Scotland's Melanie Woods has won the Commonwealth Games women's 1500m T54 for the second time in under 40 hours after streaking to victory in the restaged final - however England's Ellis Kottas could not replicate her silver medal.
Woods set a new Games record to triumph in Glasgow on Wednesday evening, but it emerged on Thursday morning that Para-athletics authorities had decided the race should be held again following appeals surrounding a first-lap crash.
However, the Scot kept her composure in her home city to replicate her initial success, break the record again, and reclaim the gold that was already hers - in mind if not around her neck.
Kottas, though, finished fourth, having said she was "low-key traumatised" when the race result was overturned.
Woods led from the start in her home city, although Noemi Alphonse of Mauritius and Australia's Eliza Ault-Connell kept her honest over the first couple of laps.

The semiconductor sell-off has punished investors across the board. Leverage has made the damage far harder to recover from.
The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) has fallen roughly 25% from its June 22 peak while the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL), a leveraged ETF, has plunged nearly two-thirds over the same stretch.
The latest slide is part of a chip-stock crash that the rest of the market has largely absorbed.
The leverage unwind intensified overnight after SK Hynix (SKHY) reported earnings, sending South Korea's Kospi (^KS11) down as much as 13% before dip buyers cut the loss to 6%. Goldman Sachs traders still saw buyers stepping into memory stocks, suggesting the rout remains disorderly rather than capitulatory, even as the sell-off triggered a record wave of trading halts.
It would be easy to ******* ume that SOXL should be down three times the SOXX loss of 25%, or 75%. SOXL did not malfunction. The fund is designed to deliver three times the daily return of the NYSE Semiconductor Index.

A Dallas County jury last week hit freight broker C.H. Robinson with a share of a $604 million verdict in Peyton Lipe et al. v. Lupus Superior, LLC et al. The case stems from a deadly 2021 crash on Interstate 20 in Mississippi. A tractor-trailer operated by Lupus Superior and driven by Gorgonio Gonzalez plowed into stopped traffic. The wreck sparked a multi-vehicle fire that killed Jennifer Lipe, Benjamin Brewer, and Rhoderick Coleman. Two others were seriously hurt. Gonzalez also died.
The jury found the driver, the motor carrier, and C.H. Robinson all negligent. The jury ******* igned Gonzalez with 45% responsibility, Lupus Superior with 32% responsibility, and C.H. Robinson 23% responsibility. Lupus Superior, a Grand Prairie, TX based motor carrier, holds a satisfactory safety rating with the FMCSA. More importantly, the jurors decided Gonzalez was acting as a "borrowed employee" of C.H. Robinson and was carrying out a mission under the broker's control. That finding opens the door to full vicarious liability for the driver's negligence. C.H. Robinson has said it will appeal.
This verdict lands right after two major court decisions that reshape how courts treat liability in trucking and logistics. Understanding the difference between vicarious liability and negligent hiring is key to seeing what happens next.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader is done for the season due to a foot injury that wasn't helped by a late-night scooter accident last weekend.
Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters Thursday that Bader is out for the rest of 2026, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic. However, Vitello reportedly said that was already the case due to Bader's pre-existing case of left plantar fasciitis, rather than the scooter accident.
Vitello reportedly said the team was still sorting through the details of that accident.
A report from SFist provided new details earlier Thursday. Bader's accident reportedly occurred at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, when the 32-year-old crashed his scooter into a fire engine in the vicinity of Balboa Cafe, a popular bar in San Francisco's Marina District.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was originally reported to have not been at fault in his car crash earlier this month, but quickly told reporters he had caused the crash because he was reaching for his dropped cell phone.
That left an awkward question: If Shanahan was indeed at fault for the crash, why wasn't he cited by police in the aftermath of the crash?
A report from ESPN provided the answer on Thursday, with Palo Alto Police saying via statement that the citation decision came down to officer discretion and denying it was due to any sort of favoritism for the local NFL teams' head coach. They also said the other driver initially being labeled at fault in their database was due to an error.
From ESPN:
In a statement to ESPN, a police spokesperson said the attribution of fault to the other driver was the result of "a clerical error." And the responding officer exercised his discretion when determining whether to cite Shanahan.

