After weeks of uncertainty, a decision has been made: San Francisco 49ers stars George Kittle and Nick Bosa will board the team's Wednesday flight to Melbourne, Australia, for the Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
That does not necessarily mean both players are locks to play Sept. 10. Kittle is in the late stages of his recovery from a torn Achilles suffered in January; he took part in San Francisco's final three practices ahead of the team's departure. Bosa is dealing with the lingering effects of a second ACL tear in his right knee; he participated in drills during the open portion of Wednesday's practice for the first time since Aug. 3, sporting a black sleeve on his right knee.
Even if Bosa and Kittle aren't yet guaranteed to take the field at Melbourne Cricket Ground, these developments signal there's a strong chance they will. It seems unlikely the 49ers would send either player to Melbourne without - at the very least - intending for them to suit up against the Rams.
Asked Monday if the decision to play or sit Kittle had to be made by Wednesday's flight, head coach Kyle Shanahan said, "It'd be much nicer to make that decision before we go instead of having him go through all that." But he noted that Kittle spending 10 days away from the medical staff and out of team meetings is a "big deal," even if he isn't going to play.
Other players who returned to practice Wednesday: wide receiver Mike Evans (adductor), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (finger) and defensive back Ephesians Prysock (shoulder). Evans, who worked off to the side Tuesday, appears to be on track to play in Week 1.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans (adductor) will practice next week, according to 49ers GM John Lynch on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
SOURCE: David Lombardi - The San Francisco Standard
Huddle Up: Evans has a little more than a week until the 49ers' regular-season opener in Australia, but the murkiness of this injury couple with Evans' advanced age and only playing eight games last season has fantasy managers a bit spooked. His fantasy football draft stock is falling day by day, so perhaps he could be a bit of a value on draft day if his adductor injury is something Evans can work through and gut out. That said, he's more of a fantasy WR3 right now rather than the locked-in starter he's been for the last dozen seasons.

With new tactical adjustments introduced by head coach Dorival Júnior and his ******* istants, Tricolor held its penultimate training session this Thursday (27) before facing Red Bull Bragantino next Saturday (29), at 8 p.m., at MorumBIS, in a match valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.
The morning session at SuperCT began with a warm-up led by the fitness staff.
Next, the coaching staff oversaw a small-sided confrontation drill, working on situations of numerical superiority and inferiority.
Then, the players carried out tactical training with an eye on the match against the team from Bragança Paulista. There was also additional set-piece work.
Just like last Wednesday (26), center back Arboleda (swelling in the left adductor) took part in the entire training session with the group, while forward Victor Sá (traumatic sprain in the right ankle) completed part of the field activity and continued treatment at REFFIS Plus.

After the first matchday of Serie A, the talking points we've seen are the usual ones: refereeing decisions, the transfer market still being open, the post-match reactions where some vent by criticizing and others take little digs as a strategy.
The routine we waited for all summer, however, mustn't put us on autopilot, because something different happened: young Italians actually played. It seems unbelievable, but it's true: Mattia Liberali, Simone Lontani, Alessandro Romano (Swiss with dual citizenship), Emanuele Lulli, Alphadjo Cisse and Alessio Cacciamani took the field.
Some did so as starters, others came off the bench: for not all of them was it their absolute Serie A debut, but the wider public really discovered them just a few days ago. The comparison with the other top European leagues is still a long way off (to put it kindly), but at least we're trying: "Better something than nothing," as Gianni Brera would have said.
After an excellent pre-season with Milan and Ruben Amorim's imprimatur in a press conference, Alphadjo Cisse (without the accent, as he himself wanted to point out) made his debut at San Siro and scored the first Serie A goal of his career. He handled the ball well in traffic, pressed constantly and, above all, scored at the decisive moment.
During the summer he trained on his own in Montesilvano (Abruzzo) to get back into shape after tearing his adductor tendon, an injury that had cut short an excellent season with Aquilani's Catanzaro. Throughout July, Sassuolo and Torino wanted him on loan, but Amorim chose to keep him and throw him in. He is already repaying that faith.

