STILLWATER — Last Saturday, Seth Storey walked into the Stillwater Raising Cane's and ordered a 25-finger tailgate platter. It costs $41.99 and feeds 6-8 people, but Storey wasn't sharing.
At 9:02 p.m., Storey sat down at a booth with an aluminum pan full of chicken and couldn't leave the restaurant for 24 hours. For every tender he ate, one hour came off his clock.
The first 30 minutes went OK as Storey powered through 12 tenders. At the 15 tender mark, his consumption started to slow down. He gagged attempting to swallow tender 18 and nearly threw up. The bathroom would ultimately call three times — once to throw up.
Even the tasty Raising Cane's sauce didn't make things better.
"It didn't help with the flavor and it just kind of tasted like nothing," Storey said. "Like definitely toward the end, I was just sick of the taste."

Dunkin' has enlisted the help of a pair of former Spice Girls and the comedian Rachel Dratch to promote the company's pumpkin spice lineup.
The Boston-based coffee-and-doughnut chain has released new ads for the company's Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, Pumpkin Cloud Dunkalatte, and other fall-flavored beverages.
The ads include former Spice Girls members Emma Bunton, or "Baby Spice," and Geri Halliwell-Horner, or "Ginger Spice." They discuss their time with the band in an interview, when they reveal a previously unknown sixth Spice Girl, "Pumpkin Spice," portrayed by Dratch.
They ultimately said she was "too seasonal" for the band and Dratch notes she "left to focus on lattes."

RHONY alum Jill Zarin has come under fire after posting a video about her experience at celebrity chef Alain Ducasse's restaurant in ******* an. The 62-year-old TV personality criticized her experience after apparently misreading a sign.
In a now-deleted post, Jill shared a video, "Okay, I finally have something to complain about. I'm in a department store at an Alain Ducasse little post thing. I want to show you this, okay?"
She then revealed two ice cream flavors, each matched with a coordinating cone. The chocolate came in a chocolate cone, while the vanilla was served in a vanilla cone. She said, "I asked them if I could have a chocolate ice cream in this [vanilla] cone … She said no. I said, 'Why not?' No reason, just because. So, my girlfriend got vanilla in the [vanilla] cone, and she says, 'You know, I don't mind. I wouldn't mind the chocolate cone. Just swap them out.' The answer was [still] no."
Jill suggested that the issue could be a ******* an-specific practice or something related to Alain Ducasse. She said she planned to tag the celebrity chef and ask why his staff could not accommodate her request. Jill pointed to the sign, which said customers could have their ice cream served in "a cone or a cup of your choice," and explained that she chose chocolate ice cream in a vanilla cone.
But according to a photo posted by Mr Marcus White on Instagram, the sign reads, "a cone or a cup, your choice," rather than "a cone or a cup of your choice." Netizens did not hold back, taking aim at Jill over her complaint. One of them wrote on Reddit, "If she's in ******* an, and I lived there for a few years, YOU DO NOT ask to modify items on a menu. No one will tell you why. It's simply not done. If you go to a nice enough restaurant, they will gladly prepare something special for you, but they will tell you how it will be prepared and not the other way around."

Genie Bouchard is teaming up with 7UP for a new campaign tied to the brand's latest citrus shake-up. In an exclusive interview with The Blast, the former tennis star explains why the cheeky concept appealed to her and how its message connects with her own experience of doing things differently.
That connection runs especially deep for Bouchard, who says many of the social media choices she was once criticized for have since become standard for athletes.
7UP
Genie Bouchard is getting behind 7UP's playful push to give lime the spotlight after years of living in lemon's shadow.
The retired tennis star spoke to The Blast about what drew her to the brand's new campaign, which accompanies the launch of 7UP Lime Lemon. The reformulated soda puts lime ahead of lemon in its flavor profile and has inspired an entire tongue-in-cheek campaign built around the supposed influence of "Big Lemon."

