Arsenal needed to come from behind to win a breathless game 2-1 against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium as Kai Havertz scored for the third time in the Premier League against his former club.
Havertz netted midway through the first half to equalise after Morgan Rogers, who the champions missed out on signing during the transfer window, had stunned home fans with a volleyed goal after 77 seconds.
The Germany international was instrumental too in Martin Odegaard's 50th-minute winner, executing a delightful dummy to leave Chelsea's defence flatfooted and create room for the captain to rifle home.

It's been a season of big changes for the Colorado Rockies, and tonight is no different. According to Woody Paige of the Denver Gazette, ******* and Charlie Monfort may be planning to sell even more of the team to the Penner Sports Group, who joined the ownership group in April by purchasing 40% of the club.
Paige writes, "According to multiple sources, the Penners and Waltons intend to take over the 30-season-old club when and if Major League Baseball returns sometime in 2027." They are looking to purchase 35% more of the team, bringing their total ownership stake to 75%. However, the Monforts will likely remain on as minority owners, keeping around 20%, according to Paige.
This comes on the heels of Stan Kroenke buying the Angels, after apparently trying to buy the Rockies.

Nick Kyrgios is eligible to return to tennis after accepting a one-month ban for testing positive for cocaine.
The Australian, 31, was provisionally suspended on 4 August after a sample he submitted during the Mallorca Open in June was found to contain benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.
Kyrgios told investigators from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that he used cocaine at a nightclub in Magaluf in the early hours of 20 June.
He played his first-round match at the Mallorca tournament two days later, losing in straight sets to compatriot Adam Walton.
The ITIA accepted he used cocaine outside of competition after consulting with an independent expert.

FORT WALTON BEACH — South Walton's success won't be measured against the Gulf Breezes and Fort Walton Beaches, but by the Florida Highs and Pensacola Catholics.
Even so, that doesn't make the Seahawks' 2-0 start and 85-0 margin of victory any less fun.
Following a 50-0 season-opening win over Gulf Breeze at home, South Walton went into Steve Riggs Stadium Friday night and got two touchdown tosses from JD Brown, a pair of touchdown runs from Max Madden and watched its defense extend its scoreless streak to eight quarters in a 35-0 running-clock win over a Fort Walton Beach program that just hung 41 points on Pensacola High.

The A's jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd inning when Carlos Cortes smacked a 2-run homer to right. Fast forward to the 5th, with the Twins offense still struggling against lefty rookie Gage Jump, Taj threw 9 pitches and all of them were strikes for the first immaculate inning in Twins history. This was surprising to me, I figured Johan Santana or somebody must have done it before, but I guess not.
Things were still looking great for Taj two outs into the 6th inning, but a single by Lawrence Butler, an RBI double by Tommy White, and an RBI single by Donovan Walton pushed their lead to 4 runs.
The one hit the Twins had in the first 6 innings against Jump was a pop up that landed 5 feet from the pitcher's mound in the 4th. I'm not sure how this is considered a hit, but it does help Royce Lewis' batting average, I guess. In the top of the 7th, Royce got himself a "real" hit with a line drive to left. One out later, Kaelen Culpepper doubled to bring in the Twins first run. Then a Brooks Lee double put two in scoring position for Victor Caratini, who grounded out for an RBI to make it a 2-4 game. The final chance for the Twins tonight came with 2 on and 2 out for Luke Keaschall, but he struck out looking to end the threat.
To add injury to insult, Buxton had to leave the game after appearing to aggravate his hip chasing down a ball in the gap in the 7th inning.
In the standings, the Twins sit at 64-69 and may fall to 3 games back in the wild card hunt. Also, the Royals have won 9 straight somehow.

