Forever Young, who last year made history as the first ***** anese horse to win the Breeders' Cup Classic, vies for a rare repeat in the showpiece of the $34 million racing extravaganza at Keeneland on Saturday.
Trainer Yoshito Yahagi sounded a confident note after the well-traveled five-year-old enjoyed a "perfect gallop" on the Lexington, Kentucky, track on Wednesday in his final tuneup for the 1 1/4-mile, $7 million race.
"The horse is moving beautifully," Yahagi said. "I'm very satisfied. There is no concern about the horse's condition. He is very fresh."
Forever Young was installed as the 2-1 early favorite after drawing the fifth post, and Yahagi acknowledged that the challenge facing the two-time Saudi Cup-winner and jockey Ryusei Sakai is somewhat different this year as they try to follow Tiznow in 2000 and 2001 as the only repeat Classic winners.
"I think the quality of the rivals is the same as last year, but our position this year is quite different from last year," Yahagi said. "Last year, we have to take on the challenge to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. But this year, I think we are in the position that everybody is targeting us, so it's not quite easy to defend the ***** le."

Celine Dion is serving up yet another street-style moment, departing her hotel in Paris today, where she was greeted by her adoring fans.
Pierre Suu/GC Images
The singer wore a Loewe Fall 2026 black dress featuring a sculpted leather bodice and asymmetric shearling-trimmed skirt, a look we first saw on Loewe ambassador Kara Wai back in June.
The silhouette is incredibly modern, particularly the contrast between the sculpted upper half and that exaggerated shearling hem. But this is Celine Dion leaving her Paris hotel, where the pavement has long been her runway. We wouldn't expect anything less.
This latest run of Paris looks also feels different from the fashion extravaganza we became accustomed to during Celine's time working with Law Roach. Reunited with her longtime stylist Annie Horth, who worked with Celine long before that partnership, she appears to have returned to a quieter register.

The very first developments of the Met Gala 2027 are here! (Sorry if you were still getting over Beyoncé and Blue Ivy shutting down the red carpet together this year!)
Every year as May rolls around, fashion enthusiasts all over the world shift their attention to the Met Gala. The extravaganza takes over the Metropolitan Museum of Art's famed stairs for one night, turning every viewer at home into a fashion critic.
However, though many tune in for the theatrics, the Met Gala is actually a yearly fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute, which each spring hosts a different exhibition that informs the night's fashion shenanigans. And that exhibition is going through changes for 2027, with its honoree pulling out after the announcement.
Given how buzzy it is, it's totally understandable that there's already excitement for next year. If you want to know everything about the guiding thread for the Met Gala 2027, we've gathered everything we know so far below.

The stock market's first week after the Big Tech earnings extravaganza went about as well as any investor could have hoped. The initial mixed bag of earnings gave way to general bullishness as AI's spending worries receded somewhat.
And with Friday's jobs report surprise, Fed rate bets were recalculated, sending stocks to the weekend on a high note.
The S&P 500 (^GSPC) closed out Friday up 0.6%, putting the index back into record-high territory.
As we putter through the back nine of this quarter's earnings season, our focus will continue to be split between the drip of more companies opening their books and the economic data that will hopefully calibrate a Fed on the edge between holding and hiking rates.
Wednesday's Consumer Price Index release is circled on the calendar, with economists expecting it to rise 0.2% — both the overall and core figures (no energy, no food). Thursday will see the wholesale version, with the Producer Price Index expected to also rise faster than last month. The week's economic data will close with a reading on retail sales and U. Mich.'s consumer survey data on Friday.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz have celebrated a year of marriage, despite being wed for four years.
The couple officially tied the knot at a three-day extravaganza at the Peltz family's Palm Beach estate in April 2022 in front of 500 guests.
They renewed their vows in August 2025, without the Beckham family.
The pair both marked their new anniversary in an Instagram post on Wednesday. Celebrating their vow renewal, Brooklyn called the actor his "absolute princess".
He penned, "Happy anniversary, Nicola. I can't tell you how much I love you. You are my best friend, and I love you more than life itself.
"I am so lucky to be able to call you my wife. You are my absolute princess, and I promise to always protect you."