Shakespeare's Pizza and several other Columbia-area favorites are joining the food lineup at Memorial Stadium as Mizzou Athletics rolls out new concessions and hospitality offerings for football fans this season.
The additions come through a partnership involving Sodexo Live!, Mizzou Athletics and Columbia-based Upper Crust Food Service, according to a community announcement. Fans attending games will see new local vendors, updated menu items and expanded hospitality options throughout the stadium.
For the first time, Shakespeare's Pizza will be available inside Memorial Stadium, bringing one of Columbia's best-known food brands into the game-day experience.
"As we looked at the new hospitality offerings we wanted to bring to fans this season, we wanted to focus on food that feels like home while giving fans new reasons to explore and enjoy the game-day experience," Brian Gaskill, regional vice president of Sodexo Live!, said in the announcement. "Shakespeare's is a huge part of Columbia, and we know how excited fans will be to see it in the stadium. We're bringing a strong lineup of local favorites, Missouri flavors and some fun new takes on game-day classics straight to fans."
The partnership also brings several other local businesses into the stadium, including Champ's Chicken, Buck's Ice Cream and Mya's Gourmet Popcorn.

On August 4, Archer-Daniels-Midland (NYSE:ADM) executives told investors on an earnings call that the company would expand capacity at four US oilseed-crushing plants, a roughly $100 million push into a business that just posted its strongest quarter in years. The plants sit in Frankfort, Indiana; Deerfield, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Spiritwood, North Dakota, the last a joint venture with Marathon Petroleum. Together, the upgrades are expected to add about 700,000 metric tons of crush capacity by 2028 or 2029, and six more sites have already been flagged for possible future growth.
CEO Juan Luciano framed the projects as a cheap way to add output, estimating the cost at roughly a quarter of what a brand-new facility would require. That math matters because ADM just reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.84, well above the $1.44 ***** ysts expected, and raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $5.15 to $5.60 from a prior $4.15 to $4.70. Operating profit in the ag services and oilseeds segment, ADM's largest, jumped 129% year over year to $867 million, with the crushing subsegment alone up $330 million as oilseed volumes climbed about 5%.
The company has now identified 10 US soy processing plants for potential expansion in total, and Luciano said top buyer China appears on track to meet its commitment to purchase 25 million metric tons of US soybeans this year. Nutrition, long a laggard, also grew 51% to $172 million on strength in flavors. Even so, Luciano described the crushing expansion as a "phased approach to allow for offramps," language that suggests management wants room to pull back if the current environment does not hold. The projects are expected to fit inside ADM's existing 2026 capital expenditure range of $1.3 billion to $1.5 billion, following expansions at two Brazilian plants last year and an extension completed this year in Uberlandia.
The strength behind these numbers leans heavily on conditions ADM does not control. Finalized 2026 and 2027 renewable volume obligations under the US Renewable Fuel Standard, locked in only this past March, are doing much of the work behind crushing margins, alongside energy prices that climbed after the Iran war. Roughly $100 million of the ag services and oilseeds profit came from net positive mark-to-market and timing impacts, gains tied to commodity pricing swings rather than the underlying business.
Not every part of the portfolio moved in the same direction. The refined products and other subsegment posted a 3% profit decline on negative mark-to-market impacts and supply and demand imbalances in South America, and equity earnings from ADM's stake in Wilmar fell 22%. Those soft spots, paired with a crush expansion built with explicit offramps, hint that management sees more uncertainty in the setup than the headline guidance raise suggests.

