Juventus are still hoping to shift Jonathan David before the close of the summer transfer window and the latest updates claim that Atletico Madrid have submitted a formal offer for the Canada international.
David joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer after five productive years in Ligue 1 with Lille, but failed to convince in Serie A in a disappointing season on a personal and collective level, which resulted in a fifth-place finish and no Champions League football for 2026-27.

Juventus have already brought in a new centre-forward this summer in Randal Kolo Muani, considered a direct replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, but the Bianconeri are also hoping to replace David before the end of the window as well.
According to the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have recently submitted an official offer to sign David on loan with an option to buy and that the Canada international is 'open' to joining Diego Simeone's side.

Manchester United and Juventus are locked in talks over a deal for Joshua Zirkzee.
That's according to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims that negotiations between the two sides are in 'full swing'.
Juventus have submitted a £2.1 million loan offer, which would include a £25.6m buy option for the end of the season.
However, with United keen to get their money's worth for the 25-year-old, they are angling for the buyout fee to be closer to £30m.
Zirkzee was an unused substitute for the second successive game yesterday as United claimed a 5-2 win – their first of the season – over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

Some moments last only a few minutes but stay with players for years. NFL roster cuts are one of them. Teams make the decision and move on, but players can see their careers, plans, and family lives change with one call. Former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker knows that feeling well, and his 2005 release from the Bills stayed with him long after he left Buffalo.
"Trying to be a good husband, trying to get our marriage off to a good start. And here I get fired. And she had resigned her job to come be with me in Buffalo," the retired NFL veteran said on the Ross Tucker Podcast. "I felt like a bad husband. I felt like I had really let her down, which made it a zillion times worse than just letting myself down."
The release hit Tucker especially hard because he had gotten married just a few months earlier. His wife had already resigned from her job at JPMorgan in New York and moved to Buffalo to build their life around his NFL career. Suddenly, losing his roster spot was no longer just his problem. It affected the person who had made a major career sacrifice to be with him.
"For the first time, you know, me getting released wasn't just affecting me. It was affecting someone else."
Ross Tucker's journey from roster cuts to the broadcast booth shows how NFL careers take unexpected turns. Subscribe for more interesting stories.

The Los Angeles Lakers' offseason has been largely fruitful, marked by the addition of stars and role players alike. Unfortunately, in their pursuit of another roster upgrade, the Purple and Gold were met with disappointment, as Jonathan ******* inga chose to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves instead.
While this could be viewed as a moderate setback, it can also be perceived as an opportunity. With ******* inga off the Lakers' list of priority targets, the Purple and Gold have the luxury to redirect their energies toward other signings. To that end, some low-cost options have been floated. But given the team's needs, L.A. may see merit in revitalizing their efforts to acquire P.J. Washington from the Dallas Mavericks.
Washington has long been on the Lakers' radar, with Luka Doncic even voicing his preference for the forward. While Dallas hasn't been in favor of trading him, NBA insider Jake Weinbach shared a three-team trade framework that could convince the Mavericks to entertain negotiations. Here is Weinbach's trade proposal for the Lakers to acquire P.J. Washington:

Today was deadline day for all 32 NFL teams to trim their rosters down to the 53-man limit. We saw a number of trades over the last few days, and a handful of surprising roster moves, both in terms of cuts and players who survived the cut. For the Minnesota Vikings, while they did not make any huge moves, they did keep three undrafted free agents:
Jacob Thomas, Safety
Brett Thorson, Punter
Dillon Bell, Wide Receiver
Potentially the least surprising undrafted free agent to make an NFL roster this season is safety Jacob Thomas out of James Madison. Thomas has impressed in a big way during training camp and has stacked solid preseason performances. Thorson will be pushing for the starting punter job, and Bell should make a quality special-teamer and depth wide receiver for the Vikings this season.

Dave Hanna was there when it all began.
He'd just started his senior year at BYU in the fall of 1972, helping defray the costs of higher education by working for Dave Schultess in the sports information office, when an unproven ***** istant named LaVell Edwards took over as the Cougars' head football coach.
Up close and personal, Dave watched Edwards' inaugural season and then, after being accepted into graduate school, the next two seasons as well. His job with the SID department was to go to the BYU locker room after games to gather quotes for the media.
Thus he was there in the locker room at the old Cougar Stadium (capacity 30,000) on Nov. 9, 1974, after BYU defeated 16th-ranked Arizona State 21-18 — one of the biggest wins, if not the biggest, to that point in the Cougars' rather meager football history.
He was gathering quotes when LaVell walked in and started addressing the players … and then stopped. The coach was unable to continue because emotion overtook him. All he could do as he struggled without success to gain composure was give the team a thumbs-up and stand down.

After Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner split last year's Grand Slams, the two superstars were expected to continue their see-saw rivalry in 2026.
That hasn't happened.
Instead, injuries have foreclosed the possibility of a clash between the two champions in three of the four Grand Slams, with the Spaniard missing the French Open and Wimbledon due to a wrist injury and the Italian absent from New York because of a knee injury.
Alcaraz and Sinner are far from alone among top players missing big tournaments in 2026 due to injury, a trend that has been a source of growing alarm in the sport.
Italy's Lorenzo Musetti and France's Arthur Fils missed earlier Grand Slams in 2026 due to injury but are playing in New York, while women's number two seed Elena Rybakina is nursing a heel injury as she prepares for her first round. Canada's Victoria Mboko missed both Wimbldedon and the US Open due to injury, along with Britain's Jack Draper.

There was no shortage of drama during Térence Atmane and Jaume Munar's tense first-round battle at the 2026 US Open. The closely contested match saw Munar venting his frustrations before Atmane was left incredulous after being denied treatment by the physiotherapist and supervisor despite his struggles.
Atmane made a strong start to his clash against Munar, clinching the first two sets to take a 7-6(5), 6-3 lead and move just one set away from victory. However, the Frenchman began to struggle in the third set, with his movement compromised as he appeared to be dealing with severe cramps.
While serving at 1-0, 40-40 in the third set, Atmane called for the physiotherapist and received treatment on his right leg. He went on to lose the set after resorting to serving with his right hand due to cramping in his dominant hand. The Frenchman then took a bathroom break before the fourth set.
The drama escalated in the fourth set when Munar halted play in the first game and asked the chair umpire to call the supervisor. The Spaniard voiced his frustration over Atmane's constant conversations with his coach and the delay between his serves, arguing that the umpire should issue time violations.
"Call the supervisor. Three times it happened. It's point, game over, 1-0, we switch and we play. I don't care about what's happening. It's rules. They're talking. It happened two times this game. I just asked you the question because of that," Munar said.

Defensive lineman Jack Pyburn was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and could be the latest player who tries to go back to college after spending time in an NFL camp.
Pyburn was among the cuts on the day NFL teams reduced their rosters to 53. He could now try to get a fifth year of eligibility if he is not claimed on waivers by another team Monday. He'll become a free agent if he's not picked up and is among the players granted a temporary restraining order by a Louisiana court earlier this month that would make them eligible to return to college athletics. Pyburn's likely landing spot would be LSU.
Four other players who spent time on NFL rosters this offseason before being cut were also part of the case: former LSU running back TJ Harden, former Mississippi tight end Dae'Quan Wright, former Ole Miss defensive lineman Zxavian Harris and former Oregon State running back Anthony Hankerson.
These players all entered the NFL draft process because they had used up their four years of eligibility. The NCAA announced a rule change in June allowing players who began college in 2023 or later to have five years to play five seasons.
That rule didn't apply to these players because they entered college in 2022. They have sued the NCAA, arguing they're being deprived of education and potential name, image and likeness benefits by being excluded from the rule.

NICOSIA, Aug 30 (Reuters) - At least eight people died and 18 were missing after a ferry carrying around 270 passengers and crew capsized off North Cyprus on Sunday, leaving survivors clinging to its overturned hull.
The privately owned ferry left the ‌port of Kyrenia at 12:30 p.m. local time (0930 GMT) and immediately started taking on water for an unknown reason, authorities ‌said. It was heading for the Turkish port of Tasucu in the eastern Mediterranean.
Survivors reported the ferry moving erratically, with its last hard impact with the water's surface breaking the bow of the two-hulled vessel, allowing water to seep in. The boat was carrying 267 people, including a crew of eight, while 241 people were rescued.
The disaster occurred just off the coast of Kyrenia, a popular holiday resort for both locals and tourists. The ferry was one of several shuttle sea services that link North Cyprus, a breakaway unrecognised Turkish Cypriot state, with Turkey daily.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the territory. Hours after ‌the incident relatives remained outside a local hospital and the port gates in Kyrenia, waiting for news of their loved ones. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman said he was "deeply saddened" by the incident.

As BYU wrapped up preseason training camp last Tuesday and turned its attention to its opener against Utah Tech on Saturday, head coach Kalani Sitake said the process of turning his program into a bonafide contender in a power conference is mostly complete.
"The goal (when BYU joined the Big 12 in 2023) was to get to where we are at right now, so we don't have a lot of excuses," Sitake said.
"We have great depth. We have a lot of talent, and we have to do our job as coaches to get it done."
One of those jobs is to identify the very best players on the team and put them on the field in positions where they can succeed, even dominate.
That task starts with putting together a depth chart and settling any position battles — there weren't really that many this month — that were still up in the air.

