffered last year.
Samuel played the first six years of his career for the 49ers after the team drafted him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played the 2025 season with the Washington Commanders, where he led the team in receptions (72), receiving yards (727) and receiving touchdowns (5) amid injuries to quarterback Jayden Daniels and wideout Terry McLaurin.

It's often said that you don't know what you have until it's gone. That's what happened to the Washington Commanders last summer when star wide receiver Terry McLaurin skipped offseason activities and missed training camp while he was engaged in contentious contract talks with the Commanders.
The two sides eventually agreed to a deal, but the damage was done. McLaurin, the ultimate team leader, missed valuable offseason work with quarterback Jayden Daniels. He was injured in Week 3, which some attribute to him missing training camp. Fair or not, McLaurin's absence was felt on and off the field last season.
McLaurin was back with the Commanders for every offseason activity in 2026. His coaches and teammates couldn't hide their excitement. His importance on the field is known. He's Washington's No. 1 wide receiver and one of the NFL's best. However, his value to his younger teammates is immeasurable.
On the first day of Commanders' training camp on Wednesday, here you can see McLaurin mentoring undrafted rookie receiver Jaden Bradley.
That's not something you often see from veteran No. 1 receivers entering their eighth NFL season.

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is one of the longest-tenured players on the roster. He was drafted by the organization in 2019 and hasn't looked back. Even in the midst of the Dan Snyder drama, McLaurin is one of a handful of players who stuck around when things got hard.
Last season, McLaurin's loyalty was rewarded with a three-year contract extension worth an average of $29 million per year. The biggest problem McLaurin has (and has had since he was drafted) is that he doesn't have a counterpart to take some of the workload. Sure, there are other receivers on the roster, but McLaurin has been tasked with carrying the bulk of the workload his entire career.
Recently, McLaurin was asked about the wide receivers' room and if the Commanders should add another receiver. He replied in typical McLaurin fashion.
"Yeah, that's not really my job to add or subtract on the team," McLaurin replied. "My job is to embrace whoever they bring in. If they bring someone in, if they don't bring anybody in, I have the utmost confidence that the guys in our room are going to step it up."
McLaurin goes on to discuss how the NFL presents opportunities and that guys step up, "every single time."

If you've been a fan of the Washington Commanders for a while, then you've certainly heard of Eastern Motors. You didn't have to live in Northern Virginia to know of Eastern Motors. For over 20 years, Washington players have partnered with Easterns to do commercials ahead of the new season.
Players such as Clinton Portis, Sean Taylor, Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Kirk Cousins, LaVar Arrington and Terry McLaurin have starred in advertisements. NHL legend Alexander Ovechkin has been a part of the Eastern family, too.
As for McLaurin, he's back to do another commercial for Easterns, now known as Easterns Automotive Group, for 2026. He brought a new partner this time around: rookie linebacker Sonny Styles.
Easterns has multiple locations throughout the DMV, mostly in Maryland. McLaurin and Styles showed up ready for work on Thursday.

ESPN's Ben Solak named second-year cornerback Keyon Martin as his 2026 breakout candidate for the Ravens, a surprising inclusion among a group that included better-known names like Terry McLaurin and Nolan Smith. Solak admitted that Martin was "perhaps the deepest cut of this entire list" and noted his explosiveness before writing:
Martin is undersized for an NFL corner (5-foot-9, 170 pounds), but new coach Jesse Minter was comfortable playing smaller corners during his time as the Chargers' defensive coordinator. Quick eyes and even quicker feet in zone coverage are Minter's preferred traits, and Martin has those.
At his size, Martin likely can't play anything but the slot. The Ravens do love three-safety sets with Kyle Hamilton in the nickel, but when they want a quicker cover man, Martin has a chance to supplant Chidobe Awuzie as the third corner on the field, keeping Marlon Humphrey on the outside.
Martin impressed as an undrafted rookie last year and could benefit from the Ravens' infusion of secondary coaching talent, including Minter and defensive pass game coordinator Mike Mickens. However, the Ravens' cornerback room has gotten more crowded with the addition of fifth-round pick Chandler Rivers, a strong spring from 2025 UDFA Marquise Robinson, and returns from injury by 2025 Day 3 picks Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam.

With each passing day, it looks increasingly unlikely that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will end up with the Washington Commanders. Well, at least in 2026, anyway. Washington has long been Aiyuk's preferred destination once his release from San Francisco became official. However, Aiyuk has yet to apply for reinstatement and has declared he will not report to the team for training camp. That means the 49ers are under no obligation to release him.
With or without Aiyuk, the Commanders could use another veteran starting receiver opposite Terry McLaurin. Deebo Samuel remains available. As does Tyreek Hill. But that name most **** ociated with the Commanders is four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs. Diggs, a DMV native, hasn't hidden his desire to return to the region and play for his hometown team.
Earlier this offseason, Diggs posted a message to all NFL teams on his Instagram account, prompting Commanders edge rusher Charles Omenihu to comment, "Burgundy & gold."
Omenihu isn't the only Commanders defender trying to recruit Diggs to Washington. When Diggs posted a workout video on his Instagram recently, another Washington newcomer, linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson, posted a similar comment. Diggs responded.
It's worth noting that Diggs and Chaisson were teammates with the AFC champion New England Patriots last season.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is all about business. While his good friend, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, continues to alienate the rest of the NFL with his social media antics, Daniels gathered several of his teammates in Los Angeles for some work ahead of training camp.
Wide receiver Dyami Brown has posted several videos this offseason showing his progress since re-signing with the Commanders in March after one season with the Jaguars. Brown shared a video earlier this offseason featuring Daniels, wide receiver Terry McLaurin, running back Rachaad White, and others.
Recently, Brown and others returned to Los Angeles to get more work with Daniels. But this time, several other teammates showed up too, including McLaurin, tight ends Ben Sinnott and John Bates, receiver Jaylin Lane, and others.

This tells you everything that Daniels is made of. Only a few days ago, some Washington fans, still desperately wanting the Commanders to sign Aiyuk when he's released, were openly saying Daniels was trolling everyone alongside Aiyuk on social media. Aiyuk criticized Daniels in a video last week, taking aim at the relationship between the young quarterback and his mother, who is his agent. Daniels responded only with a Kevin Durant photo giving two thumbs down.
