Double Olympic Taekwondo champion Jade Jones is determined to prove that age will not hold her back as the 33-year-old prepares to box Hungarian MMA fighter Sheena Bathory on 12 September.
Welsh competitor Jones announced herself to the boxing world back in February with a second-round knockout against reality TV star Egypt Criss, before then dispatching Argentine influencer FederiKita in May to take her record to 2-0.
After her winning start, Jones, will now face her toughest test yet as she prepares to face Bathory for the Misfits super middleweight ***** le at Newcastle's Utilita Arena.
Since beginning her boxing career at 31-years-old, the fearless Jones hopes she can inspire others with her journey.
"I wanted to show people that you shouldn't be scared of failing and trying. People do think 'oh you're 33', and I did start to feel like that at the end of my Taekwondo career, that I'm older now and I've kind of passed the line," said Jones.

Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo will return to Budapest for the Ultimate Championships next week, but the Hungarian capital is more than just another stop on the athletics calendar for the Botswana sprinter.
It is the city where the 23-year-old announced himself to the world and where his mother Seratiwa watched him make history for his country by claiming two medals at the 2023 World Championships.

Trabzonspor have accepted the "emotional" resignation of head coach Fatih Tekke after the Turkish side initially rejected his request to step down.
Tekke, who led Trabzonspor to a third‑place finish in the league last season, tendered his resignation after his side were knocked out of the Europa League play‑off round 5‑0 on aggregate by Hungarian club Ferencvaros.
After rejecting his request on Friday and suggesting the 48‑year‑old made the decision under the "intense emotional impact" of the Europa League exit, the Super Lig club have now agreed to part ways with their head coach.

BUDAPEST, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Hungarian authorities will sink two barges in the Danube on Saturday to raise the ‌water level at the Paks nuclear plant to avert ‌a shutdown of one of its last two remaining turbines, as water levels are dropping, Prime Minister Peter Magyar said.
The plant currently operates at around 25% of its capacity due to a historic drought and record low water levels on the Danube river, from ‌which the nuclear plant ⁠draws its coolant.
Magyar said in a Facebook post that current forecasts indicated the water level would ⁠drop to the critical level by early Monday morning at which point one of the two operating turbines would have to be shut down.
"The Danube is receding...The controlled sinking of the barges ‌will begin shortly," he said.
Hungary's government said on Wednesday that it would build a riverbed "sill", a submerged, dam-like structure built crosswise on the bottom of a river channel, to manage water flow. That will take weeks.

Liverpool have won two pre-season games, 1-0 against Wrexham and 4-2 against Sunderland, but the more important development may be cultural rather than cosmetic. Dominik Szoboszlai has said plainly what many around Anfield wanted to hear, that intensity is back under Andoni Iraola.
The Hungarian midfielder did not dress it up. Speaking during Liverpool's tour of the United States, he said: "He is very good. The intensity we need is here now, what we have been missing is back. From the coach side and the players, now we have to put this together."
That is a significant line. It tells you what Iraola has prioritised from day one, and it also tells you what the squad felt had slipped. Liverpool have had enough neat possession, enough sterile control and enough softness over the past year. The issue was never effort in the abstract. It was tempo, aggression, second **** , pressure and the ability to make opponents uncomfortable.
Iraola has been appointed to fix a side that drifted badly in 2025/26. The **** le-winning success of 2024/25 under Arne Slot stands on its own, but football does not hand out credit for sentiment. Last season was poor, the drop-off was obvious and Liverpool needed a reset. Iraola's first task was always going to be restoring the physical and mental edge that defined this club at its best.
So far, the messaging is direct and the signs are positive. Pre-season scorelines matter less than habits, and the habits being discussed are the right ones. Ajax are through to the next round of the Conference League after a demolition job on Serbian side Vojvodina. They will be joined in the next round of the competition by FC Twente, who ended up losing out in the Europa League to Hungarian side Ferencvaros. Despite the hosts being down to 10 men, FC Twente were unable to capitalise and will now drop down a competition.
Things had been going badly for the Dutch side with Ferencvaros 2-0 up after 50 minutes. The Hungarian home side were already down to 10 men at this point after Belgian midfielder Philippe Rommens had been sent off in the first half. It took FC Twente until the final 10 minutes to put real pressure on, with goals from Wout Weghorts and Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink. Yet these came too little too late for FC Twente to equalise on aggregate and they ended up losing 4-3 overall. Twente will now face Slovakian side DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda in the Conference League.
Ajax had no problem in their second leg against Vojvodina. The Amsterdam side won 4-1 on the night, 8-2 on aggregate thanks to a hat-trick from Oscar Gloukh. Ajax will now face Irish side Shelbourne who beat Estonian side Nomme Kalju over two legs.

