Luxury fashion retailers are accelerating store closures as slowing demand, economic uncertainty, and shifting consumer spending force even the industry's biggest names to rethink their global footprints.
Over the past year, several luxury companies have announced plans to shrink their retail networks as they prioritize stronger-performing locations, streamline operations, and invest in long-term growth rather than maintaining expansive store portfolios.
Kering closed 133 stores across its brands in 2025 and plans to shutter an additional 100 locations, with further reductions under review. The French multinational luxury goods group owns some of the most recognizable luxury houses, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen.
Ferragamo also expects to close roughly 70 stores between 2025 and 2026, while Burberry shuttered 21 locations during fiscal 2026.
Industry ****** ysts do not expect a rapid recovery.

Burnley midfielder Josh Laurent has praised the open communication he has with new boss Nicky Hayen ahead of their upcoming Championship season.
Hayen has been vocal about being open to exits for players who wish to leave.
"He is very honest and very open, I think it's nice," Laurent told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"You know exactly where you are as people and as players and you can work from that. I don't think you could ever be angry with someone's opinion, and now it's clear.

Hearts head coach Wouter Vrancken admitted he will likely have to bring in further defensive reinforcements after several key players were struck down by injury in the opening three games of the season.

Paris couture sensation Matières Fécales, which just last week dressed Zendaya in a winged goddess gown at "The Odyssey" premiere in New York City, has joined a growing number of luxury brands that are turning the wedding aisle into the new Hollywood red carpet.
The fashion house created three wedding looks for singer/model Gabbriette Bechtel, who married English musician and 1975 frontman Matty Healy last weekend in L.A., in front of a crowd that included Charli XCX, George Daniel, Emily Ratajkowski, Alex Consani and more.
Following the nuptials, the brand issued a press release touting the event as the official launch of Matières Fécale bridalwear. The announcement arrived in my inbox on the heels of one from Saint Laurent with photos and dressing credits for Logan Lerman's Saint Laurent wedding tuxedo, and just weeks after Taylor Swift tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in a still unseen custom Jonathan Anderson Dior gown. Reports in Italy claim that Bologna have shown an interest in signing Napoli midfielder Michael Folorunsho, who has returned to the Stadio Maradona following his loan spell with Cagliari in 2025-26.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna have requested information around Folorunsho, who made 28 Serie A appearances last term while Cagliari finished relatively comfortably in 14th place.
Folorunsho has been on Napoli’s books since 2019, but has only made six league appearances for the Partenopei and has been sent out on loan eight different times, turning out for Cagliari, Fiorentina and ****** as Verona in the top flight.

Laurent Mekies has not ruled out the possibility of the Red Bull Racing team reviewing its rear wing concept after Max Verstappen suffered another crash during the British Grand Prix weekend.
The four-time champion appeared to have masterfully salvaged what had looked like a weekend slipping away from him and was on course for a podium finish, only for it to unravel during the closing stages of the race. Verstappen appeared to lose control of the RB22 at the high-speed Stowe corner on lap 48.
The crash effectively ended his race as he was unable to get the beached car out of the gravel. Following the race, Verstappen pulled no punches in expressing his feelings about the car and its rear wing,describing it as "dangerous" and noting that the crash could have been far worse at a circuit with less run-off area.
Asked about the inverted rear wing and Verstappen's frustration, Mekies did not dismiss the possibility of the Milton Keynes-based team reverting to a more conventional rear wing approach. While he stopped short of attributing the crash solely to the rear wing concept, the Red Bull team principal stressed that the team would leave no stone unturned in exploring its options.

As for the footwear, those knee-high leather boots were certainly a choice. They completed the Saint Laurent vision, but I wouldn't have wanted to be wearing them in that heat.

Mario Gila is apparently heading out of Lazio, but his next destination could be Atalanta rather than Napoli.
The 25-year-old Spanish defender still has one year left on his contract with the Italian capital club. But while Claudio Lotito and Co. prefer to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next June, they aren't willing to make any discounts on their €25-30 million asking price, at least for now. After all, Lazio will have to share the profit with Real Madrid, who have a 50% sell-on fee.
In recent weeks, Napoli cemented themselves as the ultimate favorites in the race for the defender's services. The Partenopei have even agreed personal terms with the player's agent, Alejandro Camano. Therefore, a five-year contract with a €3 million net salary awaits Gila in Naples.
But as Alfredo Pedulla reports, Napoli have yet to find an accord with Lazio, leaving the whole operation in jeopardy. The Italian journalist reveals that Aurelio De Laurentiis' club has only offered €15 million plus bonuses thus far, which remains far from Lazio's price tag, even though Napoli are willing to add a counterpart to the negotiations, namely Rafa Marin or Lorenzo Lucca.
On the other hand, Atalanta have come closer to Lazio's asking price with their offer, surpassing the €20 million threshold (including add-ons). Moreover, Pedulla notes that Gila remains fond of his former head coach Maurizio Sarri, so he could be enticed by a reunion in Bergamo.

On June 9, the same day the Crew traded defender Yevhen Cheberko, Columbus announced the signing of free-agent defender Brooks Lennon.
"I’m extremely excited to be joining the Crew,” Lennon said in a statement. “It’s an incredible organization with amazing facilities, and the way Columbus likes to play fits my style perfectly. I can’t wait to get going."

More than 890 people were arrested across France in riots following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG's) Champions League victory, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said on Monday.
