The Cardinals subsequently called up Blaze Jordan to fill the primary 3rd base duties in Nolan Gorman's absence and has performed admirably in his place, but has surely left a lot to be desired, producing a .255/.279/.372 slash with only 1 HR, hit in his 2nd big league game, and has an OPS below .700 at.651.
The one area that Blaze has seemingly overperformed expectations has been on the defensive side, producing +4 OAA. Jordan doesn't strike out (13.6%), but he also doesn't walk (3.2%), and his chase rate is (34.7%), which is well below average, about 10% below which should be a significant point of emphasis in the offseason. Somehow Blaze Jordan has become Yohel Pozo with a little more positional versatility. Blaze Jordan has displayed a weak-side platoon-sized split, producing a 122 wRC+ against LHP while mustering a paltry 52 wRC+ against RHP.
Jose Fermin is another player who has filled in at 3rd base the last couple of months, producing a .240/.307/.359 overall this season as he has rotated between 2nd, 3rd, LF, and CF primarily. What Fermin lacks in impact, he makes up for in quality of his at-bats. Producing an above-average chase rate of only 21.9%, a whiff% of 13.9%, and a K rate of only 12.9%. Fermin's bat speed, HH%, and xSLG are all areas that Fermin is well below league average. Again, he has done an admirable job filling in, but he's not an immediate solution to the position and fits in quite well as a utility player off the bench.
Understanding that JJ Wetherholt is a stalwart at 2B and his impact and defense up the middle are far more valuable than him at a corner, you leave him there and allow him to grow into one of the best 2B in baseball. Bryan Torres doesn't have the arm strength or quality of contact to impact the baseball enough that is required from a primary 3b, and Cesar Prieto is more of a 2B defensively and has yet to record a hit in 26 PA in 2026, so it would be incredibly difficult to argue in favor of a long runway at that spot for him. Ramon Urias is on the mend and could be nearing a return to the big leagues. A weak-side platoon Gold Glove-caliber 3rd baseman is an excellent complementary piece but is not someone who will provide the necessary impact that could give this offense the needed boost it desperately is searching for. A lot of these options listed above are just depth at the position. So, that leaves an open-ended question: what about Nolan Gorman?

Shortly before top Yankees prospect George Lombard Jr. homered in his MLB debut on Tuesday night in the Bronx, his younger brother, Jacob Lombard, homered in his pro baseball debut with Single-A Jupiter.
"I haven't talked to him yet, but I heard," George Lombard Jr., 21, said after the Yankees' 2-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
"That's pretty awesome. It's probably really awesome for my parents. I would bet that they were watching the game on the phone. I was really excited for him, too."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – New observations of some of Neptune's moons and rings are providing evidence of a catastrophe that occurred billions of years ago around the solar system's outermost planet in which a Pluto-sized interloper caused a celestial demolition derby.
Researchers used NASA's James Webb ***** e Telescope to examine the composition of three of Neptune's small inner moons — Proteus, Larissa and Galatea — and its inner dusty rings, and detected clay minerals that one might expect to find deep inside certain worlds in the outer reaches of the solar system. These magnesium-rich minerals are known to exist on the dwarf planet Ceres, which orbits in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, and in some meteorites.
"These minerals require prolonged contact between liquid water and rock to form," said planetary scientist Ryleigh Davis, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Diego, and lead author of the study published in the journal Science Advances.
"The moons themselves are far too small and cold for that chemistry to have occurred in place, so the clay had to come from somewhere else — the deep interior of a much larger ancient world. Finding this material on Neptune's inner moons points to a catastrophic event in Neptune's past that destroyed those ancient worlds and exposed their deep interiors, with the small moons and rings we see today re-forming from that wreckage," said Davis, who worked on the study while at Caltech.

