Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is back with the Giants, for the first time since 2018. And he hopes to soon be back in the number he used to wear there.
Receiver Jalin Hyatt had it. He still does, but Hyatt was waived and signed to the practice squad. Beckham should have dibs, since he's on the roster.
"I think we all know what that means to me," Beckham told reporters on Monday regarding the possibility of wearing 13 again, via Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic. "There definitely will be some conversations. I'll just say we'll see what happens. But like I said, it would be an honor and a privilege to put that back on."
Beckham has worn No. 3 during the preseason, but that number belongs to linebacker Abdul Carter.
Although Hyatt has worn it for three seasons in New York, he's not currently on the 53-man roster. It should be an easy game of rock-paper-scissors, one that won't require Beckham to write a check.

Odell Beckham Jr. has made it onto the New York Giants' final 53-man roster for the 2026-27 NFL season, ensuring his NFL return after a season away.
Odell Beckham Jr. missed the entire 2025 NFL season due to a PED suspension and no teams wanting to sign him.
The two-time All-Pro signed a non-guaranteed training camp deal with his old Giants in the offseason to work his way onto the roster, something he's now achieved through pure hard work.
Regardless of where they fall on the fandom spectrum for OBJ, fans are happy to see the veteran WR make it back to the NFL and play with the organisation that led to his rise.
"I love this for the sport," said one fan.

Liverpool are in the process of remodelling their frontline.
The departure of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer opened up a gap on the right side of the attack. Richard Hughes has already tied up the signings of wingers Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola.
There are also plans afoot to sell Cody Gakpo and we can expect Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa to also take their leave.
Liverpool will also be hoping to sign another wide forward before Tuesday's deadline.
Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh are the names in the frame - with Palace valuing Sarr at around £70m and Brighton seeking in excess of that figure for their 22-year-old Gambian forward.

So why did the Seahawks sign a cornerback who is facing eight felony charges and possible life in prison, knowing he not only couldn't play for them but can't even practice?
"There's a long-term play," said John Schneider, the man who signed Terrion Arnold Saturday.
That's one reason.
The other: A Seahawks legend told him.
On NFL roster cut day Sunday, exactly as the league had told Schneider and coach Mike Macdonald he would, Arnold went on the NFL commissioner's exempt list. Commissioner Roger Goodell alone will decide when Arnold can practice and play for the Seahawks.

Despite his late fears, the high-school substitute teacher and real estate agent from Ohio made it.
There was also the expected stash of Zach Charbonnet on an injury list as he continues to train.
A chess move with former All-Pro Trevon Diggs, plus five other veterans, who just got cut. For now.
And a wait for Terrion Arnold to eventually, maybe come off on a special list set by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
The defending Super Bowl-champion Seahawks set their initial, 53-man roster for the regular season Sunday — with general manager John Schneider doing his characteristically advanced roster gymnastics and practice-squad maneuvering to treat his roster more like a 70-man team for 2026.

From one New York Giants legend to another, former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz shared his thoughts on Odell Beckham Jr. and the latter's pursuit of a spot on the team's final 53-man roster.
The final cuts are looming across the NFL, and the former LSU Tigers star wideout Beckham is one of the biggest names to watch out for on that front. Beckham used to be a lock to make the roster, but that's no longer the case at this point in his career, with age and injury history becoming huge factors in ***** sing the 33-year-old wide receiver.
But for Cruz, there seems to be no doubt in his mind that Beckham has to be there on New York's roster come Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
"No one really gets that opportunity to get another crack at it and come back home and have that moment for themselves and for their career, so I commend him for having the courage to even do that and go there and humble himself to being the guy that's further down in the depth chart and have to fight and scratch and claw and make his presence felt to a certain degree," Cruz said, via Steve Serby of the New York Post.
Cruz was on the Giants team when Beckham arrived in the NFL as a first-round pick by New York in 2014, so he had seen firsthand what Beckham is capable of doing on the field.

Ever since the New York Giants signed former first-round pick Odell Beckham Jr. at the beginning of June, the former Pro Bowler has been on a mission to make the roster. The Giants closed the preseason Friday with a 23-6 victory over the New York Jets, and Beckham played a prominent role on offense.
His three-catch performance on six targets came after what head coach John Harbaugh considered Beckham's best week of camp.
Beckham raised his level of play at the right time, finishing the preseason strong ahead of cutdown day this weekend.
An emotional Beckham admitted he was grateful for the opportunity the Giants gave him to show he still has some gas left in the tank, and he shared what making the roster would mean to him.
"It would mean everything," Beckham said. "It would be my dream. This is where I started. There's no place I want to give my whole heart to, more than any place in the world, than this place right here."