Bayern Munich ended its preseason slate of friendlies with a nice (but scary) 4-2 victory over Heidenheim.
While the play was choppy, but ultimately good enough, the story — again — revolved around the health of Jamal Musiala, who collapsed on the field for the second game in a row. While there will be plenty of focus on that for days to come, it was a strong ending to the preseason.
Aside of some early mistakes, Bayern Munich was the better, more dominant team. Let's dive into the details — here are some quick hitters on the match:
As always, let's begin with a look at the starting XI:
It was revealed right before the game that Joshua Kimmich was battling an adductor issue (there were rumors that he had picked up an injury during the World Cup…could this still be lingering?), while Tom Bischof and Manuel Neuer were held out due to load management. That all led to a very mixed bag of a lineup, especially in the central midfield. Kompany would sub pretty liberally, so it seemed as if almost everyone was on some kind of minutes restriction.

Joshua Kimmich will not play for Bayern Munich in its friendly against Heidenheim after appearing to experience discomfort in his adductor area during training.
According to Bild (as captured by iMiaSanMia), Kimmich was at Säbener Straße and trained in a group alongside Lennart Karl, Konrad Laimer, João Palhinha, and Manuel Neuer. The Bayern ******* istant captain completed sprint exercises at "varying speeds", but reportedly grabbed his adductors during the session.
Later, Bayern Munich formally announced that Kimmich is out. In addition, Tom Bischof and Manuel Neuer are also not available due to their "heavy workload in preseason."
The timing will be worth monitoring. A minor muscular issue would be particularly frustrating for Kimmich as Bayern continue to build toward the start of the campaign, but the club has little reason to take unnecessary risks in a friendly.
Bayern will surely hope this is nothing more than a precaution and that Kimmich is back to full fitness soon.

Bayern Munich midfielders Joshua Kimmich and Bara Sapoko Ndiaye both did not practice in the final session ahead of the squad's preseason friendly vs. Aston Villa per iMiaSanMia:
Joshua Kimmich (slight adductor problems) and Bara Sapoko Ndiaye (knock to the knee) are not taking part in the final training session ahead of tomorrow's game against Aston Villa.
Kimmich's absence appears to be precautionary as Bayern Munich continue to carefully manage the midfielder's workload during preseason, while Ndiaye was also kept out of the session as the club monitored his condition. Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is unlikely to take unnecessary risks in a friendly, especially with the Bundesliga season fast approaching.
Bayern Munich will likely to provide further updates before kickoff, but both players remain doubtful after sitting out the final preparations before the Aston Villa tilt in Hong Kong.
The good thing is that neither issue appears serious at this stage. Below, are some pics from the final session:

The San Francisco 49ers worked out Ogbo Okoronkwo this past Sunday. On Wednesday morning, the team officially reunited Okoronkwo with Raheem Morris.
The former fifth-round pick out of the 2018 NFL Draft has played with some of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, including Morris, DeMeco Ryans, Jim Schwartz, and Vic Fangio.
Okoronkwo, 31, has been a backup for most of his career. He played sparingly under Morris in the one year they spent together with the Rams. Okoronkwo actually played more in Los Angeles once Morris left. From the 2022 to 2024 seasons, he played around 400 snaps per season.
To date, Okoronkwo's best year came with the Texans in 2022, where he generated a 18.5% pressure rate, had 33 stops, and 5 sacks.
The 49ers are in need of edge rush help after losing a potential depth piece in Mikail Kamara to a torn ACL, Keion White with an adductor injury, and Cameron Sample to a knee injury. Mykel Williams remains on the active/PUP List, while Nick Bosa continues to work his way up to participating in 11-on-11 drills.

The hits keep coming for the San Francisco 49ers. Wide receiver Mike Evans isn't practicing on Monday due to a quad strain. Rookie running back Kaelon Black has an adductor injury and will also miss Monday's session.
Depending on the grade of the strain, Evans could miss anywhere from one week to multiple months. If it's a Grade 1 strain, Evans would be sidelined anywhere from 1-to-3 weeks. The problem there is a strain could feel fine early, but a re-tear of the fibers is possible, just as they begin to knit together. It's how these kinds of injuries can go from two weeks to two months. Needless to say, expect the 49ers to be overly cautious with Evans.
Kyle's update, 12:32 p.m. PT: Ian Rapoport said Evans' injury wasn't serious and that he could return to practice sooner rather than later:
Black is the second player in as many practices to suffer a groin injury. Again, depending on the grade, Black could miss anywhere from a week or two to a couple of months, depending on whether it's a mild strain or a complete rupture.
The 49ers have suffered injuries to three of their top four running backs before they made it to the third window of the practice blocks. That explains why they went out and signed Khalil Herbert this weekend.

