Princess Eugenie welcomed her first daughter in Portugal, breaking from the London birth tradition she followed with her two older children.
The 36-year-old royal and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, became parents of three when their baby girl was born at a hospital in Lisbon on August 3rd at 6:20 p.m. She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Eugenie previously gave birth to sons August and Ernest at the Portland Hospital in London. The family has divided its time between the United Kingdom and Portugal since Brooksbank accepted a new job in 2022.
The couple has not yet revealed their daughter's name. She joins 5-year-old August Philip Hawke and 3-year-old Ernest George Ronnie and is now 15th in the line of succession to the British throne.
Buckingham Palace announced the birth on August 4th, confirming that the baby had arrived safely at a Lisbon hospital the previous evening. The statement said King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family were delighted by the news.

In a recent report, A Bola mentioned that Sunderland are exploring a move for Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo this summer. It has been revealed that the Black Cats have initiated contact to acquire the services of the Mozambique wide player this off-season.
Catamo managed to catch the eye at times for Sporting in the previous campaign as he managed to produce a run of impressive displays for them in Liga Portugal. The 25-year-old registered eight goals and five ******* ists in 47 matches for the Portuguese outfit last season in all competitions.
The Mozambique international is currently one of the most talented wingers in Liga Portugal. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Black Cats are trying to get him on board later this year.
Catamo is under contract at the Portuguese club until the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Sunderland to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Portugal great Luis Figo has said embattled FIFA president Gianni Infantino must go in a blistering op-ed in the Daily Mail.
Figo did not hold back on Infantino, who has been under fire due to his abandoned effort to bring private investment into the structure of the World Cup.
"What I have seen exposed in the last 10 days is the lowest, most deceitful and cravenly self-interested behavior I have ever witnessed," Figo said of Infantino's push to lure in outside investors.
Infantino has been heavily criticized not only for the plan itself, but the secretive way he conceived the idea.
FIFA chief operating officer Kevin Lamour said last week that the controversial proposal was "the project of one person."

Former World Footballer of the Year Luis Figo has joined the criticism on FIFA president Gianni Infantino and wants him out immediately in the wake of a World Cup investor plan.
"I could write 10,000 words on the problems at FIFA. But the solution needs only three: Infantino must go," the Portugal legend Figo wrote for British paper Daily Mail.
"I have loved football all my life. I was a professional player for 20 years. And believe me, I have met some rogues in my time in the game. But what I have seen exposed in the last 10 days is the lowest, most deceitful and cravenly self-interested behaviour I have ever witnessed."
The column on Wednesday came the same day that Infantino has reportedly summoned FIFA executives to Morocco for an emergency meeting in the wake of a massive backlash on the investor issue which FIFA announced last week Tuesday and then withdrew early Saturday.
UEFA, which threatened to boycott FIFA events if the plans had become reality, has said it has lost confidence in Infantino and FIFA and is "actively considering" legal action.

Luis Figo has implored Gianni Infantino to resign as pressure mounts on the much-criticised Fifa president following his foiled attempts to sell stakes in the World Cup.
Infantino was forced to abandon his plans – namely to sell stakes in the World Cup and other Fifa tournaments to private investors – after public uproar last week, with Uefa confirming a boycott of Fifa events if the plan was voted through.
On Tuesday, Jordan FA president Prince Ali bin Hussein accused Infantino of "blackmail" and, under immense pressure, the Fifa boss has called a meeting with senior leaders of world football's governing body on Wednesday.
Real Madrid and Portugal legend Figo, who stood to be Fifa president in 2015 before withdrawing prior to the election won by Sepp Blatter (who made way for Infantino a year later), has now branded the various actions of Infantino as the "lowest, most deceitful and cravenly self-interested behaviour I have ever witnessed" in a stinging column for the Daily Mail.
Figo, who works as an adviser for Uefa, said: "I could write 10,000 words on the problems at Fifa. But the solution needs only three: Infantino must go.

