CHICAGO (AP) — Pete Crow-Armstrong added to his NL MVP campaign right in front of Shohei Ohtani on Wednesday.
Crow-Armstrong slugged two more homers for the Chicago Cubs in their series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, including a laser off the videoboard in right field. He also hit an RBI double to right in the second inning.
Of course, Ohtani started the game with his 25th homer. The ****** anese slugger also hit a leadoff single in the fifth.
Ohtani won his second straight NL MVP award in 2025, smacking 55 homers and recording a 2.87 ERA in 14 starts on the mound for the Dodgers. He is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 14 starts this year, but he hasn't been able to pitch since July 3 because of left knee soreness and a right biceps injury.
While Ohtani has been limited to designated hitter of late, Crow-Armstrong has become an offensive force while playing his usual stellar defense in center field. At the very least, the two-time All-Star has turned the NL MVP race into an intriguing competition.

Having pocket Aces cracked in poker will always be one of the toughest types of pain a player can endure, but it's even worse at the World Series of Poker. And for Texas poker pro Han Feng, he was dealt one of the worst imaginable blows at the worst possible time during the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event. BlackRock has launched tokenized share classes for a range of European money market funds holding a combined $311 billion, its first on-chain fund access in Europe.
The 12 new share classes sit across six funds in the BlackRock Institutional Cash Series, covering euro, sterling and U.S. dollar strategies in both distributing and accumulating form. Tokens are minted on Ethereum using Kinexys, J.P. Morgan's blockchain unit, which handles minting and burning and acts as the layer between on-chain activity and the traditional share register.
Each token represents a share in the underlying fund, and the official shareholder register continues to be maintained by the fund's transfer agent. Smart contracts move holdings between approved investor wallets, which BlackRock said delivers round-the-clock peer-to-peer transferability and near real-time visibility.
"Today's launches represent an important evolution in how investors access and manage cash, while helping modernise capital markets infrastructure," Beccy Milchem, Global Head of Cash Distribution and Head of the International Cash Management business at BlackRock, said in a press release shared with Decrypt.
Kara Kennedy, global head of market development at Kinexys, noted that, "Tokenization has moved from concept to execution," while BlackRock pointed to corporate treasury management, digital collateral and bank and wealth distribution channels as the use cases it expects the structure to open up.

The Lions announced Wednesday that Richard Haddad will be the team's president and CEO.
Haddad, who comes to the Lions after 14 years with Pistons Sports and Entertainment (PSE) and the Detroit Pistons, takes over a role that will be left behind by Rod Wood, who announced his intentions to retire earlier this year.
"Rich is a proven leader who understands what it means to steward an iconic sports franchise in the city of Detroit, and we are thrilled that he is bringing that experience to the Lions," Lions principal owner and chair Sheila Hamp said in a statement.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is reportedly unhappy with Cricket Ireland for hosting Afghanistan in a five-match ODI series, even though England continue to play Afghanistan in ICC tournaments.
The five-match ODI series between Ireland and Afghanistan began on Wednesday in Bready. According to a report in The Guardian, Ireland's decision to host Afghanistan could affect its future cricket ties with England.
Ireland's move has put its relationship with the ECB under strain. England have refused to play bilateral cricket against Afghanistan because of the Taliban regime's restrictions on women's rights.
The ECB's stance is based on concerns over what its chair, Richard Thompson, has described as the Taliban's "gender apartheid".
However, England continue to face Afghanistan in ICC events, where tournament points and **** les are at stake.
The ECB's policy is supported by the UK government, but Cricket Ireland has taken a different approach. Ireland has built close ties with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and is hosting five ODIs this month.
Under a reciprocal arrangement, Ireland will tour the United Arab Emirates in March next year to play Afghanistan in one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is.
England previously played one-off Tests against Ireland at Lord's before the home Ashes series in 2019 and 2023. Next year, however, England have chosen to play Bangladesh in a warm-up Test instead.
England's men's team also faced Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy in Lahore last year.
While the ECB does not schedule bilateral matches against Afghanistan, it has supported Afghan women cricketers in other ways. This summer, it organised a tour of England for the Afghan Refugee Women's team and invited them to attend the T20 World Cup final at Lord's.
Most members of the Afghanistan women's team fled the country after the Taliban returned to power in 2021 and banned women's sport. Many of the players later settled in Australia.

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma announced its football tailgating plans for the 2026 season on Wednesday.
The school is keeping the North Oval as the centerpiece of Sooners gameday and will continue to keep the area free and open for public tailgating, according to a release. Fans are encouraged to continue bringing their own tents, chairs and tailgating equipment following the success of last season's debut in the area.
OU also announced a new addition to its tailgating scene — turnkey packages at nearby Boyd Lawn. The school is keeping the North Oval as the centerpiece of Sooners gameday and will continue to keep the area free and open for public tailgating, according to a release. Fans are encouraged to continue bringing their own tents, chairs and tailgating equipment following the success of last season's debut in the area.

Every year we get ready for the new Husky football season by coming out with a daily article that examines the approaching games through a certain lens. Sometimes they're serious, sometimes they're not. But we generally try to get you, the reader, involved with a poll to get a sense for where Husky nation's head is at on that topic.

Crystal Palace have submitted a loan offer with an obligation to buy for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, according to Fabrice Hawkins. Xabi Alonso and Pierre Sage are at Stamford Bridge and Selhurst Park with the Blues and the Eagles respectively.

