Tyler Herro is now playing for his hometown team, the Milwaukee Bucks, after seven seasons with the Miami Heat. At one point, it seemed Herro was destined to be a Heat for the rest of his career, but that didn't happen because he was their best trade piece in the 2026 offseason.
After a long wait, the Heat finally have a megastar again in Giannis Antetokounmpo. Before they pulled off the trade, it seemed that the Heat were ready to keep building on their core group, including Herro. That would have involved an extension for Herro, but they were unwilling to give him the max.
Throughout his Heat tenure, Herro always had the support of the front office. Team president Pat Riley saw him as a long-term piece, but when the opportunity to trade for Giannis came up, it was hard to deny the package that the Bucks wanted.
Before that, he was also involved in the potential Damian Lillard package back in 2023, but that did not lead to anything. Herro was superb for the Heat, as he had two trips to the NBA Finals and an All-Star nod to be proud of. However, his time came to an end after the Antetokounmpo trade.

Jeff Teague had the same reaction that probably every person on the planet had upon hearing Monta Ellis' claim.
Ellis, the former high-scoring Golden State Warriors guard, controversially declared on Sunday that the Warriors would've had the same success had he replaced Steph Curry.
Teague, Ellis' teammate with the Indiana Pacers in 2016-2017 wasn't exactly buying it.
"Imma keep it real with you. He was never better than Steph Curry," Teague said during a live recording of "The Club 520 Podcast" before saying there was another star guard who he could have seen perhaps replicating the Warriors' success with Curry.
"…If you said 'We're going to take Steph Curry out of there, and put Dame Lillard, then I would be like 'Okay I could see them get the same results."

That player is Damian Lillard, who negotiated a no-trade clause into his deal with the Trail Blazers last summer. LeBron James and Bradley Beal had no-trade clauses in their respective contracts in recent years, but Beal gave his up when he agreed to a buyout with the Suns during the 2025 offseason, and James no longer has one after his contract with the Lakers expired this summer. LeBron would have been eligible for a no-trade clause if he had rejoined the Cavaliers or Heat in free agency, but since he hasn't played for Philadelphia before, he couldn't add one to his new contract with the Sixers.

The Portland Trail Blazers have seemingly decided that having too many guards isn't actually a problem.
Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson are all expected to enter training camp on Micah Nori's roster, with Portland reportedly believing it can make the overcrowded group work.
That's certainly one way to handle it.
But if the Blazers are committed to keeping Henderson despite acquiring another ball-dominant point guard in Morant, then it's time to prove they remain equally committed to his future.
Henderson is eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension until Oct. 19, the day before the 2026-27 regular season begins. If the two sides don't reach an agreement, he'll make $13.6 million in the final year of his rookie contract before entering restricted free agency next summer.

Damian Lillard walked into the NBA as a grizzled veteran.
The moment he stepped foot in Portland, he was ready to lead and impart wisdom on his teammates.

He’s always had the utmost confidence in himself, and he’s used that excess confidence to embolden those around him.
“I’m not surprised by it,” Lillard said at the news conference following his Rookie of the Year selection. “That’s not meant to be a **** y statement. But I’m not surprised by it at all because I put the work in to put myself in this position.”
Now thirteen years into his NBA career, he’s only refined his leadership skills.

Those will come in handy soon, as the Blazers have traded for the callow yet phenomenal Ja Morant, giving Lillard his tallest task yet.
The Blazers paid possibly the lowest-ever price for a 26-year-old two-time All-Star and Second-Team All-NBA player; Trading away Jerami Grant and Kris Murray was an exchange of bad money for worse money.

It took six years.
To get here, it took whiffing on Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant (twice), Kyrie Irving (twice), James Harden, Bradley Beal (twice), Chris Paul, DeMar DeRozan and, yes, even Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Yet, with a midnight blockbuster Monday, June 22 that ships Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, team president Pat Riley proved, once again, that he can deliver a hoops wonder to Bayside. And with that, he appeased a fan base that had started to grumble and wonder if it was time for him to step down. Now, the hard work begins.
Make no mistake: this move triggers immense pressure. With Antetokounmpo in the fold, the expectation becomes that Miami is to compete for championships.
There’s precedent for that, too.

The Golden State Warriors finished the season with a 37-45 record, missing the playoffs after being eliminated in the second round of the NBA play-in tournament by the Phoenix Suns. After a decade of success, the Warriors’ domination seems to be coming to an end. Their roster is aging, they continue to deal with injuries, and teams in the Western Conference are only getting stronger.
Because Head Coach Steve Kerr’s contract was in its final year, many ***** umed this would be the last go-around with the original core. However, they decided to extend him for two more years, and he will be back to coach Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green for the foreseeable future.
Golden State’s game plan will be to contend in the West next season and try to capture its fifth championship in 12 years. With all the stars they have on their team, the money is a bit tight heading into the offseason. The Warriors will be able to offer a $15.1 non-taxpayer million mid-level exception. While there are rumors that they are prepared to offer this deal to LeBron James, it is likely that he will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers.
If he doesn’t accept that contract offer, here are four players the Warriors could target instead.
Anfernee Simons is a score-first guard with great shotmaking ability. Although he is only 6’3, he makes up for his size in his athleticism and quick twitch all over the court. Simons began his career with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he learned from Damian Lillard for the better half of a decade. This season, he spent time with the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls, proving he doesn’t need to be the focal point of an offense.
