In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Vince Staples reiterated that he's not as rich as his level of fame might lead some fans to believe.
Staples recently sat down with Jeff Ihaza for a conversation at New York's Cherry Lane Theatre earlier this month, and during the chat, he was asked about getting better as a live performer. He was then asked if he enjoys performing live, and he replied, "Yeah, why not?"
Ihaza highlighted that being onstage and seeing fans in the crowd is "a huge point" for some artists, and he said, "Probably, I mean, I don't know what to tell you, bro. … It's like, my job. I don't really know what to say."
He said that he understands the "escapism" of being a fan, but in the end, "It really all come[s] down to money." He added, "Nobody asking people that they don't think have money any of these f**kingquestions. So the question is, 'Hey, I think you're rich, do you like being rich?"

Frequent board commenter Solanus tracks an enormous amount of pitcher and catcher data, tabulating each game result by hand. Last year, he gave me enough insight into his spreadsheets where I was able to re-create much of the data he hand tabulates (I'm way too lazy for that!) and I wanted to peak at some of those data points and see what we could learn about the defensive side of their catching corps.
The data itself comes from a mix of sources. Statcast data for actual line-ups and game events (who pitched, who caught, which innings, etc.). Baseball reference.com for overall pitching lines for each game, and with Fangraphs because of course there has to be differences in how the data is constructed that doesn't make it easy. Team ids between sites are different. Player Ids are different. Even game Ids are different, and all three have to be brewed together to knit the data into one consistent result.
I wrote the code. The methods are all Solanus. I simply copied his logic into R code and ran it. So he gets all the credit.
I chose to query both the 2025 and 2026 seasons (you will likely understand why when I go through it). Here is the raw data, and following that some of the interesting morsels I discovered and thought about some.

Oct. 29—As the NCAA battles roster churn unseen in Division I, junior colleges across the country are accustomed to turnover.
That forces coaches to quickly implement their culture while force-feeding their program's message to players.
For Spokane men's basketball, that means recruiting the right players who don't need much molding.
"They figure out real quick how we do things and how things are run and set up," head coach Jeremy Groth said. "We set that tone and everyone definitely understands right away what it's all about."
Last season, Spokane missed the NWAC Tournament for the first time in 10 years and for the second time under Groth. The previous time Spokane responded with a Northwest Athletic Conference **** le.

Gabriel Bonfim is trying to remain positive after his UFC Fight Night 293 main event was canceled nine days out.
With Sean Brady out due to a staph infection, Bonfim (20-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) posted a short statement on Instagram hours after the news broke on Thursday. The welterweight bout was expected to headline the Nov. 7 card at Meta APEX.
"As some of you already know, my fight was canceled," Bonfim said in Portuguese. "Sean Brady is out of the fight. He says he got injured. A week before the fight, he tells us he got injured. You can't really understand it, right? But God knows all things and we keep moving forward. And on Nov. 7th I won't be fighting, unfortunately. Unfortunately I won't be fighting. But I believe there will be news coming soon and we keep going. The goal is just one: to be champion and we keep pushing. Thanks, thanks everyone, appreciate it."

Oct. 29—VERMILLION, S.D. — Long before Austyn Modrzewski became the starting quarterback at the University of South Dakota, he was a first grader in Littleton, Colorado, who had already discovered something special about throwing a football.
He initially lined up at running back when he started playing tackle football. But it did not take long for those around him to recognize that the ball belonged in his hands, and preferably in the air. Even at that age, Modrzewski was doing something rare for a young player in his area: leading an offense that could throw the football.
By second grade, he was training specifically to play quarterback. Sunday mornings and several days throughout the week became practices for his mechanics, improving his footwork and developing a position that had already become his passion. By third grade, he was learning to read defenses.
Football was never simply something Modrzewski played. It was something he worked to understand. He competed across state lines, trained year-round and developed an appreciation for the quarterback position long before most children his age had even thought about their athletic futures.
"I always wanted to be a running growing up back because they always get the ball," Austyn Modrzewski said earlier this season. "And in the first practice, we didn't have a quarterback so I kind of just stepped up and started throwing some ****** . I had fun doing it, and I was like, 'I'm not half bad at throwing.'"

