Brian Ortega has pulled out of his scheduled UFC 331 bout against Renato Moicano with an injury.
'T-City' has endured harship in recent years. The 35-year-old has only managed five fights in the last five years, averaging one per year. But it isn't just his activity that has been slacking. His last win came in early 2024, which is his lone victory in five. Now out of the rankings and looking to move up a division, Ortega needed a stroke of good luck to come his way. That hasn't happened; in fact, bad luck seems to be looming overhead.
After falling out of the fight due to injury in March, Brian Ortega hoped a rescheduled clash against Renato Moicano would go smoothly. But just days ahead of his proposed appearance at UFC 331, injury strikes again.
While classified as an undisclosed injury, a picture has surfaced online that potentially shows the true cause. An image of Ortega with a significant cut and swelling above his left eye has been
With days to prepare for an opponent, Renato Moicano has been removed from the Los Angeles card entirely.

The Detroit Lions will be without Isiah Pacheco considerably longer than originally hoped.
Dan Campbell revealed Monday that the veteran running back underwent surgery and will be "out awhile." Campbell did not specify whether the procedure addressed Pacheco's knee or back, the two injuries that derailed his first training camp in Detroit.
That is a rough turn for a player the Lions signed in March expecting him to provide a physical complement to Jahmyr Gibbs. Pacheco arrived in Detroit after four seasons with Kansas City, where he rushed for 2,537 yards and won two Super Bowls.
Pacheco initially suffered a sprained MCL during training camp. At the time, Campbell believed the Lions had avoided a major problem, something we covered when Detroit first received encouraging news on the injury.
The knee later improved, but a back issue emerged late in camp and became the larger concern. Detroit ultimately placed Pacheco on injured reserve before Week 1, guaranteeing he would miss at least the first four games.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - An unorthodox pitching plan worked about as well as the Houston Astros could have hoped Friday. Their offense could not capitalize against another American League contender.
Junior Caminero cranked a walk-off, two-run home run against Bryan Abreu to send the Astros to a 3-1 loss in the opener of a series against the Tampa Bay Rays, who became the first American League team to clinch a spot in this year's playoff field. Houston, which entered the day with a three-game lead in the AL West, ended it with a 75-73 record.
Using an opener, three Astros pitchers combined to hold the Rays to two hits before the ninth inning. Jonathan Aranda hit a one-out double against Abreu. With first base open, the Astros opted to face Caminero, the AL home run leader, who crushed a first-pitch fastball 417 feet to ignite a celebration at Tropicana Field.
The Astros totaled nine hits. But they were 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position, with neither of the hits scoring a run, and stranded six men on base.
A 1-1 tie reached the ninth inning. The teams took different routes there. Rays starter Drew Rasmussen worked seven innings, navigating eight hits. One run against him scored on a fielder's choice. He threw 92 pitches before Tampa Bay turned to its bullpen.

Pete Davidson marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by honoring the father he lost that day. The comedian joined 9/11 Day's UNIITE For Good campaign, turning grief into a call for kindness.
Davidson's father, Scott Davidson, died while responding to the attacks in New York City. This year, Pete encouraged Americans to remember the tragedy by reviving the spirit of unity that followed.
Davidson shared his story in a video for 9/11 Day. "He was a firefighter for Ladder 118, Engine 205 in Brooklyn Heights," he said. "My dad loved being a fireman, and he loved saving people," Davidson added. Scott died while responding to the attacks alongside fellow firefighters.
The Saturday Night Live alum explained why UNIITE For Good felt fitting this year. "9/11 is usually a tough day," Davidson said, according to the campaign. He explained that participants could perform a good deed and pass the idea along. The campaign then added those pledges to a nationwide map.
The goal was to cover the country with visible examples of people helping others. Davidson hoped the initiative could make an emotionally difficult anniversary feel slightly lighter. The campaign also focused on what happened after September 11. Communities came together and helped strangers despite their differences.

Carole Radziwill is opening up about a famous family heirloom that came with an unexpected story.
The What Remains author, 63, shared the story during an appearance on Haley Sacks' Financial Tea podcast, on Thursday, September 10. "I did inherit Jackie Kennedy's Cartier watch. I ended up selling it at auction," Carole said
After Sacks suggested the watch was "cursed," Carole explained, "There was something about that watch that linked all of us — Jackie Kennedy in the '60s, me in the '90s, and then my best friend in the 2010s — and all three were widowed in their 30s."
Carole was married to Anthony Radziwill, Kennedy Onassis' nephew and John F. Kennedy Jr.'s first cousin, from 1994 until his death from cancer in August 1999. JFK Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette, died in a plane crash the previous month.
During her appearance on Financial Tea, the Real Housewives of New York City star admitted she eventually decided to auction the watch at Christie's because she hoped Cartier would buy it back.

