Former India cricketer Madan Lal reacted after the Indian women's cricket team did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi after winning the ***** le on Sunday.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs to win a record-extending eighth Women's Asia Cup ***** le. However, the Indian players did not come out for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Madan, a member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, questioned the decision and said India should avoid playing Pakistan if such situations continue.
"Once again same old story. If we are going to behave like this then we should not play Pakistan any trophies. I know its Board decision," Madan said.
The Asia Cup trophy controversy has continued for the second year in a row.
The Indian women's team did not return to the field for the trophy presentation after their ***** le win.
India's decision came a year after the men's team also refused to receive the Asia Cup trophy and medals from Naqvi.
Naqvi is the ACC chairman and also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board. He is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan.
The Indian men's team had won the Asia Cup last year but did not accept the trophy from Naqvi.
India are yet to receive the trophy, which has since been kept at the ACC office.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team instead celebrated on the presentation dais without the physical trophy.

INDIANAPOLIS – The crown jewel was diamond at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, and the stars of the National Hot Rod ****** ociation put on a Labor Day spectacle fitting of the hardware's brilliance during the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals.
In celebration of the NHRA's 75th anniversary, the coveted Wally trophies for the 72nd running of the U.S. Nationals were diamond-accented to mark the milestone.
The significance wasn't lost on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series drivers, particularly 60-year-old "Fast Jack" Beckman.
Beckman, who collected his 41st career win, battled a loaded Funny Car field and a mild cold to chase down John Force Racing's 15th U.S. Nationals ****** le, and he achieved the feat in a John Force tribute car from 1996.
"That was just a phenomenal weekend. We tend to give preference to the most recent accomplishment but this one might be more significant because we did it in John's tribute car," Beckman said.

Deion Sanders is still remembered as one of the most iconic players in the NFL's history. His accomplishments while playing for 14 seasons in the league are still remarkable, being an 8-time Pro Bowler, 6-time first-team All-Pro, and the 1994 AP Defensive Player of the Year.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer is also a two-time Super Bowl champion, one with the San Francisco 49ers and the other with the Dallas Cowboys. However, those trophies meant nothing at one point to him.
Sanders won his two Super Bowl trophies back-to-back, with the 49ers in the 1994 season and the following season with the Cowboys. He achieved both of them at the age of 27 and 28, respectively, and became a living icon already at the time. Three months ago, trophies were handed out to the Stanford women and Auburn men at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, bringing an end to a stellar 2025-26 season. But after a great summer of amateur golf (with a couple more big events to go in 2026), college golf's time to shine has returned.
There are plenty of storylines to look forward to this season, but Golfweek is taking a look into a crystal ball to make some predictions for the season, including what may happen eight months from now at Omni La Costa.

The 35-year-old's contract is due to expire next summer but discussions are under way regarding a contract extension that would keep the forward at the Italian club until June 2028. Nothing has been agreed yet.
A highly experienced player, Bonansea has been a mainstay for Juventus, amassing over 200 appearances, winning 15 trophies, including six Serie A league **** les across nine seasons. Juventus have just qualified for the league phase of the Champions League and start their domestic campaign later this month.
On the international stage, Bonansea represented Italy at the 2019 World Cup and the 2025 European Championships, opening the scoring against England in the semi-final.

The Gran Gala del Calcio 2026 took place in Milan on Wednesday night. It is the Italian equivalent of France's UNFP Trophies, a ceremony that hands out individual awards in recognition of the season that has just ended.

Enzo Fernandez has said he has joined a club built for success after signing for Manchester City in a £125m deal.
Fernandez completed his move from Chelsea on deadline day, in a transfer that equals the British transfer record fee.
The 25-year-old reunites with Enzo Maresca at the Etihad, having worked with the Italian at Chelsea. Together, the duo won theEuropa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, with Fernandez now setting his sights on more silverware. At international level, Fernandez won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina and 2024 Copa America.
The midfielder hailed City as 'the most successful club in England in recent times' and said it is a club that is set up to win trophies.

Crystal Palace Palace have completed the signing of Chile international Darío Osorio from Midtjylland an initial season-long loan with an option to buy.

The Argentina midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium as City took their summer spending to around £435m, more than £325m of it on midfielders.

Nicolas Jackson moved permanently to Aston Villa yesterday, completing the transfer that had been expected for much of the past two months. The financial package we've received in compensation is reportedly worth £65m £65, though only about three-quarters of that (£47.5m) is being paid up front. The rest are tied to various bonuses and add-ons, which may or may not be hit depending on how well Jackson does.
How well Jackson's doing has been a big question around Stamford Bridge ever since he arrived three years ago. And though he scored 30 goals in all competitions during his first two seasons, he never quite managed to convince either the fans or the coaches that he is the one to lead our front line. He did seem to have a propensity for wasting chances and for silly bookings (and not just for yellows), though how far of an outlier he might have been in that regard is up for debate. Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche have agreed to a eight-year, $163.2 million extension, his agency announced Friday. The deal will be worth $20.4 million in annual average value; Makar becomes the first player in the NHL to sign a deal exceeding $20 million in annual salary, via insider Frank Seravalli.
Makar is entering the final year of a six-year, $54 million extension he signed in July 2021. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Getting a deal done now allows Makar and the Avalanche to ensure the contract is for eight years. Once the NHL's new CBA goes into effect on Sept. 15, maximum contract lengths cannot exceed seven years.
The Avalanche confirmed the deal with a video of Makar, in which he said he "couldn't be more excited" to stay in Colorado for the long-term future.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp announced the changes Tuesday before the Tour Championship, which currently is 72 holes of stroke play for the top 30 players. Whoever wins the tournament is declared the FedEx Cup champion and earns $10 million in official money from the $40 million purse.
Starting in 2028, the BMW Championship — the only postseason event that rotates is being held that year at Olympia Fields near Chicago — will be for the leading 90 players on the points list. Points from the season continue, and the leader will be the season champion and bonus money distributed accordingly.
The top 32 after the BMW Championship will be broken into eight groups of four-player pools. The leading two players from each pool advance to the final event, which will be match play over four days. Even players eliminated early will play through Sunday to determine final positions.
That means the BMW Championship will offer three trophies — the BMW Championship, the Western Golf ******* ociation and the PGA Tour Championship Series Finale.

The post-Pep Guardiola era begins in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Enzo Maresca's Manchester City host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, both clubs starting the season under new management.
