NEW YORK (AP) — Bob Mackie, the fashion designer whose visually provocative Hollywood style defined glamour for the 1970s — including putting Carol Burnett in some of her kookiest getups and Cher in her raciest ones — died Monday. He was 87.
"He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do," a read statement on his social media accounts. "His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
Dubbed the "Designer to the Stars," Mackie won nine Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Lady," in which she wore a sheer batwing gown. He was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Science's Hall of Fame in 2002.
He designed gowns for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and concert costumes for Pink. When Marilyn Monroe delivered a breathy, seductive take on "Happy Birthday" at a fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee, she did it in a sheer, beaded gown that Mackie dreamed up in a sketch.

Dominic said he told Tom, "That'll be nice, Tom. You'll enjoy it." But Tom admitted he was too tired to go. He told his father, "Dad, it's too far, and I'm too tired." Tom then came up with another plan and told Dominic he would send him and his mum, Nicola, instead.

However, he said the hotel and restaurant staff expected to see the Hollywood star, only to find Dominic instead. Zendaya's professional and personal success is fueling fresh tension between her and Sydney Sweeney, a source tells the National Enquirer.
The Odyssey continues to break box office records long after its July 17 release date and Zendaya's latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has made over $2 billion in global ticket sales, per Variety. The actress, 29, also recently tied the knot with longtime love Tom Holland.
"It's got to be hard for Sydney because Zendaya has gone to a new stratosphere," reveals the source. "[She and Tom] have achieved total superstardom and everyone, including Sydney, can see that."

A fashion label called Fecal Matter is having a moment.
Matières Fécales — literally French for "fecal matter" — has gone from an intentionally provocative outsider project to dressing some of the world's biggest celebrities, including Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Demi Moore and Kylie Jenner.
And yes, the name is intentional.
Canadian designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran founded the label after meeting as fashion students in Montreal. Frustrated with an industry they viewed as wasteful, exclusionary and obsessed with consumption, the pair wanted a name that reflected their criticism of it.
