The Philadelphia Eagles took a massive step back last season. From winning the Super Bowl to bowing out in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, the letdown was massive for the entire team. Given the state of the offense, a lot of the blame fell directly on Jalen Hurts.
Despite his resume, the dual-threat quarterback has been the subject of a ton of criticism. With some obvious flaws in his game, many believe this could be a make-or-break year for him. However, a franchise icon still remains one of his staunchest supporters.
Hurts' resume is hard to match. A three-time Pro Bowler, who finished in the top two in MVP once, the Eagles star has a lot of upsides to his game. Since he became the season-long starter in 2021, the team has never missed the playoffs.
But this past year, the negatives were more ****** ounced than ever. With wide receiver A.J. Brown shouting from the rooftops about the state of the offense, the blame fell squarely on Hurts as they ranked near the bottom of the league in three-and-out possessions.
LeSean McCoy, though, still believes Hurts can be the answer for the Eagles. During the latest episode of "Speakeasy," he offered a comprehensive defense of the three-time Pro Bowler, even comparing him to another elite quarterback, Joe Burrow.

On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers threw on their pads for the first time this summer.
Here are our top takeaways and observations from the team's latest outing of training camp . . .
Headlined by the ACL tear to second-year outside linebacker Nic Scourton, the start of training camp brought repeated shots to the Panthers on the injury front. But they finally had some good news this morning.
Cornerback Jaycee Horn was activated from the reserve/non-football injury list. He made a quick return, as expected, from a cut on his foot and participated with the rest of the team.
The Panthers also got back fellow starting corner Mike Jackson, who missed the last few sessions due to back tightness.

The Miami Dolphins have had their rookies back in the building for a full week now, but their veterans are returning on Tuesday, as the team prepares for their first training camp sessions under new head coach Jeff Hafley.
While some Dolphins have their jobs guaranteed for the 2026 season, others will spend the next month fighting for a spot on the roster and opportunities once the season officially starts in September.
Before that, let's refamiliarize ourselves with the 91 players on Miami's roster as training camp begins. The team is allowed an extra player because they have an International Pathway Program player under contract.

The San Francisco 49ers, like most teams across the NFL, have started their training camp sessions ahead of the 2026 season, and while their players have decided to continue playing, others around the league are calling it a career.
Among those who have decided to retire is former 49ers linebacker Nick Bellore, who landed on the Washington Commanders' reserve/retired list on Monday.
Bellore played at Central Michigan from 2007-10, earning All-MAC honors twice. He went undrafted in 2011 before spending four years with the New York Jets. After that, he spent two seasons with the 49ers, appearing in 30 games and recording 100 tackles, five passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one sack and one interceptions.
Since then, Bellore has had stints with the Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks (where he made two Pro Bowls) and Commanders.

The inclusive nature of the Commonwealth Games' integrated schedule is helping to change African attitudes towards disability, according to some of the continent's leading para-athletes.
Unlike the Paralympics there is no separate event for para-sports at the Games, meaning medals won by disabled and non-disabled competitors contribute equally to a nation's tally.
The process began in Manchester in 2002, helping to make it the first fully inclusive international multi-sport Games, with para events taking place during the same sessions as non-disabled ones.
"Sport really is a huge pusher for change," swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe, who is Uganda's team captain in Glasgow, told BBC World Service.
"It shows that para-swimming or para-sport just deserves the same kind of recognition, funding, sponsoring."

The midfielder Arda Guler was one of the very few Real Madrid players who avoided any meaningful criticism, despite being a regular starter, for the failure of the last season. He remained a key player for both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, and the highest point of his season came in the second leg of the quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, in which his two goals kick-started the Merengues’ comeback, although they ultimately fell short of achieving its objective.
Guler also participated in the World Cup with Turkiye where he also impressed, but his team was eliminated in the group stage. As a result, he returned to Valdebebas before any other World Cup player, last Monday.
According to Diario AS, the sessions over these five days have been enough for the Turk to impress his new coach, Jose Mourinho, and his staff. He has returned from holidays in excellent physical condition and mentally driven to continue playing an important role at Real Madrid. Some members of the coaching staff can be heard saying: “Güler is flying!”
The midfielder will find increased competition for his starting spot going into the next season. Bernardo Silva has been one of the major bets made by the Merengue club this summer, and he will compete directly with Guler for the attacking midfield spot. Meanwhile, Endrick’s ability to play on the right wing also means more competition in this position for the Turk.
However, he has the advantage of already being in Mourinho’s good books. The Portuguese manager wanted to have him in his team when he joined Turkish side Fenerbahce, and later had a meeting with the player in Istanbul.

Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid has brought a noticeable change to the training ground, with players already adapting to the high standards and intensity expected by the Portuguese coach.
According to Guillermo Rai in The Athletic, the atmosphere at Valdebebas has been described as “overwhelmingly positive” since Mourinho began work, with the manager combining demanding training sessions with a hands-on approach that has impressed those around the first team.
Despite inheriting a depleted squad because of the FIFA World Cup, Mourinho has wasted little time implementing his methods as he prepares Real Madrid for the new campaign.
Mourinho took charge of his first training session on July 13, but preparations began under unusual circumstances.
As many as 14 first-team players were absent after representing their countries at the World Cup, forcing the new manager to work with a squad made up of available senior players and several academy prospects.

Hansi Flick’s side face Europa this evening (20:00 CET) behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in what will serve as the team’s first pre-season fixture.
Europa, who compete in Primera RFEF, arrive after a summer of significant changes, including the departure of head coach Aday Benítez and several key players such as Jordi Cano.
Despite the opposition’s rebuild, the match offers Barcelona’s youngsters an opportunity to impress in a first-team environment.
And, according to SPORT, three players currently training with the first team are expected to miss the match.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is looking to source compute from ******* eX to run AI models. Not confirmed by either organization, the deal could be worth billions of dollars for ******* eX (SPCX) and deepen its ties with the government. Notably, the deal would be along similar lines to the ones the company has with the likes of Anthropic, Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL), and Reflection AI.
However, the news was not enough to arrest the decline in SPCX stock, which is down more than 25% since its listing, witnessing seven straight sessions of losses. Although today might break that trend, to some extent, as the stock is up about 7% in morning trading. The company's market cap now stands at $1.6 trillion.

It's worth saying straight out of the gates that Bloom Energy (BE) should be considered a speculative, high-risk trade. Sure, Bloom has enjoyed strong demand thanks to the stratospheric rise of artificial intelligence and the buildout of data centers. But it's also fair to point out that BE stock has suffered a heavy corrective cycle, losing 20% in the past five sessions and 43% in the trailing month.
Nevertheless, investors aren't giving up on Bloom stock, in part because the broader performance is impressive. Right now, BE enjoys a 24% Weak Buy rating from the Barchart Technical Opinion indicator, a byproduct of the ticker gaining almost 127% on a year-to-date basis. Of course, the bulk of that performance is tied to Bloom's core value proposition: providing rapid, off-grid solid-oxide power generation for electricity-hungry AI data centers.

Good Vibes in the Kitzbühel Alps: Head coach Markus Högner painted a positive picture of the BVB Women following their week-long training camp: “The conditions here are excellent. We’ve developed a playbook and are working on our principles both offensively and defensively.” On the well-maintained training fields in Austria, Markus Högner noted the team’s exceptional dedication, and he added that they were also having plenty of fun during recreational activities—which are especially important for integrating the seven new signings.
After just two training sessions, the BVB Women kicked off their summer preparations with a 5–2 friendly win against Eintracht Frankfurt II. Three new signings—Lara Schmidt, Ramona Maier, and Jacqueline Meißner—all scored in their first appearance for the Black and Yellows. Ahead of the friendly against Bundesliga promoted side Mainz 05, the head coach explained: “During the first week of training, there was still too much initial frantic activity in some situations. We’re improving from session to session and are looking forward to a hard-fought test against the Mainz women.”
A perfect start for the Black and Yellows: Markus Högner’s team came out determined and started energetically at the Hopfgarten sports field. The early stages were dominated by a confident BVB Women team, which was awarded its second corner kick as early as the seventh minute. After a set piece taken by Rita Schumacher, the ball found its way to Alex Popp, who clinically headed home her first chance of the game to give BVB a 1-0 lead (7th minute)—her debut goal for the Black and Yellows! Just three minutes later, the BVB Women were awarded a penalty kick. Rita Schumacher, last season’s top scorer, stepped up and slotted the ball into the right corner to make it 2–0 (10th minute).
There was no sign of the pace slowing down: The early one-two punch served as a wake-up call for the Mainz women, who pulled one back in the 21st minute after a long ball found striker Fetaj’s head. And the action continued in quick succession. On one end, goal-scorer Alex Popp was in exactly the right spot on a set piece, but her second header hit only the crossbar. In the immediate counterattack, Mainz 05 shifted gears and tied the game at 2–2 (28th minute) through Leonie Stöhr, who tapped in a cross from two meters out.
In the back-and-forth offensive exchange between the two teams, the BVB Women found another answer. Sixty seconds after the equalizer: Ramona Maier finished off a pinpoint through ball from Noreen Günnewig with a one-touch finish into the left corner to regain the lead—3–2 in the 29th minute. For Maier, who joined BVB from SGS Essen this summer, it was already her second goal in her second game for the BVB Women.