New Boston College head coach Luke Murray has outlined plans to bring over many aspects of the UConn men's basketball program, from the Huskies' deliberate offensive approach to instilling a collective, team-first approach.
Murray placed the finishing touches on his debut coaching staff in Chestnut Hill over the past week, bringing yet more UConn flavor to his new home. The 41-year-old, first-time head coach hired three staff members with Connecticut ties last week, and on Monday afternoon, Murray hired Jared Terrell as a graduate ****** istant, one of Dan Hurley's best players during his time at Rhode Island.
Terrell, a consensus top-100 recruit out of Brewster Academy, marked a major early win for Hurley during his time in Rhode Island. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard shattered his lofty expectations with nearly 1,800 career points and a standout senior season, averaging 16.8 points on over 41% shooting from 3-point range for a Rhode Island squad that reeled off 16 straight wins and reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round. Terrell played one season on a two-way contract with Minnesota after he was not picked in the 2018 NBA Draft and made international stops in Turkey, Ukraine and Israel before his 2023 retirement.
As for Murray's other additions, Chris Mastrangelo arrives in Chestnut Hill as the Director of Basketball Administration after seven seasons with UConn, rising from student manager to the ****** istant Director of Basketball Operations. Andre Berry, who also played under Hurley in Rhode Island, joins Murray's staff as a player development ****** istant after graduating from UConn with a master's degree in sports management two years ago.
Hartford native Jared Jordan, who won national ****** ist ****** les at Marist in consecutive seasons and was selected in the 2007 NBA Draft, also joins the Boston College staff as Director of Player Development. Jordan, a Kingswood-Oxford graduate, enjoyed a 13-year playing career, largely in Europe, where he remains the all-time ****** ist leader in the German Bundesliga.

For many years, millions of young basketball players across the world, including some in the NBA, looked to emulate Michael Jordan, who is considered arguably the greatest player in the history of the game. To a certain extent, people in recent years have looked to emulate late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, whether that has meant modeling their games after him or drawing inspiration from his "Mamba Mentality."
But Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets, who has become a legend in his own right, noted on his "Boardroom Talks" show that now, players are starting to emulate current Lakers superstar Luka Doncic, and he likes it.
"Because he's that great. They should get it from him," Durant said. "I love when guys want to be like Luka or Michael Jordan or try to emulate them. When you go work out and get as close as you can to that level, you're going to be a good player… Why not? I love to see Luka, from a different country, crossing people up like we do. He's bringing that back to where he's from. That's a little piece of us there, too, the American culture of basketball."
While Doncic is from Slovenia, he does have an American flavor to his game. He has become known for talking trash to opponents, and he even has a bit of playground-style handles, as evidenced by the time he bounced the ball between the legs of Kevin Love during a fast break this past season.
Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 ******* ists and 1.6 steals a game last season. He won his second scoring ******* le in three years and got a bit of MVP consideration, even though his season ended prematurely when he sustained a hamstring strain in early April.

Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's daughter, True Thompson, just got her own superstar moment in a new brand campaign for her mother's brand, Khloud. For her protein-focused snack brand's new campaign, the 42-year-old shared a clip of herself with her daughter and her niece.
Khloe Kardashian launched Khloud Plus, a new line of collagen protein chips, earlier this month. The new variants are available at Walmart. In a new Instagram video promoting the chips, Kardashian recreated the iconic robbery scene from ******* and the City Season 3, where Carrie Bradshaw says, "This isn't a bag, it's a Baguette."
The Khloud founder stood in the aisle holding a bag, while her daughter, True Thompson, and niece Dream Kardashian talked to each other a few feet behind her. Then, they came over to Khloe and asked for her packet of chips. The caption said, "gimme your Khloud. your Khloud."
True managed to get the Nacho variant from her mother, and Dream struggled to get the Jalapeño flavor. Khloe protested, "it's Khloud plus." In the end, both kids got the packets from her, prompting her to put on a playful crying face. While Khloe is no stranger to acting for such campaigns, her 8-year-old daughter proved that she might also be ready to follow in her mother's footsteps.
For the video, Khloe wore a black midi dress from Helsa. The sleeveless piece featured a boat neckline that dipped low at the back. The dress fitted through the torso and cinched at the waist before falling into a voluminous skirt. She paired it with Gianvito Rossi Sofia Leather Thong Sandals. A Cartier Baignoire Watch sat on her right wrist.