David Friel at The Scottish Sun reports that the recently relegated English side are looking at being third time lucky as they come back to Celtic will their highest bid so far.
Nottingham Forest's £25m million bid for Engels in the closing day of the January transfer window sets the benchmark price that Celtic will be looking for and West Ham, who are keen to bring in the Celtic midfielder as soon as possible, will now have to match that earlier bid if they are to get the green light from Celtic for the the transfer.
Engels has other admirers including Roma and perhaps Forest will return to the table as the window progresses. If there is Premier League interest as the window progresses, Engels, who has already agreed personal terms with the Hammers, may opt for that rather than a season in the Championship.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are now parents of three after announcing the safe arrival of their baby girl this week.
The new royal, who is 15th in line to the throne behind her two older brothers, August and Ernest, was born at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, where the couple has a residence.
The couple own a lavish £3.6 million family residence in Comporta and split their time between there and London due to Jack's job. It's perhaps unsurprising that they wanted to welcome their third child in such an idyllic location, which also offers them a break from the spotlight.
The baby's birth marked a distinct break from family tradition, as the Yorks have typically opted for the Portland Hospital for Women and Children in London.
Both August, five, and Ernest, three, were born at Portland in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

Chelsea are **** sing whether to step up their interest in Diogo Costa, with the Porto and Portugal goalkeeper increasingly viewed as a serious target for Xabi Alonso during this summer window. According to Mirror, the Chelsea head coach sees the 26-year-old as a potentially decisive addition as he reshapes key areas of his squad.
The thinking is clear. Chelsea have invested heavily in attacking talent, most notably with the arrival of Morgan Rogers for a British record £117million, and attention is now turning to the spine of the side. In that context, Costa stands out as one of the most established goalkeepers available on the market, with a strong reputation at both club and international level.
Photo IMAGO
Costa's situation is relatively straightforward by elite-market standards. He remains tied to Porto on a long-term deal, but that contract includes a €60million release clause. That figure is substantial for a goalkeeper, yet it also provides certainty, which clubs value when time is tight and priorities are fixed.
For Chelsea, that matters. Recruitment at Stamford Bridge has often involved long negotiations, layered structures and competition from rival clubs. A fixed clause creates a direct mechanism if they decide Costa is the right fit. The key question is whether Chelsea judge him to be worth moving for immediately, or whether they continue weighing alternative options before making a final call.

Namibia is rapidly emerging as Africa's next major oil producer while neighboring South Africa, which controls roughly two-thirds of the same Orange Basin petroleum province, remains years behind in developing essentially the same petroleum system. The Orange Basin, an offshore deepwater petroleum province spanning the Atlantic maritime border between the two countries, is estimated to contain more than 20 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Yet while Namibia has attracted a succession of world-class discoveries and moved rapidly toward commercial development, South Africa has struggled to translate the same geological opportunity into producing **** ets.
TotalEnergies' (NYSE:TTE) deepwater Venus Project in offshore Namibia now targets an initial production capacity of roughly 150,000 barrels of oil per day, with first oil aimed for 2030. Venus-1X is estimated to contain 1.5 billion barrels of light crude and 4.8 trillion cubic feet of gas. TotalEnergies has also taken over operations of the massive Mopane discovery from Portugal's Galp Energia (OTCPK:GLPEF).
Last month, Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL) and its JV partners reported a major oil discovery at the Merlin-1X exploration well within Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL 39). Located in Namibia's Orange Basin roughly 290 kilometers off the coast, the resource has recoverable reserves estimated at 750 million barrels for Phase 1. The success of Merlin-1X marks a critical turnaround for the consortium.
In early 2025, Shell booked a $400 million impairment on its Namibian offshore portfolio following engineering hurdles at older discovery wells with complex geology and high gas-to-oil ratios, including Graff-1X and Jonker-1X. Those challenges had initially slowed commercialization plans, but the Merlin-1X discovery has significantly improved the outlook for the company's Namibian acreage.

Tottenham Hotspur are not pursuing a move for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao despite recent reports linking the Portugal international with a switch to North London, The Athletic reports.
Rumours gathered pace earlier in the summer after Tottenham made major investments to bolster their squad, including signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
With manager Roberto De Zerbi preparing for his first full season in charge of Tottenham, many believed the club was searching for another high-profile attacking player.
Those reports were fuelled by claims that Tottenham had held informal talks with Leao's representatives before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The discussions were described as exploratory rather than formal negotiations, and they took place before Portugal's campaign ended in the round of 16 after a defeat to eventual champions Spain.