The Athletics opened a three-game series against the Houston Astros, hoping to get back in the win column in the first game of Players' Weekend. In a matchup between two teams desperate for a win, the Astros emerged victorious, winning the series-opener 4-0 in a game where the A's never posed a threat.
After Astros starter Hayden Wesneski worked a scoreless first inning, the hosts immediately threatened to score as A's starter J.T. Ginn failed to retire either of the first two batters he faced. The A's right-hander escaped the jam, leaving Houston unable to capitalize on its golden opportunity to take the lead.
With one out in the third inning, shortstop Donovan Walton singled to record the Athletics first hit of the game. Walton stole second with two outs, putting himself in scoring position. Wesneski escaped the jam by getting Jeff McNeil to pop out, stranding two runners.
A's catcher Jonah Heim threw out Astros runners attempting to steal second to end two consecutive innings.
A leadoff walk followed by a double put the Astros in position to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth. First baseman Christian Walker's sacrifice fly scored Isaac Paredes, putting the Astros up 1-0. Ginn limited the damage by retiring the next two hitters. A's left fielder Carlos Cortes made a nice catch at the wall, robbing Astros catcher Yainer Diaz of a potential RBI extra-base hit.

Rashod Bateman has been accused of family violence in Georgia, according to court records obtained by TMZ.
The Baltimore Ravens receiver was arrested in June for the incident after turning himself in to the Walton County (Ga.) Sheriff the same day.
Bateman allegedly broke the window of a car with his three month old child inside. The car belonged to the mother of his child.
"We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him," the Ravens said in a statement. "We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment."

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson's major league-record errorless streak at the position is over at 112 games after he made an errant throw in the eighth inning against Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.
Wilson threw wide of Donovan Walton at second base. It came with the A's trailing 9-2, and the Rays scored three times in the eighth to take a 12-2 lead.
It was Wilson's first error since July 6, 2025, and the ninth in his career over 231 games.
Wilson, 24, on Sunday surpassed Mike Bordick's shortstop errorless record of 110 games. His father, Jack Wilson, played 12 years in the majors, also at shortstop.

Iconic actress Julie Andrews' new book, set to hit shelves on August 11, encourages readers to find their voice through the story of one very special, and very musical, pup.
Julie and her daughter, author, editor, and producer Emma Walton Hamilton, have co-authored 35 books together, but this children's book is especially meaningful because it was inspired by a real, four-legged family member: a Miniature Poodle named Shy. The singing dog had been famous in their family long before her 'tail' made it onto the page, and the mother-daughter duo hopes that her stories—both real and fictional—inspire readers to celebrate their talents and strengths, whatever they may be.
Let's rewind: In the 1950s, when Julie was busy rehearsing for her starring role as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, a small Poodle puppy joined the family. Originally, the pup's registered name was "Whisper of Whey," but Andrews' aunt suggested the name 'Shy' to pay homage to both her sweet temperament and her original moniker.
When it came to musical rehearsals, though, the dog wasn't shy at all. Julie revealed, "Each time I sat down at the piano and began to do my scales, Shy would lift her little nose to the air and start to howl, as if she were singing along. I wondered at first if it was a comment on the quality of my singing!"
As days went by, however, Andrews learned she could guide her dog's howling up and down the scale. It wasn't long until the Miniature Poodle became desperate to sing along, which, as endearing as it was, made rehearsing for performances much more complicated than it needed to be.

WALTON — There's good news at Lewis Cass in regards to athletic trainer Sally Young being back on the sidelines as the athletic trainer.
For awhile it looked like that might not be the case. There was a petition on Change.org that got 505 verified signatures. The petition stated: "For residents of Walton, Indiana, and particularly for those of us with children at Lewis Cass High School, the potential job loss of our beloved athletic trainer, Sally Young, is a deeply personal issue."
For a time it looked that Young might be out of a job at Lewis Cass.
But Parkview Logansport Hospital stepped up to the plate and saved the day.
Lewis Cass' previous superintendent Dr. Christopher Daughtry, who recently took the job at Wabash City Schools, also had an ****** ist, as well as the Lewis Cass school board.

SOUTH BEND —Adon Shuler, stalwart safety for Notre Dame football, experienced a brief scare early in the third practice of fall camp.
The two-time captain and multiyear starter came up limping after CJ Carr completed a short pass over the middle to Micah Gilbert on the first play of a two-minute drill.
Shuler headed to the sideline medical tent, where he spent several minutes with a team athletic trainer. Shuler's right cleat was removed, and training staff appeared to focus on the safety's right knee as well.
A compression sleeve was added to Shuler's right knee.

