The New York Giants have a fighting chance to overtake their NFC East foes and win the division crown next season.
CBS Sports' John Breech ranked the Giants No. 3 overall in his ***** sment of each team that finished with the worst record in its respective division last season and its chances of going from worst to first in 2026.
If the Giants are going to have any chance of winning the division, they're going to need Jaxson Dart to take a huge step forward and he's going to have to do it while learning a new playbook that's being implemented by new offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Bringing in Nagy certainly feels like a boom or bust decision: It could end up working out or it could end up derailing the season.
Of course, even if the offense is bad, the Giants could still contend, and that's because they have a scary defensive front. This is a team that could win games 13-10 if that's what they're forced to do.
The NFC East is strong. The Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning division champions. Despite losing A.J. Brown in a trade this offseason, they still possess the talent to finish well above .500, though a dip in the win column may occur after their 11-6 mark in 2025.

When the Oklahoma Sooners hired Jim Nagy as the program's general manager, the move was widely viewed as one of the best front-office hires in college football. Few people in college football possess Nagy's combination of NFL scouting experience and college football personnel expertise.
Nagy has earned a reputation as one of football's top talent evaluators, and he has ******* embled a strong personnel staff to help Oklahoma navigate recruiting, the transfer portal and NFL evaluations. Nagy spent 17 seasons working in the NFL in scouting roles with the then-Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Seattle Seahawks.
He later became the executive director of the Senior Bowl, college football's premier all-star showcase for NFL draft prospects. He held that position from 2018 through 2025.
Oklahoma's wide receiver Isaiah Sategna has already seen the value of Nagy's experience firsthand. Sategna explained that conversations with Nagy played a major role in his decision to return for another season instead of entering the NFL draft.
"Just having a general manager that has all those connections, he just laid it out for me," Sategna said. "What he had to say, it was better to just come back. Really show what I can do another year, and then go to the league."

The 2027 recruiting class for the Oklahoma Sooners remains at 27 after running back commit Keldrid Ben reaffirmed his pledge to OU on Friday. Running backs coach Deland McCullough is keeping a player on board who originally committed to McCullough's predecessor, DeMarco Murray.
Ben, who is from Montgomery (Texas) High School, has been committed to OU since December 1st. The four-star prospect checks in at 5-foot-10 and 208 pounds. He's the No. 86 overall player in the class, according to Rivals and a consensus four-star prospect. He has shut down his recruitment, which had been competitive after he ran for 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2025. On the ground, he piled up over 1,500 yards.
Ben joins fellow Texan Jakoby Dixon, who was McCullough's first add through recruiting, as the two RB commits in Oklahoma's 2027 class. Head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy have been hard at work ****** embling a top-flight group, aided by strong success on the field in 2025.
According to 247Sports, Ben is the 14th-best running back in the class, the 39th-best player in the state of Texas, and the 225th-best player in the nation for 2027. He is an important piece of the class that Venables and Nagy are building together in Norman.

On June 29, Silvercorp announced a temporary operational slowdown at its Ying and GC mining sites in China to comply with new nationwide safety regulations. Following a fatal coal mine accident in May, Chinese authorities have mandated stricter safety protocols for all mining operations, requiring the implementation of the "Six Major Safety Systems" across all underground areas.
To address these requirements, Silvercorp Metals Inc. (NYSEAMERICAN:SVM) has suspended operations at affected sites to perform necessary upgrades, including system installations and facility improvements at an estimated cost of $11.5 million. The company is working with five certified vendors to finalize these safety measures over the next 50 days, with work expected to be completed in phases to allow for a gradual resumption of production.