The Oklahoma Sooners are again battling injuries as they head into their game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Sooners had 15 players on the Wednesday availability report.
They will again be without key offensive linemen Ryan Fodje and Eddy Pierre-Louis, but should get Heath Ozaeta back. Center Jake Maikkula was listed as "questionable." This follows an injury he suffered against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Caleb Nitta replaced him in the game and did a nice job in his snaps.
Offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle praised Nitta's preparation when his number is called.
"Caleb's a fighter and he loves football, plays his ****** off," Arbuckle said. "And it's been that way since he's gotten here. That showed on his previous tape from other institutions. He's very smart, like really intelligent, understands defense, understands what's happening in the box, can see defensive back rotations. I mean, he's a sharp kid. But he's a fighter, you know, and he'll give us everything that he has."
Nitta's readiness could prove valuable as Oklahoma navigates another week of uncertainty on the offensive line. Maikkula's status will be worth monitoring, especially as the Sooners try to build on their improved performance against Mississippi State. A backup who can quickly recognize defensive fronts and communicate adjustments gives the offense stability when injuries force changes up front.

We always need to remember that actors are not the characters they portray, no matter how well they sell the role. They're just acting, after all, not showing their true colors. So finding out an actor that normally plays villains is actually a decent person shouldn't be surprising.
And no, it isn't surprising, but it is incredibly funny. There may be something to someone needing to be nice and empathic enough to understand how evil someone can be. These are the actors that are often typecasted as villains, while being incredibly decent persons themselves.
IMDb
He has a face built for plotting against the hero. From playing international spies to creepy doctors, he keeps getting cast in villainous roles, but colleagues always point out that he is incredibly down to earth.

Vanessa Trump is opening up about her breast cancer battle.
Her post in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes days after she confirmed her results "came back clear, so I'm finally cancer-free" in a video shared via her daughter Kai's Instagram.
"I sat down with my daughter and Dr Nicole Saphier to share my journey with breast cancer," Trump wrote.
"It was a long and challenging journey, and I'm incredibly grateful for the love and support of the people who surrounded me along the way.
Trump announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer in May this year.
"By sharing my story, I hope to encourage others to prioritise their health, schedule their screenings, and understand the importance of early detection," she continued. "If sharing my experience encourages even one person to get checked, it's worth it."

A report suggests that Meghan Markle received an apology from her half-brother, who had previously sided with their father, Thomas Markle Sr. He reportedly now understands his father's character and why Markle kept him away from the family. A revelation following the ***** ss of Sussex's recent comments on the serious allegations against him.
The Sun reports that Markle's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has asked for her forgiveness after supporting their father, Thomas Markle Sr., who's facing serious allegations at present.
According to the outlet, he said, "I'm so, so sorry. I now know I have been protecting the wrong person for the past nine years." He now calls the man he defended a "monster," claiming he finally sees the clear picture.
"I now know exactly why you don't talk to him any more and why you won't let him meet Harry or his grandchildren. And I'm ashamed that I spent years taking his side when you fell out with him," he further added.
The half-brother further addressed Markle, acknowledging that they aren't close. However, he remembered the time they spent together during her childhood. He revealed that he held her and looked after her when she was a baby. He also asked her to accept his apology and wished her family well.

LONDON (AP) — Sarina Wiegman has signed a contract extension to stay as head coach of the England's women team through the 2029 European Championship, the FA said on Monday.
The Dutch coach, who will turn 57 later this month, led the Lionesses to a second straight Euros ****** le last year, having also steered the team to the World Cup final in 2023.
"I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football," she said. "Of course, anyone who knows me will understand that my main concern right now is absolutely the World Cup, and helping this squad realize their potential in the years to come."
Wiegman's previous deal was due to expire after the 2027 women's World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Brazil next June. England will qualify for the tournament if it defeats Ukraine in a two-leg playoff, with the return game at Wembley Stadium on Dec. 5.
Wiegman, who was appointed as England coach in 2021, has reached five successive major tournament finals, having already claimed the European crown with the Netherlands in 2017.