There are movies that we love, and then there are movies that become embedded in the cultural zeitgeist and hit us right in the heart. Julie Andrews is breathing rare air as an actor who has more than one such film to her credit. "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins," for examples, have dazzled generations of audiences. She married set and costume designer Tony Walton in May 1959 in beautiful Surrey, England, and get this: Walton designed her wedding dress. While most brides would hesitate to trust their husbands-to-be with the hors d'oeuvres, Andrews charged Walton with the pièce de résistance. He tackled the task beautifully, because his bride looked stunning in her sleeved ballgown, embroidered with floral appliqués — and leave it to Andrews to showcase how to style a pixie cut for every occasion.

The two met as theater kids in 1948, became pen pals, and got engaged 11 years later. "We looked at each other and smiled, and I honestly don't know how it came about, but one of us whispered to the other, 'We should get married soon,'" Andrews wrote in her memoir "Home," as reported by Tatler. And when Disney snagged Andrews for "Mary Poppins," Walton came with to design the costumes. The couple would have one daughter, Emma, in 1962. Thanks in large part to Walton's gorgeous design, his and Andrews' wedding snaps are some of those throwback pics from Old Hollywood star weddings that are beyond captivating.

Friday night felt like the start of something.
A point against Rangers might not sound spectacular on paper, but anyone inside Tannadice knows United deserved to come away with plenty of credit. There was intensity, energy and - most importantly - an identity.
Five league debutants and a new-look side meant plenty of question marks before kick-off. Yet as the game settled, United grew into it.
The opening goal was superb. Josh Rawlins, Jesse Randall, Zac Sapsford and Lachlan Rose, the Thunder from Down Under combination, carving Rangers open with a move that deserved to be finished and thankfully was. Not a 30-yard screamer but they all count.
Rangers responded after the break as you would expect from a side chasing the ****** le and Jack Walton showed exactly why Jim Goodwin was so keen to bring him back.

Charlie Walton: I am told that Will Barton, an 11-year NBA veteran wing, will be joining the Timberwolves' coaching staff this season in a player development role. Barton was an ***** istant coach with the Iowa Wolves last season and with this year's Summer League team. Tasked with a sharpie and the chore above, it would take Miles just 4,141 years, 231 days, 4 hours and 40 minutes to count dollar-by-dollar, the Rob Walton & family fortune. No bathroom breaks. No sleep. No hype sessions on top of the scoreboard.
…but they are going to claim they need your money via personal seat licenses to help offset the cost of building the new stadium.
Personal seat licenses are a one time or recurring fee for season ticket holders to get the right to buy their season tickets. Shockingly enough, the Broncos have managed to survive 66-years of season ticket sales without them, but now they're suddenly necessary? It's a cash-grab scam done by other teams to gouge their fans out of even more money; a scam that casually lives right next to $220 jerseys, $45 hats, and $19 beers.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Patrick Surtain II felt like he was in a maze. Quinn Meinerz was glad his truck wasn't baking in the Colorado sun.
The Denver Broncos prepared to open training camp this week from their new $175 million headquarters, which was designed with players in mind.
"Oh, this is incredible," said Meinerz, the Broncos' perennial All-Pro guard. "I'm finding new things every time. I've just stayed on the first floor. I got to park underground. When I get done with practice my truck's not going to be 150 degrees. That's a nice little thing."
The Broncos will hold their first practice of their acclimation period Wednesday in the shadows of the new state-of-the-art facility funded by owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner.
It was designed to keep players from having to exert extra energy in a superfluous manner, such as long walks to their weight room like they had to make in their old headquarters across the football fields, buildings that will be torn down after training camp next month.

Now that the Denver Broncos are reporting for training camp, fans will likely get a more inside looks at the team's new training facility. While some introductory pictures were released by the team in mid-July, the first interior video of the facility has been shared on Instagram by Kayla Jones, wife of Broncos defensive lineman D.J. Jones.
The video captured several never-before-seen areas of the new building. Some of the new areas shown include an in-house barbershop (complete with an orange and blue striped barber chair), a mini indoor field, shaded table seating on the roof of the building, and a revamped locker room ready for the team.

