In the first half of the San Francisco 49ers' 2026 season-opener against the Los Angeles Rams, McCaffrey didn't even lead his backfield in touches. Instead, actually played second fiddle to third-round rookie Kaelon Black.
Black handled eight total touches to McCaffrey's seven in the first half. The split was more noticeable on the ground, where Black got seven carries while McCaffrey got just three.

The 49ers having only two running backs active suggests Deebo Samuel will play a pivotal role out of the backfield. Expect him to be an option still in the passing game, but it likely comes from the running back alignment. If anybody knows how to take on a heavier workload against the Rams, it's Deebo.
It's also a sign that the team is comfortable giving Kaelon black touches. Kyle Shanahan said this past offseason that he regrets not involving more running backs last season. It means you're taking Christian McCaffrey off the field, so it's understandable. Still, the goal is to keep McCaffrey fresh for the last stretch of the season.
With Watkins inactive, Mike Evans, De'Zhaun Stribling, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing, and KhaDarel Hodge are the wideouts. If Samuel's role is more underneath, we'll see whether that means Cowing has a role as the receiver who stretches the field for the offense.

Chanel shoppers are known to be a discerning bunch, but artist Tom Sachs has created an unauthorized replica of the luxury house's sought-after Paris boutique in lower Manhattan.

Located in Sachs' studio at 245 Centre Street, the phony Chanel store has a sign with 31 Rue Cambon on its front door, and a black Chanel-esque ensemble in one street-front window and a red one in the other. During a pass-by Monday night, the studio's security grates were down and a sign on the front door read, "NOTICE BY ENTERING YOU ARE TO BE RECORDED."

Media requests to Sachs were unreturned.

Although Sachs' outpost has a sign with what looks like a handwritten version of Chanel's proprietary interlocked "CC" monogram, the designer label has not been involved in the project in any way. A Chanel spokesperson said Thursday, "Chanel is not involved in this project, and we did not participate in its conception or development. This is not part of the cultural [programs] that Chanel supports around the world and has no affiliation with Chanel."

Scheduled to open Friday and to run through Oct. 10, Sachs' store will have highly limited access — with hours set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The artist's body of work includes jabs at consumerism, materialism, logomania and high-low dressing. His Centre Street studio's new faux Chanel outpost is prismatic in a few ways, including the fact that his ****** e is a short walk to Canal Street where counterfeit goods are sold in abundance.

Sachs' faux boutique coincides with the $20 billion Chanel's accelerating growth and shoppers' fervor for fashion artistic director Matthieu Blazy's designs. Chanel hauls have gone viral, thanks to influencers like Elle Ferguson, who posted in March about traveling 30 hours to get the other Chanel bag of the season — the maxi flap bag in shearling. New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson might in line to start the regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, Sept. 9, as RB TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) remains sidelined.
Truth be told, Stevenson might have started anyway, but now he could see a lion's share of the carries, with only first-year RB Corey Kiner as the other active running back on the 53-man roster.
Henderson has been unable to practice since Aug. 24 due to an ankle injury, and his status for Week 1 is seriously in doubt. In Week 1 of the 2025 season, Stevenson played 46 snaps to just 25 for Henderson, and Stevenson sees more playing time because of his ability to pick up the blitz, and the coaching staff's confidence in his doing so.

Saturday's improbable season-opening win by Michigan over Western Michigan was fueled by a controversial replay decision that seemed to mistakenly award the home team one final second after what appeared to be the last play.
The Big Ten has spoken on the matter — and it has released raw video of the replay process.
"Following video review, it was determined Western Michigan's #18 started his jump from an established out-of-bounds position (left foot) and made contact with the ball with one second remaining on the clock," the Big Ten said. "As shown in the provided video of what was viewed during the replay process, a side-by-side view of the play and the game clock, using a direct shot of the game clock in the stadium, was used to determine the final ruling.
"Eighty-five minutes prior to the game, all broadcast cameras used for the replay system, including the camera on the game clock, are synced using a strobe system to ensure all cameras are aligned.
"Per NCAA Football rule 4-2-3-a, 'A ball not in player control, other than a kick that scores a field goal, is out of bounds when it touches the ground, a player, a game official or anything else that is out-of-bound [sic], or that is on or outside a boundary line,' and thus the clock is stopped."

