Ohio State just announced its partnership with JPMorgan Chase and will place the bank's logo on jerseys across all 36 varsity sports from the 2026-27 season.
According to ESPN, the agreement is expected to generate nearly $17 million per year, making it one of the richest jersey patch deals in college sports to date. While the record-breaking deal represents a major financial win for the Buckeyes, it also sparked a heated debate among college football fans over the continued commercialization of the sport.
Many fans questioned whether jersey sponsorships belong in college athletics.
"Didn't realize Ohio State was poor. Yikes. This is a bad look," one fan wrote on X.
However, not everyone opposed the partnership.

Ohio State football defensive coordinator Matt Patricia had a peculiar way of introducing himself to his players upon joining the Buckeyes.
On a July 22 episode of "Downs 2 Business," former Ohio State safety Caleb Downs described what his first interactions with Patricia were like, including an interesting task he asked each player to complete.
"First day, he got in the meeting, he was like, 'Hey guys, we're going to hand out these sheets of paper. I want you to write down the best five players on this defense and the worst five players on this defense."
Downs continued: "He's like, 'If you say yourself, and a coach doesn't say you, you're lying.' "
"Worst five is crazy," said Downs' brother, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs.

Ohio State has inked a jersey patch sponsorship deal with JPMorgan Chase, sources tell On3. The Buckeyes become the latest college football brand to add a jersey patch ahead of the 2026 season.
The deal spans the full athletic department and all 36 varsity sports. The investment also provides new resources to support Ohio State athletes through NIL opportunities, enhances the Buckeyes' overall competitive success and facilitates academic partnerships across the university.
Ohio State becomes one of the biggest college football brands to date to add a jersey patch to its uniform. The JPMorgan Chase logo will sit above the Big Ten patch on the front of Ohio State's jerseys.
JPMorgan Chase has a longstanding relationship with central Ohio, as one of Columbus' largest private employers. The firm has brought on more than 1,700 Ohio State alumni in the past five years, too. The deal was brokered by Learfield.

Unlike other blue bloods, Michigan doesn't often reel in high five-star prospects. For every Rashan Gary and Bryce Underwood, there are classes without a single five-star in it that are developed into powerhouse football teams. The class of 2026 is the former, as Michigan brought in two five-stars this offseason in Savion Hiter and Carter Meadows. Meadows has the makings of a star, but will need some time to get ready for Big Ten action.
Meadows hails from Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C., one of the more well-known powerhouse high school programs. In fact, he was high school teammates with fellow Wolverine Kainoa Winston, and Evan Link also attended Gonzaga. In high school, Meadows was 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds. He possesses a frame that NFL scouts tend to drool over out of an edge rusher.
Naturally, a high schooler with elite athleticism and an NFL frame coming from a national powerhouse of a school was bound to get attention nationally. Meadows received offers from just about every major program, with 247Sports listing 29 offers. Carter made four official visits — South Carolina, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan, in that order.
In typical fashion, Carter's recruitment came down to Michigan and Ohio State. While certain sites may try to convince you the Buckeyes weren't going all in on Meadows, that would be incorrect. Meadows committed to Michigan, as Lou Esposito and company were able to close on Meadows, and Kyle Whittingham and the new staff were able to retain him.
As for his on the field skills, Meadows is about as good as they come for his age. He is an explosive edge with incredible bend and football IQ. He plays smart and is an avid run-defender. Meadows is also advanced for his age when it comes to pass-rushing moves.

There was no mistaking the message being emphasized to the Ohio State men's basketball team.
Starting with a July 20 practice, the Buckeyes were spending a full week focusing on one side of the court. It's the end where opponents have gotten what they have mostly wanted for the past several seasons, and it was the primary focal point as coach Jake Diebler looked ahead to a looming exhibition trip to Puerto Rico.
Defense topped the plans, an emphasis that even carried over to the weight room.
"At any moment, (Diebler) makes us drop down, get in a stance and hold it," guard Curtis Givens III said after a July 21 practice. "This week we're just trying to get better at defense and understanding our defensive concepts better."
That emphasis is not just for the two games the Buckeyes will play in Puerto Rico. It wasn't until the end of the week that Ohio State even got copies of the rosters for its forthcoming foes.