Elina Svitolina has announced the end of her five-year marriage to fellow tennis star Gaël Monfils, attributing the decision to the emotional and mental impact of Russia's war in her native Ukraine.
Svitolina, 32, said in a statement posted on both players' Instagram profiles on Monday that she had endured sleepless nights, doubts and a feeling of losing herself, even with Monfils' support, before coming to the conclusion that she could not rediscover herself within their marriage.
"Gaël saw all of it," she wrote. "He never let go of my hand. We fought through this together for a long time, with everything we had. But some battles happen deep inside you, and no amount of love from someone else can win them for you.
"With time, I came to understand that I need to find my way back to myself and that I cannot do that within our marriage."
Svitolina's announcement comes a year after she ended her 2025 season early, saying she was not in the right emotional state to compete following Ukraine's Billie Jean King Cup semifinal defeat by Italy. Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Svitolina has spoken repeatedly about fearing for family and friends at home while competing overseas.

Many cannot understand why Shea Lacey has not featured in the last four Manchester United games.
The last time the academy graduate played, he produced an eye-opening performance against Leeds. He received the ball with his back to goal, turned sharply, and carved out just enough ****** e to whip a composed left-footed strike past the Brighton defenders and goalkeeper, breaking the deadlock.
United may have lost that game and been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, but Lacey's performance, crowned by a beauty of a goal, should have strengthened his case for starts and more minutes. Instead, Michael Carrick has rewarded that display by gluing him to the bench.
That has been baffling. In every game since, United have been crying out for a goal, a spark, or something different from the bench. Yet Carrick has ignored him while the team struggles to score, managing only three goals despite creating plenty of chances.
One of JJ Gabriel's biggest concerns, and his reason for wanting out, is that he is not being guaranteed the game time he believes he deserves. Would the Lacey treatment give him, or any other academy star, hope of a key role under Carrick?

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer defended his team's effort but not the results after Sunday night's loss to the Packers.
On a night when Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, Schottenheimer pointed the finger at turnovers.
"The effort is right, the fight is right, but mistakes are killing us," Schottenheimer said. "We've got to protect the football."
At 2-4, the Cowboys are not a good team right now, but there are no good teams in the NFC East and the Cowboys are actually the betting favorites to win the division. Schottenheimer thinks there's still a future for his team.
"We're in a hole. We've put ourselves there. There's one way out of it. I told our guys we've got to work, we've got to find solutions, we can't repeat mistakes. And they understand that," Schottenheimer said.

After the false start and the worst start, Michael Carrick ******* ounced it a fresh start. Manchester United have their fewest wins in their opening seven league games of a campaign for 40 years – just the one – and have not tasted victory in six matches in all competitions. Their manager nevertheless emerged from consecutive away games that brought defeat to Atletico Madrid and a draw at Leeds appearing more upbeat about their prospects.
"I understand the situation doesn't look too good if you look at it from a certain way, but I got no doubts that we can go on a good run," he said. That certain way could involve referencing results or the league table; seven games in, the club who finished third last season are already nine points adrift of the top three.
Carrick believes he has detected a good feeling around his squad, whether or not it stems from Lisandro Martinez's public criticism of director of football Jason Wilcox. "I felt like [it was] a bit of a fresh start today and where we're at, and accepting it and doing something about it," he said. Perhaps not doing enough about it, given the result was exactly the same – a 1-1 draw – as in their previous two league games.
Michael Carrick thinks Man United's new-look midfield, including Youri Tielemans (pictured), can lead their rebuild (Reuters)
If there is improvement in Carrick's camp, it has come from a low bar. And, in fairness, the performances in the intimidating atmospheres of the Metropolitano and Elland Road are not among United's four worst this season – Hull, Manchester City, Brighton, Tottenham – but, again, that is scarcely a compliment.

Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson faced backlash from the NFL world after getting ejected from the Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He appeared to spit on Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, right after the Bills received a defensive holding penalty in the second quarter.
But Gardner-Johnson came to his senses pretty quickly. Talking to the media inside the locker room, he acknowledged that what he did was wrong. He let his emotions take control in the heat of the moment. That's certainly something that no veteran should do. Hence, he took to his Instagram Story and shared an apology.
"I want to take a moment to address my actions and sincerely apologize to my opponent, my teammates, my organization, and everyone who supports me," Gardner-Johnson wrote. "My passion and competitive nature have always been a huge part of who I am, but I also understand that there is a line that should never be crossed. The gesture I made toward my opponent was inappropriate, unnecessary, and not a reflection of the respect I have for him or this game."
Gardner-Johnson further noted that there's "no excuse" for spitting on his opponent, regardless of the intensity of the competition. He is playing his eighth season this year, making him a responsible figure in the Bills locker room.

New England Patriots WR A.J. Brown caught three of 10 targets for 27 yards in a Week 6 win over the New York Jets.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: Brown, who hadn't played since injuring his ankle in the opener against Seattle (3-26-0), led the Pats with 10 targets, was understandably rusty and not on the same page as quarterback after missing a month. It may take some time for Drake Maye and Brown to find their rhythm, but it shouldn't be long until Brown is producing at a WR2 or WR1 level again. Consider Brown a high-end WR2 on a short week in Week 7 as the Patriots visit the Bears.

Michael Carrick has admitted Manchester United's situation "doesn't look great" after a 1-1 draw at Leeds, but insisted the performance at Elland Road felt like a "fresh start" for his side.
United have collected just seven points from their sevenPremier League games and have won only once in seven matches in all competitions. They sit in the bottom half and are still waiting for a first win since August.
A single league win after seven games is the club's fewest victories at this stage of a top-flight season since 1986-87.
Carrick did not hide from the numbers, but he backed his squad to turn things around.
"We are not accepting that everything's great, but sometimes you do struggle and you have to find a way through it. I understand the situation doesn't look great but I have no doubts we can go on a good run."

"We are not accepting that everything's great, but sometimes you do struggle and you have to find a way through it. I understand the situation doesn't look great but I have no doubts we can go on a good run."

Sophia Bush
The dichotomous trap of women needing to achieve absolute, contradictory perfectionism rang loud and clear in America Ferrera's now iconic speech in the 2023 Barbie movie and it certainly continues to resonate with Sophia Bush, who has never shied from speaking about mental health challenges.
"I think there's a lot of reasons we're still having this conversation," says Bush, who currently stars in Hulu psychological thriller Count My Lies and Grey's Anatomy (ABC), and is attached to reprise her role as Brooke Davis in Netflix's One Tree Hill sequel series.
"First and foremost, society only functions at the level it does because of women's unrecognized and unpaid labor. So the world is not exactly motivated to shift things in our favor because people feel like it'll come at a cost," she says. "But now we understand because of the data around those things… that if you could snap your fingers and create pay equity across gender lines—everyone would be doing better if women were doing better."
Bush cites a litany of women's rights that have been or are being rolled back. "They overturned Roe. Christian nationalism is on the rise and they don't think women should vote," she says. She points to the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act and the tens of millions of married women in the U.S. the legislation would block from voting.

A TikTok influencer has said that white women, especially blond-haired women, have an overly inflated sense of their looks, stating that this mentality causes much animosity in her video.
Kylie Brewer named the video "Blonde wh!te women tend to overrate their attractiveness." This is the sequel to her earlier video, where she said white men overestimate their looks.
Brewer claims that lots of white women find it hard to understand that other people might not think of them as the ultimate choice.
"If you tell them that you don't think that, that's the most attractive type of person out there, they literally cannot imagine it because for them, their experience of what they think is colorism is between blonde and brunettes," Brewer said.
"And white women get incredibly territorial over blond hair and over men in general," she added.