If the last two weekends proved anything, it's that Allen is back. Behind standout performances from 2029 QB Ty Snell and the entire Eagles defense, Allen has knocked off powerhouses Duncanville and DeSoto to open the season, 50-6. BATON ROUGE, La. — Mother Nature wanted Lane Kiffin and LSU to sit for a little bit longer and think about what they've done. Kiffin and LSU responded by hanging a 51-10 score on Clemson. Litigation isn't all they're good at, as it turns out.
Yes, it's early September. Yes, LSU beat the orange off an overmatched Clemson squad that's unranked and yet still overrated. But after a Saturday night in Death Valley where LSU ran over Clemson on both sides of the ball, it's not too soon to declare that Kiffin's squad might just be for real, and a real problem for the rest of the SEC.
"Imagine if we had pro players," Kiffin told ESPN's Holly Rowe as he left the field at halftime, and how you view that statement — proudly defiant or infuriatingly smug — probably depends on whether you live in the state of Louisiana. Kiffin delivered the line after LSU put the finishing touches on a half in which they'd outscored Clemson by 28 points, rushing for 213 yards and 21 first downs while holding Clemson to a net minus-4 yards and a single first down.
Matters didn't get any better for Clemson in the second half even after a desperation quarterback change. LSU, meanwhile, grew more confident in real time. The patchwork collection of transfers and new staff answered the most serious question facing LSU by working as an actual team, leaving the 10 ½-point spread far behind.
Kiffin always manages to whip everything around him into a frenzy, and late on Saturday afternoon, that included the skies as well as the rest of college football. For a few minutes there around 6 p.m., it sure looked like the Almighty had a problem with the way that Louisiana State University has been handling business lately.

Michigan narrowly pulled off the victory on Saturday night, defeating Western Michigan by a 13-12 final score on a last-second Hail Mary. Across the board, this was a pretty disappointing game despite the victory.
Here's a look at each position group on the roster with grades for how each of them performed.
Bryce Underwood looked to be in control of the offense on the opening drive, but after that, all the old habits seemed to return with questionable decision-making and some throws that just weren't precise. The worst of it was in the final minutes of the game when he fumbled with the game on the line to allow Western Michigan a chance to run out the clock. However, he made a heck of a throw on the last play of the game to J.J. Buchanan to seal the victory. There's still much to improve, though.
What was expected to be the strongest position group on the team ended up having a rather underwhelming night. It wasn't all their fault (more on that later), but the running backs didn't capitalize on their chances either. Jordan Marshall had just 44 yards on 11 carries. Savion Hiter wasn't all that involved in his first game, getting just six touches. What was expected to be a dominant rushing attack didn't get off to a good start at all, and there's also going to need to be big improvement over the next week.
To be clear, this is JJ Buchanan's A+. He was as advertised coming out of the transfer portal, making some impressive grabs, including the game-winning catch for 47 yards as the clock hit zero. He had six receptions for a total of 126 yards. For the rest of the group, they weren't really asked to do much, with just 12 completions on the night. The lack of a big showing from the passing attack wasn't exactly their fault.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Angel City Football Club closed out its road trip with a 2-nil victory over Racing Louisville FC on Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium thanks to a pair of goals by Evelyn Shores.
Despite a scoreless first half, Angel City found a controlling rhythm within the opening 15 minutes and maintained it through the rest of the match. Angel City went into the break with 60% possession, seven more shots (two more on target) and 20 touches in Racing Louisville's box. ACFC created various close chances, including in the 19th minute, when Prisca Chilufya sent a right-footed shot from the center of the box, which was saved in the bottom right corner by Jordyn Bloomer.
It wasn't until the 69th minute that Angel City broke ahead. Shores sent a left-footed shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner of an ****** ist by Sarah Gorden.
The 21-year-old midfielder did not stop there. In the 90+1st minute, Shores doubled ACFC's lead with a right-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner, ****** isted by Ally Sentnor.
Saturday's performance was Shores' first career brace in the NWSL. She now has three goals on the season. It is also the second game the Los Angeles side has won on this most recent road trip. Last week, the team scored a historic 5-2 victory.

Broncos RB Sire Gaines scored on a 38-yard catch-and-run to give Boise State a 14-7 lead in the second quarter a play after Oregon's Evan Stewart **** ed a punt after calling for a fair catch.
However, Boise State should have been penalized on the punt. Take a look:
Stewart should have been given a clean opportunity to cleanly make that catch. While Boise State's Jameson Perry didn't make contact with Stewart, he was exceptionally close to the wide receiver as he tracked the ball. And that itself is a foul.
According to the NCAA's rule book if a player "is located where they could catch a free kick or a scrimmage kick that has crossed the neutral zone, and if the player is attempting to do so, they must be given an unimpeded opportunity to catch the kick." Further, "it is an interference foul if, before the receiver touches the ball, [an opposing player] enters the area defined by the width of the receiver's shoulders and extending one yard in front of him. When in question it is a foul."

