According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is waiving linebacker Amari Burney.
Burney was a late addition to the Jaguars' training camp roster, joining the team on Aug. 11 to help bolster the linebacker position, a unit that was navigating injuries.
Burney appeared in all three preseason games for the Jaguars, playing 81 defensive snaps. He logged three quarterback pressures, a sack, and made 10 total tackles. He also recorded a pass breakup, according to PFF.
Burney, 26, was a sixth-round pick by Las Vegas in the 2023 NFL draft. He appeared in seven games as a rookie and then in 17 games during the 2024 season. He did not see the field in 2025 after spending part of that offseason with Tennessee.

The Green Bay Packers finished the preseason on Friday night at Lambeau Field, and now attention turns to finishing the initial 53-man roster before Sunday afternoon's cutdown. Strong performances during training camp and the preseason will create some difficult choices for Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur in creating the initial roster, which is due by 5:00 p.m. CT on Sunday.

Former Washington Commanders safety Will Harris, released earlier this week, visited the Tennessee ******* ans on Friday. Harris spent only one season with the Commanders, and it was last year. He played only nine games after spending much of the year on injured reserve.
Harris started his career playing with the Detroit Lions for four seasons before spending the 2024 season with the New Orleans Saints. His strong campaign with the Saints, with an interception, 74 total tackles, and five passes defended, led Washington to sign him to a two-year contract in March 2025.
Just three weeks into last season, Harris fractured his fibula, which caused him to be out until Week 13. In his nine total games with the Commanders, he put up a sack, a forced fumble, three passes defended and 38 total tackles.

Ever since the New York Giants signed former first-round pick Odell Beckham Jr. at the beginning of June, the former Pro Bowler has been on a mission to make the roster. The Giants closed the preseason Friday with a 23-6 victory over the New York Jets, and Beckham played a prominent role on offense.
His three-catch performance on six targets came after what head coach John Harbaugh considered Beckham's best week of camp.

Admittedly, given the construction of the Jaguars roster, there aren't many obvious positions where an addition could be made. So realistically, we may not see Jacksonville dabble on the waiver wire.
That said, GM James Gladstone has shown us repeatedly that he is always looking to make roster tweaks as he sees fit. Here are three positions that could potentially use a boost from the post-cutdown waiver wire.

Chris Braswell entered the NFL as a second-round pick expected to eventually become an important piece of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' pass rush. Two years later, the former Alabama standout could be fighting to keep his place on the roster.
Pro Football Focus included Braswell among 10 NFL players currently on the roster bubble ahead of the 53-man cutdown deadline. PFF pointed to both his limited production and Tampa Bay's improved depth at edge rusher as reasons his future with the team has become uncertain. Through his first two seasons, Braswell has played just 618 defensive snaps. He has generated 35 pressures on 322 pass rushing opportunities while earning a 61.0 overall PFF grade. Those numbers haven't provided the type of development the Buccaneers hoped to see after selecting him 57th overall in 2024.
The Buccaneers selected Rueben Bain Jr. in the first round this year and signed veteran Al-Quadin Muhammad, adding two more options to a room already featuring Yaya Diaby. Not to mention tenured man Anthony Nelson has also made a strong case this preseason with a 92.6 overall PFF grade, while David Walker, who missed his entire rookie season with a torn ACL, has already shown more in one preseason than Braswell has in two years having earned an 80.5 pass rush grade. Meanwhile, Braswell earned a 34.4 overall PFF grade in the opener before missing Tampa Bay's second preseason game. In the chances he has had, Braswell has consistently been swallowed by offensive tackles and shown little to no juice in comparison to the others in the OLB room. In fact, he recorded no stats against the New York Jets.
Moving on from a former second-round pick after only two seasons wouldn't be an easy decision, especially since Braswell is still entering his third year and remains on a cheap rookie deal, but draft status can only provide security for so long when other players are producing. Braswell should have one final opportunity against Jacksonville to show why Tampa Bay should continue investing in his development.

