FOXBOROUGH, Mass – After a slow day on Monday that consisted of just a walkthrough practice, the New England Patriots certainly ramped things up on Tuesday. The players took the field in shells, preparing for their first padded practice which is set for later this week.
And with that, those in attendance got their first look at the offense doing 7-on-7 drills as well as some time spent on 1-on-1s between the offensive and defensive lines.
With a higher-intensity practice comes lots more to talk about, so let's get into some takeaways:
The Patriots had three players depart practice early on Tuesday. First, it was starting cornerback Carlton Davis, who left after covering A.J. Brown during the 7-on-7 session. Kindle Vildor replaced him, and then Charles Woods. Then, when 11-on-11s began, it was Woods who was playing opposite Gonzalez, but he also left early. And lastly, there was Rhamondre Stevenson, who departed in the final minutes of practice.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Christian Gonzalez may have an offer from the New England Patriots that would make him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. But something is keeping him from accepting it for now.
What that is exactly New England's star defender would rather keep private, even after owner Robert Kraft's public proclamations that the deal the team has put on the table is larger than any offered in Patriots history.
"Everybody knows what Mr. Kraft has done ... I respect what Mr. Kraft has brought to the franchise," Gonzalez said Tuesday. "It's something we don't want to handle to the media and keep that with the team and my (agents) and go on about that."
The ******* umption is that Gonzalez and his representatives are likely holding off an accepting an offer from the Patriots until Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Devon Witherspoon inks his anticipated contract extension first.

With a little over a month remaining until the return of the NFL season, the Patriots are suiting up.
This weekend, the New England Patriots return to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough for training camp, which begins this Saturday, July 25.
"This year marks the 67th annual training camp for the Patriots, including their 23rd consecutive camp at Gillette Stadium," Patriot Place said in a prepared statement. "The countdown to kickoff for the upcoming NFL season is underway."

The New England Patriots are set to kick off 2026 training camp in Foxborough, but contract questions loom large for a couple of notable players.
Patriots Pro Bowl cornerback Christian Gonzalez is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract and is reportedly seeking an extension that would involve a big payday for New England's top defensive player.
"I would expect him to be here," head coach Mike Vrabel said. "He is here, and I would expect him to participate. So, those contract negotiations are ongoing between the club and his agents. I'm excited about having Christian back here with us and the impact that he can make on our football team, and I really enjoy the person, enjoy the player."

A Chestnut Hill product has touched down in Foxborough ahead of training camp.
The New England Patriots signed former Boston College tight end Jeremiah Franklin following a workout on Thursday, according to a report from CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.
Unselected in the 2026 NFL draft, Franklin previously attended rookie minicamp at Gillette Stadium on a tryout basis in May. His circling back comes a day after the reigning AFC champions worked out six free agents, signing tight end Mitch Van Vooren and linebacker Riley Wilson while waiving fullback Brock Lampe.
A corresponding move will follow to make room on a summer roster that currently stands north of 91 active players.
Franklin started all 12 games as a senior in the ACC on the way to catching 49 passes for 506 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound UDFA appeared in 44 games during his Eagles career, including 30 starts, finishing with 93 receptions for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns altogether.

Nearly one million bets from New Hampshire came in during the 38-daylong World Cup, generating two-and-half times more money than the last Super Bowl involving the New England Patriots, according to state lottery officials.
The 900,000 individual bets were placed during the soccer tournament’s 104 matches totaled almost $24 million played.
By comparison, there was $9 million bet in last February’s Super Bowl in which the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks.
Charlie McIntyre, the lottery’s executive director, said what helped to boost the appeal of soccer spectacle was that Boston hosted some of the matches at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on the same field the Patriots play.
“Whether our players watched live, on TV, or followed along online, the results have exceeded our expectations,” McIntyre said.