Finding emerging restaurant brands early in their national expansion can be one of the simplest ways to build long-term wealth. An early investment in Starbucks or Chipotle Mexican Grill would have multiplied into a large sum.
Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) and Cava Group (NYSE: CAVA) have the potential to build similar wealth for investors over the next 20 years. Both companies are in the early stages of expanding across the U.S., making now a good time to start investing in these emerging brands.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The specialty beverage category has grown in popularity in recent years, yet Dutch Bros is gaining market share and remains a promising stock to buy and hold. It operates exclusively through a drive-thru format, with shops offering a wide range of flavorful beverages, including energy drinks, refreshers, tea, lemonade, soda, and coffee.
Dutch Bros goes the extra mile to build connections with customers using free giveaways and friendly service. That's reflected in consistent growth: Revenue grew 32% year over year in the second quarter, with systemwide same-store sales up 5.8%. This is typical of quarterly results over the last few years.

We continue on with the college football preseason award watch lists with the announcement of the Outland Trophy 2026 preseason watch list. As you would expect, there is some Ohio State flavor to the list, with three Buckeyes being named by the Football Writers ***** ociation of America.
First handed out in 1946, the Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman. And with all the experience and ability the OSU offensive line has coming back this season, three of those linemen, Austin Siereveld, Carson Hinzman, and Luke Montgomery, were among the names appearing alongside other talented linemen.
Siereveld, a two-year starter who was thrust into action during Ohio State's 2025 College Football Playoff national championship run, is heading into his redshirt junior season and was arguably the best Ohio State lineman last season. He was solid at left tackle, but may be moved to another position to get the best five guys on the field together. No matter where he plays, he should be the anchor of the line again and will be among some of the best offensive linemen available in the NFL draft next April.
Hinzman, now entering his fifth year, grabbed the starting spot at center in 2023, moved to guard to start the 2024 season, but then was the starting center again for the national championship run when Rimington winner Seth McGlaughlin was lost for the season with injury. The Wisconsin native was then the unquestioned starter at center last season and was an AFCA First Team All-American and Third Team All-Big Ten. He is also on the Rimington preseason watch list for the best center in college football.
Montgomery, like the other two, also carved out a piece of his legacy during the national championship run in 2024. He started the last two games of Ohio State's run and gained the confidence of the coaching staff to start all 14 games last season on the interior. He will be counted on to be another All-Big Ten-type performer. He is entering his junior season having already started 16 total games on the offensive line and appeared in 28 total games.

When the Tennessee **** ans took the practice field on Aug. 15 just a shade before 2:30 p.m., the AccuWeather "RealFeel" was 110 degrees and the heat index was a much-milder 104 in Nashville. So let's start off **** ans observations by highlighting the real heroes of the day: the hydration squad.
By The Tennessean's count, the **** ans had at least a dozen water runners on the field at all times. After practice, one of the staffers estimated for The Tennessean that they went through the equivalent of 20-30 bags of ice to make everything work. This is part of an **** embly-line process wherein the water runners bring caddies of four-to-six squeeze-top water bottles over to a golf cart with three multi-gallon coolers filled with ice water and a big green ladle. Some of the squeeze bottles are marked off with tape or elastic wristbands to signify they're the ones to be spiked with electrolyte powders and packets from companies like LMNT (specifically the raspberry flavor) and DripDrop. The cart is also stocked with dozens of fresh towels and mini bottles of Gatorade on ice to be used as needed.
During the 10 minutes of the opening team period alone, staffers refilled 29 water bottles.
The all-hands-on-deck mentality was evident. One staffer joking asked media in the middle of practice to hop over the ropes and help "water the players." The **** ans even took a 10-minute halftime in practice so players could go into the cold room and cool off.
"You acclimate yourself to this weather," coach Robert Saleh said. "The first couple of weeks of September you don't know what the heck you're going to get. It could be 93 degrees with 90% humidity or it could be a cool fall day in the upper Midwest. You just don't know."