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught three passes for 53 yards in Friday night's preseason finale, and he said afterward that he hoped he had done enough to earn a roster spot.
"It would mean everything," Beckham said of making the roster. "It would be my dream. This is where I started. There's no place I want to give my whole heart to, more than any place in the world, than this place right here."
Giants head coach John Harbaugh said after the game that Beckham had done well in training camp and the preseason, but he wouldn't say that Beckham will be on the 53-player roster after Sunday's final cutdowns.
"I don't want to say exactly who's making it right now," Harbaugh. "Yes, I think he has done enough to make an NFL roster, for sure."
Harbaugh was careful to say Beckham has done enough to make "an NFL roster," but not necessarily that he has made the Giants' roster. Beckham, who played for the Giants from 2014 to 2018, said he wished he had never left and would love to finish his career there.

On the upside, Najee Harris has a nice start.
A promising drive is cut short by another turnover. Braxton Berrios has the ball punched out while he tries to pick up yards after the catch.
Najee Harris running like a former 1st rounder.
Could Ben Sauls (or Dominic Zvada?) be a Jet come Sunday?
Odell Beckham slips, and a tipped pass bounces off his hands for the interception.

SHANGHAI, Aug 27 (Reuters) - Chinese technology conglomerate Huawei plans to expand its AI cooperation with local pharmaceutical firms into drug development and clinical practice, a senior executive said.
The move highlights Huawei's ambitions to gain a foothold in the fast-growing AI drug discovery market, where pharmaceutical companies are investing in modelling tools and automated laboratories to shorten development timelines and improve efficiency.
"As we further deepen our research into AI in the medical field, we'll have more collaboration and results emerging with pharmaceutical companies from drug manufacturing to clinical to final implementation," William Zhang, president of Huawei's healthcare business unit, told Reuters on Wednesday.
He said that Huawei had some existing collaborations in the area of clinical practice in hospitals and was exploring more opportunities, without further elaboration.
The projects now are mainly with domestic drugmakers, he said.

Arlington Heights may still be in contention as the future home of the Chicago Bears, according to new comments from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who remains directly involved in discussions about the team's stadium search.
In recent months, Bears officials have repeatedly emphasized that their focus is on Hammond, Indiana, where they have been conducting feasibility studies on two potential sites. One of those locations has already been deemed viable. But Goodell's remarks this week suggest the possibility of an Illinois option remains alive.
The commissioner spoke during the NFL owners meeting in Atlanta, where he said, "We want to make sure that Arlington Heights and Illinois have an opportunity, as well as Indiana, to put their best foot forward."
The Bears own 326 acres in Arlington Heights, the former site of Arlington International Racecourse.
Goodell confirmed he has been in recent contact with Illinois lawmakers about the team's future.

The fallout from owner Jed York's arrest continues to hang over the San Francisco 49ers, but NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco doesn't believe it will cost the York family the franchise.
York was charged with two misdemeanors — disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools — after responding to an undercover ad on what was described as a known prostitution website. He received a two-day jail sentence and a $1,150 fine. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed at the league's preseason owners' meeting that the incident is being reviewed under the personal conduct policy. York did not attend the meeting, a decision that wasn't surprising given how recent the arrest was.
Speaking on KNBR, Maiocco addressed the inevitable speculation about a forced sale directly, pointing to how deliberately the York family structured its ownership just two years ago.
"I can't see that. Jed bought equity from his mom in order to become the principal owner. Yes, the 49ers raised a lot of money by selling off around 9.7% of the organization, but when they transferred ownership officially over to Jed as the principal owner, the idea was this was a move made to ensure that it remained in the family," Maiocco said. "I would imagine the long-term plan is for Jed to hand it over to one of his sons or keep it in the family. I don't think this [arrest] will impact that. I think that there will be some discipline by commissioner Roger Goodell. I think it can happen sooner rather than later because the legal process has run its course. I would expect a fine and even a suspension, where he has to stay away from the team for a certain amount of time."
York became the 49ers' principal owner in March 2024, purchasing additional equity from his family specifically to formalize what had effectively been his role since taking over as CEO in 2010. At the time, York did frame the move as a long-term succession plan, saying it was "reflective of how we've operated" and intended to keep the team "in our family for generations to come." His mother, Denise DeBartolo York, and father, Dr. John York, remained co-chairs.