The Philadelphia Waterdogs will be without the backbone of their defense for at least the next three games.
Starting goalie Matt DeLuca was placed on injured reserve with a right adductor strain, forcing the Waterdogs to hand the crease to undrafted rookie Sean Byrne as they enter one of the most important stretches of their season.
While head coach Bill Tierney expects DeLuca to return this season, the timing of the injury creates uncertainty for a team still fighting for playoff positioning.

BOSTON — As the Red Sox try to match a franchise record by extending their winning streak to 15 victories on Tuesday, they’ll welcome one of their All-Stars back to the mound after a brief injured list stint.
Lefty Ranger Suarez will be activated from the IL to pitch Tuesday against the Orioles, interim manager Chad Tracy said after a 6-5 victory in which Caleb Durbin was the hero. The corresponding roster move is unknown. Suarez came out of a pregame workout — which included playing catch and doing some fielding drills on the mound — well enough to be activated.
Suarez last pitched July 5 in Anaheim, when he left after 2 ⅔ innings of a 7-5 Red Sox win with left adductor tightness. He tried to complete his between-starts work in hopes of feeling good enough to make his next start but three days later was placed on the IL. Because of the All-Star break, Suarez’s 15-day injured list stint meant he missed just one start, a game in which Eduardo Rivera started and the Red Sox beat the Mets on July 11.
BETTING: Red Sox moneyline is set at -136 on FanDuel for Tuesday night’s game versus the Orioles. Our complete FanDuel Sportsbook review provides an in-depth guide on how to use their app.
Rivera, who started Friday against Tampa Bay, is a candidate to be sent down to make room for Suarez on the active roster, as is righty Brayan Bello, who returned from a month-plus stint in Triple-A to pitch well on July 12 against the Mets but has been in limbo since. Between the majors and Triple-A, Bello has made just two appearances — a five-inning start for the WooSox on July 1 and his 4 ⅓ inning outing for the Red Sox in New York — since June 25.

The next step on the comeback trail for Lennart Karl: together with birthday boy Serge Gnabry, who also continued to work on his fitness following the adductor tear he suffered in April, the 18-year-old attacker was able to complete a first session with the ball on Tuesday.
While Gnabry, who was celebrating his 31st birthday, has been back in individual training since late June as he looks to get fit for the start of pre-season training, Karl only resumed running last week. The youngster sustained a muscle tear in his left thigh during preparations for the World Cup in North America and missed the tournament as a result.

Spain take on Belgium in the second quarter-final of the World Cup this Friday at Los Angeles Stadium, with the winner set to meet France in the semi-finals.
Spain comes into this match in outstanding form, currently on a 36-game unbeaten run in competitive matches under Luis de la Fuente. Their biggest strength has been an exceptional defence that has not conceded a single goal in this tournament so far.
After opening with a goalless draw against Cape Verde, La Roja picked up pace with a dominant 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and a narrow 1-0 victory against Uruguay. They carried that defensive solidity into the knockout rounds, beating Austria 3-0 before edging past Portugal 1-0.
Nico Williams remains a doubt as he continues to deal with an adductor injury sustained during the Uruguay match.
Yéremy Pino is also expected to miss the remainder of the tournament after suffering a serious collarbone injury.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Ranger Suarez was unable to pitch in the 2024 All-Star Game because of back stiffness, and there is a chance the Boston Red Sox left-hander will miss the July 14 event in Philadelphia because of a groin injury.
Suarez, named an American League All-Star on Saturday, left Sunday night’s 7-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels because of left-adductor tightness, an injury he said he suffered on a pitch to Jo Adell with two outs in the third inning.
Suarez probably aggravated the injury when he jumped for Adell’s chopper over the mound, a ball that went for an infield single. Interim manager Chad Tracy and a team trainer came to the mound, where Suarez threw one warmup pitch to test the leg before immediately heading for the visiting dugout.
“With that pitch that I threw, I felt a big pinch around the groin area,” Suarez said through an interpreter. “I tried to throw another pitch, but I still felt it, so I came out.”
Suarez, who signed a five-year, $130-million free-agent deal with the Red Sox last winter, said he could not recall suffering a similar injury. He underwent treatment during the game but said the injury “felt the same” by the time he spoke to reporters 2 1/2 hours later.