Riders climb the hill alone, racing against the clock. The course record is 22.19 seconds, held by Scott Smith, the 2012 winner.
The first rider pedals from the starting line at 10 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to watch from each side of George Street.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced padel as a compulsory part of training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

Players attending long training camps will now have to play the racket sport for 40 minutes every alternate day as part of their fitness routine. The move is aimed at improving agility, reflexes, stamina and fielding skills.

The decision was made by senior selector and director of high performance Aqib Javed, who believes padel can help players become fitter while making training more enjoyable.

"Many of our players are already playing padel sports regularly but had to travel long distances to the limited courts in their home towns. We have now built a padel court facility at the NCA for the players," Aqib said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

He explained that padel, a sport combining elements of tennis and squash, is physically demanding despite being played on a smaller court. According to him, it helps improve movement, endurance and overall fitness, making it a useful addition to cricket training.

Aqib said the PCB wants the National Cricket Academy to become a place where players can develop all aspects of their game. Along with mandatory padel sessions every second day, the board is planning to add more sports and recreational facilities.

The PCB intends to build basketball courts as well as an indoor hall featuring snooker and other games. Aqib also revealed that the academy has already installed an AI-powered bowling machine as part of efforts to modernise training.

With these additions, the PCB hopes to create a better environment for cricketers to improve their fitness, sharpen their skills and prepare more effectively for international cricket.

"I'm going to try to learn and grow as a footballer and as a person. I think he's a special person from whom I can learn a lot."
Real Madrid are currently hosting double sessions under Jose Mourinho at Valdebebas. It's been an intense start to the pre-season as Mourinho wants all players in top shape. It also had more appeal than the proverbial ice bath that sports folk swear by (literally as well as vocally). It was early (6.50am), and it was cold, but it really was the perfect way to start the day!
Following breakfast back at the hotel, it was on to the staff coach at 8.15am for the comparatively short journey to the training ground.
Upon arrival everyone (medical, **** ysts, strength and conditioning staff), went off in varying directions to organise everything in preparation for the arrival of the players.
Prior to that, the kit department staff had arrived and, following a meeting with the coaching staff, set about laying out the specific areas required for the sessions.
Finally, the players arrived, by which time everything had been meticulously set out for their varying needs, each player having their own way of going about things quietly, or in some cases not so quietly.

It has been around four months, 138 days to be precise, since the Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes suffered his latest injury, an anterior cruciate ligament tear and ******* ociated meniscus tear in his right knee. This injury, suffered on 2nd March, brought a premature end to his club season, and more sadly for the player, also meant him missing the World Cup 2026.
At the time of his injury, he was expected to spend between ten to twelve months on the sidelines. However, as Diario AS has reported, his recovery progress is going very well, and he is expected to recover fully from this injury within the lower extreme of this time range, i.e., ten months.
After having undergone surgery right after this injury, the Brazilian forward has already overcome the most difficult phase of his recovery in these four months. He has gone through these four months with a lot of physical and mental pain, but his determination has never been shaken, as seen from the long rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions he has undergone. Later, he also started regaining mobility in his knee and began working in the gym.
As things stand, his recovery has progressed to such an extent that he can go through daily life activities, without stepping on the pitch. He also went to the United States to see and support his Brazilian national team in the World Cup, and in North America, also met one of his idols, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Going forward, Rodrygo Goes is expected to get his medical clearance in January. However, he would still need more time to get back to his best level and gradually make his return to the pitch in competitive games.

For the players of Kentucky, summer practice took a new form this month as the group got a chance to visit Las Vegas and step out of Lexington for a different few days of training. And according to Mark Pope, the players took the time to see some other sights that the city had to offer.
Speaking to UK Sports Network, Pope said some players took the opportunity to go to 'The Sphere', while others went shopping on the Las Vegas Strip, and he focused on basketball.
"I was at basketball the whole time, the guys went to the sphere, they did some top golf, I think some guys did some shopping on the strip so I think they had a bunch of fun together but for me the best part was the practice, I love being on the practice floor," Pope told the UK Sports Network.
While summer sessions seem to be going well, Mark Pope will likely miss out on one of his key targets to aid his coaching staff, as Jamal Crawford confirmed he won't be going ahead with the Kentucky offer.
"If this were a different time, there's no doubt. There's zero doubt," he said to KSR.

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo García is now expected to stay at the club past this summer, having performed at a high level during the first few training sessions under José Mourinho, according to a report from COPE's Arancha Rodríguez.
Gonzalo was rumored to be on his way out of the club, with several teams interested in his signing. However, the coaching staff made the decision to keep him as Gonzalo's profile as a striker could be useful throughout the season. The current roster lacks a target man and Mourinho has always valued that kind of role, so Gonzalo will likely have some minutes this upcoming year, even if he will be expected to come off the bench almost every game.
Mourinho, his coaching staff and the board will still have to make some important decisions regarding the future of players like Mastantuono, Brahim or Asencio.