Zohran Mamdani stormed into office brandishing the banner of "affordability," and almost singlehandedly pushed the issue to the center of today's political debate. Of all the charismatic, 34-year-old Mayor's initiatives aimed at lowering living costs, the one that's garnered the most coverage is his proposal to get Gotham into the grocery business.
The city-owned food store initiative looks so radical, even for this avowed democratic socialist, because it puts a city in direct competition versus an immense, entrenched private industry. On his other big "affordability" initiatives, providing free bus service and freezing rent on one million apartments, Mamdani's simply using his regulatory and budget powers in the Democratic mayors' traditional vein of tightening price controls on housing and delivering more freebees
This one's different: It's extraordinarily rare for a municipality to challenge local businesses by starting its own enterprises that aim to do the same thing. The only major example: city-backed companies that battle the Verizons and Comcasts to supply broadband. They're all either struggling, or already flopped. Mamdani's predecessor Eric Adams shuttered the $2 billion fiber-optic buildout started a few years earlier under Mayor Bill de Blasio. As for supermarkets, Chicago last year killed plans for a city-owned emporium as impractical. Kansas City, apparently the only major metro ever to open a taxpayer-funded supermarket, ended the failed foray in early 2025.
Hence, Mamdani's plan would probably reign as the biggest push any city's ever made to launch its own business amid a galaxy of private players. The Mayor's identified a big problem. New Yorkers indeed suffer from extremely high prices for everything from chicken to eggs to milk. The city's riddled with "food desert" neighborhoods where residents often can't find much other than processed items nearby, and must travel 20 minutes or more to reach outlets that offer wide choices of fresh foods at low cost.
But that drastic shortage in the metro that ranks among the world's wealthiest is almost totally self-inflicted. Contrary to Mamdani's claim that "the private market alone has not delivered affordable, full-service grocery options," here's the real rub: A web of antiquated regulations—and one in particular that effectively bans big stores where they're needed most—is blocking major chains from deploying billions of their own capital to open far more of the kinds of giant extravaganzas featuring baseball-field length stretches of checkout lanes that bring far lower stickers to the suburbs just beyond Gotham's borders.

LOS ANGELES — After seven international stops, the "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" global press tour and fashion extravaganza finally swung into Los Angeles, where co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya stunned yet again — This time at the Hollywood premiere on Monday, July 27.
Spider-Man Holland, 30, who recently referred to Zendaya, 29, as "my wife," arrived on the red carpet more than an hour before his "Spider-Man" costar and real-life partner, who plays Peter Parker's longtime love MJ in the franchise.
It was worth the wait.
At 7:34 local time, as Holland was deep into red carpet interviews, a sprinter van rolled up to the premiere. Its sliding door flew open, revealing Zendaya standing and perfectly poised like some kind of fashion action movie.
Zendaya stepped out with stylist Law Roach in a stunning black gown from Ashi Studio's Fall 2026 collection. The "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man" star, who has repeatedly stunned on the red carpets of both films' global tours, wore a billowing black train and a plunging neckline with sculptural detailing that mimicked a spider's front appendages.

Down three points with 13 seconds left, Bennett Stirtz quickly went up for the top-of-the-key outside jumper. Clank. It hit the front of the rim. With the ball ricocheting back for a second-chance look, Payton Sandfort's sizzling streak snapped as his outside jumper also fell short at the buzzer.
The Oklahoma City Thunder fell in a 106-103 Summer League loss to the Denver Nuggets. Even at this level, you're guaranteed a banger of a game between these two foes. Still winless in the July extravaganza, it was the most entertaining of the bunch.
The Thunder and Nuggets continued the tradition of most of their game scripts over the last year — all buckets, no defense, fast-paced. Now with a handful of games under his belt, Aday Mara started to play like the Michigan version of himself that helped him end up in the lottery range.
On the other end, it looks like the Nuggets unearthed a second-round gem. Trevon Brazile put up points in a flurry. He showed some flash as he threw down a windmill dunk in transition. He reached double-digit points in a blink of an eye. The Thunder were in a 31-22 deficit after the first quarter.
Eventually, the Thunder fell behind by as many as 13 points. It looked like Denver's fast pace was too much for OKC to keep up with. That said, it didn't really matter. Mara kept trying creative passes. He turned into an offensive hub. Finally, we saw what his ideal role would look like at the NBA level.