USC football is dropping Texas Tech from future schedules. You know that the national media reaction will focus on Lincoln Riley being soft or weak. We aren't going to deal with that well-worn topic here. Let's simply pivot to what the Trojans should do to replace that game on their schedule before, it should be noted, Notre Dame comes back onto the slate in 2030. This is not a long-term plan, but a short-term deal.

During my tenure at Pinstripe Alley—hell, during my entire time as a baseball fan—I've never been shy about delving into the team's history and exploring the lives of its long roll call of players, both incredible and regrettable. Burnley have signed goalkeeper Ben Amos on a one-year deal.
The 36-year-old, who started his career with Manchester United, was a free agent after leaving Port Vale at the end of last season.
He has also played for Oldham Athletic, Hull City, Bolton Wanderers, Carlisle, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic during a much-travelled career.
"I think there's a good blend of younger and older players here and hopefully I can bring something to the dressing room with my experience and be part of the senior group," Amos told the club website.

LOWER SUSSEX, Del. — The Lakeland Senior All-Star team fell 10-0, in six innings to Bulacan Little League of the Asia-Pacific Region in the second game of Senior League World Series pool play action.
The game started off quiet for both teams. Lakeland and Bulacan went through the first two innings and the top of the third in a pitching duel between Lakeland's Rylee Beebe and Bulacan's Princess Lyza Sioson and Carlene Jade Santos. The pitchers only allowed a combined seven players on base. The bottom of the third was a different story.
Beebe started off the bottom of the third with an instant out, but from there Bulacan exploded. Two walks and a hit by pitch later saw Bulacan load the bases.
Off the next batter Bulacan scored twice, before adding another off an error on the next pitch. After a walk, Bulacan was in a bases loaded situation once again.
Beebe struck out Bulacan's Janarie Joy Santos, for the second out of the inning, before allowing a walk that made Lakeland's deficit 4-0.

The Texans have completed one week of Training Camp and it's been a learning experience to say the least. Between the rookies showcasing their skills, the injuries, and the veteran additions
As much as I prefer to start on an upward trajectory, this has to be addressed.
The Texans constrained their media affiliates on what they can tweet and communicate regarding depth charts, player groupings, and roster configuration. Do they not realize there are eight practices open to the public and preseason games? Fans will find out sooner or later what they're hiding. My hunch, first-rounder Keylan Rutledge doesn't look good and is not participating with the first or second string.
This is more illogical than embarrassing… and it's fairly embarrassing. There are eight practices open to the public, who have no media affiliation nor restriction on posting on social media. Word is going to get out one way or another as to what's happening at camp. If anything, trying to conceal it will only make fans search harder.
Watson in very short time and with even less production wedged himself onto this roster as an integral part of the system. His blocking and route running are highly valued ******* ets by Offensive Coordinator Nick Caley. Plus, the injury to Jaylin Noel opened up more reps for the veteran. Depending on Noel's timeline, Watson has the inside track to not only make the roster but start as the WR3.

"The Knights will travel to play No. 24 Houston on Oct. 3 and then host No. 15 BYU on Oct. 24, but after that, there's no ranked opponent left," Mendoza wrote. "The road game at Pittsburgh won't be easy, but Scott Frost has a chance to recapture some magic in Orlando."
UCF went 5-7 last year, including an 0-5 mark away from the Acrisure Bounce House. The Knights have won just seven conference games since joining the Big 12 in 2023.
Texas Tech, Kansas State and Utah are ahead of the Knights on the list, which does not feature a single team in the SEC or Big Ten. Those two leagues account for 17 of the 25 ranked teams to begin the year.

James Benge reports for CBS Sports that AS Roma and Juventus are understood to be among a number of Serie A clubs who hold an interest in Gabriel Martinelli, with Turkish club Fenerbahce also monitoring the situation.
Benge adds that Martinelli won't rush a decision, considering the significance of his next move.
The winger has a year left on his ***** nal deal, but the Gunners have the option to extend that for a further 12 months, so there's no great rush to sell or renegotiate his deal right now.

Rotherham United have signed experienced striker Tom Bradshaw on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Oxford United at the end of last season.
The former Wales international has scored 115 goals in 473 career league appearances.
Bradshaw, who becomes Rotherham's ninth summer signing, could make his debut for the League Two side in Saturday's Carabao Cup first-round tie against West Bromwich Albion.
His deal includes an option for another year, although the club have not disclosed whether that is in their favour or the player's.

CHICAGO − If Charles Correa was still looking for confirmation that his transfer from UNLV to Purdue football a year ago was the right move, he got it at Big Ten Media Days.
As the junior linebacker was conducting interviews, sitting to his left were his parents, who raised Correa more than 4,000 miles away in Kuli'ou'ou, Hawaii.
Families of Purdue's Big Ten Media Days attendees - Correa, receiver De'Nylon Morrissette and quarterback Ryan Browne - were invited guests courtesy of Purdue's football program.
Each school is allotted six VIP passes for the event, this year at the Hilton Chicago. Those passes typically get bestowed to university representatives or donors. Head coach Barry Odom, setting a family-first culture in his second year leading the Boilermakers, wanted those closest to his players to get the behind-the-scenes access.
"They're the reason I am here to begin with," Correa said of having his parents by his side. "I owe them everything up to this point in my life, and for them to be able to experience all these cool things with me has been truly special."
