Aug 6 (Reuters) - Stade Francais said on Thursday that it had ‌been the victim of a ‌cyberattack that affected part of its information system.
French media reported that attackers had published identity documents belonging to 18 players as proof of the breach ‌and demanded a ⁠ransom, threatening to release the remaining documents if payment ⁠was not made by August 15.
"Immediate containment, investigation and recovery measures have been implemented to secure the affected systems ‌and ensure business continuity," the French rugby club said in a statement.
The club said its online sales platforms, including ticketing and merchandise websites, ‌had not been affected and continued to operate normally.
Stade Francais declined to comment on ‌any communications from those behind the attack or on information circulated by third parties. It added that it ‌had filed a complaint with the relevant authorities.

PSG and Liverpool are confident regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement for the transfer of France international winger Bradley Barcola (23), according to a report from L'Equipe. The Reds have made Barcola their primary option to add pace and output in Andoni Iraola's attack. The former Lyon Academy graduate is said to be frustrated over his supersub role under Luis Enrique's tutelage. Barcola was notably benched for PSG's two Champions League finals wins.
Barcola is keen on a move to Liverpool, and L'Equipe reports that the Reds have reached an contractual agreement with the 23-year-old winger. But it does not mean that Barcola's exit will be resolved in the coming days with both PSG and Liverpool still far apart regarding the player's valuation. The Reds reportedly would not want to go higher than €120m for Barcola whereas PSG are sticking to a €150m price tag.
PSG are using several high-profile transfers – such as Morgan Rogers' Chelsea move or Elliot Anderson's Manchester City switch – as a benchmark for Barcola's price. But Liverpool are aware those comparisons are irrelevant given those transfers took place between Premier League sides. Negotiations remain underway, with the parties involved confident that a deal could be reached.
L'Equipe understands that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is expected to make contact with Liverpool's senior management, whom he knows well. The fact both clubs share a minority shareholder in Arctos could also ease the dialogue.

WELLINGTON, Aug 6 (Reuters) - New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said on Thursday he was open to a referendum on whether to change the country's electoral system, ‌opening another split in his centre-right coalition months ahead of a general election.
New Zealand adopted the German-style ‌Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system in 1996 after an inquiry found smaller parties were being shut out of parliament under the previous first-past-the-post system.
Luxon said in an interview with radio station Newstalk ZB that a referendum is "something we should consider", and could be held as early as 2027 if he returns to power following a general election scheduled for November 7.
"I think I would because I actually think that it is quite right to check in constitutionally and say, is this the system, New ‌Zealand, you still want?" he said.

Last April, the two parties announced an agreement until June 2028 that saw the American company's brand immediately displayed on the front of the Biancocelesti's jersey. LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil announced an agreement Wednesday with a lead investor that would allow the rival league to forge ahead without the backing of Saudi funding while making players major equity holders.
O'Neil did not identify the investor, only that it has signed an agreement that was approved by LIV's board and signals "the path forward for the League's next era, driven by and for the players."

According to the records of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Last Night rapper, 56, won't be released from prison until February 20, 2028, a month after his last release date.

The Catalan club reportedly is aware that signing Julián Alvarez from Atlético Madrid will be very difficult. But they are said to have faith that the player's own will can make a difference.
The Argentine is expected to report back for Atlético preseason on August 10th. The Blaugrana are said to be watching like a hawk for movement on that front. They reportedly expect Alvarez will reiterate his desire to leave.
Still, even if Alvarez does make a move, Atlético can still say no. What's worse, the impasse becomes a risk for all parties the longer it goes on. Barcelona need to be able to sign a plan B if the deal falls through. The Madrid club need to find a replacement if he leaves. Alvarez himself will either stay in an awkward situation, or join preseason late for Barça. And all signs point to no quick resolution — if any comes at all.
For the Catalans, the reason they are still in pursuit is twofold. One, Alvarez is their number one choice and both he and the club have worked on the signing too long to just abandon it when the going gets tough. Two, other alternatives are either unavailable or prohibitively expensive.

WASHINGTON (AP) — An ******* ociation of thousands of FBI agents and other groups are backing a lawsuit filed by three bureau employees who were fired last year for their roles in an investigation into President Donald Trump's efforts to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election.
A legal brief by the FBI Agents ******* ociation is one of five filed by outside parties in the last week in support of the agents, who were terminated as part of a broader personnel purge by FBI Director Kash Patel that has targeted employees who investigated Trump or are perceived as being against the administration's interest.
Taken together, the filings, including from former FBI and Justice Department alumni, underscore a concerted and bipartisan pushback to the waves of terminations that have roiled the FBI in the last year and a half as Patel has sought to remake the bureau in his own image.
The briefs argue that the firings were illegal because the agents were denied due process and punished for perceived political affiliation, and say the terminations contradict decades of expectations that the bureau's "apolitical, professional career corps of agents" can work on sensitive cases without putting their careers at risk.
"The Bureau simply cannot function if individual Special Agents must choose whether to accept a lawful ******* ignment that could later get them fired, or alternatively to reject it and become subject to firing for insubordination. However, this situation has not prevented discussions from continuing between the various parties.
One of the standout revelations of the 2025-26 season, Methalie – who is under contract with Téfécé until 2030 – has made quite a name for himself during his debut season in the top flight.

Marc-André ter Stegen is set to undergo a medical in Amsterdam before completing a season-long loan move to Ajax, with The Athletic reporting that the 34-year-old left Barcelona's pre-season camp in the United Kingdom on Thursday after the club gave him the green light to travel to the Netherlands. He will not feature in the Blaugrana's friendly against Birmingham City on July 31.
The Athletic first reported on July 3 that Ajax and Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement in principle over the loan, which would cover the entire 2026-27 season. What should have been a routine exit then stalled for the best part of a month over tax complications arising from the legal frameworks in Spain and the Netherlands – specifically, how the additional fiscal charges generated by paying a salary across two jurisdictions would be distributed between the parties.

Barcelona sources described the situation as considerably more complicated than initially anticipated, while those close to Ter Stegen's camp said the delays stemmed from a determination to structure the deal correctly rather than rush it through. Those issues were resolved on Thursday, clearing the path for him to fly to Amsterdam. As Ter Stegen himself acknowledged briefly at Birmingham Airport before boarding, the process was not quite finished: he still needs to complete his medical, finalise documentation and sign all relevant agreements before Ajax can formally announce the transfer.
The financial structure of the loan has been the defining complication throughout. Barcelona will continue to pay around 90 per cent of Ter Stegen's wages – a figure that could dip slightly depending on his involvement and achievements at Ajax, but only marginally. That is a consequence of the contract extension he signed in 2023, which was back-loaded with deferred salary payments and runs until 2028, leaving the Catalans carrying the bulk of his remuneration regardless of where he plays.