The U.S. Treasury Department said Wednesday that it plans to buy $6 billion of government debt this week as part of an effort to reduce long-term borrowing costs and maintain liquidity in the bond market. The buyback operation, which triples the normal level of $2 billion per week, will continue at a higher level moving forward, Treasury said, with at least $4 billion in debt purchased each week for the next few months, and perhaps longer.
This week's buyback, which is scheduled for Thursday, will focus on 10- and 20-year Treasury bonds. Yields have been rising on those bonds, along with other durations, as investors confront the reality of persistent inflation, massive investment in artificial intelligence and rising government debt levels around the world.
Treasury Secretary Bessent said Tuesday that the buyback operation is intended to reduce the "fever that was building" in the bond markets.
The markets did not respond as hoped. Treasury yields rose after the announcement Wednesday, with the yield on long-duration bonds rising as much as 5 basis points in volatile trading, though yields fell back in later trading.
"It doesn't seem like the patient's feeling much better," Adam Josephson of Sakonnet Research wrote in a note, per Investopedia.

The national average price of gasoline hit a record high over Labor Day weekend as new escalations in the war between the U.S. and Iran triggered a spike in oil prices, with Brent crude futures hitting $100 per barrel for the first time since July.
"Average gasoline prices rose in nearly three out of five states over the last week, while diesel surged in every state — with some climbing nearly 50 cents per gallon in just seven days," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum **** ysis at GasBuddy, in his weekly newsletter. "The milestone many hoped to avoid has arrived: the national average price of gasoline on Labor Day set a new record for the holiday, eclipsing the previous mark of $3.83 per gallon set in 2012."
As of Sept. 9, regular gas was $4 per gallon, with diesel sitting at over $5 per gallon, according to AAA. Crude oil prices were trading above $90 per barrel, and Brent crude was above $100 per barrel.
However, despite elevated fuel prices, as a new season approaches, there may be hope for drivers who are feeling the pinch.

The New England Patriots might be without star wide receiver A.J. Brown for longer than hoped.
An MRI on Thursday reportedly confirmed that Brown had suffered a high ankle sprain, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. As a result, Brown is expected to miss at least four weeks with the injury, per Rapoport. High ankle sprains typically require four to six weeks of recovery.
Brown suffered the injury during the third quarter of Wednesday night's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, with the 29-year-old receiver grabbing at his lower left leg after an incompletion. Brown stayed down while athletic staff tended to him before he was helped off the field.
Given the recovery timeline, it's possible that the Patriots will choose to place Brown on injured reserve, which will require him to miss the next four games.
This story will be updated.

Prior to Thursday's victory over the New England Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks added some depth to their secondary with the elevation of AJ Finley to the 53 man roster to feel more secure in the home opener. With that came the corresponding move of cutting 2025's sixth round pick Bryce Cabeldue. If the Seahawks hoped to get him back onto the practice squad, their hopes were squashed.
Per Mike Garafolo, Klint Kubiak added the guard to his squad over in Las Vegas. With familiarity with the scheme that he runs, it makes sense that Kubiak would want Cabeldue to join him with the Raiders. With the ability to play both right guard and left guard, as well as right tackle and left tackle, that helps Kubiak's squad have depth along the offensive line that ranked dead last in the league in 2025. Improving the offensive line was a focus for Kubiak, adding Tyler Linderbaum to anchor the interior at center, Evan Neal, and drafting Trey Zuhn III.
As it stands right now, Cabeldue is the third left guard on the Raiders depth chart per ESPN behind Spencer Burford and Antonio Mafi.

Elon Musk's first wife, Justine Musk, says he declared himself the "alpha" in their marriage while they were still on the dance floor at their wedding.
Justine revisits their relationship in Alex Gibney's new documentary Musk, describing a marriage in which she says Elon repeatedly criticized her and treated her more like an employee than a partner. "I learned the term 'gaslighting' through my relationship with Elon," she said, according to PEOPLE.
She said he made her feel "insignificant" and was "constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking." Justine also recalled their first dance after marrying in 2000, when she says Elon told her, "I am the alpha in this relationship."
The nearly four-hour documentary premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 8. Elon did not participate in the film despite Gibney's efforts to interview him. Gibney told The **** ociated Press that he initially approached the project as an admirer and hoped Musk would agree to sit down with him.
Justine said the imbalance in their marriage went beyond the "alpha" comment. In the documentary, she describes Elon talking down to her and repeatedly pointing out ways he believed she fell short.

