The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is officially underway. Film junkie or not, you can't deny that Hollywood's finest arrive in Italy ready to bring their best-dressed game. After all, when you're surrounded by your peers competing for some of the industry's highest honors, why wouldn't you dress the part? C'mon. First held in August 1932, the Venice Film Festival has long been one of the industry's most glamorous events, welcoming everyone from Jane Fonda to Lady Gaga over the decades. I'd argue the red carpet is a spectacle all its own, with our favorite fashion houses playing a starring role.
From the water-taxi arrivals to the actual carpet, celebrities often use Venice to offer a glimpse at fashion's next era, stepping out in fresh-of-the-runway Chanel, Dior, Versace, and more. Robert Pattinson, for instance, pulled up in Dior 2027, while Timothée Chalamet famously tested the waters in a daring backless ensemble. Or Zendaya in that Dune-coded Balmain look in 2021?