Setting a screen for Bennett Stirtz, Aday Mara rolled to the rim. The two first-round picks connected. The seven-footer capped off the textbook pick-and-roll play as he barely needed to jump off the hardwood to get an easy layup. Even with a lopsided scoreboard, those two made this a fun watch.
The Oklahoma City Thunder remain winless in the July extravaganza. They fell in a 104-79 Summer League loss to the Golden State Warriors. That said, Mara and Stirtz looked much more comfortable. That's all you can ask for at this event.
In a matchup between two former Michigan teammates, Mara one-upped Yaxel Lendeborg — who's been a Summer League darling. The former blocked the latter on a second-chance look. Even with the Thunder falling behind early, his play left you encouraged. They were in a 27-16 deficit after the first quarter.
The second frame probably saw Mara's best stretch in Summer League. He backed down Lachlan Olbrich in the post. A couple of power-dribbles later, he went up for the one-handed jam. Later on, he went at Graham Ike in the post. This time, on a turnaround jumper he was fouled on. The Thunder scored 22 points in the second quarter. They entered halftime with a 53-38 deficit.
The second half was much of the same story. The Thunder stayed behind by double-digit points. Will Richard knocked down an outside jumper to make it a 63-43 contest with seven minutes to go in the third quarter. At that point, the Thunder were in a 20-point hole just three minutes into the second half. Any intrigue from this game — in terms of the final result — was lost early on.

Thanks to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, love and equanimity are in the air. Right?
Well, not for everyone. Though many are gushing online over the couple's celebrity-filled wedding extravaganza at New York City's Madison Square Garden July 3, the event has also drawn plenty of backlash from people saying they're over lavish weddings.
"'Let them eat cake' hits a little differently when the cake is served at a billionaire's wedding in Madison Square Garden," wrote one X user. "ur telling me that a billionaire had a wedding raffle of luxury items that she gave away to other members of the elite class of other billionaires and millionaires," wrote another. Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to charities across the country ahead of their wedding, but that seems to have done little to stunt the backlash. As another put it: "I truly think this was the most gauche, gaudy new-money (wedding) I have ever witnessed & I love Taylor Swift."
Swift and Kelce are far from the only famous couple to have their luxury wedding come under the harsh judgment of the internet. Remember Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding in Venice, Italy, which drew protests? Or when Bilt Rewards CEO Ankur Jain and former WWE wrestler Erika Hammond got married in a four-day spectacle in Egypt?
Mental health experts previously told USA TODAY that resentment toward displays of wealth often have little to do with the actual individuals involved. Usually, these harsh reactions stem from deeper frustrations people have with their own economic situations.

Donna Kelce broke her silence on her son Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's wedding on July 4.
The mom-of-two shared a telling comment in an interview with Macy's.
Kelce and Swift got married during a star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
Donna Kelce was still in proud mom mode a day after her son Travis Kelce got married to Taylor Swift during a star-studded Madison Square Garden wedding. As details begin to emerge about the top-secret wedding extravaganza—which reportedly included A-list entertainment, never-seen photos of the bride and groom from their childhoods, custom Christian Dior looks, and a lush garden theme—the Hallmark star shared telling comments as she broke her silence on the couple's big day on the Fourth of July.
Shortly after attending the New York City nuptials, the 74-year-old mother of the groom made an appearance at Macy's 50th Fourth of July Celebration in New York City on July 4. Donna—who shares Travis as well as son Jason with ex-husband Ed Kelce—had a short but sweet answer as she weighed in on her impressions of the Kansas City Chiefs star and Swift's wedding.

Travis Kelce is officially Mr. Taylor Swift—and the proof is everywhere. From giant "Just Married" signs lighting up Madison Square Garden to the Empire State Building joining the celebration, all of New York City seemed to be in on the victory parade. The superstar couple confirmed their wedding through Swift's longtime publicist, Tree Paine, putting an end to months of speculation. Swift and Kelce suited up in custom Christian Dior Haute Couture, with creative director Jonathan Anderson designing their wedding-day looks.
They also skipped the traditional bridal party, instead naming Swift's brother, Austin Swift, as her man of honor, while Jason Kelce lined up as the groom's best man. As A-list guests poured into New York for the headline-making ceremony, the star-studded event quickly became the biggest offseason spectacle. From the guest list and unforgettable fashion to every standout moment from the big day, here's everything we know about the Swift-Kelce wedding extravaganza.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding turned New York City into the biggest offseason spectacle on Friday, with Madison Square Garden serving as the ultimate stage for the power couple's star-studded "I do." Fans lined the streets outside as celebrities from the NFL, Hollywood and beyond rolled in for the black-tie affair.
Representing the football world were Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and wife Kelly, Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, ****** ans coach Mike Vrabel, and broadcasters Charissa Thompson and Joe Buck. Hollywood stars Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, along with author Glennon Doyle and soccer legend Abby Wambach, were also in attendance, while Taylor's longtime friends Este, Danielle and Alana Haim completed the A-list lineup.
The ceremony stayed under wraps, with no official photos released and many of the roughly 1,000 guests slipping in unnoticed. But one detail stole the spotlight: Adam Sandler officiated the wedding. The move carried a fun Hollywood callback to his 2002 film Mr. Deeds, where his character rents out the MSG for a proposal. In New York, anyone can apply for a one-day officiant license, making the casting choice all the more fitting. The Empire State Building even joined the celebration, lighting up in soft blue to serve as Swift's "something blue"—a championship-worthy tribute to the newlyweds.

