Manchester City have already broken their transfer record this summer and seen a number of high-profile exits, but more activity is still expected.
After a decade with Pep Guardiola in charge, this summer will be one of the most transformative in recent memory at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca, the Catalan's former ******* istant and ex-Chelsea boss, has formally arrived as his successor.
The Italian has insisted he will not 'try to copy' Guardiola, although he would surely love to enjoy similar success. There have already been numerous adjustments made as City and Maresca build their squad ahead of the new season.
Guardiola was not the only key figure to say farewell to the Etihad at the end of last season. After nine and ten years respectively at the club, both Bernardo Silva and John Stones also said goodbye, as their contracts expired. The former has now joined Real Madrid, with the latter set to sign for Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Nathan Ake quietly joined Fenerbahce during the World Cup and Manuel Akanji's permanent transfer to Inter was confirmed.

Former Utah Jazz wing Johnny Juzang has left the NBA – at least, for now – and will continue his career in Turkey next season.
Juzang has signed with EuroLeague side Fenerbahce, whose name gets almost invariably attached to all fringe NBA players at some point, yet who have already officially announced this deal. It gives the 25-year-old swingman an opportunity to further establish himself overseas following four NBA seasons, three of which came with the Jazz – including by far his best one as a professional to date.

HNB are reporting that Antwerp are considering bringing former QPR striker Michael Frey back to the club. The Swiss forward enjoyed a prolific time with the Belgian side but left during their **** le winning season after being replaced by Vincent Janssen. However, his move to QPR didn't go as planned and after a few months back in Switzerland he is now a free agent. Janssen has since departed Antwerp and the side could certainly do with having an experienced physical presence like Frey up front. It is not clear yet whether or not Frey is open to the return, given he did not leave Antwerp on the best of terms.
After coming through with Young Boys, Frey moved to Lille in 2014. After just 21 games and three goals, with a loan spell back in Switzerland with Luzern, he returned to Young Boys in 2016. Spells with FC Zurich and Fenerbahce followed, as well as a loan to FC Nurnberg, but Frey could not replicate the success he had had in Swiss football. That was until he joined Beveren, then Waasland-Beveren, on loan for the 2020/2021 season. Despite the sides relegation from the Pro League, Frey impressed with 17 goals in 31 games.
The following season Antwerp brought Frey to Belgium permanently. Frey enjoyed a fantastic first season with the club, scoring 24 goals in 46 games. However, after nine goals in 23 games the following season, Frey wanted to leave, with Janssen having taken his starting spot. Frey joined Schalke 04 initially on loan for the back end of the 2022/2023 season, but failed to score in 15 appearances.
In January of 2024 he left Antwerp permanently, joining QPR. After one goal in nine games, Frey entered the 2024/2025 season hoping to push on. He had a decent if not spectacular first full season for QPR, with nine goals in 31 games. However, he fell down the pecking order and after 13 games without a goal left to join Grasshopper back in Switzerland. Frey ended last season with the Zurich based side, scoring two goals in 16 games.

Mike Verweij is reporting that Ajax are keen on reuniting with West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez. However, if Ajax want to bring Alvarez back to the Eredivisie they will have to compete with Spanish side Real Sociedad. West Ham still actually owe Ajax a fair amount of the transfer from a few years ago. Alvarez himself is said to be open to a return to Ajax.
The now 28-year-old midfielder joined Ajax back in 2019 and went on to play 147 games for the club. During his time with Ajax, Alvarez won two Eredivisie ***** les and one KNVB Cup. He left to join West Ham in 2023, playing 73 games across two seasons before leaving to join Fenerbahce on loan last season. He played 18 games for the Turkish side during that time. On his return to West Ham, the side have since been relegated from the Premier League and will be open to selling some of their higher earners, such as Alvarez.

