The Las Vegas Raiders fought hard against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The Raiders had multiple chances to win this game, and even had a bit of a comeback in the second half while down 10. Unfortunately for Kirk Cousins and his teammates, it wasn't enough.
The Bills won a thriller over the Raiders by the score of 33-30. Cousins played quite well, throwing for 313 yards and two touchdowns. However, he did throw an interception in this contest. And with the run game struggling as it did, Cousins had to throw the ball 41 times in this loss.
After the game, Cousins spoke about the contest, making quite the admission to the media. "Difficult loss. Everyone battled, played hard. Just didn't make enough plays… One of these games where it's hard to sleep afterwards," he said, via Vegas Sports Today.

US actor Tom Cruise has surprised a British man who spent a year completing a series of extreme sporting challenges to raise money for charity.
Lloyd Kembrey, a facilities manager at the University of Bristol, took on the challenges to fundraise for children's hospice charity Jessie May.
His connection to the charity was born from his twin cousins, Francesca and Josephine, who were diagnosed with the life-limiting condition Sanfilippo disease type A when they were three-and-a-half years old. Both died in their teens.
Kembrey was inspired to undertake a number of exhilarating challenges in order to honour their memory and support other families facing similar circumstances.
The challenges he faced included a 31-mile ice skating ultramarathon in Finland, climbing the height of Mount Everest on a climbing wall and a 94-mile hike along southern England's Jurassic Coast.

Andre Iguodala's 2015 Finals MVP trophy has once again become a topic of conversation, this time due to a comment made by Tracy McGrady.
"The MVP of the regular season has more weight than a championship," said McGrady on Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady podcast.
This comment was not taken lightly by Iman Shumpert, who has an NBA championship to his name, winning it with the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of their 2016 team.

Cousins struck up a friendship in his freshman year with a 10-year-old boy named Gannon Kupko Jr. who is dealing with a serious illness. There's still time for JJ McCarthy to embody the potential the Vikings saw in him when they made him the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. But, uh, hoooo buddy, it doesn't look good. His 66.5 percent on-target throw rate ranked 33rd of 33 qualified quarterbacks, nearly three full points below No. 32 Caleb Williams. Since Pro Football Reference began charting that stat in 2019, only one player has been worse: Anthony Richardson in 2019. Ooooof.
That leaves Murray with a path to redemption after his Arizona Cardinals career flamed out. He's been a nest made of vacated promise after his Pro Bowl 2021 season. His 0.097 EPA per dropback since then ranks 20th out of 33 quarterbacks to play at least 1,000 snaps, just behind a diminished Kirk Cousins. But this is his age 29 season. If you are new here, my mission is to help fantasy managers with any dilemmas or questions they may have through the course of the season to ultimately win their leagues. For the next 17 weeks, I will produce weekly fantasy content that will go over the waiver wire, rankings, and Start 'Em, Sit 'Em columns.
Being a fantasy manager often means having to make difficult roster decisions, but I aim to take some of the guesswork out of it with my Start 'Em and Sit 'Em column for every position. It goes without saying that I won't include obvious calls like "start Trey McBride" or "sit Tommy DeVito." Instead, I search for players that could be perceived as fringe that could propel your lineups for weekly wins.

Kyle Pitts Sr. @ PIT (Projected FPTS - 9.4): Despite the news of Cooper Rush likely being named the Week One starter, I am still high on Pitts. He finished last season as one of the top fantasy tight ends with Kirk Cousins under center. Besides, Atlanta doesn't really have many options for pass catchers after Bijan Robinson and Drake London, and new head coach Kevin Stefanski typically uses his tight ends. Pittsburgh is also a favorable matchup, allowing 11 touchdowns and the third-most points to the position last season.
Dallas Goedert vs. WSH (Projected FPTS - 8.5): Goedert finished last season with a career-high 11 touchdowns. While it's easy to ****** ume some regression, the Eagles traded A.J. Brown, and rookie wideout Makai Lemon is coming off a hamstring injury. Philly's passing attack will likely feature DeVonta Smith and Goedert for at least the early part of the season. He will take on a Commanders team that allowed 12 touchdowns the season before (tied for the second-most). Goedert should expect to see a fair share of targets, making him worth putting in your lineup.

Going on two weeks after her death, the world continues to mourn the loss of Dolly Parton and celebrate her life. And so does her family.
"The whole world is grieving. And we're all crying for Dolly and we all miss her," Dolly's younger sister Freida Parton told Knox News, part of the USA TODAY Network, during a phone interview Sept. 3.
"But no one misses her more than her own sisters and brother and nieces and nephews and cousins and all of us. And we will always miss her, but we will always remember all the things that she taught us all," Freida continued.
Dolly was not just a global superstar to Freida. She was her "Dolly Momma," and Freida remembers her a little differently than the world beyond Tennessee.

