Vitor Matos believes 39-year-old Jamie Vardy is still capable of making a mark in the Championship as the former England striker eyes a Burnley debut at Swansea City.
Vardy is set to be named in the Clarets squad to visit the Swansea.com Stadium, having joined Burnley this week after departing Italian club Cremonese.
And Swansea head coach Matos believes the former Leicester City frontman, who scored 200 goals in 500 Foxes appearances, still has the tools to thrive in the second tier.
"He is someone who understands how to score goals," said Matos, who is 14 months younger than Vardy.
"He moves really well - he always did that. He has a lot of talent - his finishing skills are there.

The Detroit Lions' trip to Munich is getting another layer of international attention.
The NFL announced Tuesday that Cage The Elephant will headline the halftime show when the Lions face the New England Patriots on Nov. 15 at FC Bayern Munich Arena. The game kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET and will count as one of Detroit's designated home games.
The performance is part of what the NFL is calling a record seven halftime shows across its 2026 international schedule. In the league's official announcement, Cage The Elephant frontman Matt Shultz explained what the band expects from the Munich stage:
"We have played a lot of shows in Germany over the years and the crowds here have always given us everything they have. Playing a halftime show is a completely different animal, you get one shot in front of a stadium and a global audience, and you have to make every second count. We are going to bring the same energy we bring to our own shows and we cannot wait."

Liverpool turned down a seven-figure offer for Keyrol Figueroa before sanctioning his deadline day loan to Port Vale, according to Liverpool.com, in a move that says plenty about how the club currently view the young striker.
Transfer deadline day was relatively calm at Anfield, but this was one of the more interesting developments beneath the surface. Figueroa, a highly regarded 20-year-old forward, had attracted interest from a number of markets, with Liverpool.com reporting that approaches arrived from Ligue 2 in France, Major League Soccer and Portugal. One unnamed club went further and placed a seven-figure proposal on the table for a permanent transfer, only for Liverpool to reject it.
That stance is significant. Liverpool have clearly decided that Figueroa remains an ***** et worth protecting, even if he is not yet in a position to force his way into Andoni Iraola's first-team plans. The head coach approved a temporary move instead, with the club choosing Port Vale as the destination for a player in need of regular senior minutes.
The immediate picture at Anfield helps explain the decision. Whittingham was hired by Warde Manuel, an athletic director who's now stepping down at the end of the calendar year after being implicated in an internal investigation "into the circumstances surrounding the conduct" of fired Wolverines football head coach Sherrone Moore. Manuel, according to an FAQ the school put out earlier this month about the investigation and its corresponding culture review, demonstrated "failures to quickly and effectively act on allegations of wrongdoing by Athletic Department employees."
Moore, notably, was arrested by police and fired by Michigan in December for what the university described as an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member. He faced a collection of charges, including a charge of felony home invasion, although he dodged jail time by reaching a plea deal earlier this year.
The nefarious web extends further, of course, as Moore's two-season stint at the helm began when he officially took over for Jim Harbaugh, who was in charge of the Wolverines when they were marred by their infamous sign-stealing scheme. That ploy resulted in some casting a perverse shadow over the national ******* le Michigan won during the 2023 season. The BBC has confirmed that 10 women total are speaking out against Leto in the documentary, with nine sharing their stories for the very first time. The alleged incidents took place between the years of 2002 and 2016.
One woman featured in the documentary accused Leto of ***** aulting her in a motel bathroom when she was just 17 years old, according to BBC. A second woman alleges that she was unexpectedly left in a hotel room with the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman, who allegedly threatened her with ***** ual ***** ault, when she was 19.
The third woman claimed she had ***** with Leto in California when she was 17. He allegedly "shrugged" it off when it was brought up that the age of consent in California is 18.