Spain take on Portugal in a high-profile Round of 16 clash at Dallas Stadium on Monday, with both sides aiming to secure a place in the quarter-finals, where they will meet the winner of the USA vs Belgium encounter.
Spain arrives in the knockout stage in excellent form and looks like one of the strongest contenders in the tournament. They topped Group H with seven points, recovering from an opening draw to record convincing wins over Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
Their momentum carried into the Round of 32, where they produced a dominant 3–0 victory against Austria. Mikel Oyarzabal was the standout performer, scoring twice in a clinical display.
Spain faces some selection concerns ahead of this high-profile match. Both Nico Williams and Yeremy Pino are major doubts.
Williams is dealing with a groin and adductor problem, while Pino is struggling with a shoulder ligament injury. Neither player featured in the win over Austria and is unlikely to be available for this game.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Jarren Duran and Willson Contreras homered, and five Boston pitchers combined to give up two runs over 6 1/3 innings in relief of injured starter Ranger Suarez to lead the Red Sox to a 7-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday night.
Boston’s eighth victory in 10 games completed a three-game sweep of the Angels, who have lost six straight and 12 of 19 since June 14.
Suarez, named to the American League All-Star team Saturday, exited with two outs in the third because of left adductor tightness, an injury he sustained when he jumped for Jo Adell’s chopper over the mound.
The left-hander was followed by Greg Weissert (1-2), Tyron Guerrero and Garrett Whitlock, who combined for 4 1/3 hitless innings. Justin Slaten gave up a run in the eighth, and Aroldis Chapman allowed a solo homer to Zach Neto in the ninth before earning his 18th save.
The Angels scored twice in the first on Jorge Soler’s grounder and Adell’s RBI single. Boston tied it 2-all in the second on Duran’s 13th homer, a two-run shot to right-center off starter Ryan Johnson (1-4).

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Jarren Duran and Willson Contreras homered, and five Boston pitchers combined to give up two runs over 6 1/3 innings in relief of injured starter Ranger Suarez to lead the Red Sox to a 7-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday night.

All it took was one shot taken, one simple movement that did not quite go right and Serge Gnabry’s season was over. During a shooting drill in mid-April, the Bayern Munich player tore his adductor muscle, not only ruling him out for the season but ruling him out of World Cup duty entirely. It was a devastating blow for the 30-year-old, who now has to focus on recovering and making his comeback in the 2026/27 season.
And the the former ***** nal FC player is hard at work in order to make that comeback. BILD reports (as captured by iMiaSanMia) the current status of the player:
Serge Gnabry continued his rehab training on Monday at Säbener Straße under rehab manager Benjamin Sommer – the German international did running laps and drills with the ball – but once again, all in running shoes. Bayern’s expectation for Gnabry was up to 4 months on the sidelines. Two and a half months have already passed. His goal is to return for the start of the season in August.
Bayern will need their #7 back and firing as soon he can be back. Hopefully Gnabry will return and find his old form again quickly.

Germany is preparing to play their first World Cup knockout fixture in 12 years, taking on Paraguay in the Round of 32 on Monday at Boston Stadium.
The Germans progressed as winners of Group E, although their form dipped just before the knockout phase. Julian Nagelsmann’s side began their campaign in emphatic style with a crushing 7-1 win over Curaçao, followed by a solid 2-1 victory against the Ivory Coast.
Their final group game raised concerns, as they were unexpectedly beaten 2-1 by Ecuador after showing clear defensive weaknesses. Despite possessing one of the most dangerous attacking units in the tournament, Germany will need more consistency from their key players to regain control and balance.
Centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a serious ankle injury, meaning Nagelsmann will depend on the experienced pairing of Antonio Rüdiger and Jonathan Tah.
There is also uncertainty surrounding left-back Nathaniel Brown, who missed the Ecuador game with an adductor injury and remains doubtful.

