Now that the dust is starting to settle on Saturday's opening-day defeat to Ipswich down at Portman Road, let's take a look at what went wrong and why there's no need to panic.
We've not lost many games under Régis Le Bris, so the feeling after a defeat isn't something we're used to. This is the first time that we have lost our opening league game under Le Bris, and it's never nice to have the sinking feeling that comes with any defeat, but upon reflection on Saturday's game, there's currently nothing to suggest the need to panic.
We started the opening twenty minutes positively, looking to set our stall out early and take control of the game. We also had a great chance after the first five minutes through some quick interplay and an opening for Brian Brobbey, who really ought to have done better with this chance.
We had the better share of possession as we looked to settle into a rhythm. Unfortunately, we were unable to do so all afternoon and, on twenty-five minutes, a mistake from Luke O'Nien led to Julio Enciso nipping in and robbing us on the halfway line.
Some calamitous defending followed, and we were 1-0 down before we knew it. Brobbey also had a golden chance in the second half which he should've buried.

The Washington Commanders trimmed their suddenly crowded running back room by one recently. Last week, Washington placed fifth-year veteran Jerome Ford on the reserve/injured list after he'd suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins.

It did not end the way the Chicago Bears had hoped, but starting quarterback Caleb Williams was able to get his first preseason action on Saturday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, fresh off the heels of a joint practice on Thursday.
The Bears ended up losing the game against the Bengals, 27-9, after putting up a sloppy effort on both sides of the ball. There were a lot of penalties and that was Williams' main complaint about the game.
"It felt good and smooth out there, no complaints other than needing to avoid penalties," Williams said. "When we get penalties, it's my job and the other guys' job to get us back in position to help Ben (Johnson) out. There aren't many calls for second- or third-and-20, so we just need to do a better job with that. But it was good getting back into game mode."
Williams completed two passes in this game -- the first to wide receiver Rome Odunze for 18 yards and the second to tight end Colston Loveland for 10 yards -- on five attempts for 28 yards. He also had a completion to running back Roschon Johnson that did not count due to an illegal contact penalty against the Bengals.
Chicago's starters got all the way down to Cincinnati's 17-yard line before a holding penalty against left tackle Braxton Jones set them back 10 yards. They were not able to overcome that penalty and had to settle for a 45-yard field goal from kicker Cairo Santos. It was Santos' first of three field goals in the game; he also missed a 53-yard field goal.

It would seem that Manchester City have settled on signing Allan from Palmeiras to fill void on the right wing in Enzo Maresca's squad. Mark Ruffalo is rejecting Paramount's claim that his recent comments highlighting the role Larry Ellison's Oracle played in the Israel-Gaza war were "antisemitic."
"The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest," Ruffalo wrote on X Saturday morning. "Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect. In Week 2 of the preseason, the Philadelphia Eagles aren't looking for a game filled with individual highlights. They need evidence of something. They'd like to learn whether the progress they've seen during training camp can carry over from one evaluation period to the next.
Their preseason debut was a snoozer. Another road trip followed, and in the first joint practice vs. the New England Patriots, Mike Vrabel's squad was deemed 'the winners'. Philadelphia took the checkered flag at the end of the second, and that makes Saturday night's second preseason game against the Patriots particularly useful for several players who entered the week with something to prove.

Offensively, I'd anticipate you see the Ravens continue feeding the rookie tight ends plenty. Hibner had the hot hand with plenty of targets last week, so Cuevas may draw more targets this week. Adam Randall seemed to heat up more as his game progressed as well, so look to see him more confident out of the backfield. Baltimore's defense didn't force a turnover against Philly, but I think that changes in this one. JJ McCarthy knows he's got a lot to prove for his NFL future as he settles into the backup role, and I think he gets over-aggressive and air mails one or two that the secondary takes away. I'll call my shot and say Keyon Martin stays hot and gets one.
Baltimore's O-line had a rough outing in joint practices against the pressure looks brought by Brian Flores and this Viking defense. Expect to see a bit of a regression from ***** nano and Reed as they feel the heat. With Danny Pinter going down, is it Gwyn or Pocic who runs with the 1s? How much time does Gwyn, who's already looked great but is inexperienced, get versus Pocic, who need ramp up time? We also need to see improvement from Andrew Vorhees and Emery Jones Jr. after awful showings last week. Corey Bullock will get center reps with Pinter down but could absolutely steal a backup guard spot. Gerad Lichtenhan also looked better than both of those guys last week. – Zach Canter