But according to a source speaking to Closer, Kate now believes the situation could become harder to avoid. The source claims Kate has told William that the children should have the chance to know their cousins.
When Archie and Lilibet lived across the Atlantic, the distance made contact easier to avoid, the insider said. With Harry and Meghan now spending more time in Britain, however, that separation could become much more difficult to maintain. Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet reportedly arrived in Birmingham, England, by private jet on Tuesday, August 26. The reported situation could also affect how William and Kate explain the family rift to their own children.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have grown up hearing about the importance of family relationships, according to the source. The insider believes the children may eventually struggle to understand why they remain distant from their Sussex cousins. "It's going to be very difficult to explain and justify" the estrangement, the source claimed. The insider added that William and Kate have always stressed the importance of getting along. That could make the ongoing divide even harder to explain now that Harry and Meghan live much closer.

It's time for my annual Vikings season forecast. And like my forecasts for the rest of the NFC North teams, I will be looking at roster/coaching changes this offseason, injuries and luck factors from last season, and the change in strength of schedule from last season to this season to guide my forecast.
One thing you never find attached to any pundit's predictions is their track record, except this one. Predicting outcomes of football games and seasons is far from an exact science, but there are some key factors that can and do impact a team's season, some of which are not immediately obvious. Nevertheless, there are so many interrelated variables involved that perfection is impossible. My own track record is far from perfect, but since I started using my current formula I've at least been closer than the over/under total two of the last three seasons- 2023 being way off due to Kirk Cousins going down mid-season. In any case, this will be my tenth prediction over the past eleven seasons, having abandoned any prediction in 2016 after Teddy Bridgewater went down just prior to the start of the season. Here are the results:
2015: Prediction: 10-6. Actual: 11-5. Preseason over/under: 7.5

That's the year where the Steelers, in a league where most teams will have only two quarterbacks on their active roster, plan to keep four passers at the 53-man cutdown day.
That's what first-year head coach Mike McCarthy told ESPN's Brooke Pryor to expect when rosters as finalized August 30 at 6 p.m. ET. His QB1 will be a soon-to-be 43-year-old Aaron Rodgers, heavily diminished from his MVP peak. His veteran backup will be Mason Rudolph, exiled to Nashville in 2024 to bring his special brand of underwhelming football to the Tennessee ***** ans before reuniting with the team last year. Behind them, for now, is the duo of mid-round draft picks Pittsburgh picked up as lottery tickets in hopes they may have dug a diamond from a coal mine: Will Howard (sixth round, 2026) and Drew Allar (third round, 2026).

When Pickett, the first quarterback selected in one of the worst quarterback drafts of all time, failed, the Steelers bought in to retread passers just good enough to keep the team at slightly above average. Playoff appearances followed. Playoff wins did not. Between weak draft position and the franchise's general distaste for big free agent splashes -- missing out on Kirk Cousins (good!) and Sam Darnold (not as good!) -- Pittsburgh went from renting to owning its place in contender's limbo.

Rather than start fresh with a rising young head coach, the team hired Mike McCarthy, a man with a 126-80-2 record in the regular season since 2011 and a 6-9 playoff record. It brought back Rodgers, who can no longer use his legs to extend plays and has been forced into a diet of short, quick passes to avoid pressure even as his otherworldly arm talent remains in flashes of "remember when?" And, importantly, rather than casting his lot with Howard and Allar in case of injury and letting the chips fall where they may, McCarthy is keeping Rudolph as QB2.

LAS VEGAS—Outside of winning, the goal for the Las Vegas Raiders in this final preseason game was simple: find solutions.
With many positional battles coming down to the final days of the preseason, this marked the last opportunity for players to prove just where they fit into the Raiders' plans for 2026. Everything from starting jobs to roster spots was on the line, forcing the Raiders to leave everything out on the field.
While the Raiders would come out on the losing end of an 18-12 kicking battle against the San Francisco 49ers, they were able to get some questions answered about themselves.
First off, Klint Kubiak poured cold water on the idea of naming a starting quarterback for Week One. However, the performances from the game against San Francisco would suggest what the decision will be.
Kirk Cousins put together a performance that Fernando Mendoza described as "ruthlessly efficient," going 8-for-11 with 51 passing yards. Meanwhile, Mendoza himself ended up struggling with a 7-for-14 line for 57 yards. The first overall pick was also charged with an interception that deflected off the hands of Jalen Nailor to 49ers linebacker Tatum Bethune and two sacks.

The Las Vegas Raiders decided months ago that they preferred Kirk Cousins starting the season at quarterback while Fernando Mendoza sat and learned.
Based on preseason results, it seems like that might be a reasonable call.
Cousins played in two of the Raiders' preseason games and generally looked sharp and confident in new coach Klint Kubiak's offense. He played two possessions on on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers and the Raiders got a field goal on each of them. Mendoza, the first pick of this year's NFL Draft, had some good preseason moments too but he threw an interception for the second straight game and generally struggled.
Mendoza's second pass of the game was an interception. Mendoza tried to squeeze a pass over the 49ers' linebackers dropping into coverage and it was high to Jalen Nailor. The pass went off Nailor's hands and was picked off. That was Mendoza's second interception of the preseason. The first was a pick 6 in last week's game against the Texans.
Mendoza was sacked twice and had just 38 passing yards in the first half. He had four drives before halftime: two ended with a punt, one with an interception and then the Raiders got a field goal before halftime.