FOXBOROUGH, MA – For the second consecutive World Cup, Morocco exited the tournament in its knockout stages in a 2-0 defeat against France.
The result could have been significantly worse if not for a heroic performance in net from Yassine Bounou.
The 35-year-old keeper put together a tremendous performance to keep the Atlas Lions in a match that was largely dominated by Les Bleus.
"We were very happy that Yassine Bounou managed to save us a few times," backup goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui said when asked about his teammate's performance after the match.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — France did it to Morocco again at the World Cup.
For the second straight tournament, Morocco was ousted by the French 2-0 — this time in the quarterfinals on Thursday at Gillette Stadium, four years after losing by the same score in the semifinals.
With very few attacking chances, Morocco landed only one shot on goal, and that came in the 82nd minute while already trailing by two goals.
It was the same ending as in Qatar, when the Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the semifinals at a World Cup.
“The future will be bright if we continue like this, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t want to win today. Of course, we wanted to win today,” Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi said through a translator. “We did everything we could to win, but we faced a very difficult opponent. It’s a disappointment, of course, but we’ll keep working for the future.”

FOXBOROUGH - Now that Morocco's World Cup dream is over after a 2-0 loss against France in the quarterfinals, Atlas Lions manager Mohamed Ouahbi's allegiance reverted to his home country.
France will face either Spain or Belgium in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas. Ouahbi declared his rooting interest.
"I hope it will be Belgium," he said.
The Morocco manager, who took over in March after leading the nation's U20 and U23 sides, was born in the Schaerbeek region of Brussels to a Moroccan family. He supported both Belgium and Morocco watching the 1986 World Cup.

At some point, Houston has to stop talking about what Stroud was and deal honestly with what he has been. The production has dipped. The pocket presence has not looked the same. The offensive line problems were real, and the Texans have spent this offseason trying to fix them. That's not insignificant. No quarterback is at his best when he can't trust the protection in front of him.
But that cannot be the entire explanation. Stroud has had chances to steady the offense and did not always do it. His playoff performance against New England was the clearest warning sign, with four interceptions and a completion rate that told the same story as the film. He looked rushed. Uncomfortable. He looked far removed from the calm rookie quarterback who made everything feel ahead of schedule. And that is the issue.

Saibari, who was subbed out of that match in the 22nd minute, underwent an MRI in Boston on Monday, July 6 that showed while the injury isn't severe enough to rule him out of the tournament if the Atlas Lions advance, it was enough to keep him from a second appearance in Foxborough.
"Everyone's available, except Saibari, with the match coming too early for him," Morocco manager Mohamed Ouahbi said in a press conference Wednesday, July 8, adding he was hopeful he could return for a potential semi-final.
Saibari has been the Atlas Lions' leading goal scorer this tournament, finding the back of the net three times, including the lone goal in a 1-0 Group C win over Scotland on June 19.
Without Saibari, Morocco will look to turn to fellow forward Soufiane Rahimi, who came on for Saibari against Canada and scored the final goal late in extra time, as well as midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who recorded a brace against Les Rouges in Houston. Captain and defender Achraf Hakimi will also look to get more involved in the attack, alongside the Atlas Lions' tournament ***** ists leader, Brahim Díaz.

Even though they made it out of the group stages unlike 2022 in Qatar an 2018 in Russia, getting to the quarterfinals was the expectation for Germany from the DFB, and Nagelsmann failed to achieve that for what was still widely viewed as an underperforming Die Mannschaft side — a far cry from the squad that got a nation believing again with their Euro 2024 performances on home soil.

They share the sentiment that most of the country feels in that now, more than ever, the national team needs Klopp as manager to right the ship and steer things in the right direction after too many disappointments in international tournaments ever since the 2014 triumph in Brazil.
Klopp was once a staunch rival of Bayern's in his Borussia Dortmund days and had his fare share of squabbles with Bayern's leadership members, but a lot of that is strictly in the past. His name has been mentioned more than once to potentially become Bayern manager at different times, though nothing had ever become concrete beyond phases of just rumors.
