Both could help the company maintain its impressive dividend growth streak, but they aren't the real dividend growth story investors need to be watching.
The real dividend growth story is Chevron's ability to think and act with a long-term mindset. The Iraq investment and pipeline are merely examples of decisions that allow the company to keep increasing its dividend. Smartphone component demand carried the print, and executives struck a confident tone about content growth across cameras, batteries and power circuits. But that optimism sat next to a quieter admission: the company's PC segment outlook for fiscal 2027 just got smaller, and the reasons behind that cut matter for anyone weighing this stock's next chapter.
High-performance mixed-signal revenue climbed 26% year over year to $210.7 million, as Cirrus Logic expanded its footprint across camera, battery, and power applications inside smartphones. CEO John Forsyth pointed to a multi-generation collaboration with the company's largest customer on camera controllers, plus continued work on a Smart Power IC for 3D sensing that stayed on schedule through the quarter. Audio, the company's flagship business, still grew 3.7% to $249.0 million on demand for custom boosted amplifiers and smart codecs, and Forsyth said those parts should keep shipping across multiple future product generations.
The company is also pushing past smartphones. During the quarter, Cirrus Logic taped out a new family of ******* og front-end components aimed at smart meters, with sampling expected in the September quarter and potential spillover into EV charging, data center metrology and grid monitoring. On the PC side, a new low-power smart codec built for always-on wake word detection drew strong customer interest, and products using Nvidia's RTX Spark platform are expected to ship later in 2026 carrying Cirrus Logic amplifiers and codecs. A fresh wafer supply agreement with GlobalFoundries locks in capacity and pricing through calendar 2028 and advances a shift toward domestic manufacturing in Malta, New York. Underneath it all sits $1.2 billion in cash and investments, no debt, and $598.6 million in trailing 12-month operating cash flow, funding $34.5 million in share buybacks during the quarter and another $50.5 million afterward.
The company trimmed its fiscal 2027 PC segment outlook, and Forsyth laid out three specific culprits: constrained supply of a key industry platform, memory and component shortages pressuring pricing across the PC market, and OEMs responding by delaying new model launches and stretching the life of older platforms. Those delayed models typically carry higher content and higher volume for Cirrus Logic, so Forsyth said the slippage "pushes out some of the growth we would otherwise have seen in our PC business this year."

On August 5, Clover Health Investments Corp. (NASDAQ:CLOV) reported second-quarter 2026 results that turned a year-ago loss into real profit. GAAP net income came in at $28 million, a $39 million swing from the $10.6 million loss posted in the same quarter last year. Medicare Advantage membership climbed to 157,309, up 48% year over year, and the company raised its full-year guidance across every major line item. For a stock that has spent years chasing profitability, this quarter reads like a turning point.
The headline number is the $28 million in GAAP net income for the quarter, but the six-month picture tells the same story with more weight behind it: $55.3 million in net income through the first half of 2026, compared to an $11.9 million loss over the same stretch last year. Revenue reached $743.2 million in the quarter, up 55.6% year over year, and consolidated gross profit rose 53.6% to $153.0 million. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled, jumping 139.2% to $40.9 million from $17.1 million a year earlier, which means profitability is scaling faster than revenue itself.
Clover backed those numbers by raising its 2026 outlook on every front. Full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance moved up to $70 million to $85 million from a prior range of $50 million to $70 million, and GAAP net income guidance rose to $20 million to $35 million from $0 million to $20 million. The company also closed the quarter with $443.0 million in cash and investments, up 13.8% year over year, giving it room to keep funding growth. CEO Andrew Toy pointed to the Clover ***** istant platform reaching more physicians and members as the engine behind "better health outcomes" alongside the growth, while Interim CFO Clay Thornton tied the improving cohort economics to the company retaining more of that value under its full-risk model heading into 2027.
The same filing shows that scaling a Medicare Advantage insurer is not cheap. Insurance net medical claims incurred rose 56.1% year over year to $615.4 million, tracking almost in step with revenue growth. The insurance benefits expense ratio, which measures how much of premium revenue goes toward paying medical claims, sat at 87.6% for the quarter, only 80 basis points better than a year ago, and the six-month figure improved by just 20 basis points. That means the cost of caring for members has barely budged as a share of revenue, even as the top line surged.
Spending on overhead grew too. Salaries, benefits, and general and administrative expenses rose 13.3% year over year to $124.4 million, while the adjusted version of that same cost line jumped 35.9% to $112.1 million. And even after the guidance raise, projected full-year GAAP net income of $20 million to $35 million is modest against total revenue guidance of $2.92 billion to $3.00 billion, a thin margin for a business still proving it can convert scale into durable profit.

Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) could become a weak link in the AI boom if OpenAI runs into trouble, according to Council on Foreign Relations senior fellow Sebastian Mallaby.
"If OpenAI runs into trouble, I think we can say that there's a good chance that Oracle may also run into trouble," Mallaby said on CFR's The Spillover podcast, pointing to Oracle's heavier debt load and dependence on OpenAI.
The warning comes as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says he is seeing signs of "unsustainable silliness" in the wider compute buildout.
Mallaby said Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta entered the AI boom with stronger balance sheets and more room to fund expansion internally. Oracle, by contrast, has relied much more heavily on borrowing to finance its data-center buildout.

Golf legend Tiger Woods has pleaded guilty to reckless driving following his March rollover crash and received a five-year driving suspension. He was also fined between $1,000 and $1,500.
According to Yahoo News, Woods initially pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving under the influence. The incident made headlines, given Woods' history of vehicle-related accidents. He was arrested immediately after the rollover crash in Jupiter Island, the Florida town where the golfer lives.
Motorbiscuit reported in March that Woods faced multiple non-felony charges, including driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a lawful test. The incident occurred after 2:00 p.m. when Woods was traveling at a "high speed" in a designated 30-mph zone while attempting to overtake a truck hauling a pressure-washing trailer.
The truck driver reportedly saw Woods' Land Rover closing in quickly and tried to move toward the edge of the road to give the SUV more room. However, the maneuver was not enough to prevent a collision, with Woods' vehicle striking the trailer before rolling onto its driver's side and sliding along the pavement for a considerable distance.

STUART, Florida (AP) — Tiger Woods entered a plea agreement Wednesday to a reckless driving charge following a rollover crash in March near his home in Florida.
The golf legend previously pleaded not guilty to a driving under the influence charge. Woods was arrested after his SUV clipped a truck and rolled over on its side on a beachside residential road on Jupiter Island. A sheriff's report said deputies found two pain pills in his pocket and he showed signs of impairment. He did a Breathalyzer test, which came out negative, but refused to take a urine test.
Woods, 50, appeared in a courtroom in Martin County, just north of Palm Beach County.
Neither Woods nor the person in the other vehicle were injured in the crash, according to officials. But his Land Rover caused $5,000 in damage to the truck, according to a police report. Woods had told a deputy that he was looking down at his phone and changing the radio station when he hit the truck.
Woods is among the most influential figures in golf, but his career has been derailed by multiple back and knee surgeries, car crashes and dependence on pain medication.

Tonight's White Sox starter, Luis Castillo, was pretty darn good until he wasn't. From 2019-2025, an ERA of 3.48 and a bWAR of 21.7. So, we went to our first Twins game in a few years last week. It was four of us – Mrs. James had been given four free tickets by a season-ticket holder who was gonna be out of town (taking a kid to college). We asked two semi-retired friends if they wanted to come, and they said "sure."
One of those friends has trouble walking long distances, as Mrs. James does. So I asked here if anyone had some suggestions for a parking ramp that was convenient for people with mobility challenges. gintzer provided helpful information, and the parking situation worked out well, ***** ody had to walk too far. Thanks, gintzer!
After the game, we got in the wrong exit line, and were stuck there for awhile. But, not the end of the world. Our car can go into electric mode for situations like that, so we weren't burning gas. We listened to the radio, made jokes about the other cars/drivers, chatted about events in our lives, etc. Just what you'd want with your favorite friends.

Former UFC champions Glover Teixeira and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua made weight Friday morning for their boxing match at Spaten Fight Night 3, and Teixeira will have a 10-pound advantage over his opponent.
Teixeira stepped on the scale at 240 pounds, while Rua weighed 230 pounds, both under the 242-pound limit for Saturday's boxing match in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Teixeira vs. Rua will have eight two-minute rounds.
The biggest weight discrepancy, however, was for the judo match between Olympic gold medalist Bia Souza and her opponent Raz Hershko. In a rematch of the 2024 Olympic heavyweight final, Souza weighed 293 pounds, a whopping 33 pounds heavier than Hershko at 260.