Congratulations are in order for Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, who welcomed their third child together on Monday night at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.
The proud mom revealed the happy news to the world via social media, sharing a photo of their baby daughter alongside a caption that read: "Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie."
Notably, Eugenie and Jack opted not to disclose their daughter's name yet, leaving room for rampant speculation about which moniker they will choose. While the frontrunner for her first name is still a closely guarded secret, the baby's middle name is easier to predict given her royal family history.

Roma recently welcomed its tenth Greek player: defender Konstantinos Koulierakis. Will he unleash his inner Manolas, or are we in for another Greek Tragedy like Tsimikas? Let's take a look at his predecessors in the Eternal City.
Ah, Greece. Sun, sea, hundreds of islands, friendly people, sirtaki, great olive oil, ouzo, pita, lamb dishes. I'm not gonna lie, Greece is my second favorite country in Europe, after, of course, Italy. So many uncharted territories, so many jewels scattered across the Mediterranean Sea, waiting to be explored.
Anyway, let's talk football. Greece has generated some excellent players over the years. Take their Euro 2004 squad: Charisteas, Zagorakis, Nikopolidis, Basinas, Seitaridis, Papadopoulos. They weren't superstars, but they were reliable and skilled players. The team was compact, resilient, and tough, winning against Portugal and France and drawing with Spain in 2004.
More recently, Greece has produced well-known names, including Odysseas Vlachodimos, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Anastasios Douvikas, and Vangelis Pavlidis, as well as promising young talents such as Christos Mandas, Christos Tzolis, and Konstantinos Karetsas.
And there is also Konstantinos Koulierakis: a tall, athletic center-back who just joined Roma from Wolfsburg and has already been capped 22 times by the Greek National Team.

Bernardo Silva has officially begun life as a Real Madrid player.
After completing his move from Manchester City earlier this summer, the Portuguese international took part in his first training session under José Mourinho on Monday before sitting down with Real Madrid TV to reflect on joining the Spanish giants, his excitement about working with Mourinho, and the opportunity to represent the club he considers the biggest in world football.
Silva admitted that wearing the Real Madrid crest is something special, describing his arrival as a dream come true.
"It's very special, and I'm very happy to be here. There's no need to talk about this club because its history speaks for itself. I'm very happy to start and try to help this team keep winning, which is what they know how to do: win, win, and win. I'm just one more person here to help and try to continue this winning streak for this spectacular club."
The 31-year-old reported for preseason after an extended break following Portugal's World Cup campaign and immediately experienced Mourinho's demanding training methods.

Serie A side Milan are considering striker Santiago Gimenez's future and the idea of a return to Porto is gaining traction for the Mexican.
Get Italian Football News have looked at Lazio's interest in Gimenez and the player was open to the move too. But Daniele Longo points out at possible return to Portugal.
Porto are worried about the fitness of Samu Aghehowa Omorodion and this is making them consider a move for Gimenez. The idea was being considered earlier in the window but attempts are now underway on a more formal basis.
Francesco Farioli's side have opened the channels for a move, with Jorge Mendes playing an important role in the move. The super-agent has unfinished business with Milan, having helped them sign Goncalo Ramos earlier this summer. Gimenez has been offered a key role at Porto by Farioli, who has spoken to the striker already.
It is also reported that Porto have offered an initial loan with an option to buy. This is unlikely to find favours from Milan, who would be open to an initial loan with an obligation to buy, as the Rossoneri would have guarantees about his permanent exit.

Fabio Paratici's busy summer continues with Fiorentina's 7th incoming transfer of the season (9th if you count the loan redemptions for Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian). The DS has gone back to familiar territory again and grabbed rightback João Mário on loan from Juventus. According to LaViola.it, it's a €1.8 million initial fee and a €9.5 million option.
I wasn't particularly high on this move when the rumor broke a couple weeks ago and I'm no higher now. João Mário Neto Lopes is 26 and has 3 caps for Portugal but I don't see him as anything more than a depth piece. He's got the requisite pace and technical ability to look very good in a YouTube compilation, sure, but his disastrous defending means that he struggles to make a positive impact over 90 minutes.
A Porto product, João Mário moved to the Juvenuts last year for €12 million but suffered a Mattia Vitiesque trajectory: unable to get on the pitch for either Igor Tudor or Luciano Spalletti, he was loaned to Bologna in January but failed to elbow past Nadir Zortea for minutes under Vincenzo Italiano and the Oscar Mayers declined his option. I can't imagine he'll shoulder past (sigh) Alex Jimenez in Florence. His arrival also sounds the death knell on Dodô's time with the club.
That's enough negativity for now. João Mário should be Perfectly Fine as a low-cost backup. If he pops, another €9.5 million won't feel onerous at all. After all, this is a guy in his athletic prime with plenty of Champions League experience. The worst-case scenario is that he rides the bench for a season and then returns to Turin. My fervent hope, however, is that he bursts into the team and starts all 38 Serie A games, wowing everyone with his two-way play and cementing himself in Fabio Grosso's XI because that would mean noted creep Jimenez wouldn't be playing for this team.
Hey, all of a sudden I'm a huge João Mário fan. Bem-vindo e boa sorte!

