MD Sass, a boutique ****** et management firm, published its second-quarter investor update for its flagship, the "MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. In the first half of 2026, AI infrastructure stocks led the market, with the Russell 1000 Value increasing by 16.3%, outpacing the S&P 500 (10.2%) and Russell 1000 Growth (5.3%). This growth was fueled by semiconductor, memory, and hardware companies benefiting from AI development, even though they are considered cyclical. These sectors, representing only 7.7% of the Russell 1000 Value at the start of the year, contributed nearly 70% of its returns. The portfolio gained 10.0% in the second quarter, net of fees, compared to 13.9% for the Russell 1000 Value Index. Year-to-date, the strategy returned 6.6%, net of fees, versus 16.3% for the Index. The portfolio faced challenges due to limited exposure to companies with the greatest upside from AI infrastructure investments. It also lacked exposure to the Energy sector, which returned about 20% in the first half amid geopolitical tensions with Iran that increased commodity prices, affecting performance. The firm recognizes the importance of adapting its strategies while maintaining core investment principles as it explores future opportunities in emerging technological themes. Adjusted operating margins reached 14.8% in 2025, up 300 bps from the prior year, and management is targeting approximately 20% by 2030.
While continued margin expansion and aftermarket growth support the investment case, the crux of our thesis is nuclear power. FLS is one of the leading suppliers of highly engineered pumps and valves used in nuclear reactors. These

However, results over several quarters do not suggest that ICE has achieved material share gains, and customer consolidation has produced mixed res

MD Sass, a boutique ******* et management firm, published its second-quarter investor update for its flagship, the "MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy highlighted Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU). Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), a leading semiconductor company manufacturing memory and storage products, contributed to the fund's performance this quarter. On August 28, 2026, Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) closed at $932.86 per share. The one-month return of Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) was 14.00%, and its shares gained 694.60% over the past 52 weeks. Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has a market capitalization of $1.05 trillion.
MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy stated the following regarding Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We owned Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) for only a portion of the second quarter, but its impact was significant, as the stock appreciated approximately 50% during our holding period. Although MU had already experienced a massive run before we initiated our investment, most of the share price appreciation was driven by positive earnings revisions rather than multiple expansion. In fact, with the stock trading at approximately 6x our earnings estimate for the next 12 months, the market clearly signaled that MU was overearning and that a significant decline in earnings was imminent. We believed this ******* umption, although consistent with previous memory boom and bust cycles, was erroneous. We believed this cycle would remain stronger for much longer for three primary reasons. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has jumped to 78, indicating that investors are in "Greed" mode. This is the highest reading since December 2024, back when the ETH was rallying to $4,000.

Tuniu Corporation's (NASDAQ:TOUR) ADSs closed lower after the company reported its second-quarter results. Net revenue increased 3.0% year over year to RMB138.9 million, while packaged-tour revenue rose 6.8% to RMB121.1 million as organized tours continued to grow.
However, cost of revenue increased 27.9% to RMB62.5 million, substantially outpacing the top line. Gross profit declined 11.1% to RMB76.4 million, and gross margin contracted to 55.0% from 63.8%. Tuniu consequently swung to a RMB6.1 million operating loss from RMB7.1 million of operating income a year earlier.

Tuniu also remained marginally profitable below the operating line. GAAP net income attributable to ordinary shareholders was RMB0.7 million. Company-defined non-GAAP net income attributable to ordinary shareholders was RMB2.2 million after excluding share-based compensation and amortization of acquired intangible **** ets.
Liquidity provides additional room to absorb uneven travel demand. Tuniu ended June with approximately RMB1.0 billion in cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash, short-term investments, and long-term deposits. Management said during the earnings call that Tuniu generated RMB46.9 million of operating cash flow while recording RMB1.4 million of capital expenditures.

The market has crowned Verizon the winner in its telecom peer group, but its operating report card tells a different story.
Verizon Communications (VZ) stock has delivered for investors over the past year, returning +21% and outpacing the S&P 500. That performance makes it the leader in its competitive group. But when you line up the telecom giants side-by-side, a sharp mismatch appears between the stock's rank and the company's actual business results. Has the market correctly identified a fundamental turnaround before it fully appears in the numbers, or has this stock's price simply gotten ahead of its story?
Why Is The Top-Performing Stock Not The Top Operator?
On paper, Verizon's business performance is solid, but it doesn't lead the pack. Over the last twelve months, its revenue growth ranked third among its peers. T-Mobile US, for instance, grew much faster at 9.7%, yet its stock returned -27% over the same period. That's a significant step up from rivals like AT&T, which trades at 8.3 times earnings despite posting slightly better revenue growth. The market is clearly rewarding Verizon for something that its trailing results don't fully capture, pricing its stock like a class leader while its operational report card is closer to the middle of the pack.