Williams' brief public statement comes after years of controversy surrounding her guardianship and medical care. She has repeatedly objected to the arrangement, previously saying she wanted control of the money she earned throughout her career. According to Page Six, the guardianship began in 2022 after Wells Fargo raised concerns about Williams' ability to manage her affairs. Attorney Sabrina Morrissey was subsequently appointed as her legal guardian.
Williams' health has remained central to the dispute. In 2024, her representatives disclosed diagnoses of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia following medical testing. However, additional testing in 2025 reportedly led doctors to question or walk back the dementia diagnosis, adding another layer of uncertainty to her legal battle. Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif has questioned captain Shubman Gill's use of Kuldeep Yadav in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle, saying the spinner's short spells suggested a lack of faith in him.
Kuldeep bowled only 25 overs across India's two innings in the Test and took one wicket, while left-arm spinner Manav Suthar and Ravindra Jadeja bowled around 44 overs each and shared 14 wickets. India won the Test by 165 runs.
Kaif, speaking on his YouTube channel, said Kuldeep is a rare type of bowler and needs the backing of the captain and team management.
"From how he was used, it is clear that Shubman Gill doesn't have enough faith in Kuldeep Yadav. From my point of view, you would not get a unique bowler like Kuldeep that often. They come just once or twice in history. We may get Ravindra Jadeja's replacement in the future, like we have Suthar; then we had Washington Sundar after Ashwin, but Kuldeep is a unique gift."
Kaif also said wrist-spinners need longer spells to settle into a rhythm and work on their mistakes.
"When you give a bowler a spell, especially a wrist-spinner, you need to give him a long spell. The short spells are not helping Kuldeep. Longer spells give you the chance to rectify mistakes. You need time to get into rhythm. Shubman Gill did not back him in that sense," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
Kaif backed former India head coach Ravi Shastri's ******* sment that Kuldeep is India's No. 1 spinner in overseas conditions. He said the left-arm wrist-spinner could be particularly important on flatter pitches where there is less ******* istance from the surface.
"I agree with Ravi Shastri, who said that Kuldeep is our No. 1 spinner in overseas conditions. You just need accuracy on turning tracks. You will somehow get a wicket by bowling at the same area. But you won't get such turning tracks in New Zealand. I feel Kuldeep will play a major role on flat pitches or pitches where there would not be much turn on offer. You will have to keep his confidence high as captain and team management," Kaif said.
India's next Test is in Colombo from August 23, and Kaif believes the team could consider handing a debut to Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain.
He pointed to Sri Lanka's left-handed batters Niroshan ******* wella and Sonal Dinusha, who scored runs in the first Test, as a possible reason for India to consider an off-spinner.
"I feel India might be considering playing Saransh Jain in Colombo. The two batters who scored runs, ******* wella and Sonal, are both lefties. There came a time when Shubman Gill was searching for an off-spinner when they were batting. Because of Sri Lanka's in-form lefties, maybe Kuldeep will have to face the axe. It was Suthar vs Saransh earlier; now it will be Kuldeep vs Saransh," he signed off.

After being waived by the Denver Broncos on Thursday with an injury designation, third-year linebacker Levelle Bailey (broken leg) cleared waivers on Friday and reverted to Denver's injured reserve list.
Because he is landing on IR before the initial 53-man roster is set, Bailey will be ruled out for the 2026 NFL season. There is a potential workaround, however, as the Broncos could release Bailey from IR with an injury settlement. If that happens, Bailey could join another club or return to Denver later in the season.
As it stands now, though, Bailey is currently on season-ending IR for the 2026 campaign.

On August 13, Golar LNG (NASDAQ:GLNG) used its second-quarter earnings call to announce a fourth floating LNG unit, an order signed just hours before the call began. The Mark II vessel will be built at CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China and delivered within 2029, making it the earliest available liquefaction capacity anywhere in the world. Combined with an EBITDA backlog of $17 billion already locked in through Hilli, Gimi, and the FLNG Esperanza, the announcement reframes Golar as a company still adding capacity rather than one just running out its existing fleet.
The new order lifts Golar's controlled liquefaction capacity by 41%, from 8.6 million tonnes to more than 12 million tonnes once fully delivered. Management said that if the unit is chartered on terms similar to last year's Esperanza deal, annual earnings capacity could rise 50%, pushing run-rate EBITDA past $1.2 billion by 2030. That confidence rests on a shipyard bottleneck.
Samsung, the industry's biggest builder, isn't expected to have open capacity until 2031, and Wison in China is on track to book its next two large units, leaving it committed well into the next decade. Seatrium and CIMC, the only two yards actively converting FLNG units right now, have built exclusively for Golar. The operating record backs up the growth pitch. Hilli finished its eight-year Cameroon contract with 100% economic uptime and 156 cargoes delivered, Gimi produced 15% above its contracted volume in the quarter, and the Esperanza conversion is 74% complete and still on budget. The new order lifts Golar's controlled liquefaction capacity by 41%, from 8.6 million tonnes to more than 12 million tonnes once fully delivered. Management said that if the unit is chartered on terms similar to last year's Esperanza deal, annual earnings capacity could rise 50%, pushing run-rate EBITDA past $1.2 billion by 2030. That confidence rests on a shipyard bottleneck.
Samsung, the industry's biggest builder, isn't expected to have open capacity until 2031, and Wison in China is on track to book its next two large units, leaving it committed well into the next decade. JERUSALEM, Aug 20 (Reuters) - U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has warned militant Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank not to steal property owned by Palestinian Americans, describing such behavior as "a violation of God's law".
Huckabee, a Baptist minister and longtime supporter of Israel's settlements, told Reuters in an interview that settlers found to have taken part in a siege of homes in the West Bank village of Qusra, including one belonging to Palestinian American Loui Ridi, could be punished with U.S. sanctions.
Israeli settlers began encircling homes in Qusra on August 9, in what rights groups said was an attempt to seize privately owned Palestinian land. The case has drawn international condemnation.
Israel's military has deployed dozens of troops to the area and has since pushed the settlers back from the homes. But they remain nearby and residents including Ridi say they fear the settlers will encroach on their properties again once those troops pull back.

The Columbian goalscorer spoke at his mainstream media conference on Wednesday night after Celtic's hugely impressive 3-0 win over Austrian Champions LASK and refused to accept that anything has been settled just yet despite the hoops taking that advantage into the decisive second leg.
"There are 90 minutes left," Camilo said. "We haven't won or achieved anything yet. I'm just happy for the work the team has done. Now we need to rest and continue working with humility.
"I know that the next game is waiting for us. We have to do our best over there, the same as we did on Wednesday night. With God's help, we'll get through this phase, which is what we obviously all want."