It's common for new investors to want to hit home runs in their first at-bats. That situation is arguably amplified at a time when major equity indexes are regularly hitting record highs.
With glamorous, high-octane growth stocks leading the charge, some market participants may be losing sight of the value of the singles-and-doubles approach to dividend investing. Those investors shouldn't ignore history. Though the percentage trended lower over the past decade due to the prominence of low-yield and non-dividend tech darlings, dividends accounted for about a third of the S&P 500's total returns over the past century.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 14x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our ******* ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
Most investors don't think in 100-year increments, and that's understandable, but when it comes to dividend investing, history and long-term perspectives matter. And the Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (NYSEMKT: SCHD) is a prime example of a dividend exchange-traded fund (ETF) with a compelling history for long-term investors.
Locked in a seemingly daily battle with the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF for the ******* le of the largest dividend ETF, the $108 billion Schwab fund has a nearly unmatched track record. Two weeks shy of its 15th birthday, this ETF, which tracks the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 Index, has returned 532% since its launch.

Christa Pike is feeling "angry and confused" after waking up in the hospital in the wake of a failed execution attempt that left her with severe physical health challenges that put her on a "long road to recovery," her attorneys said on Wednesday.
Pike had been unconscious and in critical condition in the days after two doses of pentobarbital failed to end her life on Sept. 30, they said.
"On Monday night, it was our understanding that Christa was brain-dead and that life support would be removed the next day," Randy Spivey, a member of her legal team, said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. "But on Tuesday, to the shock of everyone … Christa woke up and began talking."
Spivey said the effects of the pentobarbital have caused her to develop a blood clot, pneumonia and left her arms and hands "tremendously swollen," to the point where she's not currently able to use them. He added that Pike is still dealing with significant "cognitive confusion," but is "very aware" that the state had tried and failed to end her life.
The press conference came shortly after a hearing in which a judge granted Pike's attorneys' request to order the state to preserve all evidence connected to the execution, including medical equipment, communications related to the decision to call off the procedure or related to her emergency care and "anything that was in the actual room." The judge also ordered that any "barriers" that may prevent Pike from communicating with her attorneys while she's in the hospital be removed.

Slayyyter appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss her newly announced album wor$t man in america, but her love of vintage showgirl costumes also became part of the conversation. She shared that an old French cabaret costume she had worn for a music video apparently contained hazardous materials and gave her a rash.
Lloyd Bishop/NBC
The showgirl context is really key to understanding why this MYAT Fall 2026 dress was chosen.
The distressed pleated silk is formed to create a showgirl silhouette through the fitted strapless bodice, high-low hemline and dramatic trailing volume. I don't feel that it looks like a literal costume, but I'm sure many will strongly disagree.
It's fun and playful, and it leans into what she loves, with MIRAKI jewels and decorative Jimmy Choo Sacora sandals adding even more personality without competing with the dress.

Karl-Anthony Towns says the pandemic brought him closer to Jordyn Woods, deepening a friendship that eventually became a marriage.
The New York Knicks center told PEOPLE that having COVID-19 "broke me down to the core," while also helping shape the man he became.
He said Woods witnessed his illness firsthand and understands why he remains particularly protective of himself and his family when it comes to the virus.
The interview comes as Towns serves as a paid spokesperson for Sanofi in a campaign promoting NUVAXOVID, a protein-based COVID-19 vaccine. Sanofi announced the partnership on Oct. 2.
Towns' mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, died on April 13, 2020, at 58 after spending about a month hospitalized with COVID-19. His father, Karl Towns Sr., also contracted the virus and recovered. Other relatives died as the pandemic continued.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) has been a staple of Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) portfolio for decades -- with Warren Buffett essentially completing purchases of the stock by 1995. Buffett's hand-picked successor -- Greg Abel -- expects American Express to remain a long-term compounder and a core Berkshire holding because it's a business Berkshire understands well and trusts its management team.
American Express also features a growing dividend. It doesn't raise it every year, but even during the 2008 financial crisis, when many banks and financial services companies were slashing their payouts, American Express held its quarterly dividend steady at $0.18 per share.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
American Express has substantially increased its dividend since then. The next payment of $0.95 per share is payable on Nov. 10 to shareholders on record as of Oct. 9.
Here's how many shares of American Express you'd need to generate $1,000 in yearly dividends, and the three levers American Express pulls to reward long-term shareholders.