Having tested the waters of managerial free agency, Mauricio Pochettino has decided to dive back into the world of international soccer, signing a new four-year deal to remain head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team.
His role since September 2024, Pochettino had little time to prepare his side for a home FIFA World Cup this summer. Ultimately, his team played some scintillating soccer at times as they won their group and their first knockout stage game since 2002, before being humbled in the Round of 16 by Belgium as they waved farewell to hopes of reaching their first quarterfinal in 24 years.
Pochettino's initial contract expired following the World Cup, leaving his future, and that of the USMNT, in the air in recent weeks. However, on Monday, U.S. Soccer announced that the Argentine had returned to guide the USMNT through this next World Cup cycle, which will culminate with the tournament in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal - should they qualify.

Rafael Leao's situation is impacting every possible incoming at Serie A side Milan and another transfer opportunity is floating away from the Portuguese.
Get Italian Football News have looked at how a second offer for the attacker was incoming. It was unknown whether they would be able to convince the Rossoneri, with Jorge Mendes also closely involved.
But Daniele Longo has reported that the move is very unlikely to go through. Leao himself is a big reason for it as he doesn't appear keen, especially as Fenerbahce have failed come up with a financial offer that convinces the Portugal international.
Sportmediaset- via MilanNews, offer more, noting that Fener have also struggled to reach an agreement Milan.
They offered an initial loan deal but the Rossoneri are only looking to sell Leao permanently. Ruben Amorim's side demand €50 million plus bonuses that can deal to upto €60 million. This has been problematic for Fenerbahce and a host of clubs who have been given the chance to sign him.

Barcelona are set to make another signing as João Cancelo's permanent transfer from Al-Hilal will be completed in the coming days.
According to Diario SPORT, the deal is "imminent" as there has been a breakthrough in talks between Barça and the Saudi club this weekend and an agreement is expected to be reached for €10 million.
The Portuguese full-back was spotted training alone in Portugal this week instead of returning to the Al-Hilal squad after the World Cup, and reports from Saudi confirmed his absence was agreed with the club as his departure is finalized.
Cancelo's signing was considered a key piece of business for Barça this summer and a personal request from Hansi Flick, who thoroughly enjoyed working with Cancelo during his loan spell in the second half of last season.
Cancelo's arrival will trigger exits for younger full-backs, with Héctor Fort, Xavi Espart and Jofre Torrents all expected to leave on loan to get minutes elsewhere. Flick is planning next season's squad with Jules Kounde and Eric García at right-back and Cancelo sharing left-back duties with Alejandro Balde.

Neither Galatasaray nor Fenerbahce have yet been able to close a deal for Rafael Leao, and now, there is a growing feeling from outlets in Italy that the Portugal international could end up staying on with the Rossoneri heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Milan have been looking to sell Leao this summer: The 26-year-old has spent the last seven seasons in San Siro and has himself made it clear on several occasions this summer that he feels now is the right time to move on and try something new.
However, as things stand, Milan have not yet been able to find a buyer that will satisfy both the club's and the player's demands.
Leao has previously spoken about his ambition to play in either the Premier League or LaLiga, but thus far, the only real interest has come from Turkey, where both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have had discussions over a potential deal.
Reports over the weekend claimed that Fenerbahce were preparing a new offer for Milan and Leao, understood to be worth 'almost' €50m, but according to TMW, the player remains unconvinced and Milan are unwilling to entertain offers below the €50m mark.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup was a rousing success, but it wasn't perfect. One standout hiccup was the final venue: New York/New Jersey Stadium, aka MetLife, which simply wasn't up to the standards of the world's biggest sporting match.
We've only just managed to catch our breath after a spine-tingling 2026 FIFA World Cup, and yet, the focus is already shifting towards the 2030 edition.
Like 2026, there will be three official host nations in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, but to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tournament, the first three matches will take place in Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina — making this the first World Cup to feature across six countries and three continents.
But four years out from the competition, there is plenty still up in the air. It's uncertain how many teams will participate, and the final venue is still yet to be determined.
While Spain is confident of securing the rights to the final after the Santiago Bernabéu's €1.35 billion renovation, don't count Morocco out. The Hassan II Stadium is currently under construction just outside of Casablanca, and with a planned capacity of 115,000, it would be the biggest football stadium in the world upon completion.

