With the heat index at 110 degrees before kickoff at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and the temperature on the artificial turf at Campbell-Williams Field reaching 160 degrees, the Ohio State Buckeyes were the only team on the field for pregame warmups.
Seeking an edge in a game with a betting line set at 1.5 points during the week, the Texas Longhorns were across the street in the school's brand-new, $80-million dollar Frank & Wofford Denius Football Training Complex.

Texas volleyball has shown flashes of brilliance through the first three weeks of the season.
It has been swept (Louisville, Nebraska) and it brought out the brooms themselves (TCU, USC). The Longhorns won the fourth set against No. 8 SMU 28-26, but ended up losing the match in the fifth set.
The final game before conference play was a 3-1 win against No. 6 Wisconsin and it is probably, statistically, Texas' best game. Head coach Jerritt Elliott called it "the most organized and dialed-in that we've been all season long.
"We've had about three and a half total practices, so we're just trying to kind of get a rhythm," Elliott said after the match Sunday afternoon.
The Longhorns found it against the team that eliminated them from the NCAA Tournament last season in their most complete game yet.

College football is unpredictable and delightful, which is why we live for what happens on Saturdays. And Week 2 absolutely delivered, from a stunner in Stillwater to an instant classic in Austin.
Each Sunday, I'll publish my biggest takeaways from the college football weekend. I'll highlight the most interesting storylines, track College Football Playoff contenders and specifically shout out individual and team performances that deserve the spotlight.

I know he took the Longhorns to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff in back-to-back seasons, but we live in a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately world. A game profile that should never go in the loss column did just that because of some curious decisions and gameplay in the second half.

The stars weren't out in the night sky just yet Saturday at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, but there were some sightings on the sidelines.
In one of the biggest Texas football games of the season against Ohio State, celebrities, politicians and Texas Exes came to Austin and were spotted throughout the sidelines. Earlier in the day, ESPN "College GameDay" featured Sen. Ted Cruz, who was booed by the Longhorn faithful and Austin native; movie star Glen Powell as the guest picker on the show.

It's halftime in Austin with Ohio State and Texas engaging in one of the most anticipated nonconference games of the college football season. The Buckeyes used some Longhorn mistakes and some excellent play on both sides of the ball to take a 20-3 lead into the locker room, which is banking the national narrative in this one.
We like to look back on the first half and take three observations and takeaways from what we saw through the first 30 minutes of action, and in this case, there's plenty to talk about. The defense hasn't been very stingy in stopping the run through the middle, but it has been very opportunistic in forcing two turnovers. Both of them led to two scores and have really been the difference in the game so far. You have to think that the turnovers aren't going to continue, so Ohio State will have to continue to make plays while getting equal possessions.

Ohio State football defensive end Zion Grady exited the Sept. 12 game against Texas on Saturday due to an injury.
The defensive end was taken off the field with 9:48 remaining in the second quarter of the game when the Buckeyes led the Longhorns 10-0.
Here's what we know about Grady's injury:
Grady was seen laying on the field after a Texas first-down run. He struggled to put weight on his right leg as two trainers ******* isted him off the field and straight into the medical tent.

While we're not sure the reason why, the crowd booed Cruz and heckled him throughout the nearly 10-minute segment with Rece Davis. College GameDay crowds are usually bipartisan and sports-focused, so perhaps the jeering was purely because of Cruz's spotty track record with his teams winning when he attends the games.