I've never seen a documentary about Girl Scout Cookies before, so I went into Alysa Nahmias's "Cookie Queens" figuring that it might include, among other things, a tantalizing history of this beloved American institution — a rundown of the nine current varieties of Girl Scout Cookie (my favorite: Samoas, obvi! With Tagalongs a close second), a survey of some of the dozens of discontinued flavors (Rasberry Rallies, we hardly knew ye), and — more to the point — a look at how Girl Scout Cookies came to be, how the Girl Scout Cookie season developed into a wholesome Middle American pastime, and what Girl Scout Cookies have meant, through the decades, to those of us who hungrily consume them and to all the girls who've devoted themselves to selling boxes of them.
But no! "Cookie Queens" includes none of that stuff. The movie unfolds entirely in the present and never gives you even a fleeting sense of the past, of how Girl Scout Cookies rose in prominence to become the phenomenon they are today. (In case you're wondering, they were launched in World War I to raise money for U.S. soldiers.) The opening credits, set to the Julie Ruin's "Cookie Road," which sounds like a great lost track from the B-52's, play over black-and-white photographs and old film footage of Girl Scouts from bygone eras. But once the credits are over, the movie gets down to its single-minded theme and obsession: how Girl Scout Cookies, once a quaint piece of Americana, have lurched into their late-capitalist phase, with the girls who sell them vying to become champions by fashioning themselves into 12-year-old entrepreneurial go-getters.

Monster Beverage (NASDAQ: MNST) just announced a 2-for-1 stock split, set to take effect in mid-August, the latest in a long line of splits for one of the market's great long-term winners.

Monster is the energy drink powerhouse behind Monster Energy, and its secret weapon is a partnership most casual observers have forgotten. Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) owns roughly a fifth of the company and distributes Monster through its vast worldwide bottling network. That gives a mid-sized beverage company the global reach of a giant. Monster is using that muscle to expand aggressively into Southeast Asia, China, India, and other fast-growing markets, and international sales now make up nearly half of its business. For a brand once seen as an American phenomenon, that runway abroad is enormous.
What keeps Monster fresh is a nonstop stream of new products. The company rolls out new flavors and zero-sugar variants constantly, from limited-edition cans to region-specific launches, keeping fans engaged and shelves turning. Its marketing leans into motorsports, gaming, and action sports, cementing a rebellious, high-energy identity that money alone cannot buy.

Growing up in the heart of Los Angeles, Zoey Deutch was surrounded by the entertainment industry from an early age, but she has worked hard to establish an identity built on her own talent rather than her family's legacy. With a natural screen presence, sharp comedic timing, and an increasingly diverse filmography, Deutch has emerged as one of Hollywood's most versatile actresses. From independent dramas to romantic comedies and major studio productions, she has consistently demonstrated an ability to move effortlessly between genres while maintaining a distinctive charm that resonates with audiences.
Born into a family deeply connected to film and television, Deutch is the daughter of actress Lea Thompson and director Howard Deutch, while her sister, Madelyn Deutch, has also built a successful career as an actress and writer. Despite these influences, Zoey has always embraced her own creative path. Proud of her Southern California roots, she often speaks fondly of growing up in the San Fernando Valley and appreciates the unique experience of living and working in the same city. Her upbringing extended beyond film sets, however. Surrounded by a wide variety of family pets, she developed an appreciation for animals that she believes helped shape her empathy and understanding of different personalities. Years of training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern dance, and hip-hop also instilled discipline, physical awareness, and confidence that later translated naturally into her performances on screen.
Away from acting, Deutch is known for her enthusiasm for food and cooking. She enjoys experimenting with new flavors and recipes and has often spoken about the pleasure she finds in preparing meals for family and friends. Dinner, in particular, holds a special place in her routine, offering an opportunity to slow down, enjoy meaningful conversations, and connect with the people around her. Whether taking on the challenge of cooking a full holiday feast for the first time or discovering unexpected flavor combinations, she approaches food with the same curiosity and enthusiasm that she brings to her creative work.
Although Deutch is open about many of her interests, she also values maintaining a sense of privacy. She prefers allowing audiences to interpret her films for themselves rather than explaining exactly what they should take away from a performance. This thoughtful approach reflects her broader philosophy of letting the work speak for itself. As her career continues to evolve, Zoey Deutch has established herself as far more than Hollywood royalty by **** ociation. Through dedication, versatility, and an authentic passion for storytelling, she continues to earn recognition on her own merits while building a career that promises to remain one of the most exciting of her generation.

