Downing is a former collegiate coach who captured back-to-back NJCAA national ****** les for the Coffeyville Community College Ravens in 2017 and 2018. She also was an NJCAA National Coach of the Year and was named Conference and District Coach of the Year multiple times.
After Coffeyville, Downing surpassed the 500-win mark in her career while coaching at Hutchinson Community College. Last year, she coached at Hesston High School in Kansas, where in her first season she led the team to the Kansas 3A state tournament, where they finished fifth.
"I thought I was ready to let coaching go because my daughter (sophomore Aah'Lice Jackson) is at the age where I want to watch her more, but this opportunity came and I now have the opportunity to coach my daughter," Downing said.

Bleacher Report has released its list of the best quarterbacks in the NFL going into the 2026 season. "To tackle all this, our team of scouts conducted an exhaustive film review and graded every non-rookie on a 100-point scale built from position-specific traits," they state in the piece.
They put Jackson at No. 7 on the list. It's respectable, but it also comes with a warning. The Ravens depend on Jackson, and he's really the heartbeat of this offense. But, he'll need to get back to that MVP-caliber performance.

Former University of Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner has been named to the Sporting News college football all-decade team for the 2020s.
A key piece of the Bearcats' undefeated regular season and run to the 2021 College Football Playoff, Gardner was named a consensus first-team All-American after allowing just 13 catches for 117 yards. He recorded 35 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions and four pass breakups.
Gardner was drafted by the New York Jets with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year and became the first cornerback since the 1970 merger to be named to the AP All-Pro first team in each of his first two seasons.

This is now, unquestionably, Lamar Jackson's team, and that's hardly a criticism. We're talking about a team built around one of the best quarterbacks of his generation. Under new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, many believe that ceiling is even higher.
Anytime the Ravens have a healthy Lamar Jackson, they enter the game with a chance to win. This is a team that has championship aspirations, but the problem hasn't always been getting into position to win. It's been finishing.

British boxer Raven Chapman has undergone emergency brain surgery in Denmark after collapsing following a sparring session, her management has confirmed.
The 32-year-old, who competed for the WBC world featherweight ****** le back in 2024, was placed in a medically induced coma after the procedure to address a bleed and swelling on her brain.
Chapman is now off sedatives and is awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a UK hospital, where a lengthy rehabilitation is anticipated. A GoFundMe page has been established to support her recovery.

Earlier this week, Real Madrid finalise the double sale of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios to Premier League side Fulham. Both players have reunited with ex-Los Blancos head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, and they may not be only players to swap the Bernabeu for Craven Cottage this summer.
It's no surprise that Arbeloa has expressed strong interest in several Real Madrid players. He's already landed Gonzalo and Palacios, but he has already eyed up further stars that he could be reunited with at Fulham, with one of them being midfielder Thiago Pitarch.
Fulham have been linked with Pitarch in recent weeks, but that was before the teenager suffered an injury that will sideline him until September. However, this has not deterred Arbeloa, with El Larguero reporting that a move will soon be made by the London club.
If Real Madrid manage to get a deal done for Rodri, it would be extremely difficult for Pitarch to get any minutes during the 2026-27 season. Thus, it makes sense for an exit to be sought now, although it has been complicated by his injury.

The Houston Texans announced Tuesday morning that they have signed the 2014 No. 1 overall pick to a one-year deal. He wore his old jersery at the he took the field for the first time under the new Texans' regime.
Once thought of as the best up-and-coming defensive end, Clowney spent five seasons in Houston opposite three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt, helping the Texans reach the playoffs three times. Since his departure in 2019, Clowney has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee ******* ans, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys.
A three-time Pro Bowler in Houston, Clowney rekindled his spark last season as a member of the Cowboys' pass rush, totaling a team-leading 8.5 sacks. He also added 10 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for loss.
With the Texans, expect Clowney to become the No. 3 pass-rusher who rotates in on early downs. Houston already has two of the league's best defensive ends in All-Pro Will Anderson Jr. and four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter.