Call it a B-spec, call it a heavily revised AMR26, call it whatever you want – what Aston Martin rolled out at the Hungaroring for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is, by any reasonable engineering standard, a new Formula 1 car. Sixteen separate components were declared upgraded, mechanics broke FIA curfew to get both cars fitted in time, and the team reportedly flew spare parts to Budapest just to guarantee Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll could each run the full package. That is not a development update. That is a rebuild.
The backstory is by now well-documented and not particularly flattering. Adrian Newey didn't get serious work underway on the AMR26 until mid-March 2025, and the wind tunnel didn't see a model until mid-April – three months behind rivals who were already deep into the new regulatory cycle. The car that arrived at pre-season testing in Barcelona was overweight, paddock insiders estimated by somewhere between 10 and 15 kilograms, maybe more, and the Honda power unit was generating vibrations severe enough to rattle onboard cameras loose and leave Alonso and Stroll visibly fighting the steering wheel.
At the Australian opener, Alonso qualified 2.462 seconds off the pace. Both cars retired when the vibrations damaged the battery systems. It went largely sideways from there – one point across the opening ten rounds, tenth of eleven teams in the constructors' standings, behind only the expansion Cadillac outfit.
The nose is the clearest sign of how deep the changes go. Where the original AMR26 carried a wide, blunt front structure, the Hungary version features a noticeably thinner, more tapered profile – the kind of slender nose Newey has favoured since his early Red Bull years. That change alone cascades through the entire front end: new uprights, revised aerodynamic ducting, changed actuator mounting, and a completely reworked front wing with reshaped endplates. Per Newey, the forward section of the chassis was lightened to the point that it required a full re-homologation and fresh crash testing – which, depending on your definition, crosses the threshold from upgrade to new car.
Newey himself occupies both sides of that argument simultaneously. "The main structural elements remain the same – the chassis and gearbox architecture don't fundamentally change – but we've taken weight out of both, which required re-homologating and crash testing the forward chassis," he said. So: same architecture, new crash test. Make of that what you will.

World champion Lando Norris has taken a swipe at Formula One chiefs accusing them of putting profit before the sport.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, Norris also claimed F1 fans who have not been reared on Netflix's Drive to Survive series will "hate" this season's regulations.
The new engine rules – a 50-50 split between combustion and electrical power – have attracted criticism up and down the grid. They are back in the spotlight after the power-dependent rounds at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps.

"And there's just going to be so much hope, so much anticipation for this weekend that it all works. Now remember, just because you bolted it onto the car today doesn't mean you've maximised the package today.

The 2026 Formula 1 season has been incredibly brutal for Aston Martin. After tumbling down the competitive order and fighting a severely overweight and aerodynamically flawed chassis, the Silverstone-based squad is finally hitting the reset ****** on.
As the paddock sets up for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the FIA has released the official car presentation documents, and Aston Martin’s submission is nothing short of staggering. The team has declared a massive 16-component upgrade package. This isn’t a simple front wing tweak—this is effectively the debut of the highly anticipated B-spec AMR26.
The official FIA document reveals that nearly every aerodynamic surface on the car has been heavily revised. Unsurprisingly, almost all of the 16 changes are primarily focused on increasing “local load” to conquer the twisty, downforce-heavy layout of the Hungaroring.
The aggressive changes start right at the front of the car. Aston Martin has introduced a completely new, “longer, thinner nose” ****** embly that marries to a highly revised front wing featuring redistributed chord profiles and updated endplate diveplanes. Moving rearward, the team has fundamentally redesigned the car’s underbody.
The FIA document confirms that “all of the permitted surfaces of the floor” have been changed. This includes heavily updated leading-edge floor fences, a highly modified floor edge just ahead of the rear tires, and a completely reworked diffuser.

Real Madrid have officially announced that they will take on Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros in a pre-season friendly next month.
The game is set to take place at the Groupama Arena, in Budapest, Hungary.
“Real Madrid will play a pre-season friendly against Ferencváros on Saturday, August 8th, at 7:00 PM. Mourinho ‘s players will travel to Budapest, Hungary, for the match at the Groupama Arena, the Hungarian team’s stadium, which has a capacity of 22,000 spectators,” the club statement read.
Real Madrid have played Ferencvaros only twice in the club’s history, with both encounters coming in the group stages of the 1995/96.
The home game saw Los Blancos secure a heavy 6-1 win, while the away fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ajax and FC Twente got their European qualification campaigns up and running on Thursday evening. After a poor Eredivisie season, Ajax find themselves having to go through the Conference League qualifiers, while FC Twente are in the Europa League qualification rounds.
FC Twente hosted Hungarian giants Ferencvaros and came undone at the hands of Hattian forward Lenny Joseph. After around 15 minutes, Joseph had given the away side the lead. Twente did get back into the game before half-time, with defender Aske Adelgaard scoring on his debut for the club. However, with 10 minutes to go, Joseph grabbed his second. Twente now have to travel to Hungary and turn things around, by no means an easy task. However, should they lose, they will drop into the Conference League.
Ajax will likely be in the same round should Twente fail to make it through. The Amsterdam club travelled to Serbia to face Vojvodina and came away with a resounding victory. Davy Klaassen gave Ajax an early lead, only for Peter Sukacev to equalise before the half hour mark. Parity did not last long, with Steven Berghuis giving Ajax the lead. Oscar Gloukh and teenager Mohamed Abdalla made it 4-1 to Ajax, who will be confident of seeing the tie out back at home next week.
