Palantir (PLTR) CEO Alex Karp has dropped a blunt theory about the AI industry's safety push.
The outspoken AI executive said that some companies might need government ownership to escape the financial consequences of their technology.
In his CNBC interview, Karp framed nationalization as the destination he believes those businesses are moving toward, with liability protection the prize.
His startling comments come as the industry's conversation shifts towards safeguards and whether development should slow down. Moreover, that also raises the question of who shoulders the risks created along the way?
Karp zeroes in on customers' intellectual property. He said businesses working with Palantir believe that their ideas and data are being fed into AI models, putting their competitive advantages at risk.

PLTR trades near $176 and a $5,000 stake could grow to $8,162 in the bull case or fall to $4,629 in the bear case by 2031.
Palantir posted 93% revenue growth in Q2 2026, raised full-year guidance to $8.15 billion, and hit a Rule of 40 score of 155.
A P/E near 250 and beta of 1.6 mean any growth stumble or government budget shift could rapidly compress the stock toward the bear case.

Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) CEO Alex Karp just added a third front to the fight over artificial intelligence (AI) safety on Thursday, arguing that the companies developing the technology -- the Anthropics and OpenAI's of the world -- should face civil and criminal penalties if AI causes the damage their CEOs are warning of.
Speaking with CNBC, Karp said that he agreed that "reasonable guidelines" for the industry should be enforced, but that "you can't do it" and that "the first line of defense" instead should be to hold companies and their leaders responsible for their own actions.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Karp was weighing in on an ongoing and high-profile debate within the industry. After Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei penned an essay warning that AI capabilities were improving too quickly for researchers to understand and control them and that action must be taken to ensure the public's safety, he was joined by several AI leaders with calls for a slowdown and increased oversight.
Here's a look at what they had to say:

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) trades near $172.56, and the options market has already drawn the year ahead in dollars. The one-year band runs from $96.77 at the floor to $307.69 at the ceiling. That is not a forecast. It is the size of the uncertainty you are holding, and it raises a question about position size rather than direction.
What You Are Actually Risking On A Palantir Position
That range is where the options market puts roughly a two-in-three chance over the twelve months ahead. On a $10,000 holding, that is about $4,400 at risk down to the floor. Up to the ceiling there is about $7,800 of room. The two sides are not the same size because a stock cannot fall below zero but can rise without limit.
Outside that band sit two tails: roughly a one-in-six chance the stock finishes above the ceiling, and the same chance it finishes below the floor. So $96.77 is the edge of the ordinary, not the bottom of it.

Software stocks, once left in the dust, have bounced back in recent months as high-flying chip stocks take a back seat.
"One of the things that was greatly overstated earlier this year was the death of software," Brian Mulberry, Zacks Investment Management chief market strategist, told Yahoo Finance on Tuesday.
"In order to engage with these AI tools … you need software to customize those tools for your business, " he said.
The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) is up 15% over the past three months and more than 40% higher from its April lows. Among individual movers, Microsoft (MSFT) and Palantir (PLTR) are both up 30%, while Salesforce (CRM) has risen more than 50% since mid-June.
In comparison, the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) is down 17% over the three-month period, according to Yahoo Finance's AlphaSpace chart.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) and Nebius Group (NBIS) have joined forces in a partnership that directly supports both companies' growth stories. Palantir gets a compute partner that can support its push into sovereign AI, while Nebius gains access to a prominent enterprise distribution channel through Palantir. That makes the deal appear straightforward and mutually beneficial on paper. Still, both stocks face growing investor skepticism. Palantir's valuation remains a major point of debate among investors, and Nebius still needs to show that its capital-heavy build-out will eventually lead to durable profitability.
Palantir has designated Nebius as its preferred sovereign AI infrastructure partner. The company plans to integrate Nebius' compute and inference endpoints into the Palantir enterprise perimeter following an integration period. The partnership will allow eligible Palantir customers to use Nebius' infrastructure while maintaining control over their own compute, models, and data. The companies will also collaborate to expand compute capacity more quickly, including through modular data center builds at sites with available power.