The Ohio State basketball program is starting to get a lot of attention from high school recruits, and the latest is a four-star guard out of La Porte, Indiana. At 6-foot, 1-inch, and ranked as the No. 9 combo guard and 55th overall prospect in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Joshua Tyson named Ohio State in his final six schools on Monday.
Also included in those six schools were Cincinnati, Clemson, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Xavier. There does not appear to be a leader in the race, and no timetable is available for a commitment, but the Buckeyes seem to be clearly making an impression.
The news comes just days after top-ten center in the 2027 class, Jaydn Jenkins, also had Ohio State as one of the schools he is considering, naming the Buckeyes in his top five. There are all kinds of disclaimers with this, of course. It's still way too early to get excited, and OSU is a part of a handful of teams, all with good pedigrees, so the competition will be fierce.

Former Ohio State basketball star Jae'Sean Tate is returning to Houston. The Rockets announced the re-signing of the former Buckeye forward to a one-year deal on Thursday. According to Hoops Hype's Michael Scotto, the contract is worth $3.07 million with a partial guarantee of $1.04 million.
Tate is entering his seventh year with the Rockets after banking the odds and finding his way to Houston after first playing in Europe. He was signed to an NBA contract in 2020 and quickly became a starter who could do a little bit of everything for the Rockets, even making the All-NBA Rookie First Team, becoming only the second non-NBA-drafted player to do so.
Tate has averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 ***** ists during his six years with Houston, but those numbers are dragged down a bit by last season's 2.8 points per contest in limited action. He may be on the tail end of his career, but he has been a mainstay in Houston longer than any other player on the team. Hopefully, this coming season will see a bit of a renaissance, being paired with former Ohio State all-time leading scorer and star guard Bruce Thornton.
Tate becomes only the 15th player in Rockets' history to play at least seven seasons with the club. We wish Tate success and the chance to get a contract beyond this next season.

Ohio State will likely always be the king of sports in Columbus, but good on the local professional and semi-professional franchises for embracing that. The Columbus Clippers recently announced an Ohio State-themed game and custom jerseys, and the Columbus Blue Jackets paid homage to OSU when they played an outdoor game in the 'Shoe against the Detroit Red Wings.
Sometimes, the sports even cross, like the news we received on Thursday when the Ohio State women's hockey team announced the hiring of former Blue Jacket Jack Johnson. The former NHL defenseman played for Columbus from 2012-18 and then again for his final season in 2024-25. He carved out a niche for hitting and blocking shots while he wore the blue sweater, and now he'll be taking his knowledge to Nadine Muzerall's program.
"We're really excited to have a new member join our family here at Ohio State," Muzerall said in a release. "To bring in Jack Johnson is going to continue to make our program better, both on the ice and really contribute to recruiting. When we talk about Ohio State, we talk about family and how we're all united. I think it's very important that he exemplifies that. He's going to bring that to our program and I think our recruits are going to see that and I know our girls are going to feel that."
Johnson does bring a winning pedigree to Ohio State. He was a part of the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup-winning team in 2022. He played his college hockey -- believe it or not -- at Michigan, so coming to the Buckeyes has to be a little bit awkward. Something tells me he'll fit in just fine.
"It's such a privilege and honor to be involved with the best women's college hockey program in the country," Johnson said. "I can't wait for the season to start and to continue Ohio State's pursuit of national championships."