Panama face England at the New York/New Jersey Stadium on Saturday evening, already eliminated from the 2026 World Cup and playing their final group game with nothing but pride at stake.
Two competitive 1–0 defeats to Ghana and Croatia have confirmed their exit. The Canal Men have not scored in either match and remain without a point at this World Cup. Against the most technically accomplished side they have faced at this tournament, breaking that duck will require something close to perfect.
Thomas Christiansen has a near-complete squad available but is without his two most influential midfielders. Adalberto Carrasquilla has not featured at this World Cup due to an adductor injury and suffered a further setback before the Croatia match. With nothing at stake in this fixture, Christiansen has no reason to rush him back.
Captain Anibal Godoy — Panama’s all-time appearance record holder with 160 caps — has managed just one minute of regular action at this tournament through lack of match fitness and is unlikely to start here.
In their absence, the midfield four of Cristian Martínez, Carlos Harvey, Yoel Bárcenas and José Luis Rodríguez is expected to continue in front of a disciplined back five. Amir Murillo operates as right-wing back alongside César Blackman on the left.

The Cubs simply couldn’t afford to wait any longer.
After adding both Edward Cabrera (hamstring/adductor) and Ben Brown (neck) to the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, the Cubs struck a late-night deal, bringing in left-handed pitcher David Peterson from the New York Mets. In return, Chicago sent infield prospect Cole Mathis to the Mets.
Peterson, 30, should enjoy a short commute to join his new club. The move was first reported by ESPN shortly after the Cubs swept a day-night doubleheader in Queens against the Mets on Wednesday night.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the lefty thus far in 2026, sporting a 6.09 ERA in 68.0 innings over 16 appearances, including eight starts. His peripherals, however, tell a bit of a different story. Despite his — and the Mets’ — struggles this season, Peterson has induced groundballs 51.1 percent of the time, sports an xFIP of 4.05 and is just two years removed from a 2.90 ERA in 121.0 innings.
For as much as the club would love to unlock that 2024 version of him, the Cubs don’t even need Peterson to become a top-of-the-rotation starter. This is about weathering a torrential storm and being able to field a full rotation. Peterson — whose contract runs through the end of the season — helps with that for now.

NEW YORK (AP) — Ben Brown and Edward Cabrera were placed on the injured list Wednesday, delivering two more blows for the pitching-depleted Chicago Cubs.
Cabrera was expected to get imaging Wednesday after straining his left hamstring/adductor stretching for a throw at first base Tuesday during a 9-6 win over the New York Mets.
Brown has a neck strain. He is 4-2 with one save and a 1.85 ERA for the Cubs, including 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA in eight starts since joining the banged-up rotation May 8.
The Cubs have six starters sidelined, though opening day starter Matthew Boyd (left meniscus) is scheduled to come off the injured list and start in Brown’s spot Thursday.
“We’re getting a guy that pitched opening day back for us, so that’s a big deal,” Counsell said. “Those are important players to get healthy and get in your rotation.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a three-run homer, Dansby Swanson also went deep and drove in four and the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Mets 9-6 on Tuesday night despite an injury to starting pitcher Edward Cabrera.
The right-hander hurt his left leg stretching to catch a throw at first base for the final out of the fifth inning. In obvious pain, he was carted off the field with a left hamstring/adductor strain.
New York slugger Juan Soto exited in the fifth with tightness on the left side of his back. Francisco Alvarez homered and knocked in three runs for the last-place Mets. Bo Bichette added a two-run shot in a three-run ninth.
Coming off consecutive rainouts, Chicago scored five times in the second against Kodai Senga (0-6), ineffective again in his second start since coming off the injured list. The right-hander issued a leadoff walk and hit a batter with a pitch before walking Carson Kelly with the bases loaded to force in the first run.
Swanson had a sacrifice fly and Crow-Armstrong launched his 17th home run to right-center, extending his career-best on-base streak to 24 games dating to May 26. The star center fielder has 11 homers, seven doubles and 20 RBIs while hitting over .400 during that stretch.

Serge Gnabry, who missed out on Germany's World Cup squad through injury, has taken another step on his road to recovery by completing an individual training session at club Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old suffered a torn adductor muscle in his right thigh in mid-April. On Tuesday, he did some running and mobility exercises, while even working with the ball under the supervision of rehabilitation coach Simon Martinello, the club said.
Bayern begin pre-season training in a month, the day after the World Cup final on July 19. Most World Cup participants will be given extra holiday and can join up with Bayern at a later date.
The German double winners visit South Korea and Hong Kong on their pre-season tour August 1-8 before returning to competitive action in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22.