Drake Von is facing even more serious legal troubles.
According to TMZ, the adult model is now in hot water in California after authorities arrested him for possessing a toxic substance in Los Angeles. This is now his 3rd run-in with the law in 2026 following a couple of serious charges in June.
Von, whose real name is Dawson Bacon, was busted Tuesday for misdemeanor possession of a substance similar to toluene, which is a colorless liquid that is highly toxic when inhaled and causes dizziness. Records show Von was released on Wednesday.
Last month, Von was charged on one count of misdemeanor DUI after reportedly crashing his car into another vehicle in Las Vegas. Photos released to TMZ even show the passenger door smashed in. The ****** star said he was sober during the crash, but nitrous was found in the vehicle.
Prior to his DUI, the actor was released on bail after he was arrested for allegedly strangling his partner. His charges include first-degree domestic battery, domestic battery by strangulation, and felony coercion constituting domestic violence with threat or use of physical force.

Two-time NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Larson's time was short in the Brickyard 400 on July 26. He only lasted 45 laps at the NASCAR Indianapolis race before his left-rear tire blew, causing him to spin, hit the wall, and end his day before the first stage was complete.
Larson, undoubtedly, would have liked to have spent more time on the track considering he was running second at the time of the accident, but maybe not as long as it took to complete the race at historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Corey Heim won the 160-lap race on the 2.5-mile track, which took more than three hours to complete.

The fallout from the messy 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is far from over. Following the controversial collision between McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Williams driver Carlos Sainz, the blame game has officially expanded to include a third party: Fernando Alonso.
In a classic case of paddock deflection, Williams Team Principal James Vowles has publicly come to his driver's defense, arguing that the Aston Martin veteran is actually the one responsible for instigating the Turn 3 crash.
To understand the latest accusation, you have to rewind to the halfway point of the race at the Hungaroring. Piastri, who was running as the net race leader, approached Sainz and Alonso to lap them. At Turn 3, Sainz moved back onto the racing line, making direct contact with Piastri's McLaren.
The incident cost Piastri crucial time, ultimately causing him to lose the race lead to his teammate Lando Norris (who went on to win the Grand Prix). A furious Piastri blasted the move as "unacceptable," while Sainz deflected the blame onto a blue flag system failure on his dash.
Now, Vowles has offered a completely different narrative, meticulously breaking down the sequence of events to shift the spotlight off his driver.

A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).
So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?
➡ Read more: Want to buy a house in 2026? Here's what you need to know.
Generally, experts don't foresee a housing market crash in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.
"We're not heading toward a housing crash; we're in a market correction defined by stability, not volatility," Hoby Hanna, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said via email. "Today's housing environment is fundamentally different from 2008. Homeowners have record levels of equity, lending standards are sound, and inventory remains constrained. What we're seeing now is a normalization, not a collapse, as the market adjusts to new economic realities. For buyers and sellers, this is a market filled with opportunity and resilience, not instability or uncertainty."

A Christmas sweater. A case of pink eye. A Hallmark movie set.
That's how Descendants: Wicked Wonderland star Malia Baker says her Hollywood career began. At 11, the Vancouver native snuck onto a set and walked away with her first acting credit.
Yahoo's kid correspondent, Gigi — yes, my daughter — is 11 now. She's the one interviewing Baker about her unlikely origin story and how she went from set crasher to a Disney princess who's currently starring in the fifth Descendants movie. Now airing on Disney Channel and streaming on Disney+, the film reveals a darker side of Baker's character, Chloe Charming, the daughter of Cinderella. Can you say evil Chloe?
Speaking to Gigi, the 19-year-old actor, also known for Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club, answers the kinds of questions only a preteen may ask. For instance: What's the name of the Descendants text chat? Does she have any squishies? What are the names of her pets?
Before long, though, the conversation turns to growing up — pursuing dreams, finding your people and the advice Baker wishes she'd gotten before starting middle school. Take it away, Gigi …

Stephanie White provides encouraging Aliyah Boston injury update after Fever win originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Aliyah Boston's night ended much earlier than expected Tuesday, but Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White offered an encouraging update after her team's 105-95 victory over the Seattle Storm.
Boston exited during the second quarter after tripping over Storm rookie Flau'jae Johnson and crashing knee-first into the court at Climate Pledge Arena. The four-time WNBA All-Star immediately winced in pain and needed help getting back to her feet before heading to the locker room. The Fever initially listed Boston as questionable to return, but she remained on the sideline throughout the second half.
White later suggested that Indiana held Boston out as a precaution, rather than because the center had been definitively ruled incapable of returning.
"No update other than, you know, wasn't really worth the risk for us in the second half," White told reporters. "Just want to be very conservative and make sure that she's good to go."