When the New York Giants declined to pick up the fifth-year option of cornerback Deonte Banks earlier this year, it seemed like the beginning of the end for the embattled 2023 first-round pick.
But these aren't the Giants we've become accustomed to over the past 12 years. Failure is no longer in their vocabulary and will no longer be acceptable under new head coach John Harbaugh.
The Giants didn't pick up Banks' option because he hadn't earned it. His declining performance over the past two seasons didn't warrant the $12.63 million extension, but they weren't giving up on him. Banks would get a chance to get back into the good graces of the team with a solid offseason and training camp.
That has happened. Banks has worked hard and taken the advice the new coaching staff has been giving him. He appears to be not only a different player, but the player the Giants hoped they were getting when they traded three draft picks to move up one spot in the order to select him three years ago.
"Tae has been amazing just in his press coverage, very strong, very physical, a cerebral player," teammate Greg Newsome II said last week.

Juventus have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund full-back Daniel Svensson, as the Swede continues to impress at the German club and could be allowed to leave if the right offer arrives.
Juve had a busy summer transfer window, but in the final days, they were keen to sign a new left back and hoped they could push Juan Cabal out of the squad, as he was wanted by Atalanta. However, that move never happened because Cabal's transfer did not go through.
Despite Cabal remaining at Juve, the Bianconeri continue to keep an eye on potential options for the position. Svensson has now emerged as one of the players attracting their attention, with his performances for Borussia Dortmund making him an appealing target.
The Swede has continued to shine at BVB, and his form has understandably attracted interest from other clubs. Juventus are now considering whether he could be the right player to strengthen their options at left back, although any potential deal would require a significant financial commitment.

Germany is risking gas shortages this winter if it turns out to be colder than previous years, the country's gas storage ******* ociation has warned.
With current gas storage levels at 54.52%, the industry ******* ociation, INES, said the best it could do by November 1 would be 77%. This would be more than the latest target set by the German government but less than the usual level of gas in storage as of November 1. This means that if it gets very cold in December and January, shortages may emerge.
However, it is far from certain that Germany's gas storage caverns would reach the 77% full level, the head of INES suggested, as quoted by Reuters. Reaching this level by November 1 would require an injection rate of 1 terawatt-hour daily, and injection rates over the past three weeks have been lower than that, Sebastian Heinemann said.
At current injection rates, Germany's storage will only be 63% as of November 1, he also warned. Per Gas Infrastructure Europe, Germany is currently injecting gas into storage at a rate of around 900 GWh daily.
If the winter is mild, 77% full gas storage would be enough to cover seasonal demand and leave Germany with 38% full storage by April 1, the executive noted. However, if the winter turns out colder than hoped for, some days in January could see a gap between gas demand and supply of as much as 25%.

Bank of Nova Scotia (NYSE: BNS) is offering investors a nearly 3.5% yield. The average bank's yield is around 2.2%, and the S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) has a tiny 1% yield. If you are looking for a high-yield bank stock, Scotiabank, as it is more commonly known, is probably worth a close look. But the real dividend story is about consistency. Here's what you need to know.
Recently, Scotiabank made a major change in its business. For a long time, the Canadian bank had skipped the U.S. market, focusing instead on Central and South America. That differentiated it from its large Canadian peers, which had focused on growth in the U.S. Scotiabank's plans didn't work out as well as hoped, so it shifted gears. Now, like its peers, it is increasing its focus on the U.S., with a goal of offering its services from Mexico to Canada. Those three countries are contiguous and important trading partners.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
What's notable is that Scotiabank has made this shift without resorting to a dividend cut. In fact, the biggest impact that dividend investors felt was a one-year pause in dividend increases. When you look at the company's history, however, that makes total sense. Scotiabank has paid dividends every year since 1833, over 190 years ago. And, unlike many of the largest U.S. banks, it also didn't cut its dividend during the Great Recession.
Scotiabank's efforts to grow in the U.S. market will likely be a net positive, but the real story here isn't about growth. This is a slow-and-steady business that will help you build wealth over time. Dividend reinvestment would allow for powerful compounding, given the above-average yield and incredible dividend history. The real story, then, is consistency, which is powered by the bank's Canadian operations.