Last month, USC baseball lost pitching coach Sean Allen, who was named the new head coach at Lamar. To replace him, the Trojans hired Hawaii’s Keith Zuniga. However, it appears as though that will not be the only **** istant coaching change that Andy Stankiewicz and USC make this offseason.
On Wednesday, it was reported that hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Travis Jewett will be leaving the Trojans for Vanderbilt, where he will take over as the de facto general manager. However, it took less than a day for USC to find his replacement, as Wednesday night, reports surfaced that the Trojans will be hiring veteran **** istant and longtime friend of Stankiewicz Bill Mosiello as their new hitting coach.
“Mosiello comes to USC after being an **** istant at several big-name programs in his career, including Cal State Fullerton, Arizona State, and four different schools now in the SEC,” Shotgun Spratling of 247Sports wrote. “But he is most well known as being a top **** istant at TCU for 11 of the last 13 years where he helped push the program to new heights. The Horned Frogs went to four consecutive College World Series appearances from 2014 to 2017 with Mosiello as the hitting coach.
“He had been the **** ociate head coach under Kirk Saarloos the last two seasons after a two-year stint as Ohio State's head coach. He went 60-51 with the Buckeyes and took them to their first Big Ten Tournament in a half decade in 2024, but left the position to return to Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs saw dividends right away as the team average improved 25 points in 2025, and TCU returned to the NCAA tournament (only to be beaten by USC) after not making it in 2024.
“But after TCU struggled to meet expectations this season, missing the postseason for just the second time in Mosiello's 11 years with the program, the Horned Frogs made multiple changes to their **** istant coaching staff, including parting ways with Mosiello. That opened the door for Mosiello and Stankiewicz to finally unite after more than 50 years of friendship.”

Notre Dame is really stacking the talent along the defensive line with its 2027 football recruiting class. On Thursday, one of the big additions to that group finally made a public announcement. 4-Star defensive lineman Brayden Parks gave his commitment to Marcus Freeman, Charlie Partridge, and Notre Dame via an announcement ceremony on CBS Sports.
The 6'3" 305 pound defensive tackle from Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Illinois, chose the Irish over his other finalist, the Oregon Ducks. Parks also held major offers from all over the country including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, and many more.

It's a little early to start reimagining this year's NFL draft, as the class has yet to even complete its first training camp, let alone play in an NFL game.
But that is where we are, days away from camp. Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated recently conducted the exercise of redrafting the 2026 college class knowing what we know now about these players.
The first two picks remained unchanged. The Las Vegas Raiders selected Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza at No. 1, and the New York Jets took Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey second overall.
At No. 3, the Arizona Cardinals selected Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese instead of Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. Next up, at No. 4, the Tennessee **** ans stay the course with Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate.
The New York Giants, at No. 5, and with Reese, their actual pick this year, select his Buckeyes teammate, linebacker Sonny Styles.

Even after exiting the College Football Playoff before the national championship game last season, Ohio State football remains at the top.
On July 20, USA TODAY ranked Ohio State football the No. 1 college football program in the nation entering the 2026 season, as voted on by a panel of experts.
The panelists referenced Ohio State's record since 2012 (165-21) and that the Buckeyes have at least 10 wins in every full season but one since 2005 to back up their ranking.
"It is simply the Bowl Subdivision gold standard and the envy of every program in the country in and out of the Big Ten," the USA TODAY panelists wrote.
Alabama and Georgia received the second and third spots on the list, respectively. The next-highest ranked Big Ten school was Michigan at No. 7, regarded as "one of the more consistent programs in the country."

So a lot of offseasons in Columbus bring the same question. Who is next? This year, the answer may not be one player. It may be an entire unit.

2027 five-star prospect David Gabriel Georges will announce his college commitment on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 205-pound running back will choose between Tennessee, Ohio State and Ole Miss.
Gabriel Georges' commitment time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.
He is from Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 247Sports ranks the 2027 five-star as the No. 2 running back nationally and No. 1 prospect in Tennessee.
Tennessee offered Gabriel Georges a scholarship on July 31, 2024, while the Buckeyes extended an offer on Aug. 1, 2024. Ole Miss also offered a scholarship to Gabriel Georges on July 31, 2024.