Artificial intelligence (AI) software demand is increasing at a healthy clip, which isn't surprising considering the productivity gains this technology can deliver.
A recent survey by McKinsey revealed that 80% of respondents who use AI report higher productivity, while 50% report better decision-making. Not surprisingly, the generative AI tools offered by Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) are in high demand, as evidenced by the company's phenomenal growth.

Palantir is one of the pioneers in AI software. The productivity gains delivered by its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) are driving solid revenue and earnings growth for Palantir by helping it land bigger deals and more customers. However, Palantir stock is expensively valued, and that's one of the reasons it has lost over 4% of its value in 2026.
But the same isn't true for Snowflake (NYSE:SNOW), another AI software company whose stock price has jumped 53% this year. Let's see why that has been the case and check whether it is too late to buy this AI software specialist.

There is a moment in every wild party where somebody suggests a new thing that will make the night 10 times more fun for 45 minutes and excruciatingly worse for the days that will follow. Defiance ETFs has decided that we've reached that point in the ETF party and just filed its suggestion with the Securities and Exchange Commission… Sixteen times over.
Defiance wants to launch 16 new ETFs, all built on the same idea and all named for it: the Defiance 2X Hourly Reset ETF, one each for NVDA, TSLA, PLTR, GOOG, META, MSFT, AMD, MU, TSM, MRVL and six more. Paperwork went in through Tidal Trust V with the clock set to run 75 days, so they go live around November 4 unless somebody stops them.
Each fund promises double whatever the stock does, and then delivers on that promise six separate times a day. Every roughly hour-long window starts fresh, with the leverage reset to 2x from wherever the stock happens to be sitting. The filing says outright that the promise applies to nothing else. Not to a day, not to a month, not to a year. Six windows, and after each one closes, whatever happened in it is permanent.
Your losses don't get a fresh start when the leverage does. A stock that whipsaws its way to nowhere by 4 p.m. can leave the fund substantially poorer, and every additional reset is another chance for that to happen.

Shares of big data software pioneer Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR) rallied 51.5% in August, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Palantir became a darling of the AI era over the past couple of years, and hit a very high valuation at its peak last November. Since then, the "SaaS-pocalypse" has taken a toll on the entire software sector, including Palantir, as fears of disruption from leading AI labs cut its stock price nearly in half, from its November 2025 highs to its June 2026 lows.

The downturn set Palantir up for a bounce higher if it posted continued strong financial results. Its second-quarter August report provided that, in spades.
In the second quarter, Palantir delivered 93% revenue growth to $1.94 billion, while adjusted (non-GAAP) earnings per share grew 156% to $0.41. Both figures handily beat ****** yst expectations. This amazing growth marked a stunning acceleration from the 48% revenue growth in the year-ago quarter and the 85% growth in the first quarter of 2026. Another impressive metric was profitability, as adjusted free cash flow margins expanded to a massive 63% -- among the highest in the industry.

Fear that rising oil prices will cascade into broader inflationary pressures brought sellers into Thursday's stock market ahead of a key reading on consumer price trends. Nvidia (NVDA) led blue chips lower after the artificial intelligence leader announced a new partnership with Palantir (PLTR).
Around midday Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6% as the S&P 500 dropped 0.5%. The Nasdaq composite also gave back 0.5%. All three indexes are on track for their fourth consecutive day of declines. The small-cap Russell 2000 index moved down 0.8%.
West Texas Intermediate crude futures moved above $101 a barrel — a near-6% rise. Brent futures also rose nearly 6% to trade close to the $107 level.
The consumer price index report for August is due on Friday with estimates indicating price increases amounting to 0.4% month-on-month and 3.4% annually. Core inflation is seen ticking up 0.2% from July and 2.4% from August 2025.
The 10-year Treasury yield jumped nine basis points to 4.93%. Bitcoin fell to roughly $76,900.