In what is turning out to be a supremely embarrassing situation for the San Francisco 49ers, their owner, Jed York, made headlines for all the wrong reasons after being arrested in an undercover sting in a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio. He has since pleaded no contest to the arrest.
The NFL is likely to take a dim view of this situation, and commissioner Roger Goodell has since made his position clear regarding whether he violated the NFL's personal conduct policy.
York was stopped by police in a rental car, looking to pay $140 to whom he believed was a prostitute in a trailer park, but was in fact a sting operation. After pleading no contest, he was sentenced to one day in prison for each offense he was charged with.
NFL commissioner Goodell has since made his position clear: "It's being reviewed under our personal conduct policy. And we'll do that. And when there is something to be reported, we'll comment further."
Punishment for owners who violate the NFL's personal conduct policy is not without precedent.

ATLANTA—NFL team owners did not discuss commissioner Roger Goodell's pending contract extension during their meeting Wednesday but remain confident they will complete a deal with him in the coming months.
"That's going to get done," a source told Front Office Sports at the meeting, which was conducted at a hotel near the Atlanta airport. "I have no doubt."
An owner told FOS afterward the topic was not discussed during the meeting.
"Nothing on that," the owner said.
The owners' next scheduled meeting comes in October in New York.

The NFL has had more than 100 Pro Bowlers in recent years because of players who were either too injured or disinterested in participating. Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who started only seven games and threw more interceptions than touchdowns, was a Pro Bowl replacement last season.
The league announced Wednesday that it is doing away with the game. Instead, the NFL will name 88 Pro Bowlers it will honor in Los Angeles before the Super Bowl in February.
Commissioner Roger Goodell explained the reasoning after NFL owners wrapped up their meeting in Atlanta.
"I think this is something that we talked to our players about, the Pro Bowl players in particular," Goodell said, via Mark Maske of Front Office Sports. "We had conference calls the last couple years: What's working? What's not? What would you like to see? And the number one thing that came out—and there were a lot of wonderful comments by the players—one is: 'We want to be honored and celebrated as a Pro Bowl player.' . . . It just opened my eyes. I never really thought about it in the context of that. It's not honoring the replacement players. It's honoring the guys who are selected by the fans, by the players, by the coaches.
"And so that was really the core of it, is: How do we do this in the right way? And our players, you know, they did what they normally do. They had great recommendations on how to do that. And second, a willingness to lead that the all-star format doesn't really work for our game. . . . It's something that we felt strongly about. And I think our players, they deserve to be celebrated when they get the Pro Bowl honor."

ATLANTA – Roger Goodell confirmed that he recently met with select lawmakers in Illinois to help in efforts for the Chicago Bears to finalize plans to build a new stadium.
Yet the NFL Commissioner offered no clues about whether those meetings indicated that the Bears – who have a standing offer to move to a site in Hammond, Indiana – are any closer to closing the door on the chance of building in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where the team also owns land.
Of course, this decision was expected to be finalized weeks ago, but an Illinois bill that could incentivize the Bears to move to Arlington Heights has yet to make it to the floor for a vote that could determine the team's course of action.
So, when?
"There's no specific timetable from my standpoint, other than we know that they are looking at the alternate groups, Indiana or Arlington Heights," Goodell told reporters on Weafter team owners met at an airport hotel. "We want to make sure that Arlington Heights and Illinois have an opportunity, as well as Indiana, to put their best foot forward."

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Commissioner Roger Goodell said the NFL is looking into whether San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York will be punished for violating the league's personal conduct policy after he was caught in a prostitution sting in Ohio.
"It's being reviewed under the personal conduct policy," Goodell said Wednesday at the owners' meetings in Atlanta. "We'll do that and when there's something to be reported we'll talk."
York was arrested in a mobile home park by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force after police said he was attempting to pay $160 for ***** with a woman he believed to be a prostitute.
York was booked into jail and was released after posting a $5,000 bond. York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but prosecutors amended that to disorderly conduct. He pleaded no contest to that charge and to possessing criminal tools for using his phone to respond to the an undercover online prostitution advertisement.
He was sentenced to one day in jail for both offenses to be served concurrently and was credited with one day served when he pleaded no contest. He also was fined $1,150. Police seized the $160 from York and that was later given to the human trafficking task force as part of the plea. York also completed an online course.