Aston Villa are facing a serious battle in the race to sign AC Milan winger Rafael Leao.
According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have leapfrogged Villa and are now considered frontrunners to sign Leao after tabling a significant bid.
Villa are on the market for a winger to replace Morgan Rogers, who recently completed a British record £117 million move to Chelsea, and Leao is one of several names under consideration.
The Portuguese international is expected to leave Milan this summer, but Villa aren't the only club keeping tabs on his situation.
Their reluctance to act on their interest could now come back to bite them, with Fenerbahce seriously pushing to beat Villa to the signing of the Portuguese winger.

Atalanta have missed their shot for Karim Alajbegovic, and more teams have joined the race, including Juventus, which are also defying Fenerbahce for Brazilian talent André, La Stampa reports.
Corinthians requested €17/18M plus €4M add-ons for 70 percent of the player’s card. The rest belong directly to him and his entourage, who are itching to move to Europe. He was close to Milan in January, but the transfer collapsed late. He notched 7 goals in 41 appearances last season.
The Bianconeri need to be decisive, though, as the competition from Turkey is strong. Instead, they have barely added anybody yet to focus on the exits. In the same role, they made a competitive offer for Frank Kessié, but they didn’t match his request and asked him to wait.
André isn’t the only youngster being chased by Juventus, as they are going after Alajbegovic as well. Atalanta were briefly in the lead, but Bayer Leverkusen raised their request after more sides are seriously eyeing him.
Fiorentina, Milan, and Napoli have also shown interest in the Bosnian starlet, La ***** one reports. However, the biggest threat comes from England. Chelsea have muscled their way into the fray and are currently the favorites, The Telegraph reports.

The midfielder Arda Guler was one of the very few Real Madrid players who avoided any meaningful criticism, despite being a regular starter, for the failure of the last season. He remained a key player for both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, and the highest point of his season came in the second leg of the quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, in which his two goals kick-started the Merengues’ comeback, although they ultimately fell short of achieving its objective.
Guler also participated in the World Cup with Turkiye where he also impressed, but his team was eliminated in the group stage. As a result, he returned to Valdebebas before any other World Cup player, last Monday.
According to Diario AS, the sessions over these five days have been enough for the Turk to impress his new coach, Jose Mourinho, and his staff. He has returned from holidays in excellent physical condition and mentally driven to continue playing an important role at Real Madrid. Some members of the coaching staff can be heard saying: “Güler is flying!”
The midfielder will find increased competition for his starting spot going into the next season. Bernardo Silva has been one of the major bets made by the Merengue club this summer, and he will compete directly with Guler for the attacking midfield spot. Meanwhile, Endrick’s ability to play on the right wing also means more competition in this position for the Turk.
However, he has the advantage of already being in Mourinho’s good books. The Portuguese manager wanted to have him in his team when he joined Turkish side Fenerbahce, and later had a meeting with the player in Istanbul.

Rafael Leao has spoken further on his expected AC Milan departure. Over in Brazil, when attending an event for his clothing brand, the Portuguese touched on his footballing future.
“We’d already talked to the Rossoneri about the possibility of going elsewhere. But as long as I’m with them, I’ll give it my all.”
Following the World Cup, and ahead of a scheduled return to the Milanello training camp, Leao’s group have reportedly already been negotiating with Fenerbahce.
Chatting on the Brazilian podcast “Podpah”, Leao explained his current relationship with the Rossoneri. “I’ve already spoken to the club about the possibility of trying a new experience. I don’t know if it will happen. I have to report to Milanello on the 29th, and while I’m there, I’ll give my all, always respecting the club that has given me everything.”
Despite registering nine goals and three ***** ists in Serie A, Leao had an admittedly inconsistent season in red and black. Such was the steadily growing rift between the player and club that the 27-year-old had already expressed thoughts of leaving in early June.