Palantir shares gained 7.7% on September 3, the same day PwC US expanded an alliance built around enterprise AI, M&A, and ERP modernization. The companies described an AI-native deals platform intended to execute transactions up to 50% faster and cut one-time costs by as much as 45%, but disclosed no new contract value. The same day, Globant introduced a MuleSoft AI Pod for Salesforce integration. Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) and Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) are packaging expertise around software in very different ways.
Palantir's bull case is productized delivery. PwC can bring industry relationships and implementation capacity, while Foundry and AIP remain the recurring platform. Palantir's Q2 revenue rose 93% to $1.94 billion, including 149% growth in U.S. commercial revenue, so the alliance lands on real momentum. Arrowstreet Capital held 20,517,115 shares at June 30 after increasing its stake by 97%.
The valuation is the obvious counterweight. A partnership announcement without disclosed revenue cannot by itself justify a large daily move. Receivables concentration, stock-based compensation, and competition from clouds and consultants deserve attention. Hedge-fund breadth had already weakened: Insider Monkey counted 86 funds holding Palantir at June 30, down from 96 at March 31.
Globant's AI Pod offers a more explicit delivery unit. Configurations support roughly six, 12, or 24 integration flows or APIs per month, and the company cited benchmarks including up to 80% automation and 15% to 25% faster time to value. That makes capacity tangible. Twenty-three hedge funds held Globant S.A. (NYSE:GLOB) in Q2, down from 25 in Q1. Pzena Investment Management reported 3,859,718 shares after adding 31%.
Globant's problem is that reusable pods can still be labor businesses. The service remains on a waitlist, the benchmark outcomes are not guaranteed customer results, and AI may pressure billing rates even as it improves productivity.

Chief Executive David Steinberg cracked some XL-sized eggs before hatching Zeta Global (ZETA) and building it up into a soaring and swooping AI marketing stock. Just this year, Zeta shares have climbed more than 50%.
His prior company, InPhonic, drew condemnation from a Better Business Bureau chief executive, prized growth over profits, faced regulatory charges and landed in bankruptcy court. After it delisted, it seems the serial founder was ***** -bent on constructing its foil.
That's Zeta. Early on, it was apparently so bottom-line focused that venture capitalists deemed it "too profitable" to invest. Steinberg and his partners initially self-funded it.
Zeta is now a rising marketing and advertising platform — with partners such as Palantir (PLTR) and OpenAI, and an AI bot named after a Greek goddess.
Wall Street expects Zeta's revenue growth to accelerate. After rising an average of 30.3% over the past three years, ***** ysts see 39% growth this year, to $1.82 billion, per FactSet. They also anticipate rising quarterly profits, including $12.5 million in the third quarter and $22.4 million in the fourth, with a dip attributable to seasonality the following quarter.

September 4 delivered a stark rotation. Memory, connectivity, chip-equipment, and power stocks rallied while Adobe fell 6.7% and Palantir dropped 4.5%. Adobe's decline followed news that Anil Chakravarthy will become chief executive on December 1, while Palantir faced a broader move away from richly valued software. Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) and Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) test whether investors are underestimating software monetization or correctly pricing greater disruption risk.
Adobe's bull case is embedded distribution across creative, document, and marketing workflows. Fiscal second-quarter revenue rose 13% to a record $6.62 billion, and AI-first annualized recurring revenue more than tripled to above $500 million. Chakravarthy already runs customer-experience orchestration, which could connect AI creation with enterprise activation. The bear case is that low-cost generative tools erode pricing, while its CEO and interim-CFO transitions complicate execution.
Insider Monkey counted 81 hedge funds holding Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) at June 30, down from 86 at March 31. Arrowstreet Capital, led by Peter Rathjens, Bruce Clarke, and John Campbell, disclosed 6,787,022 shares, roughly 0.1% fewer sequentially. The filing predates the leadership announcement.
Palantir's bull case is already visible in results. Second-quarter revenue grew 93% to $1.94 billion, U.S. commercial revenue rose 149%, and adjusted operating margin reached 62%. Its software can turn model output into governed operational decisions. The bear case is valuation, contract concentration, termination clauses, and the risk that current growth rates normalize as competitors improve.
Eighty-six hedge funds held Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) in Q2, down from 96 in Q1. Cathie Wood's ARK Investment Management reported 3,212,286 shares, about 3.3% more than in the prior quarter.