For the second straight year, Ohio State and Texas will stage one of the most anticipated college football games of the season early on when the Buckeyes travel to Austin on Sept. 12 in Week 2. Last year, Ohio State was able to dictate the game with its defense and won a huge matchup that boosted the Buckeyes' résumé and likely kept Texas out of the College Football Playoff.
The same could be true in 2026, according to Fox College Football's Joel Klatt. While appearing on his own podcast, Klatt took some time to talk about the massive collision between what should be two top-five teams when the two kick things off. He believes the winner will be in good shape, but that the loser could have an uphill climb to get into the CFP.
"The loser of this game is behind the eight-ball. Ryan Day and Steve Sarkisian know exactly how important that game was to their teams and their programs a year ago," Klatt said. "Look at what Ohio State was able to do. They had eight new starters on defense. They generated a ton of confidence -- a ton of confidence in their brand new quarterback, Julian Sayin, and their new defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia. Based on what they were able to do and how they controlled the game against Texas at home early last year.
Klatt then went on to talk about this year and the difference in teams, but also how difficult the schedules are after the **** anic collision at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
"You're going to have experienced guys -- this is not Arch (Manning) in his first real experience as a starter," continued Klatt. "This is not Julian Sayin, and his first time as a real starter. Now you've got incumbent quarterbacks. There's loads of expectations. These two teams are going to start in the top five; there's no doubt. Look at these schedules, they have remaining. Ohio State -- remaining big games on the schedule after traveling to Texas. They've got to go on the road to Iowa, Indiana, and USC in their schedule next year, and they've got home games against Oregon and Michigan. That's not easy. Same can be said for Texas. Check this out -- Texas' remaining big games, they've got road games at Tennessee, Missouri, LSU, and Texas A&M -- that one to finish out the year. They've got home games against Florida and Ole Miss. Not going to be easy there, and obviously the big one, the neutral in Red River against Oklahoma. So, a loss in this game, each of these teams are going to be fighting uphill, and you're talking about major brands that do not expect to miss the playoffs."

The saga of the recruitment of 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges appears to be captivating fans of Ohio State and Tennessee (if that's what you want to call it). First, there was an article by On3, having interviewed Gabriel Georges' uncle, that seemed to indicate that the Canadian product (now playing in Tennessee) had made his mind up and was just waiting for the commitment date of July 22. That piece seemed to be very friendly to the Vols over the Buckeyes for his commitment.
But then Gabriel Georges posted on social media that he didn't say anything, putting those comments from his uncle in doubt. And now, not to be outdone, the country's No. 2-ranked running back in the class of 2027, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, has gone on the record to state that he hasn't made his mind up yet, just eight days away from telling the college football universe where he will be attending school.
In a brief discussion with On3's Chris Low, Gabriel Georges says that he's still weighing everything.
"It’s hard. You feel this way, like you know, and then it’s sort of 50-50," Gabriel Georges told Low. "People will say the 22nd of July is far off, but honestly, for me, it’s pretty close."
The bottom line here is to just wait this thing out. It appears as though Ohio State is in a good spot, but it also appears it could go the other way, and Gabriel Georges decides to commit to Tennessee. Heck, maybe he surprises us all and chooses Ole Miss -- though doubtful. Either way it goes, we wish the young man well and hope he gets everything he's looking for.

One of Ohio State's primary targets in the 2028 class has made a decision, and will be playing for a rival.
Anthony Blalock Jr. is a 4-star offensive lineman from Youngstown. Ohio. He was ranked as the No. 204 in the 2028 class and the No. 6 player in the state of Ohio according to the 24/7 Sports Composite rankings.. Blalock announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday. It was an unfortunate result for Ohio State, who have continued to try to make an effort to keep in-state talent home.
Blalock had emerged as one of the top prospects in the state, standing at 6-foot-5, 305 pounds. He had the type of size that drew the attention of several Power Four programs, including Indiana, Florida State, Texas Tech, and Georgia Tech. Ohio State stayed in the recruiting process until the very end; however, Alabama ultimately won out.
For the Buckeyes, the loss stings because Blalock Jr. could have been a great story about a local kid staying home and turning into a foundational piece for a future Ohio State line. Perception will matter, and Alabama coming into the state and stealing one of the best it has to offer is a humbling experience.
For Ohio State, the focus will shift to the next tier of offensive linemen targets in the 2028 class. This recruitment also served as a reminder that despite the reputation and momentum that Ohio State has had recently on the recruiting side, there is no room to relax.