As we know, the relationship between Leao and Milan now appears to be at an all-time low. The player — by his own admission — is pushing for a new experience away from San Siro, while for the club his sale would represent the main opportunity to raise funds and finance an already very demanding transfer market.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fenerbahce are ready to get serious and have reportedly put a €50 million offer on the table to convince Milan to let Leao leave. The player would have been offered a five-year contract worth €8 million net per season, boosted by bonuses linked to appearances, goals, and winning the Turkish league.
The deal is also reportedly being closely followed by Jorge Mendes, who is said to have offered the forward — unsuccessfully — to Barcelona and Man Utd, while Milan are already said to be considering Genk's Konstantinos Karetsas as a possible replacement, with his club asking for at least €40 million.
calciomercato.com also confirms the strong pressure from the Istanbul club, although it reports different figures. According to the outlet, Fenerbahce are preparing a blitz in Milan and a lower overall offer than the one suggested by the pink paper, while Milan continue to demand a higher valuation to let their number 10 leave. The Turkish club's intention to make a move in the coming hours, however, remains.

Torino and Dinamo Zagreb have both reportedly held talks with the agent of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
The Granata's search for a shot-stopper has been going on for many weeks with very little progress.
Another name on the list would seem to be Livakovic, because Turkish transfer expert Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that his agent held meetings with both representatives from Torino and Dinamo Zagreb.

With Al-Hilal paying €80m for Crysencio Summerville, Roma must turn to other targets, including Antonio Nusa, Diego Moreira and Andreas Schjelderup.

Marseille's new sporting director Grégory Lorenzi addressed the sale of Mason Greenwood (24) to Turkish club Fenerbahçe for €40m, explaining the motivations behind the move at a press conference attended by Get French Football News. "I think you all know the complexities of the Greenwood deal with the image of the player," said Lorenzi during his first press conference at the club. "There weren't a lot of opportunities with Mason, but I want to be precise when I say that the player wanted to leave the club as quick as possible.""The numbers are communicated by people that don't have the right information," Lorenzi said on critics from supporters that the sale price was too low. "All I can say is that the club got what it wanted. Okay, we thought that kore clubs were going to knock on the door. So the best option was this club that the player absolutely wanted to go to."The Englishman joined Marseille in 2024 after concluding a loan with Getafe, scoring 48 goals in 81 appearances under managers Roberto De Zerbi and Habib Beye. It culminated with a return to the Champions League, but a chaotic 2025-2026 season saw OM finish 5th, and with a need to sell players due to deteriorating financial position the writing was on the wall for the former Manchester United. ISTANBUL (AP) — Former England forward Mason Greenwood signed for Fenerbahce to join his third club in three years since being banished from the Manchester United team.
Fenerbahce said in a statement late Tuesday it will pay Marseille 39 million euros ($44.5 million) and gave the 24-year-old Greenwood a four-year contract.
"It was a no-brainer when they (were) interested in me," said Greenwood, who had been pursued by Atletico Madrid, in a video message posted by his new club. "It's the biggest club in Turkey and I can't wait to get started."
Fenerbahce has not won the Turkish league since 2014, while fierce city rival Galatasaray has captured seven ****** les in that time including the last four.
As runner-up last season, Fenerbahce starts its Champions League campaign next week in the second qualifying round, hosting Gornik Zabrze in the first leg.

Fenerbahce have signed English forward Mason Greenwood from Marseille on a four-year contract, with former club Manchester United set to receive a percentage of the fee.
The Turkish club state the transfer fee is 39m euros (£33.27m) but did previously advise it would be a total fee of 45m euros (£38.36m).
Greenwood finished joint-second behind Rennes' Esteban Lepaul in the 2025-26 Ligue 1 golden boot standings with 16.
The 24-year-old, who scored 48 goals in 81 appearances in all competition for Marseille, joined the French side from boyhood club Manchester United in a £26.6m deal in July 2024.
At the time, United said they had negotiated a "sizeable sell-on fee", which is thought to be around 40%, for the academy product.