During the August 31 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer highlighted Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) as one of the market's standout performers. He commented:
Second is Palantir which rallied 51%. My take is that Palantir shouldn't have ever been down to begin with based on the Rule of 40 that we typically use to judge this kind of business. When you add up the revenue growth plus the profit margin, the sum comes to 155. I don't know how you sell something with that kind of profitable growth.
Palantir Technologies Inc.'s (NASDAQ:PLTR) operational performance fully backs up Cramer's bullish view. In its Q2 report, the company posted total revenue of $1.94 billion, representing a staggering 93% year-over-year increase. Growth was driven mainly by its domestic operations, where U.S. commercial revenue surged 149% as enterprise clients aggressively deployed its Artificial Intelligence Platform.
The company generated a GAAP net income margin of 55% along with an adjusted free cash flow margin of 63%. More importantly for the Rule of 40 calculation, Palantir posted a 62% adjusted operating margin. Combined with its 93% revenue growth, Palantir Technologies Inc.'s (NASDAQ:PLTR) Rule of 40 score reached an extraordinary 155%, which places it in a rare tier compared to standard enterprise software peers.
Despite these significantly strong numbers, the valuation multiples have reached extreme territory. Trading at 115x forward earnings, Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) prices in nearly flawless future execution.

For most of its life, Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) has been a government software company.
Even now, with shares near $186 as of this writing, the artificial intelligence (AI) software specialist's biggest business at home is still the one built on government contracts. U.S. government revenue was $809 million in the second quarter, against $764 million for U.S. commercial.
Continue »
But the gap is down to $45 million, and the two lines are not growing at the same speed. Last quarter, the U.S. commercial side grew 149% year over year. The government side grew 90%.
Roll those curves forward and they cross almost immediately. My prediction: U.S. commercial revenue passes U.S. government revenue in the third quarter of 2026 (the quarter that ends this month), and well before 2027 even if the timing slips.

I have a chart that will knock your socks off. It's none other than the very popular iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), and I've marked in purple a very important point in the long up cycle. That's a triangle, or wedge. And if SOXX breaks down through it without an instant recovery, it could open the stock market floodgates.
For now, it is simply a marker. And it won't take long to resolve, one way or the other. That's the usual nature of this type of pattern, once it hits that most narrow section at the far right of the chart.

The last 52 weeks have been characterized by significant volatility for CrowdStrike (CRWD) stock. CRWD stock touched lows of $85.68 in February 2026, with disruption risk from AI-native start-ups even as artificial intelligence boosted the outlook for the cybersecurity industry.
It, however, didn't take time for the narrative to change with the company's Falcon platform positioning itself as a one-stop shop for an array of security solutions (including cybersecurity for the cloud and artificial intelligence).

GameStop (GME) has more than a meme-stock reputation riding on its upcoming earnings report. The video game and collectibles retailer has been battling a shrinking core business, with sales declining in each of the past four fiscal years. At the same time, concerns about share dilution and the company's ability to drive sustainable retail growth have continued to weigh on investor sentiment. Still, GameStop's preliminary fiscal 2026 second-quarter results, released on Aug. 31, may have given investors something to watch.
The company expects quarterly net income of $290 million to $310 million, almost double the $168.6 million reported a year earlier. But there's a catch. The stronger bottom line isn't being driven by a rebound in game sales. Instead, investment gains, particularly from GameStop's stake in eBay (EBAY), are doing much of the heavy lifting, while quarterly sales are expected to decline to $780 million-$800 million from $972.2 million a year ago.

Chinese variety store chain Miniso (MNSO) had the 14th-highest bearish price surprise on Monday, with a standard deviation of -2.99; its shares fell nearly 10%, their lowest point since November 2022.

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang has a message for investors worried about hyperscaler AI spending: The boom is nowhere near over.
Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), and Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL) continue to pour billions into data centers, but some investors fear those enormous capital expenditures could eventually peak and pressure Nvidia's growth.

Nvidia (NVDA) reported blockbuster second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on Aug. 26, led by a solid surge in data-center revenue, which climbed by a whopping 117% year-over-year (YOY) to $89 billion. With the data-center business making up more than 90% of its top line, Nvidia has capitalized on the fact that more companies need large GPU clusters.
While the semiconductor industry leader faces "threats" that its near-monopoly on advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips may be coming to an end, Nvidia remains the primary beneficiary of the AI boom. The company is also reportedly set to buy open-source AI platform Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, aligning with CEO Jensen Huang's strategy of building the AI world on the American stack.