Twenty days into the World Cup and the figures are in. The main takeaway? A star-spangled soccer popularity surge is engulfing this 50-state land and, so long as the No 1 act is in town, it shows no signs of relenting.
FOX Sports, who spent $485m to acquire the American television rights for the biggest World Cup of all time, have made no secret of their lofty viewership statistics after the group phase. Even withstanding the contrived punditry from the much-maligned Alexi Lakas, the numbers across the board tell the story of a nation gripped by football in an unprecedented manner.
USA’s opening-game triumph against Paraguay, primetime on Friday night, raked in 19 million viewers, topped up to 26 million when including Spanish-language viewers on Telemundo and Peacock. For their other two group games, that total number did not drop below 23 million. For context, Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration last year drew in 24.6 million viewers across all 15 major US networks. And the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals series win, clinched the day after the US victory over Paraguay, drew in 20.6 million per game across ABC and ESPN.
Of course, Super Bowls are always the unassailable Everest for American TV viewership figures; 19 of the 20 most-watched programmes in US broadcast history are the NFL’s annual extravaganza, which regularly tops 120 million viewers. But this summer’s fever of footballing patriotism, intertwined with a natural boom from hosting the event, is only heading one way, so long as business is taken care of on the pitch. The reward for the United States – or USMNT [United States Men’s National Team] as they’re known in these parts – finishing top of Group D is a last-32 match-up against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Santa Clara.
The temporarily renamed 75,000-seater San Francisco Bay Stadium, home to the 49ers NFL franchise, will be a sea of red-and-white as day gives way to dusk on Wednesday evening, with a pocket of boisterous blue-clad Bosnian supporters in the lower tiers. Tickets are priced at $1,200 which makes it the third-most expensive event ever at the stadium, behind two Super Bowls.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — A breakaway group of traditionalist Catholics will challenge Pope Leo XIV's authority next week by consecrating four bishops without his consent. Rather than shying away from the confrontation, the Society of St. Pius X seems intent on embracing its notoriety.
The group, which celebrates the traditional Latin Mass and rejects the modernizing reforms of the Catholic Church, is planning a highly organized, four-day, livestreamed extravaganza for the consecrations at its Swiss seminary — complete with a souvenir wine set offered to those attending.
The July 1 event, nearly four decades after the group first became a thorn in the Vatican's side, suggests it is leaning in even more ardently to its schismatic status for a new generation of Catholics who prefer their Masses in Latin and don't mind that their bishops are out of communion with Rome.
"To me, they look really like Traditionalism 2.0," said Massimo **** gioli, professor of theology at Villanova University, Leo's alma mater. The group, known as the SSPX, has embraced technology and digital branding of its religious identity, despite its antimodern, integralist agenda.
"Their game is not about getting back into the fold, but getting back into the monopoly of that ultra-traditionalist identity," **** gioli said.

Last weekend’s UFC Freedom 250 fight card was an incredible sight to behold and now fight fans can rewatch the action in super slow motion.
UFC’s Washington D.C. takeover, which was led by a massive upset from Justin Gaethje in a main event ******* le fight against UFC lightweight king Ilia Topuria, looked like something straight out of a movie. With live music, incredible pyrotechnics, custom videography, a massive “Claw” hovering over the Octagon, fighter walkouts from the actual Oval office, and the White House in the backdrop, UFC Freedom 250 offered fight fans a look at MMA that may never come around again.
Of course, not everything went down without a hitch. Unexpected lawsuits, potentially hazardous weather, and overwhelming political backlash, were all pre-fight factors for the biggest MMA promotion in the world. Luckily, UFC officials were able to pull it off. The White House event may not have produced Super Bowl-like ratings, but it certainly lived up to the hype.
In case you missed any of the action, UFC just released the Freedom 250 slow-motion video recap on Friday and it’s just as glorious as we remember. From Gaethje’s incredible main event performance to six additional knockout finishes, UFC’s White House extravaganza has never looked better.
Check it out in the above video player and let us know your favorite slow-motion moment!

