Veteran shooting guard Bradley Beal has been tied to the Boston Celtics as a potential landing spot this offseason. A childhood friend of star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, it is no secret that the St. Louis native would not be upset about a chance to play with his fellow Chaminade alum, and Boston does happen to have an open roster spot.
But the fit is not a great one from a stylistic point of view, nor from the age curve of a ball club with a lot of young wings needing run to develop. Add in the fact that the Celtics have almost no cap ***** e to work with while remaining below the tax, and you can see how this might not be the match made in heaven it could seem at first glance.

Should the Boston Celtics sign NBA veteran Bradley Beal? A longtime friend of star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, it could be a good way to curry favor with the St. Louis native after a tumultuous season that he began on the bench rehabbing an Achilles tendon injury -- and ended with Boston President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens trading away his partner on the wing of nearly a decade.

Connections matter in the NBA. It's become commonplace for former teammates and friends to join forces in the **** ociation (just look at the reigning champion New York Knicks). These bonds don't always lead to an NBA reunion, but they have to at least be considered during the offseason, especially in the case of the Boston Celtics and 3-time All-Star Bradley Beal.
On Tuesday, Bleacher Report insider Jake Fischer discussed how Beal's next landing spot could be tied to his friendship with Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Beal, who's about 5 years older than Tatum, was a mentor for the eventual 2024 NBA champion and the two grew up in St. Louis and both attended the same high school, Chaminade. That relationship that began in Missouri continued in the NBA and beyond, as Tatum even attended Beal's wedding last summer.
"Bradley Beal has got several options," Fischer reported. "I do think there is some Miami (Heat) interest...I wouldn't rule out Boston for Beal because of the connection with Jayson Tatum. I even asked about that today and I was told not to rule out Boston."
Beal played in just 6 games for the Los Angeles Clippers last season before opting out of his player option. A season-ending hip injury prevented the 33-year-old from seeing the court much with L.A. and he hasn't played in more than 60 games in a single season since the 2018-19 campaign.
These injury concerns and the Celtics' current financial situation — the front office could only offer Beal a veteran's minimum contract or the bi-annual exception — make a St. Louis get-together less likely.

A new rumor suggests a three-time All-Star is interested in taking his talents to the Boston Celtics because of his friendship with top star Jayson Tatum.
This has been a very interesting offseason for the Celtics, to say the least. Of course, they made the stunning trade that sent MVP contender Jaylen Brown to the same team that beat them in the playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers. However, they also improved their frontcourt by selecting Chris Cenac Jr. in the NBA Draft and poaching Mitchell Robinson from top rival the New York Knicks. They also brought in greybeard guard Mike Conley.
Well, it looks like they could make another notable addition soon because three-time All-Star Bradley Beal could be headed to Boston, according to a new report from Jake Fischer.
"I do think there's some Miami interest there, and I would not rule out Boston for Beal because of the connection with Jayson Tatum."

Barry Jackson: There has been no contact yet between DeRozan camp and Heat, per source just now. Miami would be among teams of interest to DeRozan, who is being set free by the Kings. Miami's options now include - among others - DeRozan, Beal, Gary Trent. Or the Heat simply could wait on LeBron decision before deciding what wing player to pursue. I expect Heat to try to add another wing; tough call is whether to pounce on one of these players or wait to see if a surprise name shakes free. Mavs -- trying to be playoff contender- don't need to buyout Klay, obvously. And if Kings use waive and stretch on DeRozan (reported to be likely path), they do not necessarily need to do that with Zach LaVine.

A new report reveals three big guards are on the Miami Heat’s wish list to join Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2026-27 season. However, a fan-favorite former member of the roster is not being looked at for a reunion.
After months of rumors and speculation, the Heat were able to do something last week that their fanbase has long hoped for. They completed a blockbuster trade for the Milwaukee Bucks legend. However, the trade thinned out their roster significantly, and they must now look to add meaningful talent around Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo at an affordable rate.
A variety of players have been linked to the Heat in recent days. However, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang, three sizable veteran guards are among the targets for the organization right now.

That being said, teams have been able to negotiate with their own free agents since the day after the NBA Finals and in the same stretch teams have been able to engage with other on trades so some of the biggest personnel stories of the summer have already come to pass. The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade between the Bucks and Heat the day before the draft still marks the biggest move of the summer, but Monday was one of the overall most active days of the cycle so far as it marked a deadline for many players and teams to decide on player and club options for this season.
Over the course of the day, some of the league's most interesting free agents came off the board either because options were exercised or extensions were executed. Among them were Sacramento's Zach LaVine, Golden State's Kristaps Porzingis, Houston's Fred VanVleet, Miami's Andrew Wiggins, the Lakers' Deandre Ayton, Oklahoma City's Luguentz Dort, Detroit's Kevin Huerter, San Antonio's Julian Champagnie, the Clippers' Brook Lopez and Utah's Jusuf Nurkic. However, there was a major trade with troubled All-Star point guard Ja Morant going from Memphis to Portland for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray and intrigue among several players who either declined options or saw their clubs decline them.
Former MVP James Harden declined his player option but is apparently working on a multi-year deal with Cleveland. Golden State's Draymond Green declined his player option, but the point of that was apparently to open up room under the first luxury tax apron to allow the Warriors to try to make plays for the Lakers' LeBron James and the Wizards' Anthony Davis to try to pair the two Olympians with Green and Stephen Curry. Atlanta's Jonathan **** inga had his club option declined as did the Clippers' Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nicolas Batum and Oklahoma City's Kenrich Williams. The Clippers' Bradley Beal and the Lakers' Marcus Smart both declined player options to opt for free agency.
The Pacers for their part have been fairly quiet and there isn't much smoke going around about their potential involvement in any player movement. They picked up the $2.8 million club option for Micah Potter, which gives them the bird-in-hand advantage of having three centers under contract heading into free agency. Over the past few weeks, I’ve found myself asking a simple question. Who exactly are the people running Sunderland AFC?
We all know Kyril Louis-Dreyfus. We know Juan Sartori. Florent Ghisolfi arrived with a strong reputation from European football. Tom Burwell’s name has become increasingly prominent behind the scenes. But beyond the headlines, I realised I didn’t know much about them. How did they get here? How do they know each other? What skills do they bring? And perhaps most importantly, how does it all fit together?
The deeper I looked, the more I became convinced that these aren’t simply four talented individuals who have found themselves at the same football club. They are part of a carefully ******* embled leadership group, each recruited to fulfil a specific role within a much bigger plan.
And that plan tells us quite a lot about how Kyril Louis-Dreyfus operates.