Just a few weeks ago, only a handful of members of the U.S. women's hockey team were expected to attend the ESPYs, the annual awards show honoring the year's biggest athletes, teams and moments in sports.
By Wednesday afternoon, many more of the reigning Olympic gold medalists were swapping jerseys for gowns inside a midtown Manhattan penthouse. Champagne was flowing. Hair and makeup artists buzzed around the room. Defenseman Mariah Keopple, who also works as a stylist, helped teammates put the finishing touches on their looks before they headed to the awards show, airing live Wednesday night from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City.
It wasn't exactly the typical pregame routine for one of the world's best hockey teams. And none of it would have happened without an unlikely benefactor: Flavor Flav.
The Public Enemy legend learned last week from U.S. captain Hilary Knight that only a handful of players had been invited to the ESPYs, where Team USA is nominated for Best Team following its dramatic gold-medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympics. For Flavor Flav, the solution was simple: "I got you."
That promise quickly snowballed.

Superstar athletes traded jerseys and workout gear for designer looks on Wednesday night as they hit the red carpet for the 2026 ESPY Awards. The annual celebration of athletic achievement, held in New York City, saw tuxes, gowns and, in some cases, a fashion **** ist from none other than Flavor Flav. But who really brought their A-game?
We **** embled our Kids Rate panel of 11 children, ranging in age from 2 to 13, to judge the fashion winners (not to be confused with the actual winners).
Our young critics were drawn to sparkles, colors and unexpected accessories (an apple! a baseball bat!). They spotted spiderwebs, ice cream swirls and "melting faces" where the adults saw couture. One celebrity even reminded a kid of "my cousin Joey."
They also had plenty to say about one shirt-averse attendee. "Is that his underwear?" asked Beau, 7. "Ew, no."
Here are their unfiltered reactions.

Starbucks (SBUX) aims to keep its growth story piping hot when it reports third quarter results as CEO Brian Niccol leads the company into year three of its turnaround plan.
Wall Street expects Starbucks global same-store sales to grow 5.7%, according to Bloomberg data, just shy of the 6.2% jump seen in Q2. Last year, the company saw a 2% decline in overall same-store sales growth in the third quarter.
The coffee chain is expected to report adjusted earnings per share of $0.56, an increase from $0.50 per share in the same period last year. Revenue is set to come in at $9.2 billion, down from $9.5 billion this time last year due to the transition of its China business to a joint venture.
In November, Starbucks announced it sold a 60% majority stake in its China business to Boyu Capital in a deal valuing the business at $4 billion.
In North America, sales are expected to see a 6% pop as the chain leans into fruity flavors and cold foams, which drive up average check sizes.