Andrew Garfield has no problem speaking about his 2026 movie releases like The Magic Faraway Tree and The Uprising. However, the famous actor has said before that he prefers to keep his personal life private. Nevertheless, when someone finally asked Garfield about what's going on in his love life, he gave a discreet answer "on record".
Being a celebrity can be tough when so much of your personal life is exposed to the public. A well-known star like Andrew Garfield can prefer a less-is-more approach when asked about his life outside of his career. However, Esquire asked the now-43-year-old British actor how things were going with his love life, and he shared this candid response:
I'll say it on the record: it's not something I will ever talk about. Maybe if I'm married with kids and 10 years into the relationship I might feel comfortable saying 'my wife and my kids'. Maybe. But maybe ******* not!

Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay may be about to make family introductions much more confusing.
The couple is considering Taylor as a possible name for their first child, a baby girl due later this year. Tay confirmed the name has not been ruled out during her August 26 appearance on Call Her Daddy.
"It may be in the mix," she said when Alex Cooper asked whether they had seriously considered giving their daughter the same first name as both parents, according to PEOPLE.
That would leave Taylor Lautner, Taylor "Tay" Lautner and their daughter sharing the same first and last name. The couple has not made a final choice yet, and Tay said the answer will come when the baby arrives.
Cooper went straight to the question that has followed the Lautners through much of Tay's pregnancy: would they actually name the baby Taylor?

Harry Styles did not say Taylor Swift's name at Madison Square Garden. He did not say Travis Kelce's name either. He still gave the crowd an easy one to catch.
Near the end of his August 29 concert, Styles started talking about the building itself. "We're at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks!" he told the audience, according to Variety.
Then he added five more words: "And they also do weddings."
The audience reaction filled in the rest. Swift and Kelce married at the same arena on July 3, less than two months before Styles brought his Together, Together residency to New York.
Styles delivered the line late in Saturday's show after praising Madison Square Garden and the Knicks. Video from inside the arena shows him leaving a pause before the wedding joke.

After the Chicago Bears' preseason loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, there were questions about how they would respond in their preseason finale against the Tennessee **** ans. They answered that question very quickly with a 97-yard score.
That 97-yard touchdown was the start of an incredible night for rookie wide receiver Zavion Thomas and quarterback Tyson Bagent. Bagent only had one incompletion out of 17 pass attempts and threw two touchdowns. Thomas had 140 receiving yards and another 39 yards on a punt return and 22 yards on a kick return.
With the preseason wrapped up and roster cuts on deck, head coach Ben Johnson was satisfied with how Chicago played in their final preseason game this year.
"I thought they brought it tonight," Johnson said. "Defense did a great job playing [the] physical brand that we pride ourselves on and to see a few of those three and outs there in the second half, that was great to see. And then offensively, when Tyson starts the game like that, I think he had one incompletion, 16 to 17. He was on fire. And so you felt like our offense was really rolling when that happened. It was good to see a guy like Zavion get some time and have some production from it, both in the receiving game but also as a punt returner. And then the other guy I highlighted to the team was Maurice Alexander. Just a guy that's selfless."
Wide receiver Maurice Alexander's performance probably flew under the radar with how well Thomas did. But, how Alexander played may prove to be more significant. Bagent and Thomas were not in danger of getting cut, but with how deep Chicago's wide receiver room is, Alexander was not guaranteed a spot on the team and this performance gave him a fighting chance to make the roster.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear prepared for an undrafted free agent to back up QB Baker Mayfield.
The Bucs have released backup Jake Browning, who was signed early in free agency this offseason to be Mayfield's backup. That means undrafted free agent Jalon Daniels, who has impressed all summer, is currently the QB2 behind Mayfield.
The 6-foot, 208-pound Daniels, who played six years in college at Kansas, completed 27-of-44 passes for 239 yards and a TD pass, also rushing 14 times for 37 yards and one more score in three preseason games this summer. He was especially sharp in the first two exhibitions, helping spark second-half comebacks against the Jets and Chiefs.
Daniels might have initially been viewed as a longer-term project, but he started impressing the coaches as early as OTAs and minicamps, and he earned praise from the Bucs coaches for his off-schedule playmaking and quick recognition skills, which earned him QB2 reps in camp. Even with a shakier effort in the third preseason game, losing a fumble and completing 8-of-15 passes for 57 yards, the Bucs have been impressed with the rookie.
The Bucs still could look to add a veteran quarterback, with several expected to be released on cutdown day. But for now, Daniels is the next man up. Tampa Bay opens the season at the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