On August 25, Qfin Holdings (NASDAQ:QFIN) reported second-quarter results that tell two very different stories at once. Total loan volume fell 25.1% year over year to RMB63,377 million, and non-GAAP net income dropped to RMB454.9 million from RMB946 million just one quarter earlier. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted ADS sank to RMB3.72 from RMB7.70. But buried in the same release, revenue from the company's technology solutions business jumped more than sixfold, and management laid out plans to turn Qfin into what it calls an AI-native lender. Investors have to weigh both halves of that picture.
The clearest growth story sits inside Qfin's tech solutions arm. Loan volume tied to that unit hit RMB10.5 billion for the quarter, up 515% from a year earlier, while the outstanding balance climbed to roughly RMB16.1 billion, up 313%. Through its FocusPRO platform, Qfin now helps banks serve borrowers priced between 3% and 12%, a segment its own consumer lending rarely touches. During the quarter, the company signed two new AI agent projects with banking partners, one built to support loan officers from lead identification through conversion, the other aimed at SME credit review and approval. CEO Wu Haisheng framed the effort as an organizational shift, saying it is "about turning individual and team experience into shared reusable organizational capabilities."
Risk metrics also moved in the right direction during the quarter itself. The 30-day collection rate rose to 88.1%, up 2.3 percentage points sequentially, while the C-M2 delinquency ratio fell 17% sequentially to 0.66%, nearing year-ago levels. The 90-day delinquency rate dropped to 2.83% from 3.5%. On the funding side, ABS issuance jumped 90% sequentially to RMB5.5 billion while issuance costs fell roughly 20 basis points, and overall funding costs eased about 10 basis points as the company leaned on a track record of stable ******* et performance. Qfin also paid a semiannual dividend of $0.46 per ADS, a payout ratio near 30%, and had repurchased $7 million of stock before pausing the buyback program.
Every one of those quarterly improvements sits next to a much rougher backdrop. Sales and marketing spending fell 13% sequentially as Qfin pulled back on growth, and new credit line users fell to 830,000, down from 1.19 million a quarter earlier. New loan provisions hit RMB1.72 billion, a booking ratio of 5.36%, the highest on record. A one-off RMB500 million tax expense tied to a change in tax treatment pushed the effective tax rate to 60.3%, though management expects it to settle near 20% going forward.

The AI commerce and payments company also said its enterprise customer base grew to 1,640 accounts. Numbers like that demand attention, but the same report showed losses widening even faster than sales. Here's what's really going on underneath the headline growth rate.
Rezolve's enterprise base grew from 950 customers at the end of the prior fiscal year to 1,640 by June 30, and management is leaning on partnerships with Microsoft, Google, Tata Consultancy Services, and Tech Mahindra to keep that pipeline filling without building out its own global sales force. That distribution strategy got a notable vote of confidence after the quarter closed: Google selected Rezolve's proprietary distributed database technology following a technical evaluation of 24 competing companies, and the system is now indexing roughly 100 terabytes of data across 10 blockchain networks inside Google Cloud's infrastructure.
The platform also proved it can handle real traffic. During the FIFA 2026 World Cup measurement window from June 1 through July 31, Rezolve's technology logged about 103 million app opens from 9.86 million unique devices across 16 stadiums, along with 5.84 million geofence events. On the loyalty and payments side, the recently completed acquisition of Reward Loyalty expanded Rezolve's footprint to more than 15 markets, and a partnership with Zilch now touches almost 6 million customers, driving over $3.3 billion a year to partner merchants. Management reaffirmed guidance for approximately $360 million in full-year 2026 revenue, implying second-half sales near $229 million, and reiterated a target of at least $500 million in annual recurring revenue by year-end.
Growth this fast has come at a steep price. Rezolve's operating loss widened to $128.1 million in the first half of 2026, compared with $32.4 million a year earlier, and net loss grew to $139.5 million from $57.9 million. Some of that reflects noncash items, including $41.5 million in share-based compensation and $20.4 million in depreciation and amortization, but cash is also going out the door faster. Net cash used in operating activities jumped to $96.1 million from $19.8 million in the prior-year period, and investing activities consumed another $148.3 million, largely tied to acquisitions and platform development.