Mason Greenwood has officially joined Fenerbahce from Olympique Marseille for €39m plus add-ons, ending one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as Roma were frozen out.
The Giallorossi did not disguise that he was the first choice to strengthen their attack after qualifying for the Champions League.
However, while they were prepared to perhaps pay even more than Fenerbahce ultimately did, they could not compete with the reported wages of €10m per season in Turkiye.
Greenwood also seemed to favour a move to Fenerbahce, holding negotiations with two different Presidential candidates, as Roma were unable to convince him.
While Atletico Madrid and some Saudi Pro League sides were also interested, the Englishman had made his decision some weeks ago.

Having long been a target for Roma, it is reported that Mason Greenwood is heading to Istanbul for a Fenerbahce medical, with precise details of the fee to Olympique Marseille, Manchester United and Getafe.
The Giallorossi made no secret that Greenwood was their first choice for the wide left role in attack, and had been preparing a package close to the €50m asking price.

However, Fenerbahce took a different route and started talks with the player early, agreeing personal terms on a vastly superior salary worth up to a reported €9m per season.
Now several sources in Turkiye maintain the deal is done, despite late interest from Atletico Madrid and of course Roma.

Now several sources in Turkiye maintain the deal is done, despite late interest from Atletico Madrid and of course Roma.

The negotiations involving Atlético-MG and midfielder Fred have entered a new chapter, but there is still no imminent outcome for the Atlético fans.
The CEO of the Minas Gerais club, Pedro Daniel, spoke openly about the talks, making it clear that completing the deal is seen as very difficult at the moment.
The main obstacle is Fred's contract with the Turkish club, which runs until June 2027.
Since Galo's board has already decided it will not make major investments in the transfer window that opens on July 20, the deal would only be viable if the player terminates his contract with Fenerbahce.
The player returned to the Turkish club at the end of June, but Atlético continues to monitor the situation closely. Pedro Daniel explained the scenario:

The Egyptian King departed on a free transfer when his contract expired at the end of June. Salah, 34, is now free to pick his next club after reaching an agreement to rip up his £400k per week deal one year early.
The all-time Liverpool legend has been linked with moves to Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia while teams in Europe including Juventus, Roma, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce would dearly love to have him on board.
Salah is coming off the back of a FIFA World Cup campaign with Egypt - where he helped the Pharaohs reach the round-of-16 stage before elimination by Argentina last week.
The transfer race will surely heat up once the two-time African footballer of the year completes his summer break. And right now there remains the possibility that Salah heads BACK to the United States following the World Cup campaign.
Because the Athletic is reporting that the left-footed attacker is a surprise target for ambitious Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City.

Fenerbahce are exploring a summer move for Ollie Watkins, with Aston Villa facing a situation that could gather pace if finances sharpen the club's thinking in the weeks ahead. According to Sports View, the Turkish side are "keen on a summer move for Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins" as they look for a leading forward to front their plans for 2026/27.
There is no suggestion Villa are actively pushing the England international out. In fact, the current stance is clear, they "are not yet prepared to part ways with their talisman". Even so, the report adds that "current financial pressures could force a sale, particularly as they look to retain **** nal target Morgan Rogers". That is the detail to watch, because squad management, PSR concerns and contract priorities often shape decisions as much as pure football logic.
Fenerbahce's ambition is obvious. They are "determined to challenge city rivals Galatasaray" and are targeting a high-profile striker to lead that push. Watkins fits the profile. The report states they are "prepared to offer improved terms", underlining their intent to tempt the "terrific" forward to Istanbul.

From Villa's perspective, Watkins remains central to everything. He is still "the focal point of Unai Emery's high-intensity attack" and the numbers back that up, 21 goals and five **** ists in 55 appearances last season. He also played a major role as Villa reached Europa League glory in May and secured a top-four Premier League finish.

For days, Roma has been watching the Greenwood deal unfold, with Fenerbahçe advancing toward a deal that has put any Italian club out of the running.
However, the Giallorossi are seeking strong attacking wingers who can support Gasperini next season.
Their eyes are on Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho. The 2004-born Argentine finished the season with 43 appearances (2,153 minutes), scoring 8 goals and 4 **** ists. Now, Roma is working on the right offer to convince the Blues.
Roma, though not necessarily secretive, is very active in the transfer market, despite what appears to be the case.
After seeing the Greenwood deal fall through, the Giallorossi are closely monitoring the situation of Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine winger could leave Chelsea, as the Blues are selling him, but for now, a loan option is not open. The market, however, is always evolving, and situations can change.