Mike Mickens knew Kyle Hamilton was different before either coach or player reached Baltimore.
Mickens coached Hamilton at Notre Dame and watched the versatile safety develop into a first-round NFL prospect. Their reunion with the Ravens gives Mickens another opportunity to challenge a player who has already become one of football's premier defenders.
The expectations are not modest.
"Go chase everything — All-Pro again and MVP," Mickens said on The Ravens Lounge. "He has the capability to do it. The sky's the limit for him."
Hamilton has lined up across Baltimore's defense during his career, handling responsibilities at deep safety, in the slot, near the line of scrimmage and as a pressure player. That versatility allows the Ravens to address different offensive threats without substituting.

Nate Wiggins' speed and athletic ability were apparent long before the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Mike Mickens has been more impressed by the work taking place beyond the highlight plays.
The Ravens' new secondary coach described Wiggins as a special talent whose preparation and competitive mindset match his physical gifts.
"He approaches it that way off the field, on the field, in the meeting room," Mickens said on The Ravens Lounge. "He asks questions. He's locked in on the field, working little techniques and details of everything."
Wiggins enters his third season positioned to become Baltimore's top outside cornerback. He has been one of the defense's standout performers during the opening practices of training camp after declaring himself fully healthy.
His 4.28-second speed gives him the recovery ability to survive mistakes that would become completions against most cornerbacks. Mickens wants Wiggins to develop the recognition and technical consistency that reduce the frequency with which he must rely on that speed. The coach also values the confidence Wiggins brings to the room. Cornerbacks must recover quickly from difficult plays because another target can arrive before they have time to dwell on the previous result.

The Miami Dolphins opened training camp last week after re-signing some of their own free agents this offseason and watching others depart for opportunities with different team, while there are still quite a few members of their 2025 roster waiting for another chance.
However, that list shrunk by one on Monday, as former Dolphins offensive lineman Kendall Lamm agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec.
Lamm, 34, joined the Dolphins in 2022 after stints with the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee ***** ans and Detroit Lions. Three years later, he left for an offseason stay with the Philadelphia Eagles last year before re-signing with Mike McDaniel's team for their 2025 campaign.
Over four seasons with the Dolphins, Lamm served as their swing tackle, appearing in 46 games and starting 16 for the club.
After what Miami's offense reportedly looked like without right tackle Austin Jackson for a portion of practice on Monday, they could've used Lamm back this year. Maybe they'll get lucky and see him get cut again before Week 1.

Jadeveon Clowney is returning to Houston, and teammate Logan Hall has apparently given him the No. 90 jersey.
Hall, who signed with the Texans this offseason after playing his first four NFL seasons for the Buccaneers, had been wearing No. 90 in Houston just as he did in Tampa Bay. But the Texans announced that Hall is now wearing No. 96.
There's been no formal announcement that Clowney will wear No. 90, but Hall presumably gave up No. 90 so that Clowney could have it. Clowney wore No. 90 from 2014, when the Texans made him the first overall pick in the NFL draft, until 2019, when he was traded to Seattle and played one season for the Seahawks. Clowney also wore No. 90 for two seasons with the Browns, but he has worn other numbers in other places: No. 99 for the ***** ans, No. 24 for the Ravens, No. 7 for the Panthers and No. 42 for the Cowboys.
Now that he's back to Houston, he's back to his original Texans jersey, one that plenty of Texans fans still have and will wear again this season. And Hall will generate some good will in Houston for a gesture of respect to a player who wore No. 90 before him.

Before the World Cup settled all arguments, rugby's world supremacy was invariably decided between South Africa and New Zealand.
Two former outposts of the British Empire improved the game that England invented, and used rugby to forge their identity and raise their stature on the global stage. The Springboks and All Blacks stopped dancing around each other in 1921 when South Africa arrived in New Zealand by steamship.
For the next 75 years, to the dawn of the professional era, the rugby tours to each other's shores were ******* anic in length and depth, and fervor and controversy.
On the 30th anniversary of the last traditional tour between them, the All Blacks are in South Africa, opening an eight-match, six-week expedition on Friday in Cape Town. They and the Springboks will cross the Atlantic for marketing reasons to play the fourth and final test match in the NFL home of the Baltimore Ravens.
"These are the tours we've only heard of," Boks captain Siya Kolisi said when the tour was announced. "To experience this for the first time ... is unbelievable for us as a group."