More than half a decade after the pandemic fundamentally changed how consumers interact with restaurants, delivery has moved well beyond the "turn it on" phase for full-service operators. The focus now is less on adding a sales channel than on optimizing one that touches the kitchen, labor model, guest relationship, and broader tech stack.
"We look at it a little differently nowadays," says Jason Saposnik, VP of information technology for FSC Franchise Co., the parent company of Beef 'O' Brady's, The Brass Tap, and Newk's Eatery. "Early on, the focus was more about just growing delivery sales. Now, we're a lot more focused on whether those sales are profitable, how the restaurants can handle that increased volume, and whether customers are actually getting the same great experience."
The first major improvement in delivery operations was straightforward: getting orders into the restaurant without forcing employees to act as the integration layer.
Saposnik recalls an earlier "tablet ******* " environment in which teams monitored separate devices for DoorDash, Uber Eats, and other channels, then manually entered orders into the POS. "That created all sorts of issues for missed orders and mistakes and delays," he says. "Now, everything just flows into the POS and into the kitchen correctly."

As Penn State heads into its first game of the season against the Marshall Thundering Herd, there are still things they may be figuring out on game day. After all, with over 24 transfers to implement and a whole new coaching staff, things could look a little shaky to start the season. Still, Penn State will have a game plan they believe in and new players will be ready to showcase their potential this season.
Here are five keys to the game for the Nittany Lions this weekend.
The new-look running back room for the Nittany Lions is seemingly one of the most intriguing on the entire roster. Carson Hansen, the Iowa State transfer, looks to be slotted in as the RB1, bringing a more physical play style to the backfield. However, keep an eye out for Ohio State transfer James Peoples, who has had a fantastic camp and offers a bit more of a speed element in the backfield. Still, players like Quinton Martin Jr. and Cam Wallace will look to contribute as well. Penn State fans may be missing both Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen this season, but a plethora of options under Campbell will make this room sneaky strong. Don't be surprised if all four players get touches on Saturday.
As it stands, it looks as if freshman five-star Malachi Goodman will be tasked with the most key position on the offensive line: protecting Rocco Becht's blindside. While Marshall's D-line isn't the biggest of tests, this is still a step up in competition for the young O-lineman. That being said, expect Matt Campbell to give him easy reps to start. That could mean a lot of quick game elements, such as early screen passes or even play-action bootlegs so that Goodman is not right in the line of fire. For Campbell, it should be paramount that a player as important as Goodman will be this season doesn't feel overwhelmed in his first collegiate game.
This kind of sounds cliche, but in his first game as a Nittany Lion, Rocco Becht is playing with house money. While some fans will expect the QB from Iowa State who broke almost every single record with that program, we truly don't know what he'll look like come Saturday. Still, if Rocco Becht plays fast and loose, proving unafraid to challenge the Marshall defense through the air, then Penn State fans will start to believe that Becht could be the guy that can turn this team around. From what we've heard from camp, Becht has proven to be a great leader in the locker room and on the field as well. If that shows up on Saturday, the Nittany Lions might have just found a gem of a player.

For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Browns double-dipped early at a key offensive position in the NFL Draft. In 2025, Cleveland took Quinshon Judkins in round two and took Dylan Sampson in round four. This year, Cleveland took wide receiver KC Concepcion in round one and followed up with Denzel Boston in round two. Similarly to 2025, a 2026 rookie has seemingly locked down a starting role in this offense.
The staff over at ESPN went through and gave the rookie outlook for all 32 NFL teams, and noted that Concepcion is going to be a real weapon for this offense and wants to get him the ball early and often:
Concepcion has been a dynamic addition to the Browns' offense. Coach Todd Monken is using Concepcion in a role similar to the one he created for Zay Flowers in Baltimore, with plenty of motion and a variety of touches. Monken envisions a versatile role for Concepcion as a rookie -- possibly as a punt returner, too. "We've got to find a number of ways to get him the ball with his explosiveness, his quickness, his contact balance," Monken said. "He's going to be a real weapon for us."
Boston also got plenty of praise, with ***** ysts saying his "contested-catch ability and reliable hands" should have him playing the X receiver next to Concepcion. Overall, there is a lot to like about what Cleveland is building on offense.