The Oklahoma Sooners, with head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy leading the way, have ***** embled quite the 2027 recruiting class, and it's only early July. Currently OU has 27 total commits, with 13 on offense, 14 on defense, and zero on special teams.
Oklahoma's latest pledge came on Tuesday in the form of Hutto (Texas) High School's Jaiden Fields, who picked the Sooners over Texas A&M, Stanford, SMU, and TCU. Fields is a versatile athlete, but he'll play safety in Norman.
With OU landing another commit, the Sooners are keeping pace in a tightly contested SEC recruiting race. According to 247Sports Composite and their team recruiting rankings for the SEC, the Sooners have the second-best class in the league, trailing only Texas A&M. OU is in tight quarters with rival Texas in the rankings, as three former Big 12 Conference schools currently sit atop the recruiting rankings in the SEC.
What's also impressive is that OU has built this strong class despite losing some players to the decommitment list. Oregon DL pledge Zane Rowe, Cal RB pledge Jaxsen Stokes, Cal WR pledge Demare Dezeurn, and Ole Miss WR pledge Tra'Von Hall were all once committed to Oklahoma.
With Venables and Nagy at the helm, the Sooners have been hard at work putting together what could end up as a historic class for Oklahoma. Although there's still a few months to go before signing day, there's a lot to like about the haul OU is poised to bring in during the '27 cycle.

College football is undergoing a structural shift, and the Oklahoma Sooners are at the forefront of it. The sport has increasingly adopted an NFL-style model, driven by NIL and the transfer portal era.
That evolution has forced programs to build front-office structures, including scouts and general managers, to help manage the extra things and let the coaches focus on what happens on the field.
The Sooners made a splash hire by hiring the Director of the Senior Bowl, Jim Nagy, to be the team's general manager. Nagy served in that position from 2018-25.
Before that, Nagy served in various scouting capacities with the then-Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Seattle Seahawks for 17 seasons. Michael "SEC Mike" Bratton said on "That SEC Podcast" that Nagy's presence is already being felt in recruiting.
"You come in here and hire Jim Nagy," Bratton said. "I think that this is critical here because the first recruiting class was 15th in the country, that's the one they just signed. But the one they're building now is No. 4 in the country... I think it was clear as day they needed a GM. They got literally the best one, I think."

After another successful recruiting weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners are up to 25 total commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. OU currently has 13 pledges on offense, 12 pledges on defense, and zero pledges on special teams.
The Sooners earned commitments from WR Malahn Green, OL Jaxon Lawler, and DB Trenton Blaylock during their last major official visit weekend of the summer for the class. It was yet another strong performance on the trail from head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy, who have been putting together quite the class so far.
While Oklahoma continues to be ranked highly in the '27 cycle, there's more to the story. When stacked up against the other 15 SEC teams, the Sooners are also bringing in a high number of blue-chip (4-and 5-star) recruits to the class as well.
According to Rivals, the Sooners have 12 blue-chip players committed at this time, which is good for third-best in the league, behind only Florida and Texas A&M. At 247Sports, OU's blue-chip number rises to 14, still good for third-best in the conference behind those two teams.
Most, if not all, championship teams in college football feature a certain threshold of blue-chippers, and Oklahoma has roughly half of their current haul that fits into that category at this time. Additionally, they're currently out-performing both Alabama and Georgia, who have combined to win the last six SEC **** les, and 11 of the last 12, when it comes to this metric.

The Oklahoma Sooners have built quite the 2027 recruiting class over the last few months, and it continues to grow even stronger. OU currently has 23 commitments for this cycle, with 12 coming on the offensive side of the ball, and 11 coming on the defensive side of the ball.
Furthermore, those that follow high school football recruiting closely were excited about the state of Oklahoma's crop of high school players in the 2027 class. Many have called it a historically good cycle for the state, perhaps even the best ever. Both Rivals and 247Sports back those claims up. Both sites have three players from the state in the top 50 of their national player rankings, something that has never happened before for the state of Oklahoma.
Each of those three players, Fort Gibson's Cooper Hackett, Bixby's Kaeden Penny, and Mustang's Gabriel Osborne Jr., are committed to the Sooners, meaning that OU head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy not only swept the consensus top three players in the state, they swept the consensus top three players in the state in possibly the state's best class ever.
Hackett stands at 6-foot-7, and weighs 260 pounds. He is ranked as the nation's No. 17 player by Rivals and the No. 14 player nationally by 247Sports Composite. The offensive lineman has an extremely high athletic ceiling and he moves well for his size. He is a player that the Sooners are pinning their future hopes at offensive tackle on.
Penny checks in at 6-foot-4 and weighs 265 pounds. Rivals ranks him as No. 32 player in the country, with 247Sports Composite ranking him at No. 37. The offensive lineman displays strong footwork and body control, especially when it comes to pass protection. He's capable of playing both offensive tackle or lining up in the interior of the offensive line.