Selling a home for $890,000 leaves roughly $328,000 taxable after the $500,000 joint exclusion, adding $9,240 in Medicare surcharges two years later.
Section 121's $500,000 joint exclusion ceiling hasn't risen with inflation since 1997, leaving longtime homeowners exposed to large taxable gains on ordinary homes.
Rebuilding cost basis with documented improvements, deferring optional IRA withdrawals, and budgeting for the Medicare surcharge from proceeds reduces the sale's financial impact.
Many financial professionals are salespeople paid on what they push, not whether you end up wealthier. A fiduciary is the opposite. The SEC legally requires them to put your interests first. For more than 40 years, the house did exactly what its owners hoped it would do. A couple who paid $62,000 for their home in 1984 closes on the sale this year at $890,000. The IRS lets them exclude up to $500,000 of gain under Internal Revenue Code Section 121. Any taxable gain left after the exclusion, basis adjustments and selling expenses flows into adjusted gross income (AGI). That figure helps determine the modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) Social Security uses to calculate Medicare's income-related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA) two years later. The sale closes in 2026. The Medicare bill arrives in 2028.

Manchester City completed the signing of Allan from Palmeiras during the lattee stages of the summer transfer window. The Brazilian winger is one of Manchester City's more intriguing signings for some time. Allan has taken a different route to earn his move to City. He rose through the ranks at Palmeiras before establishing himself on the right wing for Abel Ferreira's side. It was hoped that Allan would be in the City squad for last Saturday's match against Coventry City. But that wasn't to be. Instead, he could be in line to make his City debut against FC Porto tonight.
It was a surprise that Allan didn't make the bench for Manchester City's win over Coventry City last Saturday. However, it was reported by Enzo Krieger for CityXtra that Allan wasn't deemed fit enough to play at the Etihad. However, that situation has quickly changed. Allan has been included in Manchester City's travelling squad for tonight's match against FC Porto at the Estádio do Dragão. Also, he did train with his teammates yesterday. At this stage, it would be a major surprise if Allan wasn't at least on the bench for the opening fixture of Manchester City's 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign.
There would seem to be little chance that Allan would start tonight against FC Porto. He hasn't been at Manchester City for long and the Brazilian winger also wasn't fit enough to make the bench against Coventry City. Stranger things have happened but it would be unlikely that Allan will start tonight.
However, there is a chance that Allan could come off the bench tonight. Perhaps being an impact substitute may be the best way for Maresca to introduce Allan to the fold. The Brazilian winger is a quick winger blessed with quality dribbling skills and the ability to work hard on both sides of the ball. Maybe that is how Allan will make his City debut and tonight may be the right setting for Allan to play a small role for Enzo Maresca's side depending on how tonight's match unfolds.
Allan was included in Manchester City's travelling sqaud for tonight's match against FC Porto. So there is a chance that one of the more intriguing signings that City have made could get on the pitch for the first time as a Manchester City player. Whether or not it occurs remains to be seen but Allan's City debut is edging ever closer.

Pink faced backlash after reposting a statement from an advocacy group calling for an apology from Macklemore for advocating for Palestinians during his opening act for Ed Sheeran in New Jersey.
Pink reposted the message from the group StopAntisemitism on her Instagram stories. The message started with the word "Awful," suggesting that Jewish fans had purchased their tickets to see Sheeran but instead experienced what it referred to as anti-Israel propaganda. According to the group, the Seattle rapper had accused Israel of falsely committing a genocide, and concertgoers were owed an apology and a refund. Pink did not comment and has not yet given a reason for posting the message.
Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, performed for Ed Sheeran in MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5 as part of his Loop Tour. Dressed in a keffiyeh, the rapper told the crowd of more than 80,000 people that he wanted to stand in the stadium and say, "Free Palestine." He mentioned that he hoped people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank knew they had not been forgotten and that every human being deserved freedom.
Macklemore then sang "Hind's Hall," a protest song he released in 2024, as images of Gaza played on the stadium screens. Moreover, the rapper spoke directly to the Jewish audience, saying that criticizing Israel was not criticizing them.
His performance led the Israeli American Council to file a petition asking Sheeran and his management to remove the rapper from other tour dates. The petition referred to his show as a concert and not a rally for activists and politics. It also claimed that Macklemore used his global platform to promote a one-sided political agenda. The petition asked whether the speech and visuals were approved before the event.