New Boston College head coach Luke Murray has outlined plans to bring over many aspects of the UConn men's basketball program, from the Huskies' deliberate offensive approach to instilling a collective, team-first approach.
Murray placed the finishing touches on his debut coaching staff in Chestnut Hill over the past week, bringing yet more UConn flavor to his new home. The 41-year-old, first-time head coach hired three staff members with Connecticut ties last week, and on Monday afternoon, Murray hired Jared Terrell as a graduate ****** istant, one of Dan Hurley's best players during his time at Rhode Island.
Terrell, a consensus top-100 recruit out of Brewster Academy, marked a major early win for Hurley during his time in Rhode Island. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard shattered his lofty expectations with nearly 1,800 career points and a standout senior season, averaging 16.8 points on over 41% shooting from 3-point range for a Rhode Island squad that reeled off 16 straight wins and reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round. Terrell played one season on a two-way contract with Minnesota after he was not picked in the 2018 NBA Draft and made international stops in Turkey, Ukraine and Israel before his 2023 retirement.
As for Murray's other additions, Chris Mastrangelo arrives in Chestnut Hill as the Director of Basketball Administration after seven seasons with UConn, rising from student manager to the ****** istant Director of Basketball Operations. Andre Berry, who also played under Hurley in Rhode Island, joins Murray's staff as a player development ****** istant after graduating from UConn with a master's degree in sports management two years ago.
Hartford native Jared Jordan, who won national ****** ist ****** les at Marist in consecutive seasons and was selected in the 2007 NBA Draft, also joins the Boston College staff as Director of Player Development. Jordan, a Kingswood-Oxford graduate, enjoyed a 13-year playing career, largely in Europe, where he remains the all-time ****** ist leader in the German Bundesliga.

Well, this is something to wake up to. According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, overnight Tottenham Hotspur and Everton reached an agreement to essentially swap attackers — bringing Ilman Ndiaye to Spurs, with Richarlison returning to Everton heading the other direction. This is NOT a true swap deal; these will be treated as separate transfers.
In yesterday's post-match press conference, Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi essentially told us that Richarlison asked to leave Spurs for a new challenge. I just didn't realize it would all go down so quickly. According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Ndiaye will cost Spurs about £60m, with Richarlison heading the other direction for a fee of £35m, making the outlay a lot lower than most transfers that Spurs have brought in this summer.
Ndiaye, 26, is a French fooballer who has declared for and plays international football for Senegal. He's been used primarily on the left wing for Everton, but can also play centrally or on the right. He's NOT a striker but could be implemented as a #10 if needed. Ndiaye likes to be on the ball and frequently prefers to take on and dribble past his defenders, which frequently turns into touches in the penalty area and shots. He likes to cut inside from the flank and is also comfortable receiving the ball deeper as a ball progression outlet. His acquisition means that Spurs will essentially only have three first team strikers on the books — Omar Marmoush, Dominic Solanke, and Dane Scarlett — but Ndiaye will fortify Spurs' attacking midfield options. His preferred position at Everton will put him in competition with Mathys Tel and Savinho, but his positional flexibility means he could be an ***** et elsewhere as well. He's also a willing presser and capable of putting in defensive work to make tackles. Despite maybe hinting otherwise yesterday, I'm kind of a fan of this deal.
As for Richarlison… well, I'm sad. He's probably my favorite Spurs player (non-Sonny edition) of this era. He's a vibes guy who always seemed to lift the mood, and it's clear he loved Spurs. But it's just as clear that he's not happy here anymore, and as his career starts to wind down a return to the club that lifted him to stardom feels like the closing of the circle. Everton fans love him as much as we do, and I can't begrudge them, or him, this move. It feels like the right choice.

Just when you thought it was safe to draft a Giants RB, the team signed Najee Harris. Could he be the spoiler in a suddenly crowded backfield?
If you're a Cam Skattebo true believer, or if you plan to add Tyrone Tracy as an insurance policy, there's still a chance that this could all work in your favor. Harris is still returning to form after tearing his Achilles last year. He has only 19 touches since the end of the 2024 season. He has not yet earned a weekly role, and there's a chance he could be a distant third wheel.
More realistically, however, Harris will help stabilize a relatively injury-prone RB corps. Skattebo missed nine games last year and is known for inviting contact. I'd put his over/under on 2026 games played at 13.5. The expectation this summer has been that Tracy would be in line for at least a few spot starts. Although he filled in admirably for Skattebo last year, he regressed a little bit statistically on a per-touch basis, including dips in yards per carry and broken-tackle rate.
The addition of Harris takes some pressure off the Giants to overwork Skattebo, and it also generates competition with Tracy for the 1B role. It's essentially a lose-lose if you've been targeting either of those guys. The only winner is Harris, who has plenty of room to pop based on his current overall-237 / RB66 ADP. We'll know in the next one to two weeks whether he'll be a fantasy spoiler candidate.