Odell Beckham Jr. still has it. The New York Giants wide receiver pulled off one of the most electrifying moves in training camp with a catch that looked so familiar to football fans, particularly NY supporters.
During practice, the former LSU Tigers star wide receiver made a move to the end zone and secured a pass with just one hand, grabbing the ball thrown before falling to the ground
Beckham looked hyped after making the catch, as he immediately got up, while letting out what could be a profane scream.
Here is a video of that catch from the former Offensive Rookie of the Year Award winner:

Liverpool are not done remodelling the frontline for the 2026/27 season.
Victor Munoz has been brought in for £34m after Richard Hughes triggered the Spain FIFA World Cup winner's Osasuna release clause.
Plans are afoot meanwhile to sign at least two more wingers. One-v-one quality out wide was always the stated aim for the current transfer period - a need stepped up following Mohamed Salah's free transfer to Trabzonspor.
Bradley Barcola is the main focus - with Paris Saint-Germain holding out for a deal worth £145m before letting their France winger go.
PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye is another name mentioned with the two-time European champions seeking around £60m for the 18-year-old.

Meghan Markle's return to the UK with Prince Harry is reportedly linked to a surprising career move. The news comes as the Sussexes prepare to relocate from Montecito to Britain this month. King Charles has reportedly been briefed on the plans and welcomed the prospect of having his youngest son and family closer.
A brand-new professional role for Meghan Markle could be driving the couple's reported return to the UK. Sources suggest that the As Ever founder has landed a major part in a British production. This is reportedly a key factor behind their move back to Britain.
In response, per the Daily Express, News.com.au's Bronte Coy noted: "What they want to do, their style of modelling moving forward, is to do the commercial things so that that then funds the other side, so obviously this is not going to be a burden on taxpayers."
Coy further explained, "People close to Harry said that he was very keen to continue this style of tour. Now that obviously was going to encompass the UK."
The 45-year-old ******* ss is best known for playing Rachel Zane in "Suits." She appeared in more than 100 episodes of the show before stepping away from acting to begin royal life. When she stepped away from acting, Markle said, "I don't see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change. It's a new challenge."

The NFL last expanded in 2002. It's currently the longest stretch in league history without the addition of a new team.
The recent comments from the Commissioner regarding the inevitability of an international team essentially open the door to the growth of the league beyond 32 franchises.
Goodell said "there will be teams outside the USA." Plural. So either two teams will move to another country, or the NFL will add two teams.
Who would relocate? The Jaguars have a new long-term lease, to go along with their ongoing renovation project. There's no other candidate to uproot from domestic soil and set up shop on foreign soil.
And, again, it would be teams.

The Seahawks' interest in Terrion Arnold playing for them has hit a snag.
So they are turning some of their attention to a former All-Pro cornerback.
Arnold, the free-agent cornerback facing eight felony charges in Florida, has yet to sign with the Seahawks. He agreed last week to sign a one-year contract with the Super Bowl champions.
But when he does sign, he likely will not be able to practice or play for his team.
That's the news of Tuesday at Seahawks headquarters. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will put Arnold on his exempt list as soon as he signs, according to a report from the league-owned NFL Network.

Giants to release Super Bowl champion, ex-Steelers Pro Bowl WR after Najee Harris signing originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Giants signed Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason for a very fun reunion, and with their shaky wide receiver room, he might actually be a factor this season.
But Beckham wasn't the only veteran they added this offseason who's past their prime. On Tuesday, August 18, the Giants signed veteran running back Najee Harris to a one-year deal.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, to make room for Harris on the Giants' roster, they've released former Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowler JuJu Smith-Schuster.
"In the corresponding move for signing RB Najee Harris, the Giants are planning to release veteran WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, per sources," Schefter reports.

While the three other major professional sports leagues in the United States all have at least one team based outside the country, that is not the case in the NFL.
The league's 32 teams are all based within the continental United States, despite the league recently upping its experimentation with games played abroad. According to commissioner Roger Goodell, however, that could soon change.
In an interview with the German media outlet RTL/ntv, Goodell said he has "no doubt" that the league will expand beyond the United States' borders in the future.
"At some point, there will be NFL teams outside the USA," Goodell said, per ESPN. "I have no doubt that this will happen one day."
There are already nine international games on the docket in 2026, and the league voted this year to play as many as 10 in 2027. With the NFL clearly aiming to expand its horizons, which cities could be suitable candidates for the league's first international franchise?

