Lea Salonga has spent decades giving some of Disney's best-known heroines their singing voices. On Friday, Hollywood finally put her own name in the pavement, with several performers who understood exactly how far that voice had traveled standing beside her.
Salonga received the 2,855th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 4, becoming the first Filipina to receive the honor. Her star was dedicated in the Live Performance category outside the Pantages Theatre, where Brandy, Ming-Na Wen and Darren Criss joined her for the ceremony, according to BroadwayWorld. The good thing about this week's series in the land of the Crawford Boxes and the choo-choo is that both Sean Burke and Davis Martin pitched extremely well, a big turnaround from their recent starts and a good sign for the stretch run. The bad thing — well, besides nearly the entire offense — is that Luis Castillo once again demonstrated that while Chris Getz may have had a very nice offseason, he had a miserable trade deadline.
Castillo started out looking good, striking out Jeremy Peña and Yordan Alvarez. He then walked Isaac Paredes on 10 pitches and threw José Altuve a fastball that would have been a strike on Aaron Judge but was nose-high on Altuve. Altuve still sent it into the Crawford Boxes to make it 2-0 Astros.

Chelsea are approaching the final weeks of the transfer window with an unresolved question at their centre. Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move to Manchester City throughout August, and the commercial logic of selling is not difficult to construct. What is considerably more difficult is justifying strengthening a direct rival at a moment when that rival's most glaring weakness is precisely the position Fernandez occupies.
Fernandez cost Chelsea €120 million in January 2023. He was bought to be the deep-lying conductor of a new-look midfield – the replacement for Jorginho, the organiser around whom creativity would flow. That vision has never been fully realised at Stamford Bridge, and the reasons why are well-documented.
Every manager Chelsea (7.04) has appointed since his arrival has struggled to make a Fernandez-Caicedo double pivot function out of possession. Fernandez is not physically built to cover large central ***** es. His defensive awareness is sharp enough for international soccer, where Lionel Scaloni's Argentina have found ways to manage around his limitations, but has never been sharp enough at club level to survive without significant structural support.
Enzo Maresca's solution last season was to move Fernandez into the left pocket, push a fullback deeper into the midfield beside Caicedo and slow Chelsea's possession game to keep the team compact. It improved the collective structure and allowed Fernandez to play his best soccer at Chelsea, scoring 15 goals across all competitions. But it came at a notable cost, most visibly, the significant dip in Cole Palmer's form.
Xabi Alonso is not going to replicate that approach. His 3-4-2-1 system places Morgan Rogers and Palmer as dual attacking midfielders behind the striker. That is precisely where Fernandez would be best utilised. But Chelsea paid £117 million for Rogers this transfer window to fill that exact role. While starring in the 1989 production, a young Hart found an unexpected mentor in the "Ally McBeal" star, she tells USA TODAY.
"I was about 10, 11, and she was young. She was like 18," Hart says. "She used to have me come over to her house and do sleepovers and she'd give me her hand-me-down clothes. I watched the way she prepped for work."

BANGKOK, Aug 31 (Reuters) - After a long deployment in the Middle East, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier will dock in Thailand's resort city of Pattaya this week, raising hopes of an economic boost, even as local authorities cracked down on parts of the **** tourism destination.
The Abraham Lincoln is due to dock on Wednesday at nearby Laem Chabang, with two accompanying Navy vessels, to allow nearly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard to rest and recuperate after over 200 days at sea, according to Thai officials.
Ahead of its arrival, police are preparing additional patrols around Pattaya's main beachfront and nightlife district besides raids over the weekend that led to 40 to 50 people in detention for suspected prostitution, officials said.
"We are doing our best, but it is difficult," Pattaya police chief Anek Srathongyoo said on Monday, explaining that **** workers could potentially solicit in public areas without the knowledge of the authorities.

Compared to last year's initial 53-man roster, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a number of newcomers on this year's initial 53.
The first change is at the quarterback position, with Quinn Ewers now listed as the backup, whereas last season it was Nick Mullens. With the departure of Travis Etienne Jr, the running back room has also changed with additions Chris Rodriguez and Ameer Abdullah.

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane said he had good initial talks with the club about a contract extension, but the England captain stressed that a concrete agreement will still take a while.
"That won't happen in a week or two. There will still be a lot of discussion about the details," Kane said after the 5-1 win on Friday in the Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart.
"The conversations have been positive. So far, so good. In the next weeks we will continue the talks."
His current contract expires at the end of the season, and he's aiming for a long-term extension. According to reports, besides salary adjustments, the new deal is to run to 2029 or 2030.

Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin had a solid rookie season where he showed his ability to shoot the three-pointer better than anyone, except the Nets' coaching staff, anticipated coming into last year. Since then, Brooklyn has been hoping to see more from Demin besides his long-range shooting and he looked like he was ready to do that in the summer league, but some around the league are waiting to see it during the regular season.
HoopsHype put out its list of the projected top-27 shooting guards for the upcoming 2026-27 season and Demin did not make the list or the three players that missed the cut, putting him outside the top-30. For context, the three players that just missed the cut for HoopsHype were Shaedon Sharpe of the Portland Trail Blazers, Aaron Wiggins of the Atlanta Hawks, and Brandin Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors.
Demin, 20, is coming off an impressive showing during Brooklyn's summer circuit as he showed his ability to impact the game outside of his shooting ability, which was subpar compared to how he shot the ball last season. In five games played between the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, Demin averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 ****** ists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the field and 28.9% from behind the three-point line.

STOCKHOLM, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Sweden's military will participate in the surveillance and protection of Finland's territory with Gripen fighter jets and corvette warship, at least until the end of 2026, Finland's defence forces said on Friday.
"The Swedish equipment strengthens air surveillance in particular, releasing the Finnish Defence Forces' own resources for repelling violations and incidents, if need be," Finland's military said in a statement.
The neighbouring countries, NATO's two newest members, already have a close bilateral defence cooperation. Finland has a 1,340-kilometre (833-mile) long eastern border with Russia.
"Sweden has responded to a request from Finland to strengthen its air defence due to the deteriorating security situation," Sweden's Defence Minister Pal Jonson told Reuters, adding that the Swedish armed forces may under the agreement, if necessary, help Finland repel violations of Finnish territory.
Besides fighter jets and vessels with drone combat capabilities, Sweden may also contribute ground-based anti-drone systems, he said.

NaLyssa Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season, the Las Vegas Aces announced Thursday. Smith, one of the Aces' starters and a key part of last year's championship team, suffered a non-contact left leg injury against the Toronto Tempo on Sunday and left the game immediately.
Smith was the fourth-leading scorer on the Aces' active roster with 11.7 points per game and was the second-leading rebounder with 6.4 per contest. She was also leading the WNBA in field-goal percentage (63.8 percent). By most advanced metrics, she was the most valuable player on Las Vegas outside the big three of A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray.
"Lyss is a soldier," Wilson said postgame Sunday. "God has his hands on her, and we're going to continue to be beside her through this whole process."

It's taken me a couple days to figure out what I want to say about Mark Walter, Guggenheim Baseball Management, and the ownership of the LA Dodgers. There's plenty of people, including Jeff Passan, who have breakdowns of the facts and the allegations of the case. What we think we know is that Walter and Co., already enjoying an exemption in their TV deal following a bankruptcy judgement under previous ownership, further financialized themselves by taking loans from insurance companies also owned by W&C, then used the interest on repaying those loans to write off even more of their revenue sharing obligations, which are based around local TV revenue minus certain expenses.
In short, it seems the Dodgers borrowed money from themselves to lower the amount of money they owed the subsidized teams around the sport. Now, you inherit a court-ordered exemption from paying your fair share, and further financialize every element of the off-field operations to continually lower every possible obligation you have to the rest of baseball, and because those efforts will help champion the case for a salary cap, the 29 other men in your cohort will go along with it. Maybe, in March or May or August 2027, the knives will come out for Walter, but until the billionaire class has exacted every ounce of control they can over a new CBA, they'll stand beside each other. What's a few million when there's a billion on the line?

Wall Street is focused on Nvidia's (NVDA) graphics processing units (GPUs). The faster-growing story is sitting beside them.
Nvidia has quietly built a networking operation that generated nearly $15 billion last quarter, up from roughly $3 billion per quarter two years ago. Wall Street expects that figure to approach $17 billion when the company reports earnings on Wednesday.
Compute still dwarfs networking inside Nvidia's Data Center business. But networking has been growing faster, up nearly 200% year over year in the last quarter compared with 77% for compute.
That pace is slowing. ******* ysts expect networking growth of roughly 134% in the quarter about to be reported, still ahead of compute at about 100%.
The change goes straight to one of the biggest questions hanging over Nvidia.

The IndyCar Freedom 250 race had a lot of eyes on it.
FOX Sports issued a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 25 saying that 3.282 million fans tuned into the one-off race, which was held in a rectangular-circuit through Washington, D.C. The start/finish line was in front of the U.S. Capitol and a stretch of the track went down Pennsylvania Avenue.
Since Sunday's competition was the first, and only, edition of the race, there are no direct viewership ratings to compare. But FOX said that this number is the most-watched non-Indy 500 IndyCar race since 2008 when open-wheel racing in the United States was united in a merger between Indy Racing League and Champ Car.
This year's Indy 500 had an audience of 6.635 million viewers, a 6% decrease from 2025, FOX's first season as IndyCar's broadcast partner. This year's Grand Prix at Road America previously was the most-watched race besides the Indy 500 with an audience of 1.803 million.
The network added that the audience for the Freedom 250 was a 279% increase from the average Sunday viewership of an IndyCar (non-Indy 500) race during the 2025 season.