Cathie Wood, chief of Ark Investment Management, often trims her biggest winners after sharp rallies.
This week, she's selling Tempus AI (TEM), taking some shares off the table after the healthcare AI stock surged nearly 30% in days and became the second-largest holding in her fund.
Last year, the flagship Ark Innovation ETF gained 35.49%, far outpacing the S&P 500's return of 17.88% in the same period. So far this year, Wood's flagship Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) is up 10.16% as of Aug. 26, while the S&P 500 surged 12.13%, Yahoo Finance data show.
Wood gained a reputation after the Ark Innovation ETF delivered a 153% return in 2020. But her style also brings painful losses in bearish markets, as seen in 2022, when the Ark Innovation ETF tumbled more than 60%.
Those swings have weighed on Wood's long-term gains. As of Aug. 26, her Ark Innovation ETF has delivered a five-year annualized return of -6.21%, while the S&P 500 has an annualized return of 11.42% over the same period, according to data from Morningstar.

If you're looking for a well-proven dividend stock, consumer goods name Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) is about as good as they come, with 70 consecutive years of annual dividend hikes to its credit. Indeed, only one other company has a longer track record of uninterrupted yearly dividend increases. That streak isn't apt to end anytime soon, if ever.
But reliable dividend growth is only half the story. How much are income investors actually making with their positions in P&G?
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Procter & Gamble's forward-looking dividend yield currently stands at 3%, based on a quarterly payment of $1.0885 per share. A $25,000 position in the stock -- about 172 shares -- would produce just over $187 in dividend income per quarter, or just under $750 per year. That's not earth-shattering, but it's not bad either.
But those numbers arguably understate the total long-term potential that Procter & Gamble offers to patient investors. This company also boasts one of the better rates of dividend growth among blue chip dividend payers. Over the past 10 completed fiscal years, Procter's annual dividend payout has grown from $2.66 to $4.26 per share, and is currently running at an annualized pace of $4.35 per share. That's annualized growth of right around 4.8%, easily outpacing inflation as well as most other Dividend Kings' payment increase rates.

On August 13, StoneCo (NASDAQ:STNE) walked investors through a quarter that captures the central tension in its story right now: a credit business scaling faster than almost anyone expected, and a loan book showing real cracks under Brazil's stubbornly high interest rates. Revenue reached BRL 3.6 billion, up 2.5% year over year, but the more telling number sat inside the credit line, where the portfolio more than doubled to BRL 3.8 billion. That growth is exactly what management wants. What it costs is the story underneath.
StoneCo's credit portfolio doubling to BRL 3.8 billion year over year is the headline, but the composition matters just as much. Working capital solutions drove most of that expansion, and credit revenues jumped 153% to BRL 348.5 million as the book scaled and average rates rose. The company also began disbursing government-backed loans this quarter, which already total BRL 334.2 million. These carry lower risk and lower pricing because a government guarantee absorbs part of the loss on default, letting StoneCo price more aggressively for clients it once passed on.
Banking is building alongside credit. Retail deposits climbed 22.3% to BRL 10.8 billion, and that growth pushed funding costs down to roughly 85% of CDI, a direct benefit to margins. PIX QR code volume rose 44.3% to BRL 30.7 billion, outpacing card volumes and signaling where merchant transactions are headed. Meanwhile, the integration of Pagar.me into the core Stone platform folds online and physical sales into a single merchant account, the foundation for the company's new positioning as a bank for entrepreneurs rather than just a payments processor. On the shareholder side, BRL 3.0 billion in buybacks over the past year cut the share count by 40.3 million shares, which is why adjusted basic EPS rose 8.6% to BRL 2.40 even as net income slipped.
The credit expansion is not without cost. Cost of risk climbed to 21.5% from 20.2% a year earlier, and non-performing loans over 90 days nearly doubled to 8.60% from 4.67%, as loan vintages from late 2025 and early 2026 rolled forward into delinquency. Coverage fell to 203.6% from 279.9%, reflecting both a shift toward better-rated and government-backed loans and the mechanical lag between rising NPLs and write-offs.
The pain is concentrated at the high end. On the dedicated desk that serves larger clients, some defaults have come in above BRL 10 million, including an BRL 11 million default from a long-standing client that filed for bankruptcy protection and caught the company off guard. Management also flagged that a liquidated card issuer could require additional provisioning depending on how a pending litigation matter resolves.