The NFL season is only a few weeks away, with the preseason in full swing. A new quest for Super Bowl LXI will begin as the Seattle Seahawks open the season as defending champions.
The league has recently been placed front and center in the world of sports gambling. Most notably, the NFL and the NCAA had to deal with the threat of lawsuits from former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who sought to play professional football in 2026.
Now, the NFL continues to embrace its complicated relationship with sports betting. A recent report indicated that the league has struck a new deal with Fanatics Sportsbook to become an official sportsbook partner.
MORE: Roger Goodell has 'no doubt' there will be NFL teams outside the United States
"Fanatics has signed on as an official sportsbook of the NFL, breaking a logjam that left the sponsor category vacant for the league since multiyear deals with FanDuel, DraftKings, and Caesars expired at the end of March. The deal, expected to be announced before the start of the season, includes rights to promote across NFL-controlled media channels, allowing Fanatics to air spots during game broadcasts," Bill King of the Sports Business Journal reported.

Aug. 18 (UPI) -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has "no doubt' about future franchises based outside of the United States, he said in an interview published Tuesday.
Goodell, who told German broadcaster RTL/ntv about the plans, also said the league would first "like to see" an NFL team in an abroad city before it could host a Super Bowl.
"At some point, there will be NFL teams outside the USA," Goodell said. "I have no doubt that this will happen one day."
The NFL played its first regular-season game outside of the United States in 2005 under former commissioner Paul Tagliabue, when the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers met in Mexico City.
Goodell, who took over as commissioner in 2006, steered the league into many more abroad regular-season contests, with 61 such games held under his watch. Another nine will be held in 2026, setting a record for the most in the history of the league.

Taylor Swift was spotted enjoying herself in London as her husband, Travis Kelce, returned to Chiefs' training post-wedding. The Grammy winner had a fun girls' night out in the English capital late Wednesday. Notably, this is her first solo outing since tying the knot with Kelce on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The wedding was reportedly attended by 1,000 guests.
Taylor Swift enjoyed a wholesome girls' night out in London, her first solo outing since marrying Travis Kelce. The "Opalite" crooner was photographed exiting Annabel's, which is a private members-only club. She had modelled a purple floral mini dress with her signature wispy bangs and red lipstick. The singer wore heels and subtly flaunted her wedding ring (via Page Six).
Interestingly, this is the first time Swift has stepped out by herself post-wedding. Not only that, but this is also her first outing since Kelce gushed over the couple's nuptials during a recent press interaction.
Kelce revealed to the reporters: "It was a fun offseason, man. Wedding was the best night of my life, and I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us."
Furthermore, the Chiefs tight end added: "It was a crazy night. It was full of a lot of celebration." The "Lover" crooner has not publicly commented on her wedding to Kelce, nor has she shared any photos from the ceremony.

What is a conflict of interest anymore when it comes to play-by-play broadcasting? Last year, this was one of the more debated topics in sports media. Now, it has new life. Friday, the NFL announced that the "Tom Brady Rules" will also apply to ESPN Monday Night Football ****** yst Troy Aikman.
Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. He also is the lead ****** yst for FOX Sports NFL coverage. The rules, at first, were simple. He couldn't enter another team's facility or observe its practices. He also couldn't publicly criticize officials or other teams, and he couldn't attend broadcast production meetings either in person or virtually. Last year, good behavior by Brady — and likely some pressure from FOX Sports — relaxed the rules on Brady. This year, the rules extend to Troy Aikman.
But the NFL's explanation for why the extension to Aikman makes me wonder who these rules protect in the first place.
This past offseason, Aikman ****** isted the Miami Dolphins with hiring a new general manager and head coach. During a podcast episode featuring former WFAA sports anchor Dale Hansen, Aikman said his role with the Dolphins was approved by Commissioner Roger Goodell. He has also stated that he sees a day when he could be working for an NFL franchise in some capacity.
The two situations are different. Brady owns a minority stake, so he's financially invested in the success of a franchise. Aikman loaned his services but doesn't have a financial stake in the Miami Dolphins' success.

The New York Giants' first preseason game, a 13-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, has given us a lot to discuss. Here are some of the 'things I think' after Saturday's game.
The nostalgia of Odell Beckham Jr.'s return to MetLife Stadium as a Giant was nice. Beckham got a couple of nice ovations from the crowd on Saturday, such as it was in a sparsely attended preseason game.
That's cool. But the nostalgia is over. Now, Beckham's comeback after a year away from football is only about whether he can make the Giants' season-opening 53-man roster.
It's a good question without an obvious answer.
Beckham entered Saturday's game with less than six minutes left in the first half. He played 16 snaps. He caught two passes for a measly 6 yards on Saturday. Some will point out there was a play on which Beckham was open but did not get the ball. I have heard and read the same all summer from some of my media cohorts. To me, "open, but …" doesn't matter. The tape will tell the decision-makers what they need to know.
