(AP) — President Donald Trump intensified his anti-Muslim rhetoric against Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed on Sunday, portraying him as a threat to national security and questioning his loyalty to the United States in remarks that drew a sharp rebuke from a former top Arab American ally.
Trump called El-Sayed, a former Detroit health official, a "jihadist" who was "on the side of the terrorists" and would "have to go through a metal detector before he's allowed to go into the Senate." He also repeatedly invoked the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, drawing a comparison between stopping El-Sayed from entering the Senate chamber and the passengers who fought back against the hijackers aboard United Flight 93.

"We were in London for like two weeks and when I got back I checked my emails and I had like a bunch of emails from her threatening me: 'You have two options: you can give me this all upfront, or you can pay me in payments over the next f–king whatever. I'm looking to buy a bar or whatever it was.'"

Chris Brown is getting another shot at the eight-figure verdict handed down against him in the dog-mauling case brought by his former housekeeper, but only if she refuses to accept less money.
According to legal documents obtained by Complex, Los Angeles judge Huey P. Cotton ruled that Brown and his company Black Pyramid LLC are entitled to a new trial limited to damages for Maria Avila, unless Avila consents to having her award reduced to $9.5 million. Judge Cotton denied all of Brown's other motions in the filing. Avila was originally awarded $12.9 million by a jury.
Cotton found the jury's $12.9 million figure excessive, pointing to insufficient evidence of permanent nerve damage and of the dollar value the panel attached to Avila's future pain and suffering. The judge did credit the evidence that Avila faces future humiliation, shame, and embarrassment.
The rest of Brown's arguments went nowhere. Cotton rejected the claim that jurors were tainted by the admission of Brown's 2009 felony ******* ault conviction involving Rihanna.

Give all the credit to Duke. They're able to get out of here with a W. Obviously, one of the things that we've really prided ourselves on over the last five years, going to year six, is more games are lost than won. Obviously to get a sell out here and to have a crowd the way we did, winning is addictive. For players, coaches, and fans, you get used to having success in those moments. I got two girls at home that love to have a fun time. And when you don't have success, it just sits with you for seven days. So the part that you got to learn is you'll learn more and more. I ask them to have big eyes and ears tomorrow. In due time, future First-Ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Donald should make the Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams even scarier on paper than they already were. Sure, it's been two seasons since the monster interior pass-rusher last collapsed a pocket, but he's no longer the focal point of the Rams' defense. That honor, of course, belongs to Myles Garrett. For all intents and purposes, we should probably expect lots of fireworks from an older version of Donald, who will be double-teamed a lot less in his second stint with the Rams.
Unfortunately for the Rams and any of us who enjoy watching prolific, all-time pass-rushers, we won't see Donald do that when the Rams play the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday. Why?
The simple and straightforward answer is that Donald, after being away from pro football for so long, isn't quite physically ready yet to subject his body to the inherent grit and grind of the game. As such, Donald didn't even travel with the Rams to Australia so he could continue focusing on his training and preparation for his eventual season debut.
That's disappointing, but understandable. After all, Donald didn't even join the Rams this year until after they had finished their training camp. For as much as he was undoubtedly doing his own training on the side while sitting in retirement, there's a big difference between that kind of training and getting ready to play physically demanding, high-level football games. The Rams are taking the right approach here because they know what Donald can likely still do at full capacity and understand they can certainly beat the 49ers without him.
It's just a shame that we have to wait a little longer to see one of the greatest football players of all time do his thing again.

Anderson revisited the diagnosis while accepting amfAR's Award of Courage at the organization's Sept. 6 gala in Venice. She described hepatitis C as a "death sentence" at the time because the treatments then available had not given her the certainty that later antiviral drugs would provide.
She ultimately completed a 12-week antiviral treatment and announced in 2015 that she was free of the virus. During her Venice speech, however, Anderson said the years surrounding the diagnosis affected her decisions and left behind feelings of shame and guilt that did not disappear with the medical result.
The 59-year-old actress ended her remarks by rejecting the victim label attached to difficult periods in her life. "I'm not a victim, I'm a victor," she told the audience. "I'm not the damsel in distress, no matter how easy that role is to play."

"In some ways, it makes me a bit more relaxed going into the weekend," Antonelli said in the FIA press conference. "That's why I'm going to be able to enjoy more the driving and the weekend itself. Also, it's a different opportunity.

George Clooney is not holding back when it comes to his feelings about President Donald Trump.
Clooney, 65, was on hand at the Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy, on Wednesday, September 2, to accept the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award on the festival's opening day, when he was asked about the current state of affairs back in the United States.
The Oscar winner, who famously lives abroad with his wife, Amal, and their 9-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, admitted he's "ashamed" of the Trump-led U.S. government.
"I do believe… we're at a moment in time that's unfortunate. I think that's an understatement," Clooney, who is no stranger to criticizing 80-year-old Trump, said, per Vanity Fair. "There's a great word, a kakistocracy, which is a country run by the least qualified people. I think maybe we have a kakistocracy right now, but we'll get through it."
With the midterm elections just around the corner in November, the Good Night, and Good Luck star said he's hoping for a "check and balance" in the government, and a return to "normalcy" by the next presidential election in 2028.

Charlie Theron had a surprising response to fans expecting her to discuss Tom Hardy. The actress reflected on filming Mad Max: Fury Road instead. Theron shared a sweet memory involving her daughter and costars. She then jokingly told the crowd, "Shame on you!"
Theron recently appeared at a screening of Mad Max: Fury Road. She spoke to an audience at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The actress was asked whether she had positive memories from filming.
"I actually do, okay!" Theron replied as the audience laughed. The reaction appeared connected to her widely reported on-set difficulties. Theron and Tom Hardy reportedly struggled to get along during production.
However, Theron chose to share a much sweeter memory. Her oldest daughter was only six weeks old during filming. As a single mother, Theron said she did not bring a nanny.
"All of the girls in this film and Nick Hoult basically raised her," Theron recalled. The cast spent six months filming in Namibia. Her daughter remained close to the production throughout that time.