Management expects ACIE to drive most of next quarter's Data Center growth before hyperscale reaccelerates as Vera Rubin supply improves. That is a striking rebalancing for a company long described as dependent on a handful of technology giants.

Citizens' $515 price target for Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) may look like a stretch, sitting at a street-high above the $425 average. However, this aggressive target is based on something concrete, representing approximately 32 times its 2027 estimated GAAP earnings per share for the company.
Analyst Andrew Boone reiterated the target on August 26, along with a Market Outperform rating. As per the firm, the rating depends on Alphabet's consumer distribution across search, YouTube and Android platforms, with growth of Google Cloud Platform and the company's leading profit margins acting as supporting factors.

While online advertising makes up a major part of Google's revenue, Google Cloud is becoming a major part of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)'s business. Google Cloud's growth rate surged to 82% growth in Q2 2026, outpacing even Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
This growth rate was a sequential acceleration from the 63% growth rate reported in the first quarter and the 48% growth rate in the fourth quarter of 2025; largely driven by massive enterprise demand for artificial intelligence.

LONDON, Aug 26 (Reuters) - The outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in Uganda is over but it is not under control in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo, a World Health Organization official told a briefing on Wednesday.
The all-clear for Uganda follows a declaration on July 28 from the Ugandan government that it was free of the disease, which caused 20 cases and two deaths in the country.
The WHO monitored the situation until this week to ensure that no chains of transmission had been missed.
But Dr Marie Roseline Belizaire, director of emergency preparedness for the WHO African region, told a WHO regional meeting that cases in Democratic Republic of Congo continued to rise despite some progress. The outbreak there is the second-deadliest in history, and outpacing containment efforts.

Micron (MU) CEO Sanjay Mehrotra sold $37 million in shares a month before announcing $22 billion in deposits and demand outpacing supply by 50%.
Three Micron executives sold shares at prices reaching $1,095 in July, even as take-or-pay contracts locked in roughly $100 billion in minimum revenue.
Act now: the ****** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Micron Technology didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
From a construction site at Micron Technology's (NASDAQ:MU) Boise fab on Wednesday night, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra delivered the most bullish demand statement of his tenure. He told Jim Cramer that customers have put down $22 billion in cash deposits on take-or-pay contracts and still want 50% more memory than Micron can commit. Cramer called the Boise site "exhibit A" that America still has manufacturing.
One month earlier, Mehrotra was a seller. On July 24, 2026, he disposed of 40,000 shares at prices ranging from roughly $906 to $966, worth about $37 million. The insider filing shows the sale executed across 40 separate lots, with reported execution prices between $906.48 and $965.85.

Wesley Bailey had one of the best defensive performances of the 2026 preseason yet. The UDFA out of Louisville earned 10 pressures in Saturday afternoon's contest between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints.
But a breakout game doesn't necessarily translate to security on the 53-man roster.
We've seen other Bailey's with the Rams before. 2021 brought Chris Garrett's breakout—and Garrett was drafted by the team whereas Bailey wasn't.

Dividend aristocrats like JNJ and PEP require up to $6.5 million at yields between 3% and 4%, but they consistently grow income faster than inflation.
Realty Income (O) pays a monthly 5.1% yield with 115 consecutive quarterly increases, while Altria (MO) yields 6.3% but carries negative shareholders' equity.
A low-yield dividend portfolio growing 8% annually doubles income in nine years, likely outpacing a 12% static yield that risks steady principal erosion.
Are you ahead, or behind on retirement? SmartAsset's free tool can match you with a financial advisor in minutes to help you answer that today. Each advisor has been carefully vetted, and must act in your best interests. Don't waste another minute; learn more here.
Imagine needing $19,000 to land in your checking account every single month, not from a paycheck but from dividends alone. That adds up to $228,000 over the course of a year, roughly what a dual‑income professional family spends in a pricey coastal city, or what a seasoned physician clears after taxes. The size of the nest egg required to generate that kind of cash flow varies by millions depending on the yield you target, and each possible yield brings a completely different set of compromises.