What's up y'all? We are back once again with another Big Ten basketball preview, and today we're gonna be focusing on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State finished with a 21-13 record last season, going 12-8 in conference, which was good for an 8th place finish in the Big Ten.
The Buckeyes will be going into next season missing three of their top four scorers in Bruce Thornton (19.9 ppg), Devin Royal (13.7 ppg) and Cristoph Tilly (11 ppg). They will, however, be bringing back their 2nd leading scorer in John Mobley Jr., who averaged just under 16 points a game last year, so they will have a decent foundation to build upon.
One new name to keep an eye on for OSU this year is Jimmie Williams, a 6'5" transfer from Duquesne who averaged 15.1 points and 4.5 rebounds a game last season. Williams is a solid 3-point shooter, shooting 34% from deep this past season, while also possessing the ability to drive past a hard closeout to get to the rim.
Another incoming transfer is Justin Pippen, son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, who's coming in from Cal. Pippen averaged 14.2 points, 4.6 ******* ists and 3.9 rebounds in ~31 minutes a game for the Golden Bears last season. He's not the most efficient scorer, shooting a less than ideal 37% from the floor, and a downright abysmal 32.7% from three last year. If he can improve his efficiency, he has the tools to be a legitimate weapon for Ohio State this season.
One last name to watch is incoming freshman forward, and #7 recruit, Anthony Thompson. Thompson is an athletic 6'9" forward with an absurd 7'4" wingspan, giving him the versatility to be played at either the 3 or 4. He's not the most athletic prospect in the world, but he's got more than enough length to make up for any athletic shortcomings, on top of him being a legitimate scoring threat. He's currently protected as a late lottery pick in the next NBA draft, but don't be surprised if he rises on draft boards and ends up in the top 5.

Earlier this year, Burrow was in Las Vegas for UFC 326: Holloway vs. Oliveira 2, and he was shown in the crowd during the broadcast.
In Dec. 2023, Burrow attended UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas, as he recovered from a season-ending wrist injury.

Earlier this year, Burrow was in Las Vegas for UFC 326: Holloway vs. Oliveira 2, and he was shown in the crowd during the broadcast.
In Dec. 2023, Burrow attended UFC Fight Night in Austin, Texas, as he recovered from a season-ending wrist injury.

We're nearing that point in the sports calendar where there's not a lot going on. With all due respect to baseball fans, it's just not enough. The 2026 World Cup is exciting, but with that wrapping up soon, we will then head back to the preseason speculation as we wait for the college football season to kick off.
If you've got to start scratching the college football itch early, here are eight games to consider rewatching.
This was an instant classic. Michigan needed to beat the Crimson Tide for a chance to play in the National Championship. The game went into overtime after a season riddled with "scandal," but the Wolverines came out on top.
The perfect ending to a perfect season — Michigan finally won it all. The end of the Jim Harbaugh era ended with the team pulling down the banner. The Wolverines would end up having quite a few players drafted into the NFL. Some of those players are already Super Bowl champions, too.
Finally, the Wolverines' prodigal son was able to take down the Buckeyes. In 2021, Michigan took care of Ohio State and won in the trenches. Propelled by a phenomenal run game and the pass rushing talents of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo, the Wolverines won The Game for the first time since 2011.

The Ohio State Buckeyes stretched their aggressive recruiting outreach to California in recent years. It's how the Buckeyes reeled in five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and past star quarterback CJ Stroud.
Now the Buckeyes have their eyes set on someone comparable to the latter. Especially one hailing from Stroud's home region.
Stroud dominated the prep competition out of Rancho Cucamonga High in California's Inland Empire. The "I.E" has emerged as quite the quarterback hot spot since Stroud. Washington Commanders QB and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner from LSU Jayden Daniels represents one more QB from that region, who was once offered by the Buckeyes too out of Cajon High in San Bernardino.
Now the Buckeyes are rising as the favorite to land this ultra-talented passer. But must fight off Alabama and a reported late surge from Big Ten rival Oregon.
Four-star for the class of 2028 Josiah Boyd is emerging as a potential future Buckeye. The 6-foot-4 dual-threat stars for Vista del Lago High down in Moreno Valley.