A true farewell homecoming is underway for Summit County golfer Ryan Armour, as he played professionally for the first time at Firestone Country Club during the 2026 Kaulig Companies Championship.
This is the final year for the event at Firestone before it moves to California next season with a new sponsor.
"My heart is full, I'm very fortunate that they gave me a spot," Armour said after Round 1 on Thursday, July 9. "I'm excited to be here. I want to play."
The 50-year-old Armour, who now lives in Jupiter, Florida, has himself on the leaderboards. His first-round 2-under-68 puts him in a tie for ninth heading into Round 2. Jerry Kelly leads with a 65.
Armour is from Silver Lake and graduated from Walsh Jesuit High School and Ohio State. He grew up going to Firestone all the time as a kid.

According to a report from Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal — and later announced by Versant — both stars are confirmed to return for a second Optum Golf Channel Games, with the event moving to Wednesday, Dec. 16 on Golf Channel and USA Sports. Scheffler and McIlroy are, for now, the only two names locked in. The eight-man field that filled out the inaugural event, Ryder Cup captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald among them, along with Shane Lowry, Haotong Li, Luke Clanton and Sam Burns, hasn’t been rebuilt yet, at least not publicly.

With his 50th birthday approaching, and the opportunity to begin competing on the senior circuit, Armour, who lives in Jupiter, Florida, took the opportunity to spend extended time with his family. STUART, Fla. (AP) — Prosecutors are allowed to review medical records related to Tiger Woods ' March vehicle crash and subsequent arrest in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence, a judge has ruled.
Judge Darren Steele approved an agreement last week between Woods' defense attorney and the State Attorney's Office that allows prosecutors to request records from Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital, where Woods was taken following the March 27 crash. The case is being tried in Martin County circuit court, just north of Palm Beach County.
The judge signed off on a similar agreement in May that grants prosecutors access to all prescription medication records for the legendary golfer at a Palm Beach pharmacy from the start of the year through the end of March. For both hospital and prescription records, prosecutors have agreed to defense attorney Doug Duncan's request for a protective order limiting the release of records only to prosecutors, law enforcement officers, state experts and Woods' defense team.
Woods has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence. A sheriff’s office report said deputies found two pain pills in his pocket, and he showed signs of impairment after his SUV clipped a truck's trailer and rolled onto its side.
Woods was traveling at high speeds on a beachside, residential road on Jupiter Island with a 30 mph (nearly 50 kph) speed limit when his Land Rover caused $5,000 in damage to the truck, according to an incident report. Woods agreed to a Breathalyzer test that showed no signs of alcohol, but refused a urine test, authorities said.

State prosecutors in Florida intend to subpoena Tigers Woods’ medical records related to his hospital treatment in the aftermath of his March 27 rollover car crash and subsequent arrest for suspicion of DUI.
Per multiple reports, prosecutors filed that notice Monday in the Martin County Circuit Court. The subpoena will be issued on June 30 and seek records from the Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital in Stuart, Florida, where Woods received treatment in the aftermath of the crash.
The subpoena will seek "any and all reports documenting statements of the patient regarding alcohol or chemical substances use" and "any and all drug screen results.” It will also seek the names of hospital personnel who treated Woods after the crash.
Per the report, Woods has until June 25 to object to the subpoena request. Woods’ attorneys have not publicly responded to the filing.
Per police, Woods was driving his Range Rover roughly four miles from his Jupiter Island home when he clipped the back of a pickup truck’s trailer, causing his SUV to roll over onto the driver’s side. The crash took place around 2 p.m.

Data center operators can buy all the GPUs they want, but standard utility grids cannot supply electricity fast enough to power them. The solid-oxide fuel cells of Bloom bypass the grid entirely by providing immediate, off-grid, on-site baseload power using natural gas or hydrogen.
In the Q1 2026 earnings report, Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) reported record-breaking revenue of $751.1 million, up 130.4% year-over-year from $326 million in Q1 2025. Bloom is contracted to provide up to 2.45 gigawatts of continuous, on-site power to the site. To put this into context, 2.45 GW is enough electricity to power roughly 1.8 million homes, or roughly 2.5 times the total power capacity of all data centers built in Northern Virginia.