Cathie Wood, head of Ark Investment Management, often adds to her favorite tech stocks when prices swing.
This week, she's buying **** eX (SPCX), continuing to build her position after the newly public stock went through a volatile stretch following its first earnings report.
Last year, the flagship Ark Innovation ETF gained 35.49%, far outpacing the S&P 500's return of 17.88% in the same period. So far this year, Wood's flagship Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) is up 10.71% as of August 21, while the S&P 500 surged 12.11%, Yahoo Finance data shows.
As of August 21, her Ark Innovation ETF has delivered a five-year annualized return of -6.23%, while the S&P 500 has an annualized return of 11.56% over the same period, according to data from Morningstar.

Klarna Group plc (NYSE:KLAR) reported second-quarter net income of $9 million, reversing a $53 million loss a year earlier and remaining profitable after posting positive net income in the first quarter of 2026. Revenue increased 27% to $1.04 billion, while transaction margin dollars rose 42% to $446 million. Yet the shares closed 22.8% lower as investors focused on weaker expectations for the rest of the year.
Klarna Group plc (NYSE:KLAR) reduced its 2026 gross merchandise volume forecast to $149 billion to $151 billion from more than $155 billion and lowered its revenue outlook to $4.08 billion to $4.16 billion from more than $4.34 billion. Management cited weaker expectations for Germany, its largest market by volume. Currency movements accounted for approximately $600 million of the reduction in full-year GMV guidance.
The reported quarter showed continued growth and improved profitability, but the revised forecasts suggested that momentum in a core European market is slowing. For Klarna Group plc (NYSE:KLAR), the central question is whether better transaction economics can outweigh weaker growth expectations.
U.S. GMV increased 27%, outpacing companywide GMV growth of 18%, while credit loss provisions declined to 0.52% of GMV from 0.56%. Klarna Group plc (NYSE:KLAR) also increased transaction margin dollars to 42.8% of revenue, more than 4.5 percentage points higher than a year earlier.
Klarna Group plc (NYSE:KLAR) raised its full-year transaction-margin-dollar forecast to $1.62 billion to $1.65 billion and expects company-defined non-IFRS adjusted operating income of $280 million to $300 million. Transaction margin dollars, another company-defined non-IFRS measure, equal revenue less processing and servicing costs, credit loss provisions, and funding costs. The expansion indicates that higher volume is producing stronger economics after those direct costs.

We're back with more preseason reactions. I had my full team-by-team takeaways from Week 1 of the preseason here, and I'll update this week's action after watching the All 22 throughout the next couple of days. I have my own fantasy football draft this weekend with the boys in San Diego, so my reactions will be more delayed this time around. Expect a big update on Monday. Thanks for hanging in there.

Some key starters rested, but Brock Purdy and the starting offense had a 10-play drive to start the game. Deebo Samuel Sr. and Demarcus Robinson opened in 2-WR sets, while De'Zhaun Stribling played in 3-WR sets initially. He once again dominated targets. Stribling had a great comeback route, a quick out against off coverage and was on the receiving end of a perfect rep on a dig route where he snapped things off cleanly before hands catching the pass in stride while in traffic. If he would've caught his stutter-and-go touchdown up the sideline from the slot, Stribling would've been a Round 6 selection in a hurry. There's overwhelming evidence that the 49ers love him. He has already won the inside-outside hybrid Jauan Jennings role, and there's room for him to quickly be a 2-WR set starter and fantasy-relevant player early on. Samuel hasn't stood out. His ADP is at 123.7 (up 13.3 spots over the last seven days).
Kyle Shanahan was roasted for taking Stribling where he did (33rd overall), but he was also questioned for drafting RB Kaelon Black in the third round. Well, Black was excellent on Thursday, to the point that I believe he's already won the valuable Christian McCaffrey backup role. Black had two key pass protection reps versus blitzers, and this is something that also stood out on his college tape at Indiana. He also was flawless in picking the right hole with the right pacing on his rush attempts. His play speed is better than his time speed because he makes confident, quick decisions. He also finished a couple of runs by flattening defenders. We'll see if Jordan James can return from injury in time to make this a real competition, but for now, Black looks like a draftable player in fantasy football. If you think CMC is missing time, you should be drafting Black. It's as simple as that.
The starters rested, and the second-team offense had extensive run (26 snaps). Of note, WR Tre Tucker was included with the resting starters, while offseason signee Jalen Nailor needed to play the first three drives. As I wrote last week, Tucker was the starter in their 1-WR set look as well, so it's probably time to simply rank Tucker ahead of Nailor as the more proven outside receiver. Meanwhile, Jack Bech was even more buried. He only played four snaps in the first three drives with Nailor, and in total, he played 11-of-16 snaps in the slot. It's possible that a majority of his playing time will come in the less valuable 3-WR sets.