While celebrating WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago with Panini America, Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith reflected on seeing herself on a trading card, how it feels to see fans collecting cards, and how A'ja Wilson's mentorship has helped her embrace the Aces' winning culture and grow her game.
During an exclusive chat with The Blast, Smith also shared her thoughts on Flavor Flav's SHE Weekend and how he included the Aces, what she thought about LeBron James' big move, and where her favorite spot is in Las Vegas when she's not on the court.
The Aces forward joined Panini America at All-Star Weekend to meet fans, open packs, and sign Panini cards. According to Panini America, they are hosting NaLyssa Smith and other players and legends at WNBA Live in Chicago surrounding WNBA All-Star Weekend. "Panini's activation will offer fans custom Panini WNBA digital trading cards, exclusive trading card packs, and surprise player meet-and-greets. Autographed memorabilia from Panini's collection will also be on display for fans to see," a Panini representative told The Blast.
Smith took some time out of her day during All-Star Weekend on Friday to sign Panini cards for fans. She said the best part is getting to meet everyone.
"I think it's been [partnering with Panini] huge," she told The Blast exclusively. "I love always getting to interact with fans, so having an opportunity to spread that joy and just have people come out and get their cards signed, I think it's been huge."

For years, the conversation surrounding women’s sports has centered on one word: equality. Flavor Flav is demonstrating another word leaders should consider: investment.
For many fans, Flavor Flav will forever be remembered as Public Enemy's energetic hype man, a 2013 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the larger-than-life personality behind the iconic clock necklace, or the star of reality television's Flavor of Love.
But this past weekend, the Public Enemy co-founder brought more than one hundred Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists from Team USA’s Women Olympic and Paralympic programs to Las Vegas for SHE Weekend—short for Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment— for a four-day celebration designed to give America’s female athletes something many had rarely experienced at this scale: a victory celebration built specifically around them. I went to experience it for myself, and it was incredible.
The weekend included a parade on the Las Vegas Strip, front-row seats to a private concert from Public Enemy, receiving keys to the Las Vegas Strip, and attendance to the Backstreet Boys’ Sphere residency, where Team USA Medal winners received an onstage acknowledgment. This was in addition to a slate of curated dinners and programming talks from executives across the spectrum.

Hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, and pretzels have long been staples of the ballpark experience. Yet in Seattle, baseball fans have embraced a snack that surprises many first-time visitors: toasted grasshoppers. What began as a specialty dish at a local restaurant quickly evolved into one of the most talked-about concessions at Seattle Mariners games. The unusual offering not only challenged expectations about stadium food but also introduced thousands of people to a traditional ingredient that has been enjoyed in parts of the world for centuries.
The story begins at Poquitos, a Mexican-inspired restaurant in Seattle led by executive chef Manny Arce. When the restaurant first opened, Arce added toasted grasshoppers, known in Mexican cuisine as chapulines, to the menu as a novelty. Chapulines have been eaten for generations, particularly in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, where they are considered a popular street food and a rich source of protein. Seasoned simply with salt, lime, and chili, they offer a crunchy texture and a savory flavor that many diners compare to roasted sunflower seeds with a hint of spice.
Although the snack attracted curious customers at the restaurant, its popularity reached an entirely new level when the Seattle Mariners expressed interest in featuring it at what is now known as T-Mobile Park, formerly Safeco Field. After sampling the product, the organization decided it would make a unique addition to the stadium's food lineup. The response exceeded every expectation. Fans eager to try something different lined up to buy the toasted grasshoppers, and supplies disappeared almost immediately during games.
What initially seemed like a niche offering quickly became a stadium sensation. Chef Arce expected that his first shipment of approximately 50 pounds would last several weeks. Instead, it sold out in a single day. As demand continued to grow, the numbers became astonishing. More than 300,000 individual servings were eventually sold, requiring well over 1,000 pounds of grasshoppers to keep up with fan interest. On many game days, vendors ran out before the first inning had even ended.
The success of the snack reflects changing attitudes toward food and the growing willingness of consumers to explore unfamiliar culinary traditions. Around the world, edible insects are recognized as nutritious, environmentally sustainable sources of protein that require fewer natural resources than conventional livestock. While many people still view the idea with hesitation, others appreciate the opportunity to experience flavors that are common in different cultures.