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner has been speaking to BBC East Midlands' Charlie Slater as the Reds wrap up their 12-day training camp in Portugal.
Here are the key lines from their chat:
Their pre-season camp has been "very positive", with most of the players expected to get 90-minute runouts against either Portimonense or Sporting on Friday.
Glasner added: "We have trained really hard, the players have shown great work ethic and everybody has enjoyed the sunny weather. I wanted us to work really hard on the pitch but also to enjoy the time together."
When asked what he enjoys most about training sessions, Glasner replied: "I like being on the pitch with the players, showing them solutions, supporting them and explaining the way we want to play. I know many other things are part of being a manager, but for me this is the best one."

Mauricio Pochettino contract, salary with USMNT: What we know about coach's new deal through 2030 World Cup originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The United States men achieved a respectable but not exceptional result at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, eliminated in the Round of 16 at the hands of Belgium as they were pummeled 4-1 in Seattle.
At the tournament on home soil, the group was led by Mauricio Pochettino, whose coaching experience and leadership were expected to help elevate the profile of the USMNT throughout his time in charge, and he was paid handsomely for such talents.
While it didn't quite translate to tangible growth at the World Cup, the USMNT has still made strides under Pochettino from a federation standpoint.
It now appears likely that U.S. Soccer has convinced Pochettino to stay long-term, warding off interest from the club level and other national teams to keep him around as the focus turns to the next four-year cycle, finishing with the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

Roma have been searching for a wing-back for quite some time, even more so after Zeki Celik's about-face, and they have recently been focusing their efforts on Ivan Fresneda, while Abde Ezzalzouli has emerged as a candidate to shore up their frontline, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
The Giallorossi have spoken with Sporting CP and the defender's camp three times recently. His valuation is around €17/18M plus hefty bonuses. They haven't decided to push for him for the time being, but he's one of the few players on their list. He headed to Portugal from Real Valladolid for €9M in 2023 and has racked up 81 appearances, scoring 4 goals and dishing out 3 **** ists.
In addition to tracking Fresneda, Roma poked around Ezzalzouli, but he's as pricey as their other offensive targets, some of whom have fallen through. He has hit the net 29 times and provided 18 helpers in 128 games with Real Betis. He has starred 37 times with Morocco.
The Giallorossi haven't given up on trying to acquire Antonio Nusa, but the negotiation is very complex. Instead, on the wing, they placed a small bid for Club America's Israel Reyes. They tendered €2.5M, while the counterparty asked for a lot more, €7M, Mexican publication Excelsior reports. He's been a stalwart for his current team for the past 5 seasons, featuring 146 times.
They need multiple wingbacks after the Celik fiasco and likely won't be able to splurge for two, especially since their interest in signing a big-ticket attacker hasn't waned despite capturing Santiago Castro. Wesley and Devyne Rensch's versatility gives them flexibility, but they should decide where they prefer using the former before adding.

Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta will be suiting up for his Portuguese National Team in FIBA World Cup play this summer in the qualifier window games set to go down in Europe, according to new reporting from Eurohoops Dot Net contributor Stefan Acevski.
Per the Eurohoops Dot Net reporter, Portugal finished their slate of games in the initial phase of the qualifier games with an overall record of 3-3, and is now waiting for the start of the second round of FIBA World Cup qualifying play. In the first segment of that play, they will take on the Spanish National Team on August 28 and play host to the Georgian National Team this August 31.
"The roster of 16 players for these matches has now been announced, with the standout name being Neemias Queta, who recently extended his contract," adds Acevski.
Coming off a season that saw the Lisbon native have the best regular season of his NBA career to date, only to stumble in postseason play, more high-leverage action for Queta ahead of Boston's looming 2026-27 regular season can only help his development.