UFC fighter Sean O’Malley revealed that he told President Donald Trump he had “knocked out a Canadian for you” after his victory over Aiemann Zahabi at the White House’s UFC extravaganza.
The 31-year-old floored Zahabi, who is Canadian, stopping his seven-fight winning streak, during the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House Sunday, which was held on Trump’s birthday and ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.
“I said, ‘Happy birthday, I knocked out a Canadian for you,’” O’Malley revealed on The Ariel Helwani Show.
He added, “I think that’s what I said. People keep asking me what I said, and I’m trying to recall.”
O’Malley noted that Trump replied: “You should get the bonus.”

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — The teams that are ranked 61st, 67th and 85th in FIFA's world rankings all were heavy underdogs in their first matches at the World Cup.
They all played Monday. None of them won. None of them lost, either.
Through five days and 16 matches of soccer's biggest extravaganza ever, the underdogs are proving to be very tough to beat. All four matches on Monday ended in ties — the most in a single day of men's World Cup play since 1958 — and all of them technically could be considered upsets as well.
The biggest win (that wasn't a win) of all saw Cape Verde — ranked No. 67 and in its World Cup debut — hold No. 2 Spain, a favorite to win the whole thing, 0-0 in what easily has been the biggest shocker of the tournament to this point.
“It means everything,” said Cape Verde coach Pedro Leitão Brito, who simply goes by Bubista.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump celebrates turning 80 on Sunday with a showstopping birthday spectacle that once would have seemed unfathomable: a cage-fighting show on the storied South Lawn of the White House.
This week, the hard realities of the office have threatened to overshadow the ostentatious UFC mixed martial arts extravaganza, where combatants sealed inside a wire-mesh octagon try to punch, kick, chop and pummel each other into submission.
Trump has found himself boxed into an unpopular and costly war he helped start in Iran. An agreement to end the conflict could be close, but the crucial details are still to be negotiated. Meanwhile, about a mile from Trump's birthday bash, crews pried the president's name off the Kennedy Center after a judge ruled naming it after Trump had gone too far.
Regardless, the president will walk out of the White House and be surrounded by Cabinet leaders, top administration officials, Republican lawmakers and 4,000-plus spectators screaming themselves ******* se in a temporary arena under " The Claw," a ******* eship-like metal arch fitted with lighting, sound equipment and large screens. Thousands more will be watching on big screens from the nearby Ellipse.
"This event is a one of one event, incredible event. I love it," said UFC chief Dana White, a close friend of the president, during a Friday night hype session at the Lincoln Memorial where pairs of fighters shoved and scuffled for the cameras under the stoic gaze of Honest Abe's marble likeness.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship gala extravaganza hasencountered a legal hitch.

On Friday, the Public Integrity Project—a firm with the missionstatement to "stop corruption"—sued the U.S. government on behalfof two individuals from Virginia. The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District ofColumbia (D.D.C.), defendants include the Acting Director of theNational Park Service (NPS) Jessica Bowron, the National CapitalRegion Director of the NPS Jen Nersesian, the U.S. Department ofthe Interior and its Secretary, Doug Burgum. The plaintiffs requestthat the court deems the organization of the event itself unlawfuland shuts it down, while removing the structures built on the WhiteHouse lawn to accommodate the fight card.

In the suit itself, the demand for relief declares that thearrangement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the WhiteHouse is corrupt, partially due to the personal relationshipbetween President Donald Trump and UFC President and CEO DanaWhite. The lawsuit goes on to point out that the President willgive "unfettered access to the White House and Lincoln Memorial tostage a private, for-profit sports event."
Attorney Brendan Ballou put out a statement to the ******* ociated Pressin regards to the suit. In it, he briefly the reason for why thePublic Integrity Project got involved.

"This is a fundamentally private, commercial, corrupt use of ourmost sacred national monuments for private gain. And that is whatis motivating this lawsuit," Ballou stated.

The grounds for the suit include that the event violates NPSregulations that specifically write the NPS will not permit thestaging of a sporting event that is "conducted primarily for thematerial or financial benefit of a for-profit entity."Additionally, the suit offers that the construction of the UFCstage required congressional approval that was not sought. It alsosuggests that the required environmental impact review to buildthis arena in this location was not run.

The White House had a short response shrugging off the suit, positing that it was no more than obstructionism. In it, the WhiteHouse remarked that this UFC show would be "no different than thevarious other White House-hosted events on the South Lawn andproperly permitted events on the Ellipse and National Mallthroughout the year."