We've done it folks. We've worked through another week and if you're anything like me we you're relaxing with your dog while watching your favorite TV program. At least, I hope that's what you're doing. In the meantime, I did ask all of you to give me your favorite for the 2026 Big Ten football season. Obviously Purdue is going to struggle once again this year. I mean, I know that there was quite a lot of roster turnover, some good, some bad, some with big red flashing question marks since we don't know enough about them, so with no Purdue championship on the horizon who is the team to watch?
I gave you a series of teams to choose from but also allowed you to choose "other" which is always a ******* y choice. I mean other could be anybody, it could even be Purdue! So much to think about there. So, the results are in, let's see who you think.
The Ohio State Buckeyes received the majority of the votes with 52%. I was honestly sort of surprised to see someone win an outright majority. The Indiana Hoosiers come in second with 23% and I still can't believe this is the world we live in. Dogs and cats living together!

Well, what do we have here? Based on multiple reports, the cows have come home, ******* has frozen over, and pigs have flown. That's because somewhere, somehow, the four most historic Ohio basketball programs are getting together to play an event on the same court. That's right. Ohio State, Cincinnati, Xavier, and Dayton are all set to play in the CareSource Invitational, an exhibition event to raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention.
So which of the other three teams will the Buckeyes play? They will be matched up with Cincinnati, while the other game will pit Dayton vs. Xavier. To add a little intrigue, the game will take place outdoors at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Cincinnati Open, on October 7, very early on in the preseason. If the weather becomes an issue, the event will be moved to UD Arena in Dayton. However, the preference is clearly to have this thing be an outdoor event to add to the atmosphere.
“I think this is great. This is great for the basketball community in Ohio. And it’s been a long time coming,” Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler said on Thursday. “I’ve been vocal about this since I first got the job and wanted something like this to happen. There are so many moving parts. There are so many moving parts to make something like this happen. It takes a lot of people. And I’m just excited. Everyone got together to make it happen.”
We've been calling for an annual event like this for a while here on Buckeyes Wire, and we'll have more on that later, but for now, the only way you can see the CareSource Invitational is to purchase tickets because it will not be televised. Last week, we gave Ohio State fans a list of burning questions surrounding this year's football team and asked them to pick the one that they thought was the most important to be answered if the Buckeyes were going to have a successful 2026 campaign.
Despite the fact that many national pundits expect the OSU offensive line to be one of the best in the country, the recent lack of reliability — especially in crucial situations — that Buckeye Nation has witnessed from the unit in recent years apparently has the fanbase spooked.
The winner, going away, was "Can the offensive line be one of the best units in the country in November and the postseason?" I think we all expect the veteran unit of Ian Moore, Luke Montgomery, Carson Hinzman, Austin Siereveld, and Phillip Daniels to be solid, but with the gauntlet schedule that OSU has on tap, will they be able to withstand their regular-season murderer's row in order to be playing their best when it comes time for the postseason?

Over the weekend, news broke that 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges had decided on his college and was waiting until his commitment on July 22 to let the rest of the recruiting world know. Based on that report and some of its contents, the situation sure looked good for Tennessee and questionable for Ohio State (the two schools he is left to choose between).
However, that status of things was put in doubt when Gabriel Georges responded to those claims on Monday. It was a very short but very clear response to what made the rounds over the weekend. It put things further up in the air about where the recruitment stands, and only Gabriel Georges really knows where he'll end up.
This recruitment is getting a lot of attention because of the visibility. Gabriel Georges is one of the top two running backs in the 2027 class and may command quite the sum in name, Image and Likeness.
We'll keep an eye on this story and where things go with Gabriel Georges, but thankfully, we won't have that long to wait. Until then, we'll just wait on the Tennessee native to announce.

With just weeks remaining until Ryan Day gets his crew back on the field for fall camp, we need to be thinking about what this season could possibly bring.