An expert has explained Prince Harry's decision to shield Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from public attention. The Duke and ****** ss of Sussex have been fiercely protective of their kids' privacy since their births. To date, the couple has avoided releasing full-face images of the royal children.
A royal expert has offered insight into why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children have largely stayed out of view.
According to Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, the Duke's own upbringing is key to understanding his parenting approach. Having spent his entire childhood in front of the cameras, Harry is now hyper-aware of what constant public attention can do.
Speaking on the A Right Royal podcast, Wilkinson explained, "My understanding of this, or up to a certain stage, is that Harry would much rather his children were not seen. He doesn't want them to be tapped."
As reported by the Daily Express, he further noted that Markle brings a different perspective to the decision. Having had a private California upbringing, she likely wouldn't feel the same instinct to keep them out of sight.

On an episode of the Behind The Table podcast, Hostin claimed that Erivo called her and said: "'Sis, I know you and I know your heart and your life's work has been about protecting women and children. But, the clip that I saw doesn't reflect who you are.'"
Erivo also reportedly advised Hostin to "lead with empathy, so that people can receive the message about the law".
During the episode, she said: "It's important to understand why the DA did not bring a case" against them in 2024.

Kylie Brewer has posted a video on TikTok saying that the people mocking "handouts" want the money without any effort, and the system that would supposedly reward them has been created for some particular white groups.
"This is not something, like, to shame them for their income or anything like that, but that's why they get so p***** off about 'handouts,' because they think that they should be getting everything," Brewer said.
According to Brewer, the racists know that the country favors white people.
"They see the way that America is advantaged towards white people," she explained. "They literally understand that, even though they will deny it to your face. And they want some; they want the money."
The opinions these people form about the country depend on how well they perform compared to Black and brown people.

Ash Gardner has spoken publicly for the first time about the alleged affair with teammate Georgia Voll that contributed to the breakdown of her marriage to Monica Wright.
Gardner said the situation became far more public than she expected and admitted she had been "naive" about the level of attention it would attract.
The controversy came to light earlier this year when Wright revealed the affair on social media. The relationship is believed to have begun during the Women's World Cup in India last year. Gardner has since apologised to Wright and said she has spent time reflecting on what happened.
Speaking to Australian outlet CODE Sports, Gardner acknowledged that her public image had taken a hit, saying, "My reputation has been tarnished with the public, but I guess something that I always try to strive to do when representing any team that I play in is be the best teammate that I can, and hopefully show what this team means to me when I'm playing for them."
The Australian vice-captain also said being a high-profile athlete means personal matters can attract intense public interest.
"Playing sport at a high level, you're open to having a platform, and sometimes with this comes interest from the public, and they want to know things about your personal life, and they invest, and then can make judgment either way of what you are or aren't doing."
Gardner admitted she was shocked when Wright publicly identified Voll, writing, "This is who my wife cheated on me with," alongside a photo of the teammate.
"I was certainly surprised, as you could imagine," Gardner said.
She added, "I certainly didn't expect the situation to take the path that it did, or to become as public as what it did. But I also understand that everyone has their own way of dealing with difficult situations."
Gardner said she now wants to focus on learning from the experience, having difficult conversations where necessary and moving forward with the Australian team.
She also said she understood Wright's perspective and tried to remain positive during what she described as a very difficult period.