Chelsea are working on an early deal to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in a bid to avoid competition for the midfielder next summer.
Bournemouth turned down a £64m offer from Chelsea during the summer transfer window and made clear that any further approaches would be rejected. The Cherries had hoped to tie Scott down to a new deal, but talks so far have failed to find an agreement.
Chelsea are keen to capitalise and want to secure Scott's future ahead of next summer. TEAMtalk are reporting that the Blues are exploring whether a transfer could be agreed in advance of next summer, to avoid a bidding war with Premier League rivals. Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United have all tracked Scott's progress at the Vitality Stadium.
Scott has emerged as one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League at Bournemouth and is expected to make his England debut in the coming months, having trained with Thomas Tuchel's squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Chelsea are prepared to bide their time and wait for Scott next summer. Xabi Alonso has identified the midfielder as a primary target, as Chelsea look to replace Enzo Fernandez.

Kyle Kirkwood closed out his 2026 IndyCar Series campaign on a high note, driving from sixth on the grid to a runner-up finish behind Team Penske's Scott McLaughlin in the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The strong drive cemented a career-best second-place finish in the championship standings for the 27-year-old Florida native.
Kirkwood, driving the #27 Andretti Global Honda, concluded the 18-race season with 545 points, placing 86 points behind champion Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing. Over the course of the year, Kirkwood led Andretti Global's **** le challenge, recording two wins, six podiums, 10 top-fives, 15 top-10s, and one pole position.
Reflecting on the finale, Kirkwood acknowledged that points strategy dictated his approach late in the race.
"Yeah, it was," Kirkwood said regarding securing second in the championship. "Yeah, we played it a little bit safer than I might have hoped for the last race of the season, but we had to for the championship. We made all the decisions based on that. Probably could have had a go at Scottie (Scott McLaughlin) at the end on the first few laps on reds. The number one goal was to make the tires last. That's what we did. Came home with a second, which is something to be proud of."

Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown did not have the orange-and-blue debut he had hoped for, but he delivered a clutch performance when his team needed him the most.
Brown passed for 259 yards in Auburn's 17-16 win over Baylor on Saturday in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, but could not find the end zone through the air, and he ended the day with the first three-interception game of his career. However, Brown's legs became the deciding factor in a crucial moment in the 4th quarter.
Brown scored what became the game-winning touchdown with 3:21 remaining on an 11-yard designed run. The touchdown was set up by keepers that gained 2 and 5 yards, respectively.
Brown credits Auburn's mantra of "play the next play" as motivation to score the go-ahead touchdown late in the game.
"That was our mentality going into the game. Every drive it was play the next play," Brown said postgame. "Follow (Jeremiah) Cobb. He led me to the promised land and protect the ball as I go into the end zone. That was really it."

The Tosh Lupoi Era for the Cal football team began in Berkeley on Saturday night with a full house at Memorial Stadium and plenty of thrills. What it ultimately lacked, however, was a victory for the Bears, who saw UCLA score three fourth-quarter touchdowns to claim a 45-24 victory with a majority of Cal fans clearing out of their seats before the final whistle.
It seemed nothing could stop Cal after sophomore Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele delivered three consecutive completions to take the Bears 87 yards into the end zone in just 38 seconds to cut the Bears' deficit to 21-17 toward the end of the first half.
With the Memorial Stadium home crowd roaring and the powers of their star quarterback on full display in the moon-balls he summoned, it felt like nothing could stop the Bears from satisfying the hype that the team spent the last eight months cultivating. A start to what the program hoped could be a Cinderella season.
And then the clock struck midnight.
The UCLA offensive line began to mash Cal in the trenches. Bruins running backs Wayne Knight and Jaivian Thomas started to steamroll through tackles and break containment. And the Sagapolutele magic turned into dust as a mishandled snap on a fourth-down and two fourth-quarter interceptions - one off the hands of his receiver and the other right to defense (both to the Bruins' Ta'Shawn James) - gave UCLA the momentum to take the game and run.

TROY - The RPI football team's defensive unit could not have hoped for a better start to the 2026 season in Saturday's Transit Trophy Game against WPI.
WPI possessed the ball for nearly 44 minutes, but the RPI defense turned in a tremendous effort and sparked the Engineers to a 35-7 rout at ECAV Stadium in Troy.
"We did well on all phases of the defense," RPI sophomore defensive back J.T. Walker said. "If the D-line wasn't there, linebackers were there. If the linebackers weren't there, the DBs were there."
RPI held WPI to 294 yards of total offense and recorded five sacks, including two by junior lineman Jack Chappa, and an interception by Walker.
Engineers (1-0) junior quarterback Micah Balzarini made his first career start on Saturday. He completed 8 of 17 passes for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