The $175 million facility, and all its bells and whistles, is a visible sign of the past two seasons of work. The facility was first announced in November 2023 and broke ground in late August 2024. The state-of-the-art campus was funded completely by the Walton-Penner ownership group, and is 30 percent bigger than their old headquarters building, according to the team's website.
The building also is a reminder of the Walton-Penner ownership group's commitment to making the team one of the best in the NFL, both on and off the field. The next big investment in the club will be the team's new stadium, on track to be built at the team's preferred site at Denver's historic Burnham Yard. While finalized plans have not been announced quite yet, the team is committing significant time and energy into the beautification of the area, and community inclusivity. You can see all the updates on the team's stadium website. The biggest remaining hurdle will be the relocation of Denver Water, which is located at Burnham Yard.

A woman wanted in a murder case has spent weeks slipping through law enforcement's grasp, with investigators alleging a string of suspected accomplices helped keep her hidden while she remains on the run.
Isabelle Rose Johnson, 38, is wanted on charges in the killing of Jason Christopher Coulthart. A warrant for her arrest was issued on June 26, and she has been dodging detectives ever since.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office said Johnson, who is a "cunning master manipulator," has been relying on the help of others to stay incognito. Five people have been arrested in connection to the murder investigation.

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball signee Denton Lord announced he will play for the Bulldogs in 2027 instead of signing an MLB contract.
The announcement came on Instagram just after the fifth round of the 2026 MLB Draft concluded on July 12.
The pitcher from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, was ranked as the No. 80 prospect in the draft.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Lord played for South Walton, which won the FHSAA Class 3A championship. His fastball sits around 94 mph but can reach 98 mph. He also throws a curveball in the upper 70s and an occasional changeup in the low 80s.
Lord flipped his commitment from Florida to Mississippi State in November before coach Brian O'Connor's first season.

Naomi Osaka scored her biggest win since her return from maternity leave by knocking off world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Sunday.
No. 14 Osaka, the four-time major champion on hardcourts, overpowered Sabalenka, 6-2, 7-6(2), winning the match with a huge forehand service return o reach her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.
Sabalenka hadn't lost in straight sets in a major since the 2020 U.S. Open. Sabalenka had beaten Osaka in their last three matches, including in straight sets in the fourth round at Roland Garros.
"Going into this match I lost to her like three times in a row, so that really sucked," Osaka said.

When Ohio State signed its 2026 recruiting class, most of the attention naturally gravitated toward the household names.
Players like Chris Henry Jr, Blaine Bradford, Sam Greer, Khary Wilder, and Cincere Johnson generated much of the excitement among Buckeye fans, and for good reason. They were highly ranked prospects with national recruiting battles attached to their commitments.
Yet one of the most intriguing players in the entire class may have quietly flown under the radar. Cornerback Jordan Thomas arrives in Columbus as a four-star prospect from Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, one of the nation’s premier high school football programs.
Ranked as the No. 12 cornerback and No. 103 overall player nationally in the 247Sports Composite, Thomas was a major recruiting win for Tim Walton and Ohio State. The Buckeyes beat out programs such as Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Oregon, and many others for his commitment, and it is easy to understand why they made him such a priority.
At 6-foot-1 and nearly 190 pounds with an eye popping 78-inch wingspan, Thomas already possesses the type of physical profile NFL scouts search for in modern outside cornerbacks. Length cannot be taught, and few defensive backs in the country entered college with the combination of size, reach, and natural athleticism that Thomas brings to Columbus.

These types of games against mid-major conference opponents are vital for a school like the Gonzaga Bulldogs, playing a filler in between matchups with two power conference schools during the non-conference.
According to scheduling guru Rocco Miller of Bracketeer, the New Mexico State Aggies of Conference USA will travel to the Inland Northwest to take on the Zags for their home opener on Nov. 7.