Aliyah Boston injury update: Fever star exits Storm game after frightening fall originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Aliyah Boston's strong start against the Seattle Storm came to a sudden and concerning end Tuesday night.
The Indiana Fever center left the game during the second quarter after crashing hard to the floor at Climate Pledge Arena. Boston landed directly on her right knee and immediately reached for the injured area as teammates and members of Indiana's training staff rushed over to check on her.
Boston was eventually helped to her feet and taken to the locker room. Although the Fever initially listed her as questionable to return, she did not check back into Indiana's 103-93 victory. The scene was especially troubling because Boston has already battled a lower right leg injury this season. She played only five minutes in Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game, giving her additional time to rest before the Fever resumed their regular-season schedule.
Boston was injured midway through the second quarter while running a pick-and-roll with Caitlin Clark. After setting a screen, Boston rolled toward the basket and appeared to get tangled up with Storm rookie Flau'jae Johnson. Her momentum carried her forward, and her right knee absorbed much of the impact when she hit the court.

Initial reports about San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan claimed he was not at fault for the car crash that occurred on July 14.
According to the California Crash Reporting System database — Case ID 5249308 — Shanahan was allegedly holding and using his cell phone prior to the crash. Still, Shanahan was not considered at fault. It was determined that the 21-year-old woman driving made an unsafe turn, which resulted in the crash. Both airbags were deployed.
The state of California prohibits holding and operating a cell phone while driving, according to Vehicle Code 23123.5(a), but Shanahan was not cited.
Chris Simms said he received pictures from Kyle's wife, Mandy. Simms said, "He was this close to maybe losing his right eye. The scar is so big right here. And he's still battling with this concussion. He's healing. His face looks a whole lot better, but this concussion, of course, being part of that kind of accident, is lingering, and it's giving him issues."
Here's more from Simms, via PFT live on Monday:

Crypto exchange BitMart said Sunday it will wind down its trading platform after nine years, sending its BMX token crashing and marking the second major crypto exchange to announce its closure in a week.
The exchange stopped taking new registrations, deposits, and orders from 01:30 UTC on Sunday. All spot and derivatives trading ends August 26, and the platform formally shuts on January 31, 2027.
The platform added that it "remains committed to managing this wind-down process in a responsible, orderly, and transparent manner." Withdrawals remain open, though BitMart warned that identity, device, sanctions, and source-of-funds checks could slow processing as users rush to exit.
BitMart blamed its "operating conditions, market environment, and future strategic direction," without saying which forced the decision. BMX, its exchange token, has crashed 81% over the past week to $0.057, cutting its market value to $19.6 million, according to CoinGecko data.
The platform lost $196 million to a hot-wallet breach in December 2021, one of the larger exchange hacks of that cycle, and covered customer losses.

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Since Russia's full invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the war has repeatedly spilled across Romania's border as drones violate the airspace of the neighboring European Union and NATO member.
Now Romania is trying something new to stop the incursions: shooting down the drones.
Romanian pilots shot down the first of three drones in as many days from F-16 fighter jets starting Friday as Russia intensified attacks against Ukraine near the border. After determining the drones were of Russian origin, Romania summoned Moscow's ambassador in protest and expelled a Russian diplomat on Monday.
Drones have crossed into Romanian territory multiple times from Ukraine to the north and east, including in May when a drone injured a mother and child after crashing into an apartment block in the eastern town of Galati along the Danube River.
Romanian authorities largely responded by scrambling jets, collecting debris, erecting fallout shelters near the border and frequently admonishing Moscow for its war spilling into its territory.

Marriage isn't on the agenda for Ant Anstead and Renée Zellweger, at least not right now.
The Born Mechanic host, 47, shared an update on his five-year romance with the Oscar winner, 57, during an interview with The Telegraph. According to an article People published Tuesday, July 28, Anstead told The Telegraph that the couple isn't feeling any urgency to tie the knot. "I still believe in marriage, but right now we're really happy," he said, "We don't need the pressure of a label."