Rich Rowland, a catcher who played six seasons in MLB with the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox, has died according to an Instagram post by his son, Robbie.
"RIP Pops," read the text overlay on Robbie Rowland's post. "Pops, my hero man. My best friend & my role model.. Thank you. Words simply cannot express.. and if they could I wouldn't know which ones to use..I just feel so dang blessed to have had the best frickin dad a kid could ask for! I love you, pops."
Rowland played 98 games at the major-league level for Detroit (1990-93) and Boston (1994-95). He retired with a career batting average of .213 and nine home runs — all of which he hit in 1994, when he appeared in 46 games for the Red Sox.

A native of Cloverdale, California, Rowland was drafted by the Tigers in the 17th round of the 1988 MLB Draft out of Mendocino College, a junior college north of San Francisco. He rose quickly up the minor league ladder, advancing from Double-A to Triple-A to the majors in 1990 alone.

As the Most Magical Place on Earth, Walt Disney World continues to bring in Disney lovers from all around the globe. This includes plenty of celebrities. Even Sydney Sweeney has rocked the Mickey ears. You never know who you might run into at Disney, and sometimes you might even stumble upon stars from Full House. Jodie Sweetin recalled how she and John Stamos once got people's attention by hollering "have mercy," and it's everything.
Sweetin recently appeared on Josh Peck and Ben Soffer's Good Guys Podcast, where she reflected on her life and career, including (of course) Full House. She recalled attending Nostalgia Con in Orlando one year with a chunk of her former co-stars, and the trip wasn't complete without Disney World. The Saturday night of the convention, she, Stamos, and a few other cast mates went to the Magic Kingdom with some security and guides in tow. Since it was at night, they were much harder to recognize. However, Stamos had a perfect solution to the problem:
It was funny because we were walking around and it was nighttime. At night, people aren't quite paying attention. But the guides give you away. They see two guides walking, and they're like, 'Who's…? Oh my God.' John would get recognized, but it had kind of a lull in it where he was like, 'We gotta get recognized more. We gotta warn all the security…' So we'd be jokingly walking, and he'd be like, 'Have mercy!' And I'd be like, 'How rude!' It was ridiculous.

A few hours ago, the world lost legendary actor Tim Curry. The 80-year-old English actor died at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, California. A former heavy smoker and user of several substances, Curry also suffered several health issues throughout his life. While a cause for his death has not been shared, he had experienced multiple health issues after his stroke in 2012.
Soon after his passing, celebrities from across the world and from various professions came together to honor the legend. Tributes were paid by Carol Burnett, Lesley Ann Warren, Michael McKean, Kiefer Sutherland, Jane Seymour, Rob Schneider, Jennifer Tilly, Stephen King, Eric Idle, Hank Azaria, Lacey Chabert, Bruce Campbell, and others. Several pro-wrestlers also came together to honor his legacy. Multiple WWE, AEW, and TNA wrestlers, alongside a few indie names, also paid their tributes.
TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth paid his tribute and wrote, "King Chicken RIP." AEW's Willow Nightingale and WWE's Piper Niven also paid their tribute to the legendary actor. Former WWE Superstar and current indie wrestler Shotzi also wrote, "As a horror lover, Tim Curry scared me in the best way. As a theater kid, I wanted to be Tim Curry. I wanted to play the most bizarre, larger than life roles just like him. When I applied to AMDA, I had to write a paper about the performer who inspired me most, I chose Tim Curry. RIP to an absolute legend." Several others, including MMA veteran and actress Gina Carano, Nyla Rose, Frankie Kazarian, and others, also paid their tributes.

Since his DUI arrest in March, golf legend Tiger Woods has largely remained out of the public spotlight. He was involved in a rollover crash in South Florida while allegedly driving under the influence, with opioid tablets in his pocket after the crash.
Woods went to rehab in Switzerland following his arrest, before returning in May.
The 50-year-old Woods has rarely been seen since returning to the United States, but this week he made an appearance in a pre-recorded video for former pro golfer Notah Begay during the Payne Stewart Award ceremony.
Once the video surfaced online thanks to the Golf Channel, some fans expressed concern about his appearance, while others were happy to see the icon back in the spotlight. One user wrote, "Tiger looks a shell of his former self sadly," while another, "He looks normal. Off the steroids and painkillers hopefully."