With Mason Greenwood now close to joining Fenerbahce, Roma continues to monitor the transfer market for a signing to bolster Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack.
Among the players being monitored is Alejandro Garnacho, the Argentine winger from Chelsea who has been in the club’s sights in recent days.
An important update on the 2004-born midfielder’s future has arrived in the last few hours.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is willing to consider selling the player should they receive a suitable permanent offer.
Roma’s interest is nothing new. In recent days, the Giallorossi club had inquired with Chelsea about the feasibility of a loan move, including Garnacho as a potential attacking target.

Yerry Mina could be on the move this summer, with Fenerbahce showing an interest in the Cagliari defender.
According to Turkish outlet Habergo, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Super Lig side have stepped up contacts with the Sardinians in recent hours as they look to secure the experienced centre-back.
Mina has been a mainstay for Cagliari of late, one of the key figures around whom the club built their survival in each of the last two Serie A campaigns.
Any suggestion of his departure is therefore likely to unsettle the Rossoblù faithful, given the influence the Colombia international has had at the heart of the defence.

Roma, awaiting the official transfer of Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahce, will be forced to focus on other attacking wingers who can raise the level of their attack.
For Gasperini, this is a top priority. In his interview with Sky the day before yesterday, the Grugliasco-born coach appeared calm and aware of the work being done by Tony D'Amico.
This calmness contrasts with the fans' disappointment over the failed arrival of the 2001-born player from Marseille.

Wednesday’s reports indicate that Fenerbahce are speeding up in their pursuit of former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and that they are close to securing a deal with Marseille as they hope to beat Roma and Atletico Madrid to the signing of the controversial Englishman.
Roma have been attempting to secure a deal for Greenwood for several weeks as Gian Piero Gasperini hopes to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Marseille are expected to sell Greenwood this summer given their financial difficulties, but value the attacker at €50m, knowing that they will owe 40% of any transfer fee to the player’s former club, Manchester United.
Reports last week claimed that Roma had an agreement in principle on personal terms in place with Greenwood: A potential salary rumoured to be set at around €4.5m during the first year of contract, which would increase over the years.
However, the Giallorossi have not yet had a bid accepted by Marseille, despite reports that they were willing to invest around €45m on his signing.

Manchester City are not drifting through this summer, they are remaking themselves. That is the clear takeaway from the latest The Athletic DealSheet, and when you strip out the noise from the rest of the market, the City picture is sharp enough. Players are arriving, several more could leave, and the squad that starts 2026-27 may look very different from the one that ended the last campaign.
That matters because this is not a routine refresh. It is a squad management exercise with teeth. Bernardo Silva has gone. John Stones has gone. Nathan Ake is heading to Fenerbahce. Mateo Kovacic is “also considered likely to leave”. There are doubts over others too, from James Trafford to Savinho, from Nico Gonzalez to Omar Marmoush. Even Rodri, one of the few names you would normally pencil in without thinking, comes with uncertainty after The Athletic reported that he “has not yet signed a new deal and may not sign one at all”.
When turnover reaches that level, every incoming matters more. Every missed target matters too. And every line about squad planning deserves to be read carefully, because City are balancing short-term needs with the usual long-term instincts that have shaped their recruitment for years.
The headline move is Elliott Anderson. The report states that “Elliot Anderson’s move from Nottingham Forest was announced”, with fuller club content to follow once the 23-year-old returns from England duty. That is a major signing by fee and by implication. Aston Villa’s stance on Morgan Rogers, elsewhere in the same report, frames the scale of it neatly, they would want more than the “British record £116million” City paid for Anderson.