That's the year where the Steelers, in a league where most teams will have only two quarterbacks on their active roster, plan to keep four passers at the 53-man cutdown day.
That's what first-year head coach Mike McCarthy told ESPN's Brooke Pryor to expect when rosters as finalized August 30 at 6 p.m. ET. His QB1 will be a soon-to-be 43-year-old Aaron Rodgers, heavily diminished from his MVP peak. As NFL teams begin to make their final roster cuts ahead of the August 30 deadline, Pittsburgh Steelers star cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been named a potential trade candidate to watch.
CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo recently compiled a list of 10 players who could be traded ahead of NFL cutdown day, with Porter serving as one of the biggest names featured.
"Porter has been present during Steelers' practices, but he has yet to take the field as he is hoping to land a new contract," DeArdo wrote. "Coach Mike McCarthy said this week that the team is at an 'impasse' with Porter, who is also on the team's physically unable to perform list after aggravating his back during the team's mobility test on the first day of training camp.
"For whatever reason, the Steelers don't appear to be willing to give Porter the contract that he is hoping for. The Las Vegas Raiders are set to play their final preseason game, facing off against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. Kickoff is at 5p.m. PT.
This will also mark the end of training camp, as the NFL's cutdown day is right around the corner on Sunday, raising the stakes for every player on the bubble to make the 53-man roster. So, this week's rookies to watch are heavily focused on the Raiders' undrafted free agents, with one third-round pick thrown in the mix.
As the 67th pick of the draft, it's highly unlikely that Crawford is in danger of getting cut. Also, the Auburn product was a project coming out of college and wasn't expected to have a big role this year after Las Vegas signed Kwity Paye, re-signed Malcolm and had the Maxx Crosby trade fall through during free agency. At one point this offseason, it looked like Tua Tagovailoa might be the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
After all, Tua was the only legitimate candidate while Michael Penix Jr. was out of practice for the vast majority of training camp as he continued to recover from a torn ACL.

The New York Giants have one preseason game left before the 53-man cutdown. Many players on the back end of the roster received ample playing time in the Giants' 26-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Josh Ezeudu played 47 snaps for the Giants in Miami and was then traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2028 seventh-round pick. Some possible starters received snaps, but most of the first-team rested.
Nevertheless, we saw a Jameis Winston rushing touchdown, 81 J.C. Davis snaps, and a suffocating defense versus a Malik Willis-less — already bad — Dolphins' offense. Here are some tales from the timeline after preseason Week 2.

How many roster spots are up for grabs as the Green Bay Packers enter the final week of the preseason? It's possible there's not as many as you think. While things can and often do change late in the process, especially with a joint practice and the preseason finale still to go this week, the Packers' roster is starting to solidify before Sunday's final cutdown day.
To see how many spots are still in question, we compared 53-man roster predictions from three sources: Justis Mosqueda of Acme Packing Co., Rob Demovsky of ESPN and Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The idea here was to identify which players made all three 53-man roster predictions, and then determine who is on the roster bubble.

The final few spots on the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster probably won't be decided by who catches the most passes or records the most tackles during the preseason.
They may be decided by Dave Fipp.
Detroit's special teams coordinator offered several revealing comments this week about how the Lions evaluate players near the bottom of the roster. With cutdown day approaching, Fipp's observations provide clues about the competitions at linebacker, running back and wide receiver, while also showing why some apparent roster bubble players may have more security than their offensive or defensive roles suggest.
Special teams isn't simply a tiebreaker for Detroit. For certain players, it's the reason they're on the roster at all.

It is official. Rookie offensive lineman Chase Bisontis, the Arizona Cardinals' second-round pick this year, saw his rookie season come to a close after two preseason games.
The Cardinals placed him on injured reserve on Saturday in a flurry of roster moves, which ended his season.
He suffered a torn MCL in his left knee on Thursday in the Cardinals' 27-14 preseason win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
It was previously reported that he would miss at least most of the season, so if the Cardinals believed that he could return with time left in the regular season, they could have waited to place him on injured reserve.
NFL teams are permitted to have two players they place on injured reserve on roster cutdown day designated to return, allowing them to potentially come back during the season without having been on the 53-man active roster first. Otherwise, a player must spend at least a day on the 53-man roster before going on injured reserve to be eligible to return. However, any player who lands on injured reserve right now is out for the season unless later waived with an injury settlement.