The two have kept their romance largely out of the spotlight since they met in 2021 on the set of Anstead's discovery+ show, Celebrity IOU: Joyride. "Renée is a hands-on car girl. She used a grinder to cut metal, she was welding, she was on the spanners," Anstead said, per the report, noting she "never normally does [projects] outside film."
One of the first things that impressed Anstead about the Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy star was her confidence behind the wheel. "A lot of people in America don't drive stick [manual cars] but, on the first day of filming, we needed to relocate a car for a scene," he said, according to the article. "Ren jumps in, goes, 'I'll do it!', slams it into first, and off she goes. I'm like, 'Wow. This lady really knows her cars.'"

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles are set to make two-time Pro Bowl selection Jalen Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, a person with knowledge of the deal told The **** ociated Press on Tuesday.
The Eagles and Carter announced that they agreed to terms on a four-year extension through the 2031 season. The person, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because financial terms hadn't been announced, said the contract includes $106 million guaranteed.
The Eagles already had picked up the fifth-year option for the 2027 season for Carter, the ninth selection in the 2023 draft. His extension is one less distraction for the Eagles as they open training camp this week.
Carter was runner-up for the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2023 to Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson. He has 13 1/2 sacks in 43 career games — he missed three games last season with injuries — and was a key contributor when the Eagles won the Super Bowl for the 2024 season.
The 25-year-old Carter won two national championships in college at Georgia, where he was involved in a crash that killed a teammate and a recruiting staffer. He was given probation and a fine.

Tennessee **** ans coach Robert Saleh had the following message to share with San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan before the start of training camp as Shanahan is dealing with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in a car crash earlier this month that are keeping him away from the 49ers facility on a limited basis.
Saleh said he has spoken with Shanahan since the accident.
"I talked to him a couple days after it happened," Saleh said. "He's very fortunate. We're all very fortunate that he's still here. I know just talking to him and his wife Mandy. (What) you see now, isn't what it was two weeks ago.
"Thank God he's OK. Thank God his family is in tact. He's doing great. He looks great. Saw him on FaceTime a couple days ago. The surgeon did a great job. Not easy for him to go through what he went through."
Shanahan and Saleh have a history that dates back to 2006 when Saleh was a quality control coach with the Houston Texans and Shanahan was the team's wide receivers coach. Shanahan hired Saleh as his first defensive coordinator upon becoming San Francisco's coach in 2017, then re-hired Saleh ahead of the 2025 season for a second stint with the 49ers. In total, Saleh and Shanahan have worked together across nine NFL seasons.

MCD and PG fit Cramer's AHY template today, with both showing price weakness without fundamental deterioration. MCD is down 10% YTD despite beating earnings.
SCHD is up 24% YTD, closing its AHY window and making it better suited as a core dividend holding than a crash-opportunity buy.
Act now: the ***** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and P&G didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Jim Cramer laid out a dividend strategy that filters income investing: buy quality names when a market-wide decline has doubled their normal yield. He calls them Accidental High Yielders, or AHYs.
The setup came from a caller who identified himself as Stackwell, worried about chasing yield into dividend cuts. "You want good bread, you might as well go to a qualified baker," Stackwell said. Cramer's answer was direct: "I don't want dividends that are so high yielding that something's fishy. What I want are very solid companies with good balance sheets to pay dividends that we reinvest constantly. That is nirvana for me."

Demolition derbies are all about the destruction, but a crash in Ohio resulted in one driver being airlifted to the hospital as well as a lifetime ban for the other driver involved.
The crash happened at the Fayette County Fairgrounds, roughly halfway between Cincinnati and Columbus, on Saturday, July 25. The Washington Court House Record Herald reports that driver Hunter Wolf of Lynchburg, Ohio, delivered a direct hit to the driver-side door of a competitor, causing serious injuries to that driver.
Emergency crews extricated the victim from his vehicle and established a landing zone at the fairgrounds for a medical helicopter due to the severity of the driver's injuries. The Record Herald reports that the victim has not been identified and the extent of the injuries are not known.
Derbydog Inc., which organized the demolition derby, issued a lifetime ban to Wolf on Monday, July 27, according to a statement posted to Facebook by owners Jeremy and Frances Hejduk.
"While we can't absolutely know the intentions of every driver, the obvious nature of the direct driver's door hit by Hunter Wolf proves he has absolutely no concern for safety for fellow drivers," the Hejduks said in the statement. "This type of behavior will not be tolerated by Derbydog."
